TTC 6 mths+ GRADS THREAD

Biscuitsandtea · 07/08/2011 14:36

Afternoon.

I thought I'd start a Grads thread for those of us previously on the TTC 6 mths+ thread. I've been lurking on the ttc thread recently to see how everyone is getting on (having only very recently qualified to move off it!) and a few people were saying what a nice idea it would be if there was a grads thread so we don't lose each other.

Anyway, would be lovely to hear from other lovely ladies that were on that thread - or even if you were never on the ttc thread but had a sticky time of it getting your bfp then come and settle down with a decaf cuppa for a chat.

OP posts:

ele Baby M is the king of the 'micro nap' - he has about 4 small naps a day - usually 20min-30min, 45 if we are lucky! I hear this changes as they get older (please don't disillusion me!) but since his nights are so good, I'm just going to suck it up. But it is quite hard work entertaining a baby all day long! And now he can see, he's so nosy- very funny during feeds, I didn't realise how much easier it was without a distracted baby!
But, it is lovely seeing how much enjoyment they can get out of just looking around. I have to say, I'm really enjoying this age (4-5 months). non-mobile, feeding is easy, content to play with their and my fingers…
Are you doing purees? doll he used to take a bottle, just changed his mind about 4 weeks ago.. am hoping with weaning he'll forget he doesn't like them!

CritterPants · 04/12/2013 16:26

mellow you sound so much brighter. It's lovely. I can imagine a distracted baby would be tricky but how wonderful for him to be seeing the world around him for the first time! Just magical.

doll hope you're ok and feeling better, it sounds like you've had a really rough start to mini-doll's life. Thinking of you.

ele kiwi seeds in poo? Grin I have all this to look forward to! Glad the feeding is going so well.

sar you're on the home stretch now - you must be at term! Hope you're taking things really easy and resting and nesting lots. Sorry you've started to feel uncomfortable. I can't wait for the next clutch of 10 plusser babies!

gin I can't remember if you're due before sar or after? Hope you're feeling ok and still blooming and eating delicious cake and enjoying this incredibly special time.

Waves to my bump buddy buzz - hope you're feeling good. I am feeling wonderful, I do feel like there's less space in there, whenever mini c turns it feels like a fat man trying to get comfortable in a tiny sleeping bag.

princess I love that you're feeling so much lighter and hooray for taking more time to be with little princess. She sounds like she is thriving.

All well here, I had a lovely 4 day weekend over Thanksgiving, and am knitting up a storm with my first baby cardigan nearly finished. Feeling so incredibly happy and excited, and definitely like the end of the pregnancy is in sight (am 33 weeks today). In a weird way I am going to miss this stage of being pregnant with my little squirrel. It's so nice feeling him or her moving around.

Eletheomel · 04/12/2013 21:12

mellow yes, bfeeding the distracted baby is challenging (a nightmare..) but you must be so pleased to have a distracted baby :-)

No, we're not doing purees (I'm way too lazy to be filling ice cube trays with blitzed up vegetables). I'm doing baby led weaning so mainly doing finger foods just now (as we've just started) and giving him some preloaded spoons of slurpy stuff (yoghurt etc) which he delights in waving around when he's not sticking them in his mouth.

He's loving most things just now (apart from broccoli -think the bitty texture of it was too soon for him) so he's tucked into curried okra, steamed baby corn, carrots, parsnip and asparagus, crusty bread dipped in cheese sauce, baby rice cakes with hummus, banana, pineapple, kiwi, satsuma, strawberries, cheese on toast.

He can't sit up in his highchair yet, so he's eating on our knees which gets very messy (we need a bib as much as him!) but it's great seeing him get stuck into stuff :-D

As I mentioned to art if baby mellow doesn't fancy a bottle again, you could just try him with a cup and see if he takes to that instead? But it may be, he'll go back to bottles all by himself :-)

critter it's amazing how much attention you pay to pooh when you have a baby, as well as the kiwi seeds, banana comes out as black strands (weirdly enough!)

Congratulations on doing the baby cardigan - feel so ashamed that I never learned to knit (my mum taught herself when she was expecting her first and has been a great knitter (done wonderful aran cardigans in her time) but I just found it too slow when I was younger and never tried since (ridiculous really as I love handknitted stuff (esp baby clothes) but I think I just got frustrated at how slow I knitted, compared to my mum who could knit full speed while watching telly!)

