Right here's our new thread.

So who's going to be first for an early Christmas present then?

Morning

First thing I thought of when I woke up was, 'god i wish I had Chuffed mattress' . Hips screaming and back aching.....not long to go. And yes, the hospital bag(s) are ready and waiting. Pessimistic side of me says that nothing will happen and Beany will just hang around until her due date But i can always hope!

Lyra - I'll ask DH if he's got any suggestions. He work in the City and might have some contacts that he can tap for info. How do we aply for it?

We're taking DD to see Narnia this afternoon. Hope it isn't too scary for her. Will bribe her to be quiet with popcorn and chocs as I REALLY want to see the film! And tomorrow we're off to see Cinderella and then meet my ma and pa for early supper as it's dad's birthday. Lovely family w/e. Want to spoil DD a bit before she goes off with her dad on 21st.

Chuffed - GBK has opened in Wimbledon - hooooorrrayyy. Guess who's going to be banging down the door demanding that they feed me now??!?!?

Tickle - great news about the bub changing position. Lets hope he stays there.

Am totally up for staying in contact on the ante natal thread. And I will set up a great meet up for this time next year.

Am feeling better today. Not as shattered and certainly not as bad tempered! Maybe it was just a hormonal blip and I'm back to me usual sunny self

OK, better go and feed my brood.

Have a great day

morning girls.

at your lack of support SK. I'm sure they all have this knee jerk reaction to anything they consider "risky" becaue they think everyone is going to sue them At the end of the day though it is your choice isn't it. Hang on in there honey - at least your MW are there for you !

Nappies - We were going to go for the Bambino Mio ones too originally but were put off by bad reviews. We decided on ME based on the advice we got from thenappylady.com who gave us a really comprehensive list of suitable nappies & stuff. I had to cancel the lollipop lady (washable nappy rep)'s visit yessterday as I had to go to hosp for a check so we're no nearer to deciding what to use. Plenty of time yet though (I hope!)

had a bit of a panic over my swollen legs/ankles yesterday as they wouldn't go down. I (stupidly ) took my BP which had shot up to 130/92 so called the hosp & they had me in for an hour's monitoring of the baby/BP & to take a load of blood. I'm sure a lot of it was because DH wasn't here so I was imagining all sorts and looking up stuff on the internet(I never used to be such a paranoid pansy - hormones?!!!!)

Tickle - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! let's hope he stays there now (and that all our back to back babe's have a little swivel!!)So glad you had a lovely time and hope you worked some treaty things into your visit too!

Lyra - glad I'm not the only one to be confused by the plethora of info on where to invest our baby's money . Any tips you get would be fab Georgie!!

Georgie - it sounds like you've a lovely weekend planned. Is your DD staying with her dad over Xmas - or just until?

A huge yes from me on joining in on the postnatal thread and meet up!! That thread isn't far off now is it I can't believe how the past 8 months have flown! - we're going to be back sleeping on our new slimline tums, oozing gorgeosity before we know it!!

Am finally putting up Xmas decs today with DD (if she ever gets up! - bf's 18th fancy dress party last night)so will be firmly in the festive mood by the time DH gets home (am excited already!!) have a good one all

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 17/12/2005 10:02

Georgie

you apply for the trust fund thingummy using a leaflet you got in your bounty pack (if you got one), and they have the leaflets at the supermarket and post office too. I think you apply after the baby's born.

I think chuffed gets her new mattress today. I wish i had it too, the thought of lying on my tummy is very appealing, altho' don't forget, after the birth our tits won't let us sleep on our fronts for a while.......

I haven't started raspberry leaf capsules yet, i don't want any beany action till after xmas now. any one else started them or the tea yet? and what about the perineal massage? i had lots of good intentions, but haven't got around to it yet i must admit. anyone else, apart from loomer, i remember you said you'd started doing it a few weeks ago. are you still at it?

another spoiley day for me today (sorry to brag!!). Coffee and papers in the village with dh, followed by a swim, jacuzzi then a-n yoga, and lunch with a-n chums. maybe a little nap in the afternoon if that's all too much.

Georgie

let me know what you think of narnia. dd went last week and said it was abs fab, so i want to go too. hope your dd lets you watch it.

iris

enjoy getting festive, i know you will!

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 17/12/2005 10:23

Morning all really freezing here been out quickly this morning but staying in the rest of the day, good thing about being a SAHM is you can go shopping on Mondays etc and avoid the Saturday madness.

