A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cheekydino · 12/09/2011 13:57

Oh my! I miss a week of the thread and there are pages and pages! You can tell that the end is in sight and that we are all getting scared/excited...I have no hope of remembering everyone's posts, but pleased to hear some babies that needed to turn have done and hope that others follow suit. For the other c section people - I too am down for one which has now been booked for 28th September - but will stay on this bus as I feel at home here! Am absolutely terrified about the procedure but hoping it will be more calm and enjoyable than my last birth.

Hope everyone is coping with the aches and pains and constant movement monitoring. I keep worrying that things are starting as I'm having lots of BHs and random pains, but no other signs yet.

Feel sorry for those of you still working - hope the end comes soon and you get chance to relax before baby comes.

37+2 today!! never thought I'd hit full term after my little prem ds, am hoping I'll get used to the huge size of this one (apparently on for a giant according to the measurements) and manage to BF her.

rebelwithoutababy · 12/09/2011 14:06

Hi all, sorry not to be able to respond to individual postings, but am desperately trying to finish everything off at work: 8 days to go (7 after this one) as I am working one day each week at home...yay! Second the birthing ball for turning babies, and snap Cheshire, we're doing our birthplan with hypnobirth practitioner tomorrow night. Got MW appointment tonight, so am wondering if they will be able to tell if LO is engaged at all (I don't think so, though) and also going to go through birthplan with them...hope they don't think I am a bonkers hairy hippy for my hypnobirth approach...!
36+1 today!!
xx

seasaltbaby · 12/09/2011 14:17

Hi everyone, I was on the bus at the beginning but fell off as unable to keep up, so hoping I can hop back on please! I've just spent an age reading through all the posts to keep up which was lovely. We are getting so near the end now...who will be the first-maybe you cheekydino!!

well up until Friday my pregnancy had been going very smoothly other than the usual complaints of heartburn, tiredness, backache etc. Then (whilst at work!) on Friday I suddenly began bleeding with no warning. I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance and it was very scary. however the bleeding had stopped by time I got there and fortunately everything seems ok with me and the bubs but they've not said why this might have happened. I was kept in overnight which was awful, but possibly good practice for what might be coming up! poor DH was beside himself with worry but we're getting over it now. I've got today and tomorrow off work & seeing MW for 34 week appointment tomorrow which might hopefully offer some more reassurance! In the meantime I'm making most of couple quiet days at home & catching up on MN!

GroovyRach · 12/09/2011 16:21

Hi all, me and my mum both had spooky star signs over the weekend! My mums saying she would be 'hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet very soon' then mine said that a 'big event would be happening on Thursday!' Got me a wee bit excited lol. Got mw tomorrow so will see how everything is looking Smile

Dont know where everyone else is, but weather here in Glasgow is rather crazy! Aftermath of American storm apparently. An excuse not to leave the house all day Grin

Hope everyone is good!!

37+1

BabCNesbitt · 12/09/2011 16:42

mpops, were there particular movements you were doing on your birth ball that helped your baby turn? I've been sitting on my birth ball in front of my desk at home for a few months now, but as I just tend to sit there slack-jawed and dribbling, gazing at my laptop screen, I don't think that in itself would make any difference. (I've taken to doing a little bit of bouncing when I remember, but I worry that that might just lodge the wee yin even more firmly arse-first... )

seasaltbaby, sorry that you had such a horrible scare :( Why didn't they give a reason - did they not know, or did they just forget to explain to you? Hope you're feeling better and can enjoy your rest now, anyway :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/09/2011 17:08

Hi groovyrach I second crazy weather, I'm just outside Glasgow DS's playhouse has blown over and patio. Furniture everywhere! I have been arguing with myself all afternoon wether or not to try and get it all in the shed but not brave enough to go outside.

Have ironed all LO's clothes and they are ready to pack in hospital bag. Now to do some house work before DH and DS get home.

DH has assured me that he will build LO's furniture tonight. Feel like I've said that every week for months.

And started DS potty training today, we had 2 wee accidents and 1 success, but he got really upset and embarrassed when he wet himself which I didn't expect, anyone any experience on how to make him feel better/more confident. I didn't tell him off but gave him cuddle and got him changed. What else can I do, just felt so bad to see him so upset.

Wow sorry everyone for mammoth post :-0

BB3 · 12/09/2011 17:08

Hello all

Bubalie I tend to sleep better but I also have naps in the day most days which really helps.

scheh, every niggle makes me think it is something too and I am always a bit disappointed when it's not - which is silly!

mpops yes, can't believe we are all getting so close.

monkey what did the dr say - hope everything is ok.

cheeky well done on getting so far. It will be strange having a bigger baby but good to know that at this point LO will not need so much help and you wont have the worry you did with DS.

rebel not long now!

Seasalt welcome back and hope you are ok about the shock. Glad all seems to be ok but make sure you take it easy. Any idea what caused it?

groovy how strange would it be if LO did come Thursday - spooky (my DSis predicted hers to the date and time).

Had my scan appointment this morning (36 weeks although today I am 35+6) and am booked in for a c-section two weeks today. Had a tiny moment when they thought placenta had moved and I could have VBAC then turns out sonographer was just rubbish and now OS is completely covered rather than just 4cms!! So will be 37+6 which feels like an age away but on the positive side, if they do stay in, it is VERY unlikely that they will need any help. Although that's not to say they wont come before then... Before I went in, I was adamant that if they said I had to wait any when past 37 weeks I would throw a flid but actually was ok with it. Two weeks and counting... Although have to admit that I have been on the trampoline with DS a bit this afternoon just to see if I can get things moving a little bit .

