Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

I have arranged more head tickling for tomorrow morning :) Yay

On my old laptop in bed, it's not half as good as the one me and OH share. But I get to now watch DVDs. :) How I met your mother is the first I shall be watching. Until I am at the point of falling asleep - not because it's boring, just because I'm knackered!

Hoorah!!!! Have just had a very favourable sweep (2cm already) and if LO does not go bump in the night I am being induced at 8am tomorrow! x

feralgirl · 05/09/2011 12:31

Happy EDDs Sebs and Misty!

Well, I had a crap night's sleep again, woke up at 5.30 and had some RLT and toast which I then promptly threw straight back up again! I managed to convince myself that this meant I was going into labour (it was the first thing I did last time) but, six hours on nothing else has bloody happened so I haven't put on the hot water for the pool yet Sad

100years, my plug last time wasn't coloured and I have got a lot of - TMI - as you put it "slimy stuff" today which is pretty gruesome. I am also quite snotty; I never knew that could be a symptom. In my case it may very well just be hayfever though Confused

Minky, I'm so very sorry that you're in so much pain. It must be grim for you but well done for being so well organised through it all.

And Conker, that's a really good point about this being the last time we'll feel like this. I am definitely not having a another so, actually, that's made me a bit Sad to think that these will be the final times that I feel kicks and nudges from the inside and soon it'll be the last time I'll get the crazy euphoria of being immediately post-birth.

I'm going to sit here and force myself to finish the school work that I started the other day now, otherwise there is no way that I'll ever get it done.

loomer · 05/09/2011 12:51

Good afternoon, and sending lots of positive labour vibes for everyone who's on or even well past their due date by now... come on you babies!

minky I think you've been amazing to put up with all that you have for so long, not long now until you'll meet your little troublemaker, I hope that the codeine does the job meanwhile.

bumpy, thanks for posting your birth story - sorry to hear that you didn't get the HB you had hoped for in the end, you sound remarkably positive though. How are you doing now?

I'm finally feeling a little more ready for the arrival of the next DC, as we managed to clear the front room of boxes sufficiently to get the pool blown up yesterday, no leaks even though it's been stuck in DH's workshop for the past five years! And then a friend popped round this morning to drop off a pristine moses basket and stand, so the little blighter won't have to sleep in a cardboard box after all. We're practically there now, I just have to pack a hospital bag 'just in case' my experience turns out a little closer to Bumpy's than anticipated.

ssmile, just wanted to say well done with persevering on the BF front - did you manage a public feed yesterday? Anyone else in the park to glare at you? I remember sitting on a towpath once BF DD and being astonished afterwards when my DH commented on how many passing people had been throwing 'none-too-impressed' looks in my direction - I was totally oblivious, thankfully. I really cannot understand how anyone can get upset about something so natural and necessary.

CBear, you did make me chuckle, balling up socks in the early hours. Can't believe you tried to get DH to put pushchair together as well! Hope you had a better night after all that fresh air and exercise. I can't remember the last time I slept for more than two hours at a stretch - thankfully it usually only takes a change of sides and pillow positioning to get comfy again, but I do have to make an effort to keep my mind blank and not start thinking about Stuff That Needs Doing...

100 years, I can't help much re. mucus plug advice - I never really noticed losing mine last time, although it does sound from others experiences like it's usually coloured in some way? I am copying you on the 'restful day' plan today, DD is back at school now so am able to slob on sofa without being told repeatedly that I'm "being lazy", blissful! Hope your rest has the desired effect and kicks something off tonight.

Enjoy your Monday everybody!

jimmijam · 05/09/2011 13:27

Ive not read last few posts yet but
have a feeling someone on this thread will b birthing 2day (not me tho) :+)

100years · 05/09/2011 13:58

Hey Sewmuch, that's great news, not long indeed for you then. Fingers crossed the sweep does it's thing and the induction isn't needed.

feral, yuk to the vomiting, glad it was only the once. Thanks for the plug advice, it wasn't loads and loads but there was a definite wodge of stuff there.

Loomer, glad your LO won't have to sleep in a cardboard box :) Enjoy your restful day too.

jimmi, nothing is happening here yet, so I doubt it will be me that's joining the other thread today.

Am enjoying my day in bed :) Had a little snooze earlier, got up, had some lunch and cooked some biscuits again as family and visitors made short work of the ones we had made the other day.