Have started the RL tablets, I don't think they make baby come any earlier but they are supposed to make your labour faster as they tone your uterine walls (supposedly) even shaving 10 minutes off it would be great.

Definately up for the antenatal thread, I was on the Due in Aug 04 one but so many of the July ladies went over to August and DD was a July babe that we combined July/August.

Tickle - will keep fingers crossed baby doesn't turn back round now.

Lyra - re Child Trust Fund to be honest there was so much info out there I ended up just putting into the Halifax where all the other banking is.

Chuffed - I think you are right on the fuzzi, I use 2 microfibre inserts and find leaks after an hour. I don't think theres an ideal nappy for all babies as they are all different shapes and sizes, thats why I think it's a good idea to get one of each and try them out. I have a Bumble too they are good but are quite bulky. DD is a little thing (she has petite toddler fuzzis) so maybe tots are better for her as they fit her in the crotch. I don't know what I'm going to use on this baby TBH start on disposables for the first few weeks then I will see. Would love to go and buy a load of Bamboozles but finances wouldn't allow it.

Feeling much better about the homebirth situation now I've had some reassurance from mumsnetters.

Have a good weekend all.

SK x

Chuffingoodtime · 18/12/2005 08:44

Busy weekend for us, absolutely gorgeous day dd spent most of the day at the beach. Have had our new mattress now for 4 sleeps and what a difference it makes.
SK I only use the bumbles at night and are persevering with the fuzzi's during the day mixed in with disposables every now and again.
She actually doesn't fit the fuzzi's that well as she has reasonably muscular thighs so is at one off the tightest but I have to cross popper the waist as her waist is tiny, sort of wish I'd got the petite toddler size now. Hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday I will get the hemp pads done so that I can see if they make any difference. I would also say don't buy too many of any one particular nappy.
Had a bbq with other friends tonight, love this time of year with bbq's etc...is so enjoyable quite different from your UK bbq's in that it is very oh nice weather who wants to come around, bring your own stuff for the bbq, host makes up a salad or 2 and it is more of a get together than anything so not a lot of effort involved by the hosts which is nice.

Chuffingoodtime · 18/12/2005 08:57

Ooh I forgot to say we went with F&C for the child trust fund, we have other stuff with them as well which does make it a bit easier.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 19/12/2005 07:25

quiet day on the thread yesterday. what were you all so busy at?? something xmassy no doubt. we went to a carol service, which really put me in the festive mood, but a week seems too long to wait till xmas now.

chuffed

glad to hear your bed is comfy. can you sleep on your front in it??? can't imagine spending whole days on the beach and having bbq's - sounds amazing , but then again, not sure if i fancy xmas in the sun, just what you're used to i suppose.

sweetkit

i think i'll follow your advice and send off for 2 or 3 nappies to see which i get on best with. going to use disposibles at first, till i'm feeling more in control at home, maybe the first couple of months, then will try washables. i used kushies for a while last time, but didn't get on all that well with them. i don't think all in ones are a great design yet.

anyone tried those swaddle blankets? i got one passed onto me and will give it a try with the new baby. it looks very small though, i guess it's a newborn size.

have a good monday everyone, i've got a list of jobs to do, including an a-n visit with the midwife, i'm quite looking forward to that as i've not had a check for 3 wks, hopefully my iron is back to normal and the protein in my urine was nothing (or i think they'd have contacted me by now, i hope so anyway!).

see yous later.

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 19/12/2005 09:41

Hi all, 4 days in work to go whoo hoo! My colleague's wife has had a baby boy a month early (she wasn't due til Jan 14th) at 5'15 which is lovely news this morning. She had their daughter last year at 31 weeks so it's great she held out longer this time

Good news about the turn Tickle!

How are you now Iris?

How was Narnia Georgie? I'm thinking of taking the kids on my first day off on Friday. DS2 was Jim the shepherd in teh cubs nativity last night -haven't laughed so much in ages, much better than the school play. We had a lovely sunday lunch out in a Gower pub curled up in front of the fire and then I caught up with some friends - ended up with a curry (only thing open) - not the best move! had an awful night but much less tetchy now!

Lyra - I quite like swaddling, I think newborns sleep better wrapped up. DS2 being the exception - he hated it. I've seen those cloths, they certainly look neat. I wandered round TKMaxx on saturday and ended up with some gorgeous 'bang on the door' fleecy and flannette bedding (£16 instead of £60!) which should do the job!