Glad you're feeling so good, I loved my last 10 weeks of pregnancy (despite the unreliable bladder and sore groin) it was so good feeling him wiggle about - wow, you're going to have a gorgeous baby in your arms in 7 weeks - how amazing is that?

PrincessChick · 05/12/2013 16:07

A very quick post...

MrsM I'm delighted that baby mellow is starting to see. Absolutely thrilled :) An evening you say? You are doing well! Yy to the entertaining all day being a little gruelling sometimes!

Critter I second Ele in her words about poo stuff. You suddenly find your world often revolves around poo matters!

Doll glad to see your with us. Hope all is ok.

Ele BLW all the way but I agree it's soooo messy. We washed mini princess's hair last night and I swear there was more food in her hair (and there's a lot, it's growing down her back, like little girl hair!) than her nappy!!

We've had a horrible week... Poo and sick virus that made us shake with fevers, gave is headaches and meant we couldn't eat for days. Mini princess didn't get it but fed constantly and didn't sleep for more than 3 hours at a time. We seem back to normal today and put in place the strict bedtime routine last night where baby goes to bed at 7 and doesn't go downstairs or get interrupted with tv. This worked well. I had a good chunk of evening (5 trips up and down between 7 and 11.30) and a great chunk of sleep (11.30 til 6). I must say, mrsm you inspired me to be stricter as I felt Envy when you mentioned your evenings!! Plus a really horrific night on tues (me - 2.5 hours sleep) plus downloading / reading a sleep training book at 5.30 in the morning...

...zzzzz....

Ginestas · 06/12/2013 10:57

Aw princess sounds like a shitty week with the vomiting bug. Hope you are all feeling better now. And well done on the sleeping - amazing!

mellow that is such fab news about mini m. It must be magical to see him discovering the world. And what is your secret re the sleeping?!

critter I love the pic of your bump on t'other place! You look gorgeous and so happy. Apart from our pre term scare at 30 weeks, I too enjoyed the first half of the 3rd trimester. It's a great stage, knowing your baby is viable, feeling them move and beginning the nesting, without any MS. Now I'm too big and uncomfortable to enjoy it so much! I think I'm due about 4 days before sar!

ele and doll thank you for the reassurance re the ARM. Pleased to hear it's not hideous. I find internal stuff generally uncomfortable , but could maybe ask them for some gas and air. ele I did giggle at the cannula making you faint, sorry!

doll are you back home now?

ele I'm v impressed at Hamish's diet so far. He eats more veg than Mr Gin! And yay for kiwi seeds in nappies :)

sar I think 1/5 engaged is basically fully engaged! 4/5 is the least engaged - it's to do with no of fingers they can get between your bone and the baby's head. I'm hearing you on the waddling. Walking is hard now and if I do much, my pelvis aches like I've done a long bike ride, not just waddled 5 mins down the road! Are you enjoying mat leave? I'm v thankful not to be at work, as I'm really not sleeping well at night and need my daytime naps.

buzz not long until your leave starts now, wohoo. So pleased you are feeling better off the meds.

We need the newly upduffed 10+ers to head over here, as I don't think we have any more babies after buzz and critter's...

We had a MW appt yesterday and she confirmed that the baby is still head down and partly engaged, phew! It's funny how I really can't tell, but she said the head is pretty far down in my pelvis. The Doppler scared the crap out of the baby - she tried to move away from it and her little heartbeat shot up! Anyway, everything was fine so as long as the baby arrives before 41 weeks, I can use the MW led birth centre at the hospital, yay. Can't wait to meet the baby now. Just have to encourage her to come on time...

CritterPants · 06/12/2013 15:29

Eleth that's interesting about the banana, makes sense actually because mashed banana goes into little dark strands when baked into banana bread, I suppose the baby's stomach is cooking it in a similar way! I am a very slow knitter but have just embraced the fact that it takes me ages and I have to focus on it. I would love to be faster though!

