A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:08

monkey hugely good thoughts coming your way!!! Are they hoping it slows down or are they happy for LO to come now? It's very exciting - sending very excited baby bus vibes to you and DH xxxx

sassy I don't have this pains but get lots in that area! At the moment as soon as I need a wee it feels like my cervix is falling out Blush and I get cramping when I need a number 2 so figure pains etc must be something to do with babies position!

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:13

Penelope lol at good date for baby to come! In terms of telling people we have a list of people we will call from hospital the same day (parents, brothers and sisters, grandfather etc). Then a list of very close friends who we'll text the news too then an email for all the others like work colleagues etc

cheekydino · 13/09/2011 07:15

Lots of luck monkeybubbles! Hope you managed to get some sleep last night. Good thoughts are heading your way as requested!

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:19

groovy Christmas will be extra special this year I get soppy all the time both directions sad worrying about DS, happy that we will be a big family all together - I'm just impatient now to het my new family and start working put how we alight together.

sassy would love for it to happen today although I don't think it will!!!

cheekydino · 13/09/2011 07:24

BB3 - my CS is two weeks tomorrow so you'll beat me to it - wonder if we can trust those dates?! It is very weird having a date, but knowing it might happen before then. Am banking on you being first now and reassuring me that it is a lovely experience and nothing to worry about. As obviously you will be updating from your hospital bed within a few hours of delivery Wink!

groovyrach I am already thinking about Christmas too but in a bad way! As soon as we hit september my MIL wanted us to confirm that we are going there for christmas, and has not accepted our 'we'll decide nearer the time' response! A 5 hour journey to stay with them with a toddler that gets carsick and a new baby does not fill me with joy.

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:25

Oh and 36 weeks today!!

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:30

Oooh cheeky I'll be sure to update xx I'm hoping it's a bit before then as I reckon I've not got much left in me to keep going at this size for much longer!! But they seem very comfy in there! I'm sure it'll be fine and if it's not I'm hoping it'll be worth it when I get my little babies x saw one of the faces quite close up yesterday and it was all chubby and squishy and one twin has lots of hair - am so impatient to meet them. The sonograper did give a bit too much away and we know at least one of them is a girl now!

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:36

Sorry for lots of posts keep remembering / forgetting and posting from phone!

Christmas - please make his mother wait until you are ready to decide. It's easy for us as we live next door to my parents, DH's live in a different country and are Muslim and don't celebrate Christmas so we go to mums every year!n My DSis has to travel 2.5 hours to her il's this Christmas (who are a bit odd) and don't think she is looking forward too it - more so lugging everything up and back (with Xmas gifts) and a 6 month old and having to stay over the night before and night of Xmas because it would be too much travel x maybe avoid it until LO is born and then hope they forget whilst cooing over the new baby so you have more time to decide xxx

monkeybubbles · 13/09/2011 07:43

I guess it was just wishful thinking...no change yet, and had hardly any sleep in a room with 3 other women in labour! No wonder they tell you to stay home for as long as possible!
Hoping to be seen soon this morning, but not sure as they are so busy that they had to shut the doors to patients last night.
All I can think about is food, if this baby arrives today I may name them 'Blueberry Waffles'...it has a nice ring to it :)

BB3 · 13/09/2011 07:54

GrinGrin at bluberry waffles! Have you been having contractions through the night? The labour wards are awful - that was the worst part of my long labour with DS! I had a really irritating woman 'labouring' next to me who was making the most ridiculous puffing and panting and weeping noises about how bad her contractions were then promptly fell asleep for the entire night (seriously I was in agony and no way I could have slept so listening to her go from 'extreme pain' to snoring in the space of 10 minutes made me irrationally angry Grin. Am shocked they closed the doors to patients though! When do you think you will get to see someone? At least you know either way it won't be too long until LO arrives xx

Bubalie · 13/09/2011 08:47

Morning all, it has been busy here last night! monkey I hope you are ok, I ended up in hospital when i was 21 weeks for fibroid problem and was in the room with 3 other women in labour one of them was screaming so loudly it had put me off everything - it's not really good seeing and hearing people who are in established labour when you are not! I hope all goes well for you.

I am waiting to hear from the hospital this morning as they are supposed to call me and tell me when to come for my growth scan, been stressing about it since Thursday and can't wait to go and check things out..

happymummytobe how strange my right foot and ancle get swollen every night, but my left one is ok! My baby is laying on my right hand side and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that Confused

It is so exciting to know that we will have some babies here soon :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 13/09/2011 09:11

monkey so excited for you :-)

I'm shocked though that there are hospitals who have u in shared rooms when in labour! My local hospital has all labour rooms private (then you go into post natal ward with others) I always just assumed you would always have a private room to labour in at least.

I can't wait till baby's here but think I've got a few weeks yet.
I'm being a really ungrateful bitch and taking back some of the gifts I got from work Blush just really think it's better to get something I'll use instead. (one of my gifts were a matching raincoat and wells for a newborn) Confused

Scheherezade · 13/09/2011 09:21

crossing fingers for you monkey - like the others, I will be very happy but jealous for you!

Someone has posted us a load of baby clothes, so am sat waiting for the postman feeling very excited! Just want this week to pass as quickly as poss, as we have another scan next week, and then we'll crack on with the ECV/deciding our options.

I don't have a birth ball :( and can't really afford to buy one. I will just rock on the edge of the sofa, though I find it hurts my bump to lean forwards at all. Stupidly ate tea on my lap last night - baby went absolutely mental at getting squished up and I had to put up with extra violent jabs in my side for quite a while afterwards!