The nappy situation is getting more confusing! Let me know where you get trials from please!

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 19/12/2005 10:29

Hiya all - ooh it's all frosty and christmassified round here. We put the decs up on sat but I didn't really feel festive until today - could be that I'm all but finished now: Tesco delivery all booked for Thu; turkey in the freezer; prezzies wrapped etc. Just got to do some final cleaning & bed changing on Xmas eve

I didn't really get up to much over the w/e except ferrying DD to & from work. DH got back ok on Sat & we went to an "X factor final" party which was so much fun (apart from me bursting into floods when Journey South did their rendition of "So this is Christmas" - good job it was all close mates there!!!. We all did a sweepstake on who would win (we didn't win) and the atmosphere was brill. The hosts had organised an indian takeaway extravaganza & i ate far too much (it was so scrummy I sort of went into pig mode (ie normal non-pg portion!)& felt decidedly ill by the time we went home - thought my bump would split open I was so full it took until yesterday lunchtime for me to feel normal again! ....note to self!)

Love the idea of swaddling (you mentioned you had one a while ago didn't you Lyra?) I bought a swaddle wrap in the sales with little velcro tabs to hold the flaps together. It's really sweet but I'm not sure how much use it will get (used muslins last time)it's lovely and soft though.
Anyway - best shake a leg & get dressed
back l8r

you lot with all your childrens' plays. I can't wait to do that again - and all the making stuff. We just don't do it any more (except the occasional batch of Xmas biccies). That said, I'm going with DD to her parent teacher review later so we're going to pick a load of greenery on the way back & have a faff about doing christmas arrangements this afternoon.

Chuffed - bet you're having a fab time in the sunshine!! We had a barbq christmas one year but that only involved doing the turkey on it in the garage Must admit I prefer my christmas weather to be cold but I guess you probably find that as unfestive as we do heat! BTW - who are F&C (re trust fund)?

Tickle - can't wait to hear what lovely things you got up to on your trip (hope all is still ok & that you've just been a bit busy !!)

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 19/12/2005 10:33

ps - I'm loads better now DH is back thanks Rachey. I rang for blood results on Sat & all is fine (they checked liver/kidney function & platelet/iron levels) big phew . Glad you're on the run down at work. Are you having a leaving bash?

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 19/12/2005 12:11

hi all had very quiet weekend popped down the shops for a few bits this morning and it was heaving, going to be like it all week I think, people just go a bit mad don't they I mean the shops are shut for 2 days! Bought some extra glasses, pots and cutlery for Xmas though.

Swaddling looks a good idea we didn't bother for DD last time as she was a July baby in London so soent the first 6 weeks in a vest only. Will be so different having to wrap a wee one up this time. Have done all the babies washing and ironing now so just have to pack my bag. Need to get some posh body wash as it's really nice having your first shower with some lovely smelling body wash then getting wrapped up in some clean jammies.

Iris - glad your tests came back ok

Chuffed - very at your bbq and beach stuff! Just about to go put the heating back on again.

Rachey - re nappies personally I would go to a nappy site like babykind or twinkle on the web (both v good) and have a good read of all the different kinds (which will probably confuse you even more if your anything like me) maybe order one each of a Motherease one size and wrap (Airflow the best), a tots bots, a bimble (small version of bumble) and maybe a Fuzzi Bunz or any other one you are interested in. Then do a few days trial see how you get on. But I agree I'm not even thinking about nappies right now, will wait a few good weeks before thinking about cloths, have a fair stock of Pampers already and am so lazy have even stockpiled some Pampers for DD over Xmas/New Year/new baby time why give yourself extra washing to start with?

Got my Boots Parenting Club vouchers this morning too .

Quiet day here some housework and playing with DD.

Eshay · 19/12/2005 15:34

Goodday ladies,

Although Thursday was my last day at work, today is the first day of having time to myself. I got up with DH this am and once he and DS had left the house I had a bath. When I went upstairs to get dressed I felt so tired I just rolled right ack into bed and had a nap till 11! How lazy is that!? DH says it's what Mat Leave is for so I might do it again tomorrow

I just went for a walk to the shops and bought an TummyTub for 75p. Don't you just love charity shops? With DS I always used a normal bucket but since it was this cheap I thought I might splash out and get the new baby the posh version. I suppose it might be a bit more comfi as the insides are more rounded. More stuff to store though. I might go and donate our conventional baby bath to the charity shop so we don't have 2 sitting around the house.