Princess oh honey I am so sorry about your horrible week. Sounds miserable. I think you're coping fantastically. We had a childbirth class last night where the teacher went into detail about post partum stuff and it sounded like a wonderful but really rough period in many ways. I hope you can rest and recover a bit. Poor you. Sending get well wishes!

Gin that is so cute that your little girl was scared of the Doppler. You are so close now. Wonderful that she is still head down, and that you're getting engaged, although I bet you're feeling ready to meet her at last. Great news too that you can use the midwife led unit. I can't wait to hear how it goes, buzz and I are right behind you! Grin I was a bit nervous about posing a bump pic on FB but yours and sar's inspired me to go for it. Totally agree we need more ten plussers - mad and lemon are both in the second tri now! And we really really need some more grads from the conception thread. Some good news is long overdue there.

Love to everyone else. Can't wait for Christmas when I'll have some more time off!

mrsmellow · 06/12/2013 20:05

Gosh princess that sounds tough, hope it is all over now. I invested in the 'no cry sleep solution' recently, but have been too tired to read it Wink
I have no secret re the sleeping - we were really consistent about dark night, light day from day 1 and from 6 weeks a consistent bedtime routine (feed, bath, feed, story and lullaby, sleep) which led to a 45 minute nap followed by 3 hours of screaming until about 14 weeks. I kept saying, he will eventually not wake up after 45 minutes and it worked! Since then, apart from a couple of evenings, he has slept between 7-11. The dream feed has only been working for about 3-4 weeks. Oh, and from about 8-9 weeks, I have put him to sleep for naps at the first hint of tiredness - almost to the point of ridiculousness early on- sometimes at 45 minutes! To be honest, I'm not convinced any of it made any difference!! I think he just reached a developmental point where he could do it.

ele sounds like feeding is going really well - particularly curried okra! Shock I have also described myself as 'too lazy' to do purees - much to the disapproval of my nct group who are buying annabel karmel trays and pots by the bucket load and pureeing any veg in sight….
Well done on the knitting critter - I have envy of all the babies I see in home knit clothes, they look so cute and cosy! I think I need to dig out my needles. It is fiercely cold!
gin hope baby gin comes soon!
look forward to news of babies!

Eletheomel · 06/12/2013 21:44

gin I put my fainting down entirely to Mr E. He's a bit phobic when it comes to blood and stuff (so amazed he survived being there at two births) so i was looking at his face turn green when he was staring at the cannula, this made me queasy (combined with the feeling of all the blood dripping off my fingers). Fortunately, having fainted before I told the midwife 'I'm going to faint' and then did :-D

Great insight into how emergencies go down though, I passed out with just me the midwife and Mr E in the room and when I came too about 10 seconds later, there were at least 12 people in the room all doing medically stuff! Felt mightily shamed, but they wanted to make sure the faint was just a faint and not some scary pregnancy thing (when I faint my hands go into claws and medical folk always think it's some kind of fit). Made you feel like you were in safe hands though.

Really hoping baby gin makes an appearance before 41 weeks - I always fancied giving birth in the midwife led centre - really hope you get it.

gin and critter totally agree we need more 10 plus bumps on here (otherwise this thread might all dry up and that'd be a shame).

mellow well done on gaining the disapproval of your nct group Grin I'd have thought they'd have been well into blw - mind you, annabel karmel is a pull for some (but I find her scary and in my mind have always associated her with gina ford - don't know why...)

Agree about baby mellow just being ready to go down for the evening with DS1 we spent three weeks upstairs with him for bedtime and we changed his 1am bedtime slot to 7pm. We spent 5 weeks upstairs with Hamish and it changed from 11pm to 10:30pm - we gained 30 minutes! Since then, it's been great and he'll now go down about 6:45 then wake for feeds at 7:45, 9pm, 10:30pm ish. I don't mind though as it's only a 5-10 minute feed so I still get my evening to watch telly and eat chocolate.

I was really lucky as one of my mums friends loves knitting so i got loads of lovely hand knit baby stuff without having to do any of it myself (best of both worlds, although I don't get the smug/achievement of having done it myself).

princess a week of vomiting and illness sounds absolutely awful - so sorry for you and really hope you've turned a corner now and mini princess gives you a nice week to recover.