When are others washing baby clothes & bedding? I don't want to do it too early, as don't want it getting dusty waiting - it could potentially be another 6 weeks yet!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 13/09/2011 09:33

I've washed and ironed clothes and sheets this week and I've potentially got 6 weeks left

rebelwithoutababy · 13/09/2011 09:33

Monkey so excited for you and keeping all fingers crossed! Hope you get some peace and quiet soon though!
Happy and Penelope: just a quick thought, if one leg is consistently more swollen than other + painful, might be worth mentioning to GP/MW: unlikely, but make sure it is not DVT (blood clot)...please don't get worried though!
Scheherezade: I have been wondering about timing of washing too! Think am just going to get on with it this week....
Had MW appointment last night and all approved for birthing centre + hypnobirthing, so am v pleased.
Love to all
xx

BB3 · 13/09/2011 09:44

bubalie hope you hear from them soon.

Edward all labour rooms are private but you normally only go there when on full labour. Later and early labour patients are put in smaller shared wards while it progresses in most hospitals I think.

BB3 · 13/09/2011 09:56

scheh I washed all mine about 4-6 weeks ago and I still have 2 weeks left. Grin

Edward if you're able too I would take them an exchange them - the baby will never wear them and you could get more useful things. If anyone asks you could always say it didn't fit / zip was faulty or something and so you took it back and exchanged it! I'm awful with gifts. I love getting them but find it hard to hide disappointment when I dont like something (am REALLY bad at lying or hiding things!).

I've got the day to myself again today so contemplated being really lazy and watching DVDs again but have decided against it so have changed all the beds and have first load of washing on for today, have sorted out all my mat clothes in the cupboard into those I won't wear and those I will post babies making room
For when my pre baby clothes eventually come out the loft! I'm going to clean the house as it's got into that state where there is just stuff around in every room, sort out paperwork (car tax etc) pop to the shops for birthday cards, order Ds' presents from the babies and then watch DVDs! Wink

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 13/09/2011 10:09

What kind of presents are you buying for older DC from babies? I need some ideas

BB3 · 13/09/2011 10:32

Edward I am only getting little bits as DS doesn't really like presents (he likes toys don't get me wrong but not the unwrapping and attention of it all) and it's not far til Christmas.

I think I am going to get him a supermarket till and basket of food (he likes the sound they make and likes emptying all the food out) and probably some books / toys that make sounds and help with his speech (he has very delayed speech). That way they can all be kind of sat in a pile waiting for him when we get home and he can go straight to them.

Penelope1980 · 13/09/2011 10:36

Scheherezade I have washed all mine now, couldn't really help myself! Am 38 weeks though and hopefully it won't be long

BabCNesbitt · 13/09/2011 11:56

monkeybubbles, good luck - how exciting! Hope you don't have to sit too long in the shared ward :)

I've already washed most of the clothes I have! I got a massive pile of newborn clothes from a friend - the wee yin will probably be able to wear a new babygro 3 times a day and still never repeat one until she's grown out of them all!

34 weeks today

sunface · 13/09/2011 12:07

hi all, infrequent poster here! i'm 37+3 today and getting very excited!!! just wondering though about braxton hicks... i get the odd sensation of bump tightening but i'm not sure whether it's just baby's back or bum moving round or whether it's BH? I never had BH with my other DC's so don't really know what they feel like. I've also been feeling a bit nauseous today but again, not sure if thats indicative of anything either!

Haven't washed any of the baby clothes and, gulp, haven't even packed my hospital bag yet!!! Have you all done this already????

GroovyRach · 13/09/2011 12:13

Hello! Was hoping to come on this morning to the news of first baby!! Can't wait to hear an update on what's happening Smile

I washed all my baby clothing last month. I live in a flat so took it all to my parents to hang out to dry. Nothing beats that smell of 'outside dry' clothes! Been washing sheets/blankets etc as I've bought them. Nursery is all set up now, just need to pick and order a moses basket this week Smile

Had mw this morning, she is def head down but not yet engaged in my pelvis Sad. She was a little concerned that maybe placenta was blocking the way (had low laying at 20 wk scan but had moved a few cm out of way by 32 wks) so if she still isn't engaged in nxt 2 wks, they will investigate and I think re scan. Told me to try rocking on ball and swimming so that's my plan for 2mrw! Iron levels still low so I got givin a big list of foods to try as I've been struggling with the tablets. I'll be glad when this is over and I can have my body back!! On good note though, baby is good size Smile

Have good day all x

mpops · 13/09/2011 12:39

monkeybubbles DUDE! Good luck! Hope you get to meet your baby soon and that you are both fine and happy!

sassy34264 · 13/09/2011 14:36

scheh does it have to be a specific birthing ball? arent the gym balls just the same? ignore me if they're not, but the likes of tesco and argos do them for under £10.
monkey good luck, sending baby vibes!
sunface i havent washed or packed anything either. really started to bug me now though. just need to do it. planned on buying button fastening nighties this weekend but it didnt happen. we did buy a car though. picking it up today. a 7 seater for all the tribe!
on sat, instead of nightie shopping etc, went out car shopping in the morning and then spent most of the afternoon in the pub(s). we went with dp's family-sil, mil, bil etc. there was 12 adults and 3 kids. (twins and sils ds)had carvery and a bottomless soft drink -woohoo- living the life! Grin

tmi coming up. just had a bath- laying on bed complete naked now while i get my breath back- sexy!!!! anyway, when i took my underwear off to get in there was a pink tinge in it. any ideas? never happened before either. got an appointment at the hospital tomorrow for a diabetic meeting and a scan, hopefully they can tell me whats going on cos its not normal to me.