I spent about an hour and a half leaning forward on Saturday night and I am sure Baby swiveled round as my bump looked cmopletely different when I got into bed. I don't think Baby is too picky about his position just yet as I think he has now swiveled back to posterior position again. Rachey, I have heard about the shape of your pelvis or position of the placenta playing a big part in the baby's position too. And... my placenta is at the front so that may well be another reason for him to prefer being the other way around. Still, I'll keep leaning forwards as it's an easy thing to do to try and improve things.

Iris, my ankles aren't too swollen yet but my fingers have been for months. I can't get my rings off anymore. I was hoping the colder weather would help but so far they're still much too puffy. I asked my MW about having to cut them off but she said I really only needed to do that if I thought it was too uncomfortable. I thought the hospital might require to have them cut off (or do it themselves) if I have to have another C-section but she said that wasn't very likely. What a relief.

Lyra, re Child Trust Fund: I have put DS's voucher on with the Children's Mutual. I did this because a lot of other places offering to take care of your voucher actually use The Children's Mutual so I thought it would be best to cut out the middle man and go with them directly. However, I have not done too much other research as I read that the money will only be tax free if the child is living in the UK when s/he turns 18 and that is not very likely in our case. I would hate for him to have to pay a surprise tax on it so we're not actually doing much else with it - not adding to it. We'll do that in another account so we know exactly how much he has.

How often are people seeing their MW these days? I saw mine last week and will see her again in 4 weeks' time but that is in week 39. I'm sure I had more regular check-ups towards the end last time.

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 19/12/2005 16:58

Evening

OK, before I forget. DH says best thing to do with Child Trust Fund money is stick it in a high interest account (INGDirect do a good rate) as charges for any other type of investment are high and you'll lose out in the end. Phew, glad i remembered that!

Had stitch out today....yipppeee. Had gas and air for the first time and felt really stoned for the first time since leaving Uni (ahem!). Tried to tell OBGYN how great he was, but just giggled instead . Everything good. No contractions. No pain. Brilliant. Just playing the waiting game now.

Narnia was piggin' amazing. Very true to the book and the special effects were out of this world. Would highly receommend it. Some slightly gory bits that I though DD might react too, but she just climbed on DH's lap for a cuddle and was fine.

DD loved being swaddeled, so will see how this one reacts to it. Anyone thinking of getting a sleeping bag for their newborn?

DD, DH and I have just spent a lovely half hour making Beany's cot up, putting up her cot mobile and generally being all gooey about her baby things . DH looking slightly panicy at enormitiy of it all . 'Oh my god, I'm going to be a father' look plastered all over his face

Funny you should mention swollen hands. Mine have suddenly puffed up over the last couple of days. Can't get my rings off. Feet still OK. But calfs sometimes get a bit puffy as well.

for your BBQ Chuffed. Lucky you. It's jumpers and central heating in out house

Eshay - good question about MW appointments. Haven't got any booked in now at all. Better call hospital tomorrow as think we're supposed to see them every 2 weeks until we drop!

OK, better go and get DD's supper started.

G xx

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 19/12/2005 17:25

Good news on the stitch Georgie you don't realise how good the gas and air is until you have it when you are not in agony, I used it for my stitches after DD and I was off my face apparently trying to have serious conversations with the doctor. DP desperate for a go once the canister is delivered (have told him no way)!

Aww thats so sweet putting the cot up and going all baby gooey. I washed and ironed all the babies things last night including the moses basket linen. I plan to use moses basket for a while until bedside cot comes back into stock although think DD was in moses basket for a total of 2 nights. Sleeping bags are great too although again ours never got much use.

Re antenatal appts when I was in London mine were every 4 weeks but up here have been seeing the midwife every week now for about the past 4 so I think it depends on where you are. Thought it would be less with this being no 2.

Oh my corry and carry baby sling arrived today was really quick and looks really good, had a quick go but think I will need more practice although was using one of DDs dollies and theres a bump in the way. Will have to perfect hands free breastfeeding this time.

Has anyone else measured their bump? think we should have a bit of a competition to see how has the biggest and smallest bumps and then how that compares with baby size for a bit of fun.

I'm 8 1/4 squares of loo roll or 38 inches (97cms thats nearly a metre) at widest point!!

