Hey lala :) wow i bet you are excited about the decorating.. although it'll be a stress! Our jungle things haven't arrived yet, bu they should be here today :o i have got loadsssss of green and yellow shoelaces from the pound shop and i have tied them togetehr and hung them fro the ceiling like vines!! And then i found some fake vines too... so they are going to go up next week!!

I would like ours to be close together, it happened first time for us with this one. With my work i am taking 11 months off, and it will be better if i go back to work pregnant (as i will have to go back to work part time as we both shift work, and no family to help babysit, but if i am pregnant i can pretty much tell them the hours i want to work... plus i would be on a full time salary whilst i was on my next lot of maternity, rather than a part time wage)... so after that long and pointless essay... if i can convince Dan, i think we may ttc when Nugget is about 10 or 11 months

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 07:08

ps... yup i also got the "no one is avaliable to take your call" with the nHS classes... kind of glad i booked NCT now, but i still want to do the hospital tour

londongirly i bought some last time the offer was on :) i will stock up on some more now thanks!

figgygal · 11/08/2011 07:43

I personally don't think I'll have another child even though I've always wanted 2 now I'm pregnant and it's all real and I've had the easiest pregnancy ever (so far and long may it continue) something in me is saying nope this is it for me.

Obviously things change and I might change my mind once he arrives or in the future and I never thought I'd want my child to be brother or sisterless but I'm feeling quite certain about it at the moment luckily DH is on the same page so no awkwardness there.

lalababy · 11/08/2011 09:10

kri5ty I want to see pictures when you are done decorating! It sounds really fantastic!!!

As for kiddos, I think I would like to have one more - but not for a while. Something like a 3/4 year age gap is what I was thinking, coz I figure it would be too much work handling a 1 year old while pregnant! Who knows...

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 09:16

Deal :o i will put one on when its finished... although it won't be as good as we could have done it if we wern't renting (and could therefore decorate properly)

mopsytop · 11/08/2011 09:32

I am having the baby sleep in my study! Moving home next week (yay!) after 3 years of only seeing my husband at weekends. Cannot wait! But need to finish my PhD at home, which means I need a study and our house is tiny 2 up 2 down, so baby will just have to share my study! So it is very plain, white walls, plain carpet, plain dark red curtains. I suppose I could stick up a few bright stickers or something but I don't suppose the baby will mind really!

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 09:36

yayyy mopsy i bet you can't wait to move!! :o
No baby will not mind where it sleeps!! We are doing the spare room up, but it will be in with us for the first couple of months at least

mopsytop · 11/08/2011 11:19

Oh yeah, it will be in with us for first few months anyway!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 11/08/2011 12:13

It won't mind what the room looks like :)

if anything, it will be you that gets annoyed there is baby stuff all around your PHD papers!!

I am still considering doing an access course for midwifery, but i'm not sure how i would manage studying at home with a newborn.. i feel for you!!

mopsytop · 11/08/2011 12:16

I know, I was planning to finish before the bean arrived, but all those months of migraines put paid to that. hey ho. Will get it done by hook or by crook!

lalababy · 11/08/2011 12:18

Honestly mopsy the decorating the nursery is more for my than the baby anyway! I think for me - I just love decorating the house... and buying a new place and having a baby is just a good excuse! It must be pretty exciting to finally be back home with hubby :)

Half the time it doesn't even seem real that I am having a baby... it is so surreal...I still feel like a kid myself and now I am going to be responsible for someone else...

mopsytop · 11/08/2011 12:29

I know I feel like that too. An actual baby argh! Nervewracking. Exciting but nervewracking. I am planning on doing a bit of house decorating too over the next few months, just painting and stuff. I know I won't have time once baby gets here so might as well get it done now.

OP posts:
kri5ty · 11/08/2011 12:50

Yup i agree... it doesn't seem real! I am worrying slightly as i have never changed a boys nappy before... i mean just what do you do with it??!

I think it will start to feel more real when i get kicks!

Sorelip · 11/08/2011 13:02

Kri5ty, I'm thinking of doing a home access to midwifery course myself. However, I'm wary of signing up to start from September, without knowing what state I'll be in once the baby is born. However, the longer I wait, the longer it'll take...what to do?

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 13:05

Exactly my thoughts sorelip a friend did hers through the distance learning centre, you can start at any time fo year, and out your studies on hold for 3 months... i should have applied 5 months ago when i was orginally going to!!

I will make myself this weekend, that way i will have done 3 or 4 moths of studying every afternoon before he pops out!

Sorelip · 11/08/2011 14:12

That sounds brilliant kri5ty! Will look into it this afternoon.

Just ate a huge borlotti bean, chickpea and tomato mix, and feel sooo bloated Confused

lalababy · 11/08/2011 14:53

As for chaning a boy's nappy... the key is to step out of the way...coz apparently they love to pee as soon as you take the nappy off and it goes straight into your face!!!

figgygal · 11/08/2011 15:29

My chum used to put cotton wool on end of her little boys bits so he couldn't pee on or at her I'm scared of it too!!!

kri5ty · 12/08/2011 07:42

the wee part doesn't scare me, i will just put muslin over it... its the other parts!! Just how do you clean it?!? My friend said i can practice on her 6 month son, but his parts are massive and i will feel wrong lol

... oh and her top tip is "make sure it is pointing down when you put the nappy on... or they wee out of their nappy!"

mopsytop · 12/08/2011 11:00

I am sure you'll figure it out fairly rapidly kri5ty! Baby wipes are your friend.
Apparently, if you have a boy, you will definitely get wee-ed up at some point! I have also heard horror stories from almost all my mother friends about poo incidents (spraying across the room etc.) sounds horrific!!!

OP posts:
figgygal · 12/08/2011 12:16

talking of baby wipes tesco have the huggies sensitive ones on buy 1 get 2 free at the moment so that is 3 packs of 64 for £2.69 DH has gone bargain mad we now have 18 packs in the cupboard after a few days trips.

mopsytop · 12/08/2011 12:18

Wow you are all so organised. I haven't bought a single thing! Don't think I will until December. Doesn't feel real enough at all to buy anything yet.

OP posts:
kri5ty · 12/08/2011 12:21

I bought some of the huggies pure wipes that you can use for newborns? We got a box of 6 packs for £4 from the £1 shop!!

I am buying everything now in advance so i dont have to worry if forget something... (i even have nursing pads!!)

Sorelip · 12/08/2011 12:24

I've either bought, or have coming, nearly everything I need for a newborn. Of course, there will be something I've forgotten :o

mopsytop · 12/08/2011 12:25

I nearly feel like there's something wrong with me! I just can't be bothered to even think about that stuff yet. Does that make me weird?!
