Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WingDefence · 30/07/2012 20:06

Funny you should say that about my friend - at one point a couple of months ago she had got to a certain part in her studies and said 'I know you want to have another one but after what I've learnt, I'd advise any woman never to have a child as it's far too dangerous for your health!!!' Oh how I laughed Hmm Grin

Luckily I work from home so no commuting any more apart from a trip to/from London every few weeks. I don't think it's a coincidence though that I was working like a madwoman for the first 6 months of the year, get a major piece of work finished last month, slacked off a bit and fell pg...

I used to think the 2ww was bad enough but another 7 weeks is going to drive me crazy!

mandasand · 30/07/2012 22:37

Just checking in to say hi to tiredteddy (and again to you wingdefence!) Sorry I've not been very active on this list. I'm on a 'due in March 2013' list (same as wing) which is really fast and frequent. It's been so useful to have a big group of regular posters who are at pretty much the same stage and feeling the same kind of cramps and pains and tiredness and such. Really useful. It's kept me quite sane, to be honest, as I was convinced for a while nothing was happening inside. So, persuaded DH to go for a scan and I've only got TWO beans growing inside me! So, that's my big news from last Weds! Weird, it feels like I've known forever. Time is moving in a really strange, slow way - I'm really conscious of every single hour passing. On the one hand it can't go slow enough as I have to submit my book in five weeks time - whether it's ready or not - and on the other I want the time to hurry up so we can have the scans and tests etc. Haven't told boss, and obviously it's going to be a bigger deal now with twins - apparently I won't be able to move for discomfort in 19 weeks time, never mind reach my desk! Uh-oh. Wish we were due in the same month, tiredteddy, so we could lure you over to the March list. It's really nice on there! Hope everything's going well for you? I too am in tops and leggings land! Bought some bigger knickers today and some simply stretchy bras for sleeping in (cannot wait to try one out tonight!) Oh, the joys?! Hope DD gets well soon. xx

babylann · 30/07/2012 23:27

Hi sorry for not posting for a while. I was so tired and busy it left little time for mums netting, and the Feb group I joined has a Facebook page so I just forgot to come back.

However thought I'd let you know that I found out last week at 11 weeks that we lost the baby - I had some bleeding and then a scan found the baby was re absorbed already, but the sac had carried on growing so my body didn't figure it out very squickly:( we'll be jsing again at som pointsoon after the mc is complete(erpc booked for Wednesday) so I will be back!

Hope you're all well x

mandasand · 30/07/2012 23:35

Oh babylann, I'm so, so sorry to hear this news. It must be heart-breaking for you but it's good to hear that you're already able to think about trying again before long. I've been squirreled away on the March 2013 thread and it seems like we've lost about half the women to MC. I feel so lucky to still be hanging on in there, but I know nothing's for certain ... Take good care of yourself, and hope you have another BFP very soon. xx

babylann · 31/07/2012 00:19

Yeah although I feel completely heart broken about it, it was 15 months of on off TTC, I feel like we can't ignore the advice that you're more fertile after mc.

Thank you for the kindness, I also was surprised to see how many women left the group with mc but I just keep telling myself it's not the end of the world and it's better now than later as obviously the baby wasn't meant for the world.

I won't blabber on about it here anyway, I know how upset I used to get hearing about miscarriages when I was pregnant, but thought I should let everyone know why I'm not around anymore. X

mandasand · 31/07/2012 07:54

I really admire your philosophical attitude and what you say is surely right. The MC is in no way your fault; you've just got to trust that your body knows whether the baby has everything it needs to grow. There's no doubting that 15 months is a good chunk of time to be trying, even off and on, so I am really awed your get-up-and-go attitude about your fertility after MC. I wish you all the luck in the world. What also surprises me about the March 2013 is how many women conceive again, and so quickly, after a MC. So take heart from that. I have got that sotred away in my head should anything go wrong with my pregnancy. Look after yourself and hope to see you on an antenatal or other thread before long! Thanks xx

tiredteddy · 31/07/2012 10:01

Oh Sad babylann I had been wondering where you were. I'm very sorry to here your news and I hope that you get this message. I can't imagine how hard it must be but you sound strong and like you are coping well. I hope you family are looking after you which I'm sure they are. I hope the procedure isn't too horrid and you recover quickly. I will look out for news of another BFP for you in the coming months.

