cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/11/2011 09:52

hello.... i feel very Blush that i've been off so long 2 babies have arrived!!

just everything is still so up in the air here. :(

on the plus side DD2 is pretty much potty trained now, so looks like she might be off to nursery in April!!

I've gone onto the depo jab instead of the pill, to try and sort my migranes but it's not worked. Dr has given me some medication for it... oddly enough it's cyclizine that i've been given as supposedly it helps with hormonal migranes... not tried it for them yet as only got prescribed it last week, have a headache that came on last night though and i'm thinking it might be time to try it...

So, these babies then? DOB, weights? making me feel a bit broody!! haha!!

Hi to everyone!

Rugbylovingmum · 16/11/2011 12:37

Sorry for coming on here to moan but I am having a bloody awful day Sad. Poor DD has a rotten cold and was up all night coughing so I am shattered this morning meaning the ms has bloody kicked in again. Have already been sick twice and feel horrible. I'm really hungry but just thinking about food makes me want to puke. Am trying to nibble slowly on a bread roll. To add that my boss is in a foul mood and keeps coming in and moaning about what I have left to do before I finish and piling more stuff on my desk - the work itself is fine it's the attitude that's getting to me. She is basically annoyed that I have a couple of days off when she thinks I have too much work to do even though 1 day is to go and have my scan AND I was told by HR that I'm not allowed to have holidays left when I finish. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, rant over, just tired and fed up today.

bumpsnowjustplump · 16/11/2011 13:27

Hello all

Thank you Moosy for passing on my news. And as you say it was far from ideal but at least we are both home now. DD is beautiful all be it a night owl who refuses to sleep while the moon it out..........

Birth was horific and I am very battered but thought I woud share my story with you.

I was asked to go to anti natal ward at 8am on the 11/11/11 for induction as they were worried that babies head was still unstable and I was a week overdue. I arrived and got a bed straight away only to be told that the dr were unhappy to induce me on the ward and that it would need to be done on labour ward under controlled conditions in case my waters broke as the trace showed the cord was laying very close to the head. So we waited until 5 pm to be told they were ready for me.

I had the pesery put in and had to wait for an hour in labour ward while they did another trace. Finally sent back to AN ward at 9 o clock with the instruction that if my waters went I was to press emergancy cord and get on all fours with my bum in the air...

Mark went home and I was happily contracting through the early hours. I couldn't sleep but they were not strong enought to need pain relief. At 5 in the norning I got out of bed to go to the toilet but as I stood up my waters went. Did as I was told and the room was soon filled with lots of people peering at my bits trying to decide what to do as head was still not in pelvic and was unstable meaning cord could desend at any time. It was decided I was to be taken to delivery and put on drip while being constantly monitored and on constant trace (strapped to the bed again grrrrrrr). I was put on the drip at 6 o clock and Mark arrived. I was still just breathing through contractions and was 5 cm by this time. At 10 o clock the drip was turned up as my contractions were now very regular but not moving the head down at all I then also went on gas and air. At 12 o clock I was ready to push but the head was still no where to be seen so had to try not to push which I couldn't do so the drip was turned up again. At 1 oclock I had managed to get the head into the pelvic and mw could feel it but after every contraction it would retreat again at this point the fluid had turned green and baby was in distress with lots of decelerations on the trace. Unfortunatly there were 5 other emergancies in the department so we were assessed (blood taken from babies head while in pelvis and o2 levels taken) as being lower risk than some of the other ladies so I was left to try on my own for a little longer. At one point we thought we had it but alas she went back further than before. MW called time on my attempts at 15.00 and said I needed a section as she was failing to proceed. Luckily for me (or unlucky which ever way you look at it) registrar that came wanted to try forcepts first but we didn't have time to do eppidural at this point (I was determined to do it with out so had just had gas and air) so proceded with forcepts delivery using just gas and air. Ouch bloody ouch. I had to have episiotomy but also tore the other way as well. But at last after two huge pushes she was out.

However she wasn't breathing so had to be resusitated and was then taken (along with daddy) to special care where they drained her lungs and checked all tubes leading to her tummy were in order. At 9lb 3oz she looked like the mother to all the other littlies in scu. :( !! I was stitched up and taken to pn ward while I waited for news. Both Mark and baby arived later that day and all seemed well. Baby was put on hourly obs due to level of fluid and the fact she had meconium during labour. The next day she was rushed back to scu as she was gray and not breathing properally and was panting from her tummy (something begining with T but cant remember what it was) I went with her this time and a tube was placed into her lungs and a chest xray was done (at a day old :( ) also o2 levels checked. After several hours on a machine we were finally given the all clear. We are both at home now recovering from it all. Baby bump has to go back once a week for the next month to check progress but only as an out patient so that is good.

I am just entering the baby blues stage and so feeling very raw and emotional at the moment but happy to be home with my beautiful girl - who weighted in at a 9lb 3oz.... I still have to wee in the bath and a poo is the thing of nightmares to me Grin

Rugbylovingmum · 16/11/2011 13:41

Bump - I am so sorry that the birth and the days afterwards were so awful and worrying for you both but a huge congratulations on being home with your beautiful baby girl Thanks. She sounds gorgeous and I love her name (I had a sneaky peek on fb Wink). Take good care of yourself and I hope you are feeling much more comfortable soon. How are DD1 and DS?

Diege · 16/11/2011 14:04

Ooh BUMPS that does sound very traumatic (I can only imagine forceps with just gas and air as had boith epi and spinal with mine - ouch!). So glad all is well now, but take your time to heal (physically and emotionally). It is so tough after even an easy delivery, and you have done so well, so please be kind to yourself. Your dd sounds gorgeous (what a good weight!) and really hope you get some rest and respite to enjoy her xxx
RUGBY, rant away, sounds awful at work Sad. Your boss sound a bit of a nutter Hmm - can you just smile enigmatically at her (I find that really pi**es people like that off Grin).