I met up with some work colleagues for lunch today (we always used to have an xmas lunch together and spend the afternoon in the pub, changed times, but I still did the food bit, then had an earl grey..) was greast to see them, and hamish was grumpy for him, but generally well-behaved (he's so content that generally his 'grumpiness' isn't really noticed by anyone but me and Mr E) but reminded me how much I really need to win the lottery....

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 07/12/2013 08:02

Marking my spot, altho I am still sans bump at 14 weeks. I've lurked on and off but you inhabit a space I am nowhere near, despite the diffment! It's interesting but I have little to add!

CritterPants · 07/12/2013 11:49

Yay lemon!! So happy you're here, hurrah! How are you feeling? Was the first trimester rough? For me it was totally the crappest part as I felt knackered and sick but couldn't feel the baby move yet. t didn't have an obvious bump until about 20 weeks I think, and didn't feel obvious movement until around then either. Pregnancy seems to speed up as you go along - the earlier part drags on forever, and then things seem to get faster and faster.

eleth hand knit things from friends are totally the best of both worlds. I have never fainted, but your description sounds scary - the sense of not being in control. I do feel sick at the sight of blood and gore though. Mr C is a fainter, or at least he used to be… hope he'll be alright during delivery, eek Grin.

mellow I hope I have a good sleeper too. I'll no doubt be looking up your post in a couple of months for tips!

Up very early here but luckily as it's Saturday I can have a nap later.

sarlat · 07/12/2013 18:13

Mellow - so so pleased that your baby is starting to see some more, truely wonderful news. Like critter I can imagine myself re-reading your sleeping advice in a few weeks.

Welcome lemon - and hooray for 24 weeks. I agree pregnancy does speed up from here. I had a great deal of nausea and sickness and heartburn throughout but mostly managable from 18 weeks ish - but that's not usual. Make sure you ask us any 2nd trimester questions. My bump came about 24 weeks but slightly rounder at about 19 weeks but no one could tell.

princess - oh you poor thing. Being spectacularly poorly plus baby sounds awful! Glad you are on the mend. Did any family come down and take over any duties?

Gin - so glad that your girl is head down and engaged!! fantastic that you can have the mw led unit birth. We just need these December babies to cooperate now. You are right about fingers and depth of engagement. 1/5 is very engaged so I was indeed 4/5 last time. Yes am loving mat leave and not sleeping well at night either.

On that note I am now at least 3/5 engaged so going in the right direction, but nothing exciting to report. Although my sister thinks my face and lips look more swollen - lovely.

Doll - you are right, its better to expect a late birth rather than expect something soon which is unlikely. How are you all getting on? Have you had family visit?

critter - your photo is beautiful, I think we have all made the right decision to just post one or two to mark the pregnancy journey.

ele - the baby dinners sound yum! Id quite like yo eat them.

Buzz - thinking of you. Hope you are feeling glowly and lovely.

Got referred for another growth scan this week due to ongoing small bump issues. Baby is 6.4 pounds which is fine but the stupid sonnographer told us there was significant blood flow/placenta problems and excessive amniotic fluid. He refered us to the consultant and we sat and waited to be seen, expecting an emergency induction. Not the nicest hour of my life. Then a very nice midwife eventually comes and takes us in to her office to say all is fine, go home. She was confused as to why we looked so shocked and couldn't understand why the sonographer interpreted our results as problematic. So that was that. Felt a lot like the ttc days where we had constant misdiagnosis and wrong advice. But the main thing is all is well with mini sar. The other annoying thing about the scan which felt really intrusive at almost 38 weeks was that I think I saw the gender (girl). After all this time of waiting for a surprise, I felt a bit cheated. Having a girl will be ace and of course I cant be 100% sure as im not a sonographer but I just feel it was a scan I wasnt meant to have. Ah well. All is good and just cant wait to meet my baby, tis wanted so much.

sarlat · 07/12/2013 19:42

Ooopps lemon - 14 not 24 weeks x

CritterPants · 07/12/2013 20:08

Sar how annoying about the scan. Grr at stupid sonographer stressing you guys out without good reason. On the gender front, we had a similar thing in that we asked not to know but they showed us a quite revealing shot of its bum too. Mini sar could still surprise you though! Even sonographers make mistakes and I have more than a couple of friends who got a surprise at delivery when they thought they knew what try were getting.

