Glad everything is ok oiesha, am im right in thinking that you had the cold recently. I think a few of us have noticed a quietness in the bump department when we are under the weather. It can be terrifying. Big hugs and glad your both ok x

Gladys? Hmm Elsie or Elsee is the name of my sisters niece. Her mum was insistant on calling her baby Elsee (double e to make it more modern) regardless to everyones concern that no one knows anyone under 70yo called Elsie. She's coming up on 1yo now and its starting to sound normal iykwim when her name comes up.
Some names have an age dont they, like Gladys Smile

Right better get moving and get dd from nursery. We're going to visit my mums bf who just had a hip replacement.
Hope everyone is ok and those of us with dodgy hips/pelvis' take it easy and keep your legs together.

Does anyone know if your MatB1 form gets posted to you or if you get it from MW? My employer is asking for it, but I don't see the midwife again until I am 28weeks in Nov.

x

ghosteditor · 15/09/2011 13:11

Hey mia, I got mine from the MW when I saw her at 22 weeks - she just filled in (with pen) a blank form that she had handy. I bet you could just call the surgery when the MW is there and ask her to prepare one for you or mail it to you. You can't be given the form before 21 weeks IIRC.

miamama09 · 15/09/2011 13:58

thanks ghost, speaking to her on phone tomorrow so will ask her if she can send me it, or if I can pick it up from clinic.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/09/2011 15:05

ow ow ow - ear ache :-(

On the plus side the chocolate and cola cake is looking pretty good...

ghosteditor · 15/09/2011 16:18

I'm having a bad day too - my (normally lovely) boss snapped at me when I tried to commiserate about a particularly unfruitful meeting we'd just sat through, then came up to apologise for snapping which just made it worse, and I'm trying to control my rampant pregnancy hormones and not take it personally...

I will keep an eye out for wool socks though thanks cakes! And hope the cake turns out well and the ear ache calms down too.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/09/2011 16:28

Sorry you're having a crummy day ghost - Have a slice of chocolate cola cake. It's delish, but I need to decide what kind of icing... (if there's any left I'll bring some on Sunday!) I'd offer to knit you a pair, but although I have heaps of sock yarn I'm very scared by sock knitting, so I'll do an internet trawl for you instead.

Ear is killing me and feel very achey and tired so have decided to cry off pilates tonight after all. Am gutted as I was really looking forward to it, but pushing myself at this point will just mean I'm ill for longer. Sometimes I hate being sensible and I really hate whoever gave me this cold.

I did just watch my stomach do a little dance though, which was funny and incredibly cute - think someone's trying to cheer me up.

Fryn · 15/09/2011 16:54

Mmm - cakes could you shove some of that cake on a London bound train? Sounds yummy. And hope you're feeling better soon!

ghost - stress levels are rising here too pre-FBF. Most of my team can barely have a civilised conversation at the moment!

Just realised, as I tucked into my prune Activia, that I've spent the day eating wind-inducing snacks (in an attempt to combat the constipation Blush), such as dates and raspberries (not together, I should add), forgetting that I have yoga tonight. I'm going to be parping like a trooper! What a pillock.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/09/2011 16:56

Well I'm heading down to Surrey/greater london tomorrow - going to be in the vicinity of Kingston? I'll save you a slice!
Failing that I'll post the recipe on here if it's any good :-)

Thank God dinner is already made (I love lasagne, you get 8 helpings, so it lasts ages and you can freeze some!)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/09/2011 17:03

And hah - glad I won;t be standing behind you Fryn!

redheadbedhead · 15/09/2011 18:21

thanks for the cat advice cakes! She's such a greedy one!

Quite glad I didn't take up your yoga class now Fryn Grin Grin Grin ha ha ha!!! good luck keeping your methane in!!!