Couple of mild niggly pains, but that's it, booooring!!! OH has started telling LO to come out!!! Bless him. It's very cute.

Plumber is here today finishing off the central heating. I'd forgotten that he turned up when I was well into the second stage. I do remember screaming my head off at DH for not calling him and telling him not to come. Poor sod actually did try to call but couldn't get through. Wonder if anyone's ever had a plumber attend a birth before. I guess the equipment is very similar.Grin

Good luck with everyone due this week. Hope your LOs arrive soon.

xx

MrsSawyer · 05/09/2011 14:46

Good luck to everyone having symptoms today (not me!!), 100years you have to be soon, its sounds ever closer, and good vibes to sewmuchtodo, hope all goes well.

sebs71 · 05/09/2011 14:55

Oh, bumpy sorry but that really made me laugh... Plumber turning up for your water birth with his plunger!! Hope all is well with you and little one :)

sewtoomuch WHEY! Hope it all kicks off tonight then! Good labour vibes going your way ... Confused

loomer good news on getting sorted. Must be a weight off your mind... hope you have some relaxing time now :)

TP - definitely the best way, keeping busy. Keeps mind of the obvious!!

feral oooh, sorry on the being sick front - not nice. Hope you felt better during the day, and the school work managing to keep you from thinking too much about it being EDD.

100years hope you've enjoyed a restful day, and change of tactic works! If not, good luck tomorrow with sweep #2.

Didn't know that feeling cold-like could be an early symptom... let's hope!

I've had a friend round for long catch up (and cakes Grin) and it's been a great distraction from the whole it being EDD. Had lots of "any twinges?" texts! DSS home from school soon... days feel much shorter now... much better :)

Got midwife appt tmw... hoping she offers a sweep. Glad I've got an appointment - it's been a while since my last one, and want to know what (if anything...) is going on!!

Jojo1983 · 05/09/2011 15:05

Hi everyone
No signs here (Sob!) but I am only still 37+4 so thats probably why. Got midwives on Friday cant wait to hear his heartbeat again always makes me want to cry. Anyone know the earliest the midwives can do a sweep??

Good luck sewtoomuch! And fingers crossed everyone due today!

Annie456 · 05/09/2011 15:53

Just been for 3 mile walk and a sweep! Midwife said head is fully engaged and am 1-2cm dilated with soft cervix. Had mega bad cramps all day so really really hope this works!!! Right, pineapple next, then more RL tea. Don't really feel like DTD so I'm hoping the long walk will make up for that bit! Xxx

tiddleypompom · 05/09/2011 16:20

Ooooooo - there are SO many positive symptoms and signs, there MUST be a baby (or 3) soon?! How thrilling, I can't wait to hear :o

jojo don't leave me too soon! I agree about the heartbeat by the way - the closer it gets to meeting our babies the more connected I feel, and every prod and sign makes me emotional!

annie I'm impressed with your walk - does it take you ages? I had an active day schleping about in town with a fair amount of walking, and ended up getting quite tight and stitchy - shattered now of course so have settled down for a spot of ball bouncing, RLT, tea loaf and catch up on everyone's progress.

Today has gone so fast - hoping this is a trend that will continue throughout the next couple of weeks..

Good luck to all those progressing to next stage of your labours :)

feralgirl · 05/09/2011 16:25

Go on Annie! That sounds like you could be on your way.

And Grin Grin Grin at Bumpy's plumber. That is just too funny. It's made me wonder whether I should make a sign for the front door...

And I've just been sick again Sad How on earth am I supposed to keep up my strength for going into labour if I (a) get no sleep and (b) can't keep any food down

tiddleypompom · 05/09/2011 16:36

Poor you feral! Just think about that tea and toast whilst you wallow in post-delivery bliss with your beautiful baby and very impressed and adoring DP...sigh....

Being sick is a good sign though, no? Just so sorry you have to have that particular good sign :(

100years · 05/09/2011 16:58

Oh dear Bumpy, glad he's come back though and not been scared off by a labouring woman :)

MrsS I would like to think I am, however I'm not convinced anymore!

Thanks sebs, I've not had so many texts about "has anything happened" I've had a few, but not to the point of annoyment. The restful day has been fab.

jojo, I think they usually do a sweep at around 40 weeks, but unless the cervix is softening or open then they are ineffective, much as they can still be ineffctive when your cervix is open slightly!!!

