Hi all. Everyone who would like a Pampered Chef catalogue please feel free to PM your address and I will send one to you.

I have a midwife appointment today at 1.20pm (am very excited!). I will, however, have to negotiate with the practice manager re. seeing a different midwife because I was really unhappy with the pre- and post-natal care she gave me last time. I imagine that I will be under consultant care anyway but we'll see what they say.

Prior to that I have an appointment with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) for a screening interview for Asperger's Syndrome for DS. Will report back later.

Dysgu my OH is seeing a psychologist atm for Asperger's syndrome because even though he doesn't have a formal diagnosis he really believes it explains why he finds parts of life problematic. Did your DH receive a diagnosis as a child or as an adult?

I am currently meant to be transcribing my research interviews now so ho hum, back to it I go! Hope you're all having good and productive days!

WingDefence · 23/08/2012 11:31

Oh gosh Guinea - should I say 'fingers crossed' for the CAMHS assessment or is that the wrong thing?

And I have no idea what to say to Dysgu and you about your OHs apart from it must be difficult? Confused

I shall of course PM you Guinea for a catalogue. How exciting!

I am meant to have sent the final draft of this particular guidance publication to a group of people for comments last Monday. I'm still working on it. It's due to go out for formal public consulation next Friday. Ahem. Blush

tiredteddy · 23/08/2012 11:58

Hi guinea I can only imagine that a formal diagnosis means that you can get more support etc. from what little I know cahms are a great organisation so I hope the appointment goes well also the midwife too!

Good luck with work and that deadline wing

I packing for Iceland today but the weather over there is looking a bit wet at the moment. Monday is the wedding day for my sister so as long as that's dry I don't mind.

WingDefence · 23/08/2012 15:11

Afternoon all

Guinea - how did the midwife and CAMHS appointments go?

I didn't get that much done this morning and have decamped to the village cafe to feed baby yummy carrot cake to try to escape distractions and get on with my publication :( I seem to be flitting between FB and refreshing the MN talk Active list so I'm going to turn off the wifi [shocked] and get on with it RIGHT NOW!

If anyone of you see me on here before 7:30 tonight, please tell me off!

somethingwittynot · 23/08/2012 17:03

Just got all my private scan info through eeeek

tiredteddy · 23/08/2012 17:33

Exciting something that little bean is going to be the most photographed baby before its even here! Lucky you. I'm still undecided about finding out the sex??? Your not I think? Enjoy the scans, so very special Smile

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 23/08/2012 18:31

Ooo I love scans, how exciting something. Is there a reason you're opting for private scans?

Tired I couldn't not find out in both pregnancies! I will definitely find out. I know lots of people love to have a surprise but I just love knowing a little bit more about my baby.

The CAMHS appointment went well, we have been referred to the ASD team. Midwife appointment was also fine. Bit non-descript at this stage though. I did ring the head of midwifery today to request a new midwife...the one at my surgery looked after me last time and I was really unhappy with her care. They were very good and just assigned me to someone else.

Hope you got some work done wing.

Dysgu · 23/08/2012 19:25

Glad your appointments went okay guinea - assessments for anything ASD just take an age. DP was diagnosed as an adult - but it wasn't really a surprise to anyone! He doesn't access any support but it does make him much easier to 'handle' knowing there is a reason that he behaves the way that he does. he works with computers so gets on very well there!

He is excited about the pregnancy in his own way but does find it hard to deal with 'abstract' conversations - he is now much happier as I have set him the task of researching which car we should get. he has drawn up requirements and has something 'useful' he can do related to the new DC! He is also very good at coming home and sorting tea out for the girls so I can hide here in our room for half an hour and relax - he is very good at the practical things.

I told my mum today (so now I have someone to have those 'abstract' chats with!) She was excited but did say she had wondered recently if I was pregnant...

fryingpantoface · 23/08/2012 22:03

Hello!

Today I went to a wedding in a beautiful red maternity dress from Next. I'm massively bloated still and morning sickness is a bitch but I guess it's a good sign.

