Simply me with the baby brain! Blush

Morning all. I'm definitely into maternity trousers now. They make my little bump look more like a bump and less like that fat middle stage which is good. Got a few bits in the H&M sale too. I had a lay in this morning until 9.30 which is huge as the boys are 6 o'clock risers. DH is working from home!

something that doe seem to have gone quickly.

Anyone else got scan dates yet? Smile

tiredteddy · 03/08/2012 10:32

Agh I can't even get that right, it should say...

"silly" me with the baby brain! BlushBlushBlushBlush

WingDefence · 03/08/2012 11:10

Wow Something that really has gone so quickly!!

I'm now waiting for my booking appt date and after that I'll be able to call to book my scan.

When we're in London next week I'll be seeing some of my old NCT friends. I am just going to look fat to them (I won't be telling them yet). Grr! Angry

WingDefence · 03/08/2012 11:11

And Tired, you are going to have to namechange to tiredbabybrainteddy tee hee Wink

mandasand · 03/08/2012 12:34

I've got my scan on 25 August, which is not that far away now, woohoo! I'm hoping to see bigger beans and some jiggling about - much more than the (private) scan we had last Weds (although it seems MONTHS ago that we found out it was twins - time is moving very strangely!) Can anyone tell me whether they give you the tests results on the spot, or how long it otherwise takes to come through?

About a week before that I see the MW again, and I wonder what she'll say about all that massage, pool, earth-mother type stuff in the MWLU now that there are two babies in there?! I've heard about half of multiples go to c-section and that they try to give you an epidural just in case you need surgery or other intervention to get second baby out. But who knows, she may be confident of starting out in the MWLU and seeing how it goes?

somethingwittynot · 03/08/2012 18:39

wish i could go to the birth centre but being a VBAC thats never ever going to happen

tiredteddy · 03/08/2012 20:09

So let's see if I get it right this time.
mandasand 25th August that's not long at all! How exciting. So you will be roughly 12 weeks then? I guess it must get a bit more complicated with two so maybe not the MLU? Lots of time to plan though. Best to get them out nice a safely too. When the time comes do you think you will find out the sex?

something try not to feel disappointed about birth choices. A baby is the wonderful end result no matter how they arrive into the world! VBAC sounds like a good plan though and your midwife was very supportive of that wasn't she?

We are off to the seaside for a week in the morning so probably won't post as there is very little signal down there. Hope we get some sunshine!!

somethingwittynot · 03/08/2012 20:19

someone put a bid in on the pram i wanted Sad

somethingwittynot · 03/08/2012 20:22

yeah very supportive she actually works at the hospital where i will be going would love for her to be working when its my go Grin she looked after me in HDU and shes lovely! feels nice to have someone caring for me thats cared for me before.

mandasand · 04/08/2012 19:08

Hello everyone!

Yes tiredteddy, I'll be 12+4 at the scan based on the dating the doc who did our early scan gave us, which she based on the size of the beans. DH wants to leave the sex a surprise, and I'm happy with that. We have one boy name and one girl name chosen so far, so we need to get our thinking hats on! Oooooh and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I'm really spotty too something! Feel like a teenager all over again...

somethingwittynot · 04/08/2012 19:39

seems to be my bum thats the spottiest! im turning into DP haha! me and DP have picked our names so thats one thing done! were not finding out the sex either

ChildOfThe1980s · 04/08/2012 19:47

Hi all, I am feeling brave enough to join this thread at last.

I am 7 weeks today, and don't know when I'll have my first scan. GP said he referred me, I assume that's to the MW?

Hope you're all well.

PS: Where's a good High Street shop for cheap maternity clothes?

tiredteddy · 05/08/2012 10:47

Yay it's sunny at the seaside!

child nice to see you and congratulations!
I like H&M for maternity clothes quite cheap and not too frumpy!

somethingwittynot · 05/08/2012 10:51

welcome child! also 2nd h&m but ive aslo got some very nice stuff from george at asda

WingDefence · 05/08/2012 15:17

Afternoon all! And so glad to see you over here Child!

Well we're down staying at my parents' place while they are on holiday. It's a slightly confusing situation as they are actually selling this place (moved here 36 years ago when DM was pg with mess my childhood home) while they rent a place near us.

Stayed at DH's cousin's yesterday and their 4 DCs. I was jealous! I told her and her DH that we are expecting as I know she won't tell anyone and we're quite close. Her late wonderful DN (DH's aunt) was a midwife an I remember her listening to DS's heartbeat when I was pg with him :)

Haven't told my DPs though as I don't want to text them while they are abroad!

I'm 6wk 2 I think now. Had morning nausea the last few mornings at 8:05 on the dot I.e. before eating breakfast but not this morning which I think is a relief and I'm not getting paranoid that my symptoms are fading

I'm also spotty grr.