I am salivating about choc/coke cake. sounds so wrong and yet so right.....

had to teach naughty little 6 yr old boys the violin today - they almost made me change my mind about wanting a boy! so incredibly naughty!!! i don't think small boys and violins necessarily go well together...

i love all the old fashioned names like Elsie/Betty/Martha/Mavis, love em... I even quite like Gladys!! But luckily for you guys none of those names would ever get past my OH Wink and also now we have a boy it's so much easier - we always knew it would be a James, just got to decide on a middle name... and the middle name will be a bit weirder, so I'm sure some of you will hate my ideas... At the moment it's looking like Milo or Roan but we're not sure yet.

Oeisha · 15/09/2011 18:27

Thanks for all the support guys. I would have put it down to a cold too, but nothing, for 18h and no cold. I'm hoping I was the first of the batch to get the cold and that another one isn't incomming.

makescakes You'll be an excellent Mum, ME or no ME. (((hugs))) for the earache. I hate earache.

fryn haha! Grin Bless. At least you can blame baby-belly.

redheadbedhead · 15/09/2011 18:42

by the way, I had a tiny tiny tiny bit of blood today. It's not anything to worry about is it, that kind of thing? just looking for a bit of MN reassurance that I'm just being a worry-twat!!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/09/2011 19:00

red - I've had a bit of bleeding every four weeks on the four weeks. I'm expecting some next week (24). As long as you have no pain or significant amounts of blood and the bleeding stops fairly soon then it's not much to stress over.

fishandlilacs · 15/09/2011 19:49

argh-this child is running a marathon inside me. I swear on my life that he actually hasn't stopped moving in over 24 hours other than maybe last night when I was asleep. I'm loving it, reassuring and all that but feck me, stop now child just for 5 minutes. I'm exhausted! :)

Oeisha · 15/09/2011 20:39

redhead how worrying. But, like makescakes says, I'm sure it's nowt to worry about. If you are worried though...well, I would say call your MW, especially if it isn't cyclical bleeding. Can be something as simple as cervical errosion, aggrivated polyps, allsorts...but best get it checked out.

fish Abi's been making up for yesterday today too. Total change in patterns.

Re:kicking
Trying to think of a way to improve the 'Count the kicks' pocket folding thingy. Especially as traditionally Abi's been most active when it's not exactly easy for me to stop and monitor (like when I'm at work). I kinda want to adapt it to times of the day and no. of nerfings, rather than number of minutes worth of monitoring as she's usually pretty quiet in the evenings.

What do we all think?? Counting at a particular time of day this early on also seems a bit against advise as there's a good chance they'll move/change pattern very easily. Hummmm.....

redheadbedhead · 15/09/2011 21:09

yep oeisha i agree, think it's too early to count, and i was a bit Hmm about the foldy thing. In the link i posted upthread they suggest just getting to know times of day/general routines instead. Probably easier and less hard to get wrong.

thanks for all your reassurance, i'm just being an idiot cos I'm tired (no sleep, don't know why) and feel a bit sickly. have banished OH to the sofa so I can try and get a good night's sleep. This morning I awoke at the incredible time of 3.30am and didn't get back to sleep. Then did a full days work. So now I am off to bed! G'night!

shonnomanom · 15/09/2011 21:18

cakes hope your feeling better soon. Not sure if Im a fan of the choc/cola cake idea, not keen on cola so it sounds like a waste of perfectly delicious choc cake Smile

Red James will either be a middle name or a first name if we have a boy.

My sister had her 20wk scan today confirming teams blue and pink. My OH is now not happy as he was really wanting to call 'our wee girl' Olivia. My sister has chosen Olivia and Shaun as her names. Somehow he is ignoring the fact that I wouldnt have ok'd Olivia as it is terribly popular just now. But given he has an incredibly popular name he is not fussed about that issue. He has even joked that we could steal the name as we are due first.
Personally im still getting the boy vibe from my bump.