mandasand I know this thread is a bit too quiet. I think something may have gone to busier pastures too? I keep looking at the due in jan thread but it is much busier than the JS thread , there's actually two thread for jan but hey move so fast and seem quite impersonal in comparison I'm nervous to join. wingdefence has arrived over here too.

mandasand · 01/08/2012 00:19

hey babylann, good to hear you. the march thread is really, really good but very fast-paced. I try to post once a day just to mark my place. Lots of newbies over the past few days, so just as I feel I'm getting the hang of it the landscape shifts! Definitely worth doing though, and if the February (would it be?) thread is anything like March everyone is very welcoming. I think it's to do with the fact that we all know we might leave any day, if things were to go wrong. It makes it kind of a good, nurturing place. And wingdefence has just joined in the last couple of days too! The only JSer, I think...

WingDefence · 01/08/2012 10:32

Morning all - Manda you were up late last night!

Babylann that's terribly sad news :( I hope your appointment goes as well as it can today. I have no idea what that is like so I'm afraid I can't give you any advice. Thanks

We had a church trip to Chester Zoo yesterday which was fantastic but I was knackered last night so was in bed by 10 and slept in until 8:20 this morning! Shock (Well, apart from DH who was up and out by 6am to get to Oxford for two days' work...)

That March thread is a bit bewildering really. It's very large and as I'm due right at the end of March everyone else is talking about scans and letters arriving and I've not even seen my GP yet. So many people post I think a lot of posts and questions get lost unless you have fab news (like you Manda) or sad/worrying news.

I may leave it on there for a bit until after 12 weeks and then see what's happening. Don't be offended Manda! It may be that once I've had a dating scan I move into the April thread anyway.

I may go and give Something a poke on FB to get her to come back over here!

babylann · 01/08/2012 12:24

Thank you all for the support, went for my
Erpc today, just got home so at least it was a fast procedure and I had time to prepare emotionally so it just feels like a relief really.

Good luck with all your pregnancies and I will see you soon hopefully!

WingDefence · 01/08/2012 13:18

Hi Babylann. I'm glad to hear it wasn't too bad, considering. I'm still watching the JSing lot so when you get back on the horse (so to speak?!) I hope to see you pop back on there :)

somethingwittynot · 01/08/2012 15:10

sorry all! have been away for a bit got big money worries but i will devote more time Grin

mandasand · 01/08/2012 16:55

babylann well done on getting through this morning's procedure. Give yourself some time to heal physically and mentally and really hope you get a BFP again soon. The number of people on the Marh thread who had a MC or MMC within the last 3-6 months is really astonishing and gives me hope if anything should go wrong.

wingdefence, there are some late February due dates on our March thread because they felt the Feb threads were too established by the time they got there. I for one and sticking with March even though the babies will no doubt come in February! Hope you check in again once you're over 12 weeks!

hope things are good with you tired.

sorry to hear about your money worries, something. hope it all works out...

WingDefence · 01/08/2012 19:06

Thanks Manda. It just moves so quickly over there! I will see what the EDD is when I ever get a scan - my GP is a traditional bloke who is well known amongst my female neighbours for being a bit crap with ladies' issues so I doubt I'll get anything out of him! Appt at 9:40 in the morning so I'll let you know how it goes...

Something that's rubbish :( Are you still going to be on BBC3 btw? Will they pay you?! Wink

tiredteddy · 01/08/2012 19:33

babylann glad it went well and is now over. My very best wishes and thoughts still. Good luck for your ttc future look forward to seeing your name again soon.

something nice to have you back but sorry to hear about the money worries. Hope everything is ok with you x

mandasand think I missed saying a huge congratulations on twin beans. That's amazing what exciting news! Grin

wingdefence good luck with docs appointment and getting a scan date. The first 10-12 weeks just drag don't they.

I had a midwife appointment today and heard my little ones heartbeat! So exciting. It's nice to know that it's all ok in there. I'm definitely starting to expand now. A small bump is appearing.

mandasand · 01/08/2012 19:44

woopee, tiredteddy! it's an astonishing sound, isn't it? makes it all real! happy for you xx

WingDefence · 01/08/2012 19:50

Oh gosh I remember that sound! All these things I had forgotten (including bloody breastfeeding which I had a minor panic about last night!).

But this isn't helping me not to get excited about the whole thing. I'm doing quite well on that as go for hours before I remember I'm pg! But I just can't allow myself to get too wooooooo about it just in case.