OhwhatMumfunitistorideinanoneh · 19/12/2005 18:42

Hi

Georgie -gas and air bit made me laugh. When I got to the hospital last time they gave me gas and air. Id heard how good it was but it did big fat zero for me - I threw the mask across the room I was so disgusted with it. Mmm the things you do when youre in labor.

I use fuzzi bunz on DS a lot and the microfibre stuff lasts me no time -the best thing for us is old fashioned thick toddler prefolds (i bought mine second hand very cheap.)

I am really suffering now after saying I had little wrong with me - pelvic pain getting worse and worse and piles now indescribably bad -went to GP today and they suggested a couple of things but they cant do the normal stuff at the mo - no wonder.

Havent got a cot yet - youre all making me feel a bit late in getting sorted but only just made up my mind to have a cot and not a crib- think baby will be too big for crib after short while

Glad babe turned Tickle and hope remains so.

SO who'll be first- I dont think me but Ill be encouraging this baby all I can from 2nd Jan. POst natal thread would be great but I know me and I wont write that much -will probably be too busy bfing if last time anything to go by but Ill hang on in there.

LOve the film reviews -will try to see them if can - I read all the Narnia books when a lot younger and loved them!

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 19/12/2005 19:10

Wow! we're nesting!

Mumfun - love the name!

Iris - our xmas meal last week was kinda a leaving do for me/paternity do for colleague and welcome back after mat leave for another colleague! I am now laying very low...

Sweetkitty - thanks for advice re nappies, won't do anything about it yet either.

Eshay - I have mw appointment tomorrow, first for 2 weeks and I'm 38 weeks now! can't see me getting one next week so the next one will be on my due date!!! Don't you worry about relaxing, it is exactly what mat leave is for... I know what you mean about pelvic/placental position, I've been furtively (frightening myself!) reading childbirth threads and I think I agree with Mears (midwife) re sweeps/interventions 'forcing' the baby's position especially when not engaged and stopping their head stimulating the cervix - ending up with crappy sporadic contractions. I also found a cervical sweep more painful (when not ready) than giving birth!

Georgie, glad that stitch is out and hope you are more comfortable - I LOVE gas n air and have been known to pull it out of the wall/empty tanks/bite through mouthpieces! In my opinion, it's what breathing exercises are really for! If only they could just turn the strength up a bit...

Re child trust things - I think I will put mine in something high risk/stocks n shares - it's such a small amount I think it's worth gambling and over 25 yrs you have more chance of a decent return.

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 19/12/2005 20:11

lol at the gas & air comments girls. The only thing I can remember is it making me really thirsty & the MW saying I wasn't allowed to drink (only ice cubes )
!cooo Rachey 38 weeks !! Am 38 weeks on 9 Jan and hoping to pop there or there abouts. Can't wait to see who's going to be first on the post natal thread!

SK - lol at your measuring (couldn't resist getting my tape measure out) I'm 35 weeks and 43.5 inches / 110 cm And I've not put any weight on except bump! (I refer my learned colleagues to my comments regarding comedy bump... I'll say no more!!)

Georgie - Thanks for the trust fund advice.

This baby is firmly back to back (images of him reclining on a nice fat placenta abound!)and am sooo bruised from his feet & hands. He clearly doesn't like me sitting upright so have to go and slob for a while.

ChunkerXmasCake · 19/12/2005 20:31

Have just skimmed the thread - Tickle, glad baby's turned - must be a relief for you! Chuffed, hope it's not too hot for you

Kitty, hope you're reassured about a homebirth - have you seen Thomcat's just had her second at home?

Have had a lovely day shopping for bits and pieces and last minute Christmas things - am totally done now, which is a relief! MIL had DS for me, which was lovely, as I find it easier to think what I need and I managed a relaxing cup of tea in the morning and a nice lunch while reading a magazine - luxury!

But I'm sure I didn't imagine the "poor cow, she doesn't know what she's letting herself in for" looks from women out with buggies - LOL!

Have bought a first outfit for the baby - very sweet - and a hat and gloves (DS won't wear hats, so am looking forward to having a baby that will - shallow, me?!).

Got my second growth scan tomorrow, and will have a better idea of what position this baby's in afterwards, as well as whether it's still a touch on the small side. I don't feel nearly as big as I did with DS, but am sure that's because I'm not eating ice cream by the gallon like last time

Not sure what position the baby's in - am sure it was transverse again over the weekend.