Tired have a lovely sunny seaside week ahead. Something did you win the pram?

And we'll find out the sex (God willing we get that far etc) as we did with DS. S glad we did esp because I loved to be able to talk to my little boy knowing that he wasn't an 'it' IYKWIM!

Right, back to the Olympic tennis...

WingDefence · 05/08/2012 15:18

*pg with me so it's my childhood home

WingDefence · 05/08/2012 15:20

And her DM was a midwife. Blimey how many typos?!

mandasand · 05/08/2012 23:33

hey child! nice to see you on here, and the March thread too! the doc we saw for our early scan said that the chances of MC drop significantly after 8 weeks (from 20% to 2% for me, as I'm over 35) so 7 weeks is a Very Good Place to Be.

I'll have to try H&M. The only maternity clothes in local shops are D. Perkins and tiny Red Herring bits in Debenhams. There's a Mothercare a mile or two out which I'll try, and I'll also have to see if H&M have a maternity section in store. Would prefer to try before I buy.

Hope everyone's had lovely weekends!

somethingwittynot · 06/08/2012 08:43

didnt win it but brought a better one! for 250 instead of 380 and shes happy for us to pick it up when im nearer my due date! 10+4 today!

WingDefence · 07/08/2012 13:36

Brilliant something!

I'm currently in my old park back down south with my 6 NCT mummy friends from when DS was born. Two have them have travelled from Woking and one from deepest Kent and it's the most fantastic day. Not too hot and sunny so we don't have to worry about sunburn and all the children (plus another 5 more recent siblings!) having a great time :)

I'm watching the bags while they all go off for ice creams Torch

Worst bit is that I can't tell any of them I'm pg as I know they'd all scream because they know we were TTC since last April!

I really want to but I anything goes wrong, it's just more people who I'd have to tell IYKWIM?

Hope you're all having great days :)

tiredteddy · 07/08/2012 13:42

Great news re the pram something

wing sounds like a lovely way to spend the day! Know what you mean about waiting to tell. I ended up telling some friends at only 5 weeks as we were in a girls weekend away. Obviously I was not drinking but it made me feel a bit sick telling as it was so early. I never would have fooled them though!

WingDefence · 09/08/2012 09:43

Morning all!

Having a fab time catching up with family and friends this week :) Yesterday we caught up with friends who were trying for a baby via IVF for 2 years and she's now 22 weeks! Hearing everything she had to go through was shocking. And she's still very nervous about the whole thing, understandably.

Having a more chilled day today and then seeing a friend for a meal out tonight and off to the Transport Museum tomorrow with my DBro and family.

Hope you're all having a good week?

mandasand · 09/08/2012 10:59

Hey wingdefence! I don't know how you managed not to share your own good news! I've become very blase about telling friends, even those not so close!

Feel guilty about not having told our parents and my boss yet, but that time is so close that I think I'm just willing the days by. So I'm ten weeks this week. I have my scan on 24 August when I'll be 12+4. I really want to tell parents next weekend (they are coming to stay) when I'll be 11+4. If there's no bleeding or anything before then and my belly is still growing, how safe, really, is it to assume/hope things are going to plan? I.e. that both babies are still thriving? Both were perfectly within normal range in terms of size and bpm at the 8-week scan, tho I know things can theoretically go wrong at any point, and there might be things not quite right at the 12-week tests.

DH isn't entirely convinced we should tell family until after 12+4 scan but I really want to share it with my parents in person, rather than wait till after their hols when I'll be 14 weeks. Also, mum just got the all clear from hospital about something worrying they were watching and investigating for a while so I just want to shower her with the good news that, at last, she is going to be (all being well!), after 37 years of waiting, a grandmother. Of course we will have to stress that we haven't had the 12-week scan, but ... am I being foolish/reckless?

tiredteddy · 09/08/2012 11:13

Hi wing that's amazing about your friend! What a journey. Makes me feel very lucky. A meal out sounds good. We are still at the seaside. DH has taken the boys for a bike ride and we will be hitting the beach later if it brightens up. I'm 17 weeks now and starting to get excited. A little window shopping of tiny things thus week. Starting to think about a new pram too! Grin

WingDefence · 09/08/2012 11:36

Ooh a new pram Tired!

Manda the only people we have told (and would tell) before 12 else are those I know I would be able to tell if anything went wrong and those who I know I'd need to tell for their support IYKWIM. Someone on another thread explained it as you tell your support team before 12 wks. So we'll be telling my parents on Sunday when we see them (I'll be 7+2) but that's because I'm really close to them and couldn't imagine waiting until past 12 weeks!
And then if anything were to go wrong, I would definitely need their support and wouldn't dream of telling them that something had gone wrong but oh by the way I was pregnant and didn't want to tell you.

Are you close to your parents? Give them the excitement especially now that your mum's recovering :)