Still waiting to be contacted by the midwives. I should I call them direct do you think, and or wait for the drs referral to get to them to make contact?

tiredteddy · 24/08/2012 09:01

Hi frying how many weeks are you? Here they like to see you at about 9 weeks to then book in and organise the scan etc. I can't remember if this is you first dc?

fryingpantoface · 24/08/2012 11:36

I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow, butut it's my second

tiredteddy · 24/08/2012 12:23

How long did they take yo get in touch last time? I would maybe assume that they arrange booking in for between 8-10 weeks. Sometimes midwives have a certain day they spend in the office doing the clerical stuff so maybe they make all calls and appointments in a certain day? Hope they get in touch soon.

fryingpantoface · 25/08/2012 11:04

Last time the midwives were attached to the Dr surgery. I saw them in a couple of days. This time it's a sure start centre, and so heaven knows. I'm five weeks today though,d yey!

somethingwittynot · 25/08/2012 11:08

ah i just love seeing my little bean and we had private scans with DS so though ito would be nice with this one :)

mandasand · 25/08/2012 16:16

Hello everyone! Had my 12+4 scan this morning and everything looking great! Both babies are around 6cm form head to rump, which is what they should be. Their nuchal measurements were 2mm, which the monographer said was within normal range. I had my bloods done, and that's a bit trickier with twins and thyroid issues, but regardless of that and the ultimate ratio-of-risk we'll get, I somehow feel a really strong gut instinct that they are both doing really well.

We saw them move! No somersaults or dancing for us, but both jostled about when poked and it was utterly amazing to see elbows and noses. I have scans now every 2-4 weeks which is going to help with the anxiety a lot.

We told DH's family on the phone after. His mother is beyond excited! It's just brilliant sharing the news we're expecting, letting that sink in a bit, and then correcting them when they refer to 'baby' or 'cousin' in the singular ? and then having to manage their disbelief!

We went for a lovely brunch and then pram shopping! I know it's a bit early but wanted to see the twin buggies in action. I had to push my belly out to its fullest extent as I felt a bit of a fraud in there with ten thousand about-to-pop women! Twas fun though.

somethingwittynot · 25/08/2012 16:44

yay for scans and healthy twinnies!

fryingpantoface · 25/08/2012 17:20

Yey! Tomorrow I'm so pleased it went well

fryingpantoface · 25/08/2012 22:13

I meant manda. Stupid phone

somethingwittynot · 26/08/2012 11:26

Off for buffet lunch today! Haven't eaten breakfast or wouldn't be Able to fit it in!

fryingpantoface · 26/08/2012 11:56

I look and feel like the Goodyear blimp.

I'm only 5 weeks pregnant with my second child and already I'm huge. I've been going to slimming world and lost little over a stone and it was showing. Now my tummy is huge. At least there's a definite curve to it, more baby bump than fat looking, I just didn't realise I'd be this upset.

Any words of wisdom? Should I just embrace mat clothes at 5 weeks?

Practisingparent · 26/08/2012 19:04

frying I feel your pain. I lost a stone and a half after 1st dd, and was attempting to maintain my weight, but the scales are already showing increases and some of my clothes are feeling a bit tighter (across my arse and tummy Sad)! I have been quite lax on the healthy eating since getting my BFP tho. Just start wearing whats comfy, you have a good excuse after all!

WingDefence · 27/08/2012 09:19

Hi all on this gorgeous sunny grim and rainy bank holiday Monday!

Sorry I've been quiet, just had tons to do this weekend. It was our village show on Saturday (DS won prizes for his potatoes!) and yesterday after church we went to a MAD thing called tractor pulling. It's a cross between dragster/hot wheels/tractors and they have to pull these trailers with 100 ton weights on them to see who can go the furthest on a 100m course. Absolutely crazy.

It was ear defenders and earplugs all round because the biggest, maddest souped-up tractors have helicopter and airplane engines put in them! Lots of vibration in the stomach area too so I was a bit worried but I googled 'tractor pulling pregnant' and people said it was fine.

Manda so glad to hear your scans went well. I hate the fact I'm having to wait another 3-4 weeks for a scan to know if everything's okay. At least my bery achy boobs and before-breakfast morning sickness gives me comfort that everything is still going okay.

And Frying I'm living in leggings at the moment as much as I can but when I feel dodgy then I can't bear anything on my stomach so I wear an old pair of maternity trousers. I wouldn't wear them outside of the house though just yet!
