pucca · 05/01/2006 23:12

... I am always willing to listen and talk if you wish xx

Nbg · 06/01/2006 11:11

Congratulations Melsy

Melsy I am happy to talk as tbh I am worrying about the same thing. I didn't have PND but more anxiety (won't go in to too much detail). I am sslightly worried this will happen again so if you start another thread give me a shout

kitegirl · 06/01/2006 12:42

hello... remember me? I had to bid farewell a few weeks ago because I miscarried. Or so I thought. Well, you'd never think that I have three academic degrees, stupidity obviously is innate. I did not miscarry, very much pregnant, and 8 weeks today. I bled quite a lot and took the word of a bored-looking Aussie doctor in Portugal who concluded that I had miscarried, and also I lost all my symptoms literally overnight. All this time I have had nothing - no sore breasts, nausea, cravings, anything. I did a pg test on tuesday, a WEEK before my af was due, being impatient and in a vain hope of perhaps seeing a little faint line. It threw a big fat blue line and I thought 'something does not add up here'. I had a scan this morning and saw my baby, a strong heartbeat, everything is fine. I am kicking myself for being such a tw*t, of course I spent the entire Christmas binge drinking but they told me not to worry about it. Oh well.

Anyway, I'll join the board again then shall I... dates still as before, I think I am due 17th August. Must call my surgery now and get myself booked... really lovely to be able to chat to you all again, I've missed this board!

olivo · 06/01/2006 12:49

Thats amazing!fantastic news!congratulations!

do you mind if i join you girls? I got my bfp a couple of weeks ago but had some bleeding and pain.

However, I have just been for a scan - they've put me a couple of days back but was reassured to see a little blob with a heartbeat!
think I'm due around 26/08.

FirstNikki · 06/01/2006 12:55

Good news Kitegirl...all the best for your pregnancy..

Nbg · 06/01/2006 13:01

Am so pleased for you KG

See you next week!

Congratulations to you also Olivo

trinity1 · 06/01/2006 13:15

Hi all, just popped over from the June thread. Kitegirl, am so pleased for you. What do doctors know half the time anyway? - always trust your instincts. Hopefully you can just enjoy your pregnancy now. Have just hit the 18 week mark today and had a scare over the new year. Went for an emergency scan yesterday and all is fine so know how you must have been feeling. All the best to you and a Happy New Year to all you mummies! xxx

kitegirl · 06/01/2006 14:37

Hi olivo congratulations and welcome to the board!

oh yes, guess what dh said when I pondered whether I was in fact still pregnant: 'well I did not want to say it but I saw your tummy last night and it does look like you've had quite a few mince pies, so this explains it'. Cheeky git.

Strike1 · 06/01/2006 15:40

Excellent News Kitegirl! You must be so thrilled! Your due date is the same as mine!

Welcome Olivo, Congratulations.

How's everyone feeling today? I feel awful and can't motivate myself to do anything, but at least working at home means I can lay about with out anyone noticing!

Arabica · 06/01/2006 16:59

That's great news Kitegirl, welcome back!
Feel like a very ancient pg mum today. I had some work to finish off, but no childcare. So every night this week I've been up until 1am then back at the computer at 7 to get an hour in before DS wakes up. Normally this isn't really a problem, but now I feel and look like I haven't slept in 3 weeks. Good practice for dealing with a newborn, I suppose. Although I can't breastfeed my work, roll over and go back to sleep!

lunavix · 06/01/2006 17:45

Welcome back kitegirl, you must be so relived.

Hi melsy, don't worry you can talk to all of us, I'm sure a lot of people have gone through similar (I personally lied on that PND test from the health visitor as not to worry anyone.. big silly that I am!)

olivo - hi! my edd is near yours (25/8 I believe) although nothing will be confirmed till the dating scan! It is nice to see a blob with a heartbeat though!

My midwife appointment is for the 27/1, it's quite late (10 weeks maybe?) but she's offered to come to my house as I would have to drag 3 under 3s to the surgery So I'm happy to wait (impatiently!)

rubles · 06/01/2006 19:51

Hello and welcome to all the new pg ladies.

Olivo - I remember you from your pregnancy thread, I'm really pleased to hear all is well. I had a rush of bright blood last week which shocked me and convinced me it was all over, but had another scan last week and I am all fine, I have just hit the 8 week mark.

Kitegirl - well everyone has said it already, that is an amazing story, what a rollercoaster ride December was for you!

kitegirl · 06/01/2006 20:45

aawww... thanks guys. So, what have I missed? Who has joined that I have not met? Is there an updated list?