Buzzybee123 · 07/12/2013 20:34

sar I have seen 3 scans of my babys bits and honestly couldn't make anything out Hmm sorry about the numpty sonographer.

lemon good to see you here :)

critter you are tiny my lovely and beautiful as always, I wasn't sure about putting up my picture up but thought why not, people still think i'm fat but my bump is huge, sometimes I feel she is going to explode 'alien' style :)

princess sorry you haven't been well

mellow good news on little m's sight

gin I have 5 days and counting Grin work is a bit quiet so best to stop now although as I feel better I could have worked to the 20th but now have too many tea and cake afternoons planned, and 3 work do's aswell before xmas. Not to mention too many crafty projects to finish

Had a bit of a scare this morning with minibee not moving most likely slept through it was trying not to freak Barry out about it all, tried lying on my stomach, Barry gave my belly a good rub to see if anything happened but nada, I was about to call the hospital when I finally felt a bit of movement, so she is like her dad and can sleep like the bloody dead Hmm

Had to take Kayla to the vet today, talk about traumatic for us the vet has survived unscathed for another year Grin

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 08/12/2013 15:05

You are all so near... It's quite unbelievable! Can't wait for your flurry of births, just hope it comes with some long overdue bfps on the other thread!

All is well here, i've not been sick once, just knackered. I seem to be feeling a bit better, so I went to a pregnancy proof exercise class, it was wonderful but I have been unable to move since...

Ginestas · 08/12/2013 20:51

lemons yay, lovely to 'see' you over here. Hmm we need to tempt mad, as I think you're at a similar stage? Exercise class? I managed one preggo yoga one, but was then too knackered to do any more!

sar your scan sounds terrifying and the sonographer totally incompetent. The bump size thing is such bollocks. It does annoy me and I'm sure causes lots of unnecessary stress. Have you got any more scans or is that it? Re the gender, I think it's meant to be more obvious to see if it's a boy and even sonographers can struggle to confirm girls. However the sonographer should have respected your wishes and kept well away from the boy/girl bits.

I totally know what you mean about not being able to wait to meet the baby. I've got EVEN more immobile and can do v little now, apart from worry bout things going wrong! I just want the baby safely here. The waiting is hard...

buzz 5 days, wohoo! Enjoy your last week. I too get scared about ginster not moving. She's sometimes impossible to stir, but then 5 mins later starts thrashing about.

ele eewwww re blood dripping off your fingers. I'd have fainted at that! What on earth did they do to you?! I'm pleased you still have a moments in which to watch tv and eat chocolate :) Hamish sounds just adorable.

critter I know what you mean re posting bump pic on FB. The last thing I wanted to do was upset people (some of my v dear friends are having really tough ttc times at the mo, as well as some of the lovely ladies on here) but I felt I had to stop being in denial about the pregnancy, plus lots of people didn't know we're expecting, as we didn't do the big announcement thing. Just have to make sure I'm not one of those people who floods timelines with baby pics!

Waves and luffs to everyone else. Currently being horrified that the little Scottish kid has got through to X factor finals...

ArtemisTheHunter · 08/12/2013 22:38

Ha ha Gin I share your horror! Apart from the woman who can actually sing, X factor is like end of term karaoke. Mr A thinks Louis Walsh is a news report waiting to happen with his little boys. I think he's probably right.

Just popping in quickly while waiting for Mini Art to finish one of her never ending late feeds. She's dozed off at least 3 times but as soon as I unlatch her she cries to go back on. We've had a lot of excitement today with her 4 small cousins and she's been a bit grumpy as a result. I hate those busy days when she's passed around like some novelty toy, thankfully we don't have to endure them very often.

Good to hear everyone is well, hope you're feeling better now Princess. I had a milder version of your bug last weekend & had to miss my first post-baby night out, though at the time I didn't care. Terrific news Mellow about the little man's sight and good to hear of BLW and kiwi poo ele! I am going to a weaning seminar later this week and looking forward to the messy stage. Waiting in anticipation too for the next round of 10+ babies! Hope the fertility gods wake up soon, we are long overdue some more BFPs.