Have been nesting furiously over the weekend - and have bought a mattress each for the moses basket and the rocking cradle we have inherited. DS is in the cot still, and I'm in no hurry to get him into a bed because he's such a wriggler! Am hoping the rocking cradle will do for a good few months in our room, and hopefully we'll move house next year so that they won't need to share a room, but if they do, we'll manage it!

Chuffingoodtime · 20/12/2005 02:04

Hey all what a busy thread. Not too hot thanks but a bit muggy, it is funny that Christmas feels right having snow etc but it also feels right having a lovely cold plated xmas lunch and salads etc when it is summer.
You lot seem so organised you have reminded me that I must go and call my cousin about the basinet we are supposed to be borrowing. Have started buying the stuff I need for hospital bag, the hospital is super nice so I won't mind staying all the rooms are single or double with ensuite's.
Good luck with the growth scan HM.
My measurements are 103cm at widest point at 36wks yesterday.
I'm on weekly appointments from now on and was on fortnightly from 30-36wks.
Mumfun I agree G&A did nothing for me either but I was too scared to let it go until they could give me something better.
Better go take care

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 20/12/2005 13:10

hi all

Been to mum and tots Christmas party with DD today she saw Santa (was frightened) and got a present. Afterwards everyone was saying well if we don't see you in January we know you've had the baby, very scary the next time we go there could be 3 of us! DD's only 17 months old today.

Very sore today as well so going to take it easy this afternoon.

at Thomcats lovely homebirth too

I have a bum under my ribs, limbs to the left so get punched/kicked there regularly. Think we are back to back but not worried about it plenty time to whizz round. Think she headbutts my bladder too, because sometimes I get these desperate urges to go the loo even if I've just been does anyone else get this? I'll go upstairs go to the loo, come downstairs and have to go again within minutes, of course nothing much comes out. DP lay with his hands on bump for most of Bad Girls last night and he couldn't believe how much she moves (I know then he wonders why I can't get to asleep at night!)

Re: gas and air great stuff the mouthpiece I had looked like a rabid Alsatian had been at it by the time I was finished last time.

Right away for a nice bath well once DD is in bed for a nap.

Eshay · 20/12/2005 13:59

SweetKitty, I'm with you on the loo front. It's become even worse in recent weeks. I know there isn't much there but the urge can be so strong sometimes. Very annoying. Only one more month though! How exciting and scary is that? And much sooner for most of you I think.

ChunkerXmasCake · 20/12/2005 16:06

Growth scan showed baby's abdomen's not growing as they would like, but head circumference is fine - so have another scan on 30th December and if the growth's still tailing off, they'll induce me.

Baby's still very active, so am reassured by that. Know what you mean re the bladder pressure! Good news is that baby's head down now - hooray!

Gas and air made me retch last time, but might try it again. Only had one puff of it, so probably didn't give it a good chance - lol!

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 20/12/2005 16:32

I am an expert on gas n air after all these labours! My tip is to start breathing it in as the contraction starts (ie before you need it) as it has a delayed effect. Breathe as deeply in as you can and then (very important) don't drop the mouthpiece and start screaming but breathe as deeply as you can out again - but into the mouthpiece (and repeat steadily until contraction gone). If you stop for a moment the effect is lost. It does make you a little nauseous and give you numb lips at first but it's well worth perservering for the high!

Saw mw for 38 wk appointment today - all well but my bp was 141/84 which seems high although she didn't mention it and just booked me in again for 2 weeks - my due date!!! I am actually 4/5 engaged which is a big deal for me that the little fella is starting to get his head down (and doesn't my bladder/pelvic floor know it!) still a long way to go of course. I measure 38cm up my bump so he must have dropped one cm down! I'm afraid ladies that at the widest point my 'waist' is 132 cm that's 52''! (I had to measure it twice, I couldn't believe it) so beat that - and it is all out the front! - I still have a waist from the front and the back. Mw reckons baby will be maybe 8 1/2 lb full term.

Sorry, Hunker I don't know much about GD (is that what's the cause?) But if the head is normal then baby is growing/developing fine, just not putting on the fat. I suppose 'they' just think s/he would do better/get stronger if they were on the outside.

Yes, they did say that if the head circumference wasn't increasing they'd be a lot more concerned. GD's meant to make babies bigger than usual, not smaller - so who knows what's going on?! I'm starting to think I'd be more reassured if I could actually see this baby and feed him/her myself, but inducing at 37 weeks isn't always the best recipe for a baby that feeds well - oh well, in a month, this will all be resolved, I suppose!