Iv had a particularly shit afternoon at work. And by god my pregnancy hormones have never brought to tears before, been close many times. But this time I had a massive big arguement with a 9 going on 17year old who is spoilt, lazy and thinks she can everything her own way. Iv never pandered to her but ofcourse her parents do. Her mum came home and found me trying to perk myself back up again in the kitchen. She was gobsmacked to say the least.
Im still quite teary eyed just typing this.
Im under enough stress with my shitty pregnancy brain forgetting everything and the pgp without a gobby wee girl mouthing off to me. I certainly dont get paid enough.!!
Ah just short of 11 weeks until mat leave! That plus a week holiday next month, a long weekend next week and I seem to be getting most Wednesdays off these days which is good.
Now where did I leave my Mars bar???Hmm

OP posts:
Oeisha · 15/09/2011 21:54

shonno gz on the sister's scan! Sucky day, but at least it's over with. It's scary to think that December's that close...got so much to do, including planning for xmas! Confused

I think I've created a 'better' version of the pocket kick-counter for earlier pg. If only I could pop it on here somewhere for critique...basically, it's 6wks per a4 side, each week split into days on columns... on rows times (night, then 3hrly intervals from 6am-12am) giving space to either just acknowledge or count movements, whatever you want...kinda looks like:

wk S S M T W T F
night
6-9
9-12
12-3
3-6
6-9
9-12
total

Not a very good view of it, but you get the gist...

What do you think? Gives the option to tally, to mention types, or whatever really...

I'm off to bed for a think and a sleep...and to see if missy will stop doign whatever weird pressure/leaning thing she's doing along with the bootings....

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 16/09/2011 08:47

no no no - chocolate sponge cakes are boring and dry and don't taste chocolatey. I haven't done the full taste test on this one yet, but so far it seems rich and moist and chocolatey and no sign of the cola taste.

Don't rule it out!

GiraffeAHolic · 16/09/2011 09:35

My god you spend one day in real life and then have about a hundred posts to trawl though Grin

Saw midwife yesterday, finally heard CheesyMonster-RainDrop's heartbeat. Definitely more horse like than train like (I think.

Booked my next glucose tolerance test, really not looking forward to that, I'm still in the throes of morning sickness so fasting from midnight and then bloods, 410mls of lucozade and then more bloods could be interesting.

I was 24+3 yesterday but my tummys measuring at 26 weeks Hmm

shonnomanom · 16/09/2011 09:42

Smile If you cant taste the cola then why put it in? Hmm Does it make the sponge more moist? Chocolate sponge needs to have a really gooey centre for it to be worth while I think.

giraffe good luck with the glucose test and drinking all that lucozade. My last bump measurement said I was bigger than I should be too.

Its soo dull and overcast here today, it looks like deepest darkest winter.

OP posts:
Oeisha · 16/09/2011 09:48

Giraffe Yay in hearing CMRD's hb. Don't much like the sound of the GTT - hate lucoxade, usually makes me puke, so here's hopng I never have to do that.

I'm a little concerned that Abi's hb sounds like a dog barking rather than a train or a horse (unless it's a horse and it's a barking horse - my cat woofs after all)!!! Strange wee madam.

I'm being repeatedly told my tum looks big, but then I'm all out front. Having seen the near-term Mums on Wed I'm still really teeny/didn't look at tall pg...

I can't possible see how someone measuring a bump with a tapemeasure can be a good indicator of baby's size. So many different factors appear to mind. Not only the general abdominal range of mummy (a taller mum has more room for baby than a dwarf like me), whether you're an all out front, or a round and round...did you have a flappy-belly before (yes), weight gain/loss for mum, levels of fluid...blah blah blah...so I can't see how that's accurate, unless they do some phenomonal logorythmic crunching or it's essentially all witchcraft an educated guess.

Oeisha · 16/09/2011 09:49

Thaaaat's not what I asked it to do....Angry
than a dwarf like me)
and witchcraft the rest shouldn't be...

Oeisha · 16/09/2011 09:50

oh ffs...
than a dwarf like me
seriously
