A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If people have had ultrasounds recently, then the note book contains graphs where they plot various measurements against weight and centile. Even that can be out and only gives you an indication of what they measured at time of scans. Estimated weight from there is based on baby growing according to the centile it landed on. Everything else is even more guesswork

bilblio · 16/08/2011 18:04

I'll gladly bow out of the big baby competition. DD was 7lb 1oz and that was enough. :o
My nephew was 13lb 13.5oz! He was delivered by emergency CS eventually. Thankfully I think he gets his (big Scottish) genes from his Mum who isn't blood related to me or DH.
I feel huge but I can't compare how I was last time with this time as I've lost so much weight.

BB3 So sorry to hear things aren't likely to go you wanted. Just take it easy and concentrate on getting to 36 weeks.

BB3 · 16/08/2011 18:30

Oooh now I can't wait til they are all born and we can see their weights lined up!!! DS was only 6.5 and hoofing him out left enough scars!!! 13lb 13.5oz!! Anyone else crossing there legs about now?!!! Grin

BB3 · 16/08/2011 18:32

Oh thanks bilblio and Cheshire am feeling better. I'm disappointed but the babies have their own plans I just need to accept it!

SconesForTea · 16/08/2011 19:17

You have inspired me to measure and I am 40 inches Mind you I'm only 30w and only carrying one

BB3 commiserations, but everyone is right, as long as your babies arrive safe and sound that's all that matters. I'm sure you'll make it to 36 weeks and have a nice, calm CS Smile

PA glad your bloods are finally sorted! What did you do with your DD-free time? I gave upstairs a thorough hoover and painted a door Smile Booooooooring but necessary.

I doubt I'll be in the running in the big baby competition (I hope not anyway - ouch ouch ouch); DD was born 2 weeks late and 7lb 4oz, so I'm hoping for another similarly sized one this time. La la la I can't hear you to anyone who says second babies are bigger.

(My money's on sassy Wink)

PenguinArmy · 16/08/2011 19:50

I did the only thing I could, had a nap Grin

37inches around widest part of stomach, I assume that's what your doing

bump hasn't grown though, wonder if it's because he's round my sides and spread out but low.

DD at sub 7lbs did enough damage, i don't think this one will be above 8lbs. I'm betting 7 and half if term, low 7's if early with CS

bilblio · 16/08/2011 20:18

Gulp, I'm 44" and 30 weeks.
Fingers crossed breastfeeding helps me lose lots or I'll be back to slimming world again.

I can't be that concerned though, I've just requested DH get me some minstrels from the shop. :o
I'm not sure if it's LO craving sweet things, or me after having so many months of being good.

sassy34264 · 16/08/2011 20:24

Blush i sent my daughter to the shop for chocolate also bilbo except my instructions were to get a box of roses! im sure i could put up a good argument if pushed to, about the justification of being pregnant and needing a box of roses on a tuesday!

PenguinArmy · 16/08/2011 20:27

I wanted to strop as everyone went out but didn't leave me any chocolate Blush

Don't know where any good stuff is in the UK though. Had a quick look in Holland and Barrett but I think America spoiled me :(

BB3 · 16/08/2011 20:43

Sorry to divert from chocolate (FYI cadbury dairy milk and galaxy are your friends here in the uk)...

sassy did you know magic8ball from the twins thread? If so a friend of hers just let us know that sadly she passed away yesterday. Her twin girls were 6 months old and she had a 4 year old DD. Just wanted to let you know in case you had got to know her. Theres more info on the thread if you wanted to pop over x while I didn't know her as it was before my time on the thread, it puts my whinging into perspective Sad her poor family. Xx

BB3 · 16/08/2011 20:49

penguin holland & Barrett? Who sent you there for chocolate? It's far too healthy to have the good stuff Smile

PenguinArmy · 16/08/2011 20:52

sorry am a vegan so most commercial chocolate no good. US chocolate in general may be bad but vegan desserts they knew how to do! I brought some over with me but it's all gone, doesn't help I can't help but eat a whole large bar in one sitting.

Sorry about the other poster BB3 it's amazing how hard these things can hit you. A few stories here have stuck with me for days.

BB3 · 16/08/2011 20:58

Ah that explains it!!!! Ooh I dont know but the bigger supermarkets do free from ranges I think waitrose dies a vegan range or sainsburys!