Anyway off out for dinner - speak soon xxxx

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/09/2011 17:09

Oh and 35 weeks today

BB3 · 12/09/2011 17:10

Edward, just before we stopped with DS we just made whoopsie sounds, got him changed and carried on as normal. Windy down south but not too bad although I did have a panic that DS's trampoline would be blown over at 4am this morning into neighbours greenhouse!!

monkeybubbles · 12/09/2011 17:20

unfortunately things didn't go well at the GP, she wasn't able to test the leakage, so i have to go to triage at the maternity unit :( i am trying to be positive, and i really do think that it's probably just incontinence or discharge Blush
so now i'm just waiting for DH to hurry home and then off we'll go for an exciting night of waiting.

she also felt around and checked the heartbeat, and it seems that the LO who has been head down for ages has possibly moved! so that needs checking as well :(

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/09/2011 17:23

monkey everything crossed for you hope all goes well tonight and not kept waiting around too long worrying!

BB3 · 12/09/2011 17:35

monkey good luck tonight hopefully they can scan you when you're there and reassure you. Don't worry too much about position - it's hard to tell from just feeling - fingers crossed LO has stayed put!

happymummytobe · 12/09/2011 17:56

monkey Hope all goes well tonight - take lots of things to read/do/eat while you wait!
BB3 2 weeks and counting hey?! That's so exciting but can't blame you for wanting things to happen even sooner Wink

My left foot and ankle are quite swollen which is sore and annoying. Right one seems to be ok which is strange! And the baby's head is a bit engaged (1/5 at my midwife check last week) and I can feel it which is a bit achy. Sorry if tmi! Still haven't packed my hospital bag but really need to for peace of mind.

Am on a course for the rest of the week so I've been resting today and am knitting a baby blanket! Loving doing it and imagining our little baby actually using it soon!

Hope you're all well and have restful evenings ahead...!

OP posts:
Scheherezade · 12/09/2011 18:14

crossing fingers for you monkey

second antenatal class tomorrow. Have to say - the best part of it is judging the other couples Grin

mpops · 12/09/2011 19:47

Good luck monkey. Try not to worry!

BB3, wow, knowing the date must be quite something.

I spent my first day of maternity leave watching the labour videos on Babycentre. Has anyone watched them? I was bawling at the end of the stage 2 video. They're very good, by the way, highly recommended!

Scheherezade, I sort of sit towards the front of the birth ball and bounce my pelvis back to front repeatedly. I was only doing it because it was making me comfortable but it turns out it's good practice.

CheshireDing · 12/09/2011 20:40

Evening all.

I bounce around and sort of gyrate (sounds disturbing I know) n my ball, to be honest I have no idea if that's what you are supposed to do though but I am trying to get Porgeys bottom out from under my rib, although it has been sticking it in there for weeks!

13 days left at work
Porgey due one month today

sassy34264 · 12/09/2011 22:06

bb3 i had my 36week scan with my twin pregnancy at 35+4 and they booked me for a c section for 2 weeks time and my waters broke the next day! keep us posted tomorrow! Smile
seasalt so frightening for you. glad you're ok. i would be demanding to know what caused it, but i am a real worrier .

i have a question. im having these really wierd feelings/pains that i havent experienced in my other pregnancies. its like a combination of bladder and fangdango. the bladder feels like its pulsating/throbbing and i get shooting pains in the fandango. any ideas? ive had 2 tests for urine and both were negative. im wondering whether baby is sat on bladder or engaged. never had the experience of a baby being engaged, so wouldnt know. its not constant though but it is happening more and more as days go by.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/09/2011 22:30

.sassy not sure about bladder but get a mirror and have a look downstairs for varicose veins I get shooting/stabbing pains from mine which are getting worse as I get bigger.

GroovyRach · 12/09/2011 22:34

sassy iv had those kind of pains before, sort of throbbing. Didn't really give it much thought tbh. Guessed it was something baby related Grin

I'm feeling very emotional tonight. Been thinking how lovely Christmas is going to be this year with a baby and all the things I want to do/make ie make own stocking, little tree decoration etc. God, bubbling at the thought of it now!! Get a grip woman Blush

Time to put off the soppy songs and go to bed I think!! Grin

Penelope1980 · 12/09/2011 23:44

seasaltbaby how awful! That must have been so scary.

happymummytobe snap with only having one swollen foot! I have that too, is odd.

DH and I decided that today would be an excellent day for labour to start, but baby hasn't got the message sadly! By my estimation I have about another week of being OK and quite enjoying being home waiting (maximum!) before I start getting painfully impatient for baby to come. Room is ready, clothes are washed, hospital bag is packed, all I need is a baby to complete the picture!

On the advice of a friend I have also prepared a blank email with the addreesses of all the people I want to hear about the birth directly filled out in the to column so DH can fill in the details and press send when the time comes as there are some people that I don't want the first they hear of baby to be on facebook or via other people (if that can be helped). Is anyone else doing something like this or am I over thinking it?

GroovyRach I have been thinking about Christmas too, and am looking forward to it as have never had my own child at christmas before! It's funny that thinking about milestones like that really reminds me that I am actually having a baby.

monkeybubbles · 12/09/2011 23:58

So, it looks like I might be first!

Waters not broken, but am in early labour, 1cm dialated.
They're keeping me in overnight, it may slow down, but if not then this baby will be one month early!
Please keep thinking good thoughts for us :)

GroovyRach · 13/09/2011 01:16

Oooooh!! How exciting, but I'm a little Envy Grin

Fingers crossed everything goes well and you have baby in your arms very soon!!!

Penelope1980 · 13/09/2011 01:30

monkeybubbles that's so exciting! Best of luck and keep us posted. I too am happy for you and jealous in equal measure Smile

Safariboots · 13/09/2011 03:19

monkeybubbles, all the best of luck....

Leo4 · 13/09/2011 06:43

monkeybubbles good luck! I'm very jealous though! :) xxx