I need to try to get Mini A to sleep but just wanted to pop in and prove I haven't disappeared! I do keep checking for news - exciting times Smile

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/12/2013 09:04

Morning all, you should just pop over to the main thread, if you haven't already :)

Mad is way further than I, she's 17 weeks already Shock.

Eletheomel · 11/12/2013 12:33

Congrats for joining us lemon and agree that when you're 14 weeks you're still getting your head round pregnancy, let alone all the post baby stuff (seems a world away). Hopefully mad will join soon too. Well done on avoiding the dreaded morning sickness, hopefully the tiredness will ease soon and you'll get the second trimester glow (that I always heard about but never managed to get!)

I attended my second buggy bootcamp exercise class today. It's held outside in the local park and was great to get some fresh air and exercise although hamish isn't keen being in the buggy all that time, so I had to hold him whilst doing my lunges (20lb weight training, killed me!) and he wasn't happy when I was doing my abs exercises as I had to put him back in the buggy - it's a great class though, so I'm torn between knowing Hamish would rather I didn't do it, and me knowing that i really want to.

gin midwife said they had got a different type of venflon to use and that they were rubbish (could just have been a bad workman blaming her tools, but she was so good and made our birth experience so laid back that I refuse to blame her for it and am happy to blame dodgy manufacturer instead :-)

sar totally crap about sonographer letting gender out. My friends had a similar experience with the prenatal testing in that they left the gender on the paper they got their results on (when they were hoping for a suprise) so they knew they were having a boy. I think it's so crap when you decide that you don't want to know that some admin/crappy health worker spoils it for you. Mind you, now you know, it will make names shortlists so much easier since you won't have to focus on boys at all.

14 sleeps to christmas - can you believe it????

PrincessChick · 13/12/2013 08:50

Yay lemons so pleased you're over with us :) whoop!

Gin and Sar so close to meeting those lovely mini people. Like Ele I'm very jealous as my little princess is getting big and doing big girl things like eating real food, trying to crawl(!) and holding her arms out when she wants picking up (heart breakingly cute!) but the little floppy snuggly newborn days are over and she turns 6 months on Monday.

Art oh I winced when you said vegan as it takes me back to the brown diet days. shudders. We're lucky as we have an amazing vegetarian supermarket in Brighton which sells lots of wholefood vegan goodies, such as vegan cheesecake (no sheese here, cashew butter, lime and agave) and I still treat myself to a slice now and again. I was actually banned from all the replacement stuff unless it was a whole food on my strict regime. Can you have nice cheese for Xmas? Could you make breastmilk Brie Grin Shock Confused If you lived close by I would happily be your contraband dealer Wink Grin Out of interest how does he feel about weaning mini art? I was suddenly struck that I had been feeding mini princess meat without her "permission" ( though she ate it very happily) and felt very guilty. But talked to mr p and we only eat organic meat for ethical and health reasons so we figured that she can't be too cross with us and I'd happily accommodate a veggie child if she makes that decision when she can. We're off to see the extended outlaw family this weekend and it will not be fun, guaranteed. Mini princess will be the "dolly" and I will have to do my best to squash angry outbursts over ridiculous things (last time: "can you hurry up sand have more children as you NEED to have a boy otherwise the family name won't continue" Hmm Shock Angry and "I'll take her back now, she's getting upset" his nan "I don't care, I'm holding her!" And when she was crying to be fed I had to pull her off the stupid old bat and there was actual resistance as she clung into her, oh and not forgetting the who else wants a hold, when she was snuggled happily on my lap after a 12 hour day of pass the baby). Thank god they are far away!

Ele how is weaning going?? Buggy fitness training sounds very fun. They do that in Brighton but it's a bit of a faff to get to / park for me so I haven't tried it. I'd really like to start taking mini princess swimming in the new year. Yoga's finished for us (teacher moving back to nz) so I need to find some new stuff to do.

I have to crack on. Sorry to those missed. Xmas has arrived! Things to do and a day of packing for us ahead!