I know it's very sad. I didn't know her personally but she is on our list over there and the thought of leaving behind such s young family is awful xx

BB3 · 16/08/2011 20:58

Does not dies!

PenguinArmy · 16/08/2011 21:03

I did exactly the same typo on a thread the other day but was referring to someone's DH.

I'm in in very working class (well most people would have to be working for that)-ville atm, so no waitrose for miles and a tiny tiny sainsbury's. We should be getting keys to a house in the town we're moving to on Friday if checks go through OK and then I won't be the oldest person by far to be pg. Also people might not play their music really loudly and maybe go a day without seeing a cop car racing round with it's lights on Hmm

sassy34264 · 16/08/2011 21:51

omg, i did know her. im crying, thats so sad . do you know what happened? i remember her cos her dp wasnt very supportive and sounded like a selfish man. she didnt seem to get much help and wasnt expecting much when the twins arrived. she was so chatty, you know that some of us drop in and out and some are around all the time and she was always chatting. i cant believe how awful this is. i cant think of anything worse for children than losing their mother so young. they wont even have memories. its tragic.

bilblio · 16/08/2011 22:42

So sad to hear about people with young children dying, or being seriously ill. I've known one too many at the moment. :( Maybe I've just got to that age though.
It really does put your life in perspective when you see how tough some people have it, and often how brave they are too.

penguin I've just done a search on google shopping for dairy free chocolate and Asda has come up! I was thinking Thorntons may do something, I know they sell diabetic chocolate, but Asda really shocked me... whether they have it in store is another thing though.

BB3 · 17/08/2011 00:12

sassy her friend mentioned she has an existing heart problem which they believe was the cause.

Sorry I didn't mean to upset you x hope you're ok. Xx

sassy34264 · 17/08/2011 07:18

i had a look last night bb3 and saw that. i dont know why i cried so bad- ive never met her. couldnt stop and had to phone dp. said to him, i think its cos it could just happen so suddenly. he managed to calm me down- told me it wont happen to us cos its all part of his pact with the 'big man'. (its a daft in-joke from years ago.) made me smile.
anyway, i dont think its supposed to rain today where i am, so i guess i best get some washing out- oh im living the life!

BB3 · 17/08/2011 07:52

Ah sassy I'm so sorry - there's me telling you to rest yesterday then making you upset in the evening! I was really bothered about it yesterday evening and couldn't settle - I think because it's a bit too close to home (the idea of not being around for the twins and DS) and must have been harder for you had the twins at similar times. But I'm pleased DP cheered you up (they are good sometimes!).

We're overcast but not raining yet although I have a mountain of ironing to get through. DS is going out with nanny and grandad so I can get some work done! I'm
hoping we don't have too much of a manic day work wise so I can get my personal bits done too. Blush

sassy34264 · 17/08/2011 09:47

its ok bb3 you werent to know i would react like that- i didnt know i would. im fine this morning. x

monkeybubbles · 17/08/2011 10:54

penguinarmy i know it's not very helpful if you're not in london, but whole foods have a huge selection of vegan chocolate...maybe you can send someone to pick some up for you

legsy · 17/08/2011 11:17

Just found this thread and wanted to say hello. Haven't really engaged much with baby preparations and chat as I've been busy with work and DS1 who's 3 but it's nice to read all your posts.

I'm due 12 October though DS1 was 4 weeks early and it's entirely possible this one will be too (funny shaped uterus, not so much space - will spare you the rest of the details) so I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for a September baby which is all beginning to feel a bit too close for comfort!

FWIW, I never bought any BF tops first time round either as I'm very tall and nothing seemed to fit. I found camisole vest type tops under cardigans that you could unbutton halfway seemed to be the best solution.

PenguinArmy · 17/08/2011 11:41

I love wholefoods! Didn't realise they had one over here. The one in Oakland, San Francisco is heaven but they did vary a lot.

Hello legsy This one needs to stay until October so there's a chance we've moved into our place and be ready for it. Even if yours is a Sept baby, you can stay with the Oct threads. At least with us having winter babies, layering regular clothes for feeding will be easier. I think all the time I fed her in the day at home I would just whip off my top.

sassy34264 · 17/08/2011 12:54

forgot to say that dp told me last night that he might have to fly out to dubai for work on oct 3 (my birthday) and only 3 weeks before my due date. was not impressed. just said, can someone else not do it? got a very reluctant- i suppose so. umph.

hello legsy.