Oooh that's good stuff Annie, fingers crossed for you :)

TP we went to Pizza Express last night, so I was very close to you. :) My days haven't slowed down in terms of how long they take yet, thankfully. :)

Yuk feral, :(

My OH has spent the day working from home, and has been in and out of the bedroom asking me if she has come out yet. He's taken to talking into my bump saying come out now!!!

CBear6 · 05/09/2011 17:45

DH thought I was on my way this morning when I rang him at work and demanded he meet me at the hospital. Not so. DS went backwards off our bed and hit the skirting board, huge lump on the back of his head but then his nose started bleeding a few minutes later so I decided to take him to minor injuries unit to get checked over. He's fine (and walked into a door at the unit, giving himself a bump on the front) but I was a hormonal mess. Managed to lose my cardigan somewhere too.

Loomer, you sound like you're all set for the big event with some time left over to relax :)

Annie, fingers crossed you're on your way, it all sounds very promising! And good luck for tomorrow Sebs, wishing both of you speedy deliveries and can't wait for the birth announcements.

Bumpy, the plumber story made me laugh!

Feral, being sick is no fun, I feel so bad for you. It could be part of the big pre-labour clear out though?

I've got six days until my due date and a sweep scheduled for a week today. Anyone got any sweep tips? I had one with DS to try speed things along, but I was already in labour, 4cms dilated, and the MW did it during a contraction so I didn't feel it. Google is not a good source of non-scary information! I know it's not going to be agonising or anything but should I be prepared? Was thinking a couple of pads in my bag in case of bleeding and maybe a towel/blanket for the car in case my waters go? Obviously I have high expectations of the power of the sweep!

Jojo1983 · 05/09/2011 18:31

Tiddley i'm just so bored of waiting but knowing my luck I will go over anyway then we can both chat to each other on here as everyone will leave us lol

100 thanks for the info will ask my midwife on friday

100years · 05/09/2011 18:34

Cbear sorry to hear about your DS poor thing both him and you and your DH for thinking it was going on. Re the sweep I just relaxed as mug as possible. I found it like having a smear which I have no problem with. I had no bleeding or waters going straight away (or rather at all) but if I have another tomorrow and things happen I'll let you know.

Jojono worries. Hope she can answer your questions.

Minkyjj · 05/09/2011 19:20

Oh so exciting ladies - I think some of you will all end up going at once !
I made the fatal mistake today of eating half a tin of prunes after taking the maximum dose of lactulose. You see, as I am on painkillers I don't want to risk getting bunged up as that will happen badly with the csection anyway. Tmi on it's way. Anyhow, all was fine until my stomach started rumbling and I honestly thought I would pass out with the rumbles. Still didn't have any positive effect on the old natural labour so I have decided that curry is on the agenda tonight - lucky for poor dh he is sleeping in the guest room as it could be quite a shock for the senses under my duvet later Wink
Trying to get ds1 to go to sleep tonight ready for year2 of school tomorrow appears not to be working so far yet I could quite happily sleep for England if I could just get comfortable !
Come on babies - it's time to meet your parents - you know you want to ! Grin

Minkyjj · 05/09/2011 19:22

Cbear and feral - hopefully the last days will be much easier for you guys - will be worth it in the end Smile

100years · 05/09/2011 21:52

Jojo sorry about the mistake in your name earlier. Was an iPhone autocorrect thing :(

Right I've finished the blanket I was making LO so the stubborn little bu99er can come out now lol

And I've seen another mistake in my post from earlier. Obviously my brain is switching off. Ah well.

Still nada to report. Let's hope the sweep in the morning does the trick.

OP posts:
Conkertree · 05/09/2011 22:27

Did a second bump cast tonight as ds1 put his hand on the other one and damaged it a bit, but kind of fainted in the middle so maybe we left it too late.

Hope tonight sees some action for some of you.

feralgirl · 05/09/2011 23:37

Hey hey, my waters have just broken so, thank christ, it looks like the end is in sight!

Sewmuchtodo · 06/09/2011 03:21

Wow Feral, fab news!

Cbear, hope the poor sould is ok today and no more non-maternity related trips to hospital are needed :)

Any news Annie and 100yrs?

Conker, sounds like its time to put your feet up and relax :)

Well im still here! Have lost a little plug but back ache seems to have gotten better (of all the times I need it to get worse), so looks like the induction is on for the morning. Can't decide if I am wide awake with nerves or excitement Confused