LebkuchenStars · 16/11/2011 14:14

A quick dash on and it seems it was well timed. Congratulations again Bumps. Sorry you and DD2 had such a tough time of it, but well done you - sounds like you did amazingly!!! Glad you are both safely home - wishing you some sleep Grin

Rugby - sorry for tough night and boss. I like Diege's recommendation. I find that checking myself, a deep breath out and a "It's not my problem much longer" really helps, but can only try to imagine what it's like to throw being pregnant into the mix Sad. DD has a cold at the moment too and woke me up last night because she "want a cuddle" - fine, but I had to get up at 4.30am for a flight to Germany [grr]. Have you got much longer?

SESthebrave · 16/11/2011 14:19

Bumps - Wow!!! Labour Achievement woman of the year award goes to you! I can't imagine how painful and hard that must have all been and I am so pleased that you and DD2 are now home and recovering. Do go easy on yourself. Have you got much support at home? Is DP able to take some time off?

Rugby - sorry for your rubbish day :( This pregnancy tiredness really doesn't take much but takes an awful lot out of you. How much longer have you got at work?

Diege - glad all is going well with DS2. I can't remember when your parents were due to meet him? Did that go ok?

Cant - sorry things are all a bit :( and up in the air. Has DH managed to get any progress at work? Well done DD2 for potty training! DS is still a million miles away so I'm just not going to bother yet.

Thanks for all the comments about my scan. Yes, feeling a bit more relaxed now and have told a few people at work. DH also announced it on FB and he's had lots of lovely comments :)

DS still not quite 100%, although he has been at nursery this week. Am hoping for a better night's sleep tonight as DH is away so I could really do with DS sleeping through like he normally does instead of waking himself up coughing!

I'm off to my parents' this afternoon. My godmother (who is lovely) and her husband are over there for the day so O and I are going to pop in and say hello. I've not seen her in too long and she's not seen DS since he was about 4mo old! Really looking forward to catching up.

Take care everyone :)

Rugbylovingmum · 16/11/2011 14:22

Thanks Diege - I'm just holding into the fact that I am out of here in less than a month and never have to deal with her again Smile. Only 13 working days left and she is at a conference for 5 of them. Usually I can ignore her (more or less) but today I'm tired and not in the mood for her crap.

Rugbylovingmum · 16/11/2011 14:42

Oops - xposted with half the wagon there Grin. Thanks for the sympathy, just feeling a bit sorry for myself today but have tomorrow and Friday off so it's not that bad.

Star - poor you, 4.30am is far far too early in the morning to have to be up. Is this your last week? You said that Sunday was your last weekend of work so is this you almost done? How are you feeling?

Ses - have fun at your mums today. I'm glad you are feeling more relaxed after your scan, it's lovely to get past the scary first trimester isn't it.

Cant - sorry I totally ignored you in favour of a rant Blush. I take it that things are no better with DH's work? Do you have a plan of action now or is everything still up in the air? Well done to DD2 on potty training Smile. DD isn't showing much interest in the potty yet so we are going to wait a while, we need to get rid of the bottles and dummy first I think .

Quick question - DD has been complaining of a sore/scratchy bottom for a couple of days and when I take her nappy off she drags her bottom on the rug or bath mat to scratch it. I was worried that it was worms but I've never seen any in her nappy or potty - would I definitely see them? I think it could just be because she has decided that she doesn't like nappy off time any more so never lets her bottom get some air plus we bought some new bubble bath and she wants loads of it in her bath. She usually complains when I change her nappy straight after nursery or when she is in the bath but it doesn't seem to bother her any other time. She never seems itchy at night or first thing in the morning which seems to be the worst time if it's worms. What do you think?

Diege · 16/11/2011 15:22

RUGBY, I am (sadly) a world expert on thread worms. It's odd that she doesn't feel itchy at night, which is when they 'come out'. Also, my dds have all had them and I've never seen them in nappies/toilet (apparently that's not uncommon). One thing that was suggested it might be by the gp (though never confirmed) was thrush, that can also travel to the gut and 'display' in an itchy bottom. Might be worth a gp visit if things don't improve? You could also try the worming tablets (harmless if not worms) as safe for over 2s. Good luck!
SES, enjoy your visit with godmother - does she know your news? My parents' visit was fine thanks, though my mum spent most of it on the computer checking out the IKEA website Hmm. Two weeks in a row too as had dd2's birthday yesterday Grin.
Friend due at 4 which will be nice. She's due with her first in Jan and is nervous to say the least. Hopefully the fact that my house resembles a Chinese laundry won't scare her too much!

Diege · 16/11/2011 15:23

Meant to say STAR very impressed with the flight to Germany - you sound a real high flyer! 4.30 not too great, though I was also up then sadly!

Bumps That is one hell of a birth story. It sounds terrifying, make sure you have lots of rest and snuggles with DD2. She has a lovely name.

The MW cancelled my booking in appointment again today. That is now 2 in a row that she's rearranged. So she is coming here on Sunday to do it. Hopefully.

Diege · 16/11/2011 18:26

Thanks TINKS those links will be really useful Smile
KAYZ that's bad service from your mw - what reason is she giving for cancelling?

warmandcosyhellokitty · 16/11/2011 19:31

no probs my fellow shopper Grin

Kayzr · 16/11/2011 21:58

Diege, they are very busy and short staffed.

I have a TMI question. DP is due home on Monday and I really really need want a GOF. But I am a bit worried about that bleeding I had last Friday. Do you think we can? I'll ask MW on Sunday too.