Luffs et al xx

Eletheomel · 13/12/2013 10:44

princess much sympathies on the inlaws, I had a nightmare with DS1 with the inlaws, made my life so stressful to the extent that even now I dread his parents coming round and they've been much better this time (Mr E had to have words last time as they were forever pissing us off). I remember having to tell MIL three times to give him my son as he was hungry, she said "he's eating my cardigan" I said "It's because he's hungry, I'll take him for a feed", she says, "no, he's fine.." I say, "No, I'll take him", she says "he'd soon let you know if he was hungry" (I imagine punching her, then physically start taking him out of her arms before she lets go of him). My poor boy was trying to eat wool!? But in her book, you dont' feed babies until they are screaming their lungs out as that is them 'telling' you... (bloody inlaws).

I'm raising both my boys veggie with the understanding that if they want to start eating meat at any point that's absolutely fine, I just wanted to give them a clean slate to start (and also, as I'm veggie and do all the cooking I'd never cook meat for them, so we have a veggie house and Mr E eats his meat elsewhere Grin.

Hamish's brother has just turned 4 and just started asking questions about it all, so we've had some classic 'daddy do you eat monkey?' questions going on, he also asked 'daddy do you eat horse' and when Mr E said No, I had to point out that well, he doesn't really know that.... Grin. He may well turn carnivore when he starts school, but for now he thinks eating meat is 'disgusting' so Mr E is on his own.

Weaning is going fine, he seems to be liking it so far (I'm a bit lacksadaisical and sometimes he gets lunch and dinner or bfast and dinner or bfast and lunch and other days he just gets lunch or dinner, but he's only been on solids for 2 weeks so I'm not worried, think we did this last time round too).

He's still not in a highchair as he can't sit up by himself for long (although he's getting better) so he has to sit on our knee for teatimes which is very messy (for us!) It'll be good when he can sit in his highchair and we can just put stuff on his tray and let him at it.

His sleeping seems to be much worse since weaning though, he's having random poohs (sometimes at night) more gas (which can wake him up) and he's feeding more often during the night (sometimes 2 hourly) probably a coincidence but I can't help thinking its linked to his digestion system having to work a bit harder now. He used to sleep so well too, ah well, we made the most of it while it lasted :-D

I was so pleased about the buggy class as I'd looked for buggy fit classes nearby and there was none, and then found out about this class run by an independent trainer (who does a 'normal' fitness class in our wee town once a week) who has just branched out into post natal fitness. So, very lucky really (although suffering from DOMS today...)

Princess and eleth - what is it with pushy relies? Why would anyone keep a baby from its mother? Why would anyone resist handing a baby back or contradict what the mother says the baby needs. Bloody selfish. Not looking forward to that element - however im quite lucky with extended family and can't imagine anyone behaving that way. Although im sure there is time to be surprised yet.

Eleth - well done in getting to buggy boot camp. Might look in to that myself in the spring.

art - sorry you have been under the weather too and missed your first post baby night out. I remember the days of going on numerous nights out and drinking and wishing to high heaven that I didn't have to due to a demanding baby. But nothing in life stays the same and I guess the desire to get out and have a couple of drinks rears itself once more. I know I have started looking wistfully at normal clothes again and imagining what outfits id like to wear. Where as only a few weeks and months a go I was desperate to wear maternity clothes.I take this as a sign that I am ready for the next stage. Sorry, I am prattling on about nothing arent I??!!

Gin - is today your due day? How are you feeling and what have you been up to? Are you getting millions of irritating texts? Really hoping you are currently in the midwife unit having a dreamy birth and holding little gin in your arms!!

Well things got exciting for a short time this morning in the sar house. After a particularly bad and extra agitated nights non sleep with even more wee trips than usual I awoke to a dull but persistent ache accross my bump and lower back. I went downstairs and it remained for a good hour or 2. I then realised I needed a poo which was easy and lose but not diarrhea (sorry for big overshare). Then 1 vomit half an hour later. After which all exciting cramps and aches subdided and i have felt normal since so this won't lead to anything as it had totally disappeared now. I am 39 weeks +2. I am sure it was a bit of pre labour stuff but that could easily mean 2 weeks pre labour. I do get the mucus discharge (not bloody) quite a bit but again this doesnt mean anything is imminent. I am symptom spotting like the ttc years but I cant complain as having the baby is a certainty and not a mental head mess like before.

Hello to everyone.