Have you started buying stuff yet? As this is my 2nd we have mostly everything but I found myself eyeing up a new buggy on mothercare.co.uk. The logistics have just hit me. How do you cope with a newborn and a toddler, remembering how hardcore the first few weeks are? At the moment I consider it an achievement if I manage to throw a load of washing in during the day AS WELL AS have a shower. Will end up having to downshift and move into a yurt.

trix1 · 06/01/2006 21:13

Kitegirl - Welcome back, yours is one of those stories that gives hope. So glad for you, and you got to have a drink over Christmas guilt free

Welcome also Olivo, we are still having new members join which is nice even there is a Sept thread now, it must be fab to find out and to be 7 or 8 weeks gone and not just be at 4.

snic · 06/01/2006 23:33

hi all, can i join in. got a bfp today, believe edd is 26/8. i have one dd who is 11 months, this pregnancy wasn,t exactly planned (feeling guilty about drinking over christmas). news is starting to sink in and now am really looking forward to having another.

trix1 · 06/01/2006 23:43

Congratulations Snic - Welcome to the August thread.

kitegirl · 07/01/2006 06:05

snic congratulations! What a nice surprice for you. I asked the doctors at the EPU yesterday about my Christmas benders and they were pretty relaxed about it, even said 'you won't believe how many phone calls we get from people when they realise that they are 12 weeks pregnant and they have done a lot worse things than having the odd cocktail!'

Right I am going to try to update the list - waking up at 5.30am these days, which is what happened with ds. Back then I did iVillage but it was full of weirdos I thought. Thank god for MN, otherwise I'd be watching Celebrity BB live..

Nbg · 07/01/2006 09:49

Congratulations Snic and welcome Theres loads of us now!

I was just about to call you a weirdo for posting a that time KG

I took dd to a party yesterday and was speaking to some mums who were saying that the double buggys were a total waste of money as they were never used.
Dh isn't keen on getting one and I really want to use my Quinny again so I think we're going to get one of the Buggypod's.

Have been bidding on some maternity clothes on ebay. I'm really starting to need trousers now as my bump is well ad truly getting bigger and firmer

nbg I have a Quinny as well (Freestyle or something) and I love it except a) it weighs a ton b) doesn't go through our door c) takes all the space in the boot. We have a McLaren Techno which is completely wrecked now, soooo... I am going to have to get a new buggy I think (dh lets out an exasperated sigh followed by usual 'whatever honey' with a silent '.. as long as you leave me out of it'). Something 2nd hand on eBay will do me just fine.

What's a buggypod?

is it the case that after first pregnancy you just show a lot earlier? With ds I wore all my normal clothes until 16 weeks or something, except jeans but that was probably only because I started eating when I was 5 wks and didn't stop until in the hospital. Now I definitely have a bump! Or it could be the mince pies.

trix1 · 07/01/2006 14:00

I have a bump too, but I think it might be down to constipation. I have been wearing maternity bras for 3 weeks now, much more comfortable.

I am so iratible today, I have to do an assignment that needs to be finished this weekend and I cant get into it at all - getting stressed with it now. Im tired even though i did not get up til noon. On a good note I will be nine weeks on Tuesday - yipee.

I am going for a nice Italian meal tonight can I have my favourite mussels for starters does anyone know?

Nbg · 07/01/2006 18:23

Bugypod

We have the freestyle too. I want to use it for the car seat and carry cot attachment as it was a total godsend.

kitegirl · 07/01/2006 19:55

I seeeee.... how cool, a side car for the buggy!

Trix I hope you enjoyed your night out, I would have eaten the mussels - but then again I'm the one who has just spent New Years Eve drinking vodka shots and dancing to Madonna, unknowingly 7 weeks pregnant. There's nothing like a last minute panic to get assignments done, hope you won't tear your hair out too much!

katylou25 · 08/01/2006 13:32

Hi all

Like the look of the buggypod - seems like ahalfway point between double buggy - which i reall want to avoid if poss and buggy board - I also have quinny freestlye and liked being able to use it with car seat so this could be my solution.

Am still absolutely shattered and full of naseau but without being sick - just want to hibernate really - hopefullly will soon pass. Had my first mw appt on Thurs and got EDD of 22nd Aug - exactly 7 months after ds 1st birthday - and she coming to house next week to do proper booking in and then will get a scan at 12 weeks. Am quite nervous about this baby for some reason more so than with ds so cant wait to get to that time.

olivo · 08/01/2006 13:34

Afternoon everyone! how are you all feeling? I seem to have had an early release from nausea for the day so am taking full advantage by stuffing my face! Never had such a yearning for cold mashed potato though !
I hadnt realised there were so many buggies etc around - I look forward to getting some recommendations nearer the time from you more experienced mums!
hope everyone is well x