Saying that, I know the risks are higher at this age but it's still only a 1 in 5 risk I think so I am telling myself that's a 4/5 chance it'll all be fine (which weirdly sounds better than 80% in my mind) :)

tiredteddy · 01/08/2012 20:04

Thanks mandsand yes really made think it's all real and not just CAKE Grin

wing 4/5 chance of everything being fine is a brilliant way of looking at it and I'm rooting for that little bean to stick!

WingDefence · 02/08/2012 10:48

Morning all!

Just got back from the Dr who was absolutely lovely. I thought he'd be all "yes, you're pg. Do you want a bloomin medal?" grump grump but the first thing he said was "congratulations, how exciting" :)

I'm not used to having one Dr for our family and only seeing him. In London we saw whoever we could and there was no regularity (and with midwives) but it was so nice that he checked up on the system first remembered my son's name and asked after him and we had a good old chat.

I mentioned at one point about there being higher risks and he just said 'oh 35 is when most people start families nowadays' with a grin and told me not to worry about anything and it would all be fine (even though I am still worrying)!

I'm booked in for my first community MW appt at 11:30 as she only does Wed and Thurs mornings and we're down in London all next week. Bit of a pain as I live 15-20 mins away from the Dr which is in the nearest town so I'll have been home for an hour before I have to head out again. And I have tons of work to do before we go away tomorrow night!

Oh and I had my first proper spell of nausea this morning. I was bathing DS and had to go into the other bathroom and stick my head over the loo. Nothing happened thank goodness but I was paranoid about leaving DS in the bath (even though he's 3.7)!

WingDefence · 02/08/2012 12:17

Okay, just got back from the midwife. This is really for my own records as I got a bit confused with the process up here which is a bit different to back in London where I was last time.

So the MW took very basic notes about my last pg and birth. She was surprised that I couldn't remember how much my DS weighed at birth. It's not exactly the most important piece of information is it?! It must be in his red book Hmm

She gave me a copy of Emma's Diary (yawn) and some free Folic Acid (yay) and the form for free prescriptions and treatment which is great because I need a dentist check up

The booking appt will be with her at the local children's centre any time between now and 10 weeks. The dating scan happens with the nuchal scan between 11.6 and 14 at the hospital (they were at 12 and 14 wks respectively in London and at different places) and I have to call and book it myself after I've had the booking appt.

There is also a 20 wk scan somewhere (hospital I'm assuming).

She also went through stuff I can't eat. I am so going to miss blue and unpasturised cheeses and the lovely unopened pack of pate sitting in the fridge at the moment :(

tiredteddy · 02/08/2012 19:56

Ooh you've had a very busy day manda dr and midwife in one! Glad doc was nice and friendly etc it is so disappointing when they are mean/ nonplussed. Yours sounds lovely ESP remembering your DS. The midwife too. Sounds like a good setup where you live. Makes its all a bit more real too doesn't it. Shame about that pâté though! I'm quite lucky with the food your not allowed as I don't like most of it anyway!

mandasand · 02/08/2012 23:03

tiredteddy you have sooo got baby brain - you meant wing not manda Grin looks like you've had a good day wing!

I'm feeling so damn big today! Got a nice second-hand maternity dress from eBay delivered today (£5 all in with postage - bargain!) Not quite ready to buy stuff from shops yet - too early and might be tempting fate - but this felt different.

WingDefence · 03/08/2012 09:12

Tired that's very funny!! Yes it was a productive day but not work-wise... Grin

Had to PIAR again this morning, not because I think anything is wrong but because now I've had to start telling people (Dr, MW) I wants to make sure I wasn't imagining it! Used up my last Internet cheapy stick and it was a v bright line straight away! Happy with that :)

Six weeks today woo hoo!

WingDefence · 03/08/2012 09:37

Oh and Mandas I can't believe my clothes are already getting tight. I knew it happened quicker the 2nd time round due to stomach muscles effectively being shot to pieces but this is daft!

I'm going to have to send DH up into the loft to get all mine down when we get back from London next weekend Grin

somethingwittynot · 03/08/2012 09:39

17 days till my my scan wich means in 13 days ill be 12 weeks! Shock how quickly has that gone?!

still knackered spotty and greasy hair. no sickness but random gagging. also not that hungry? weird. or this baby is going to be miniture Grin
