Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

It's totally gorgeous though Oi! And the other bits apart from the bed will last for years and years and years. It will look beautiful.

Hey figgy that is great news. Ultimately I am sure all of you will be more comfy with them in a nearby guesthouse! No classes for me... even getting out of bed is a chore!

So far only my mum is coming. She should be here about a 1 week before my EDD and will stay for about a month. I am really looking forward to it since I only see my folks once or twice a year. Plus my mum is sure to cook all my favourite foods ... yummy :)

figgygal · 13/10/2011 12:34

I think for me its the uncertainty of when he is going to come they are here the 15th to 23rd, if i go over to the point of being induced that wont start until the 21st so then they will hardly see him before they go back. Ah will see how things turn out.

I bought some more maternity pads and big pants today, this weekend i need to make a list of outstanding items as though have had buggy and bed and cute things for months I dont have things like bottles yet, though i want to BF i should probably get some formula in case it doesnt work out etc.

Oh cripes have managed to eat my lunch already and its only half 12 its going to be a long afternoon!!

NorthernChinchilla · 13/10/2011 19:28

We've bought a nice chest of drawers to go in the baby's room; cot and changing table/storage unit (which is actually an old TV corner unit, don't tell!) we've already got or are being given by my Dad. All of the stuff actually is, or looks like 'aged' pine, so will all fit in a slightly 'jumbly' way, which we like.

Walls and carpet off white (will put down many many rugs). Have chosen all the pictures and hangings, so will like Oi probably be the nicest room in the house...til baby actually starts using it Grin.

Anyone been on the thread in chat about 'worst baby purchase'? Actually very useful, and funny!

kri5ty · 13/10/2011 23:31

Anyone else keep bringing up bile? Eurgh I can't wait for him to 'drop' and give my top half a break!

mopsytop · 14/10/2011 07:19

Yes kri5ty - ugh

OP posts:
kri5ty · 14/10/2011 11:23

northern re baby purchases... I just ordered that kettle that heats to 70 degrees for bottles [hblush]

I'm posting this here as well as the other thread... but hospital bags, check with your hospital, with mine you have to take cartons of milk in if you plan on bottle feeding/ or are worried you won't pick breastfeeding up in hospital straight away and want to give it a go once you're home

lalababy · 14/10/2011 16:16

Hmmm, so I have painted the nursery a bright green and all the furniture in there is white... I still need to choose curtains, bedding and put up some pictures... (bought frames already) but haven't decided what type to make it all match and come together!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2011 19:54

Eeeek, mopsy, kri5ty, that sounds awful, poor you! Only time I've done that was after some serious anti-biotics, and it was not fun. I take it it's because the beans are high up and squishing everything?

Number 4 873 to add to our ever-growing list of 'minging things you're not told about pregnancy until you are'....

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2011 20:04

Blimey, just seen on that other thread kri5ty that your NCT class wouldn't tell you about bottle-feeding!

That's not helpful at all, especially in your case: you can promote BF as much as possible, and they should, but there are going to be women in your position (and many others whose babies just won't do it/boobs act up) so not to show you how to do it safely is not on. Don't blame you for buying the kettle!

Like sex ed where they only tell you 'don't have sex'- it the real world it happens, so people need to know how to do important things safely!

On a slightly less outraged note, tomorrow is my birthday Grin, but because it was my Dad's 60th four days ago we're actually going out to celebrate his!

OiMissus · 14/10/2011 20:58

Happy Birthday for tomorrow!
I'm in the same boat this year - my bd is the 30th, my sister is 40 on the 26th - and she's having a party on the 22nd and on the 29th. She's taking both weekends! (I really don't mind) Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2011 21:44

Cheers!

October's always mad, as most of my family was born in that month (me, my Nan and my Grandpa all on the same day FFS, although they're sadly both dead now).

I've just ignored my birthday this year as it's been DP's Mum's 70th on the 10th, my Dad's 60th on the 11th, and then it's one of my longest-standing friend's weddings on the 23rd, and there's only so much celebrating and travelling you can do at 7 months pregnant....[hgrin]

Hope you enjoy your parties too Oi!

kri5ty · 14/10/2011 23:26

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear northern, happy birthday to you! :o (for an hours time!)

I agree, I thought they would have at least covered bottle guidelines briefly! I'm there again tomorrow for more fun lol. Ooo and my hospital make you take your own cartons of milk in if you plan on bottle feeding, to force people to breastfeed! Apparently I should get free formula from them as I can't breastfeed, but I'm taking some just in case!!

HoneyLovesCake · 15/10/2011 08:49

Happy Birthday Northern It's a bit early for Wine so have some Brew & a [hbiscuit] :o

NorthernChinchilla · 15/10/2011 10:04

Thanks all! Certainly enjoyed a glass of fizz last night- didn't bother going out for a meal as we've got so much on with my Dad's 60th this weekend, theatre, London, meal out, etc- so DP treated me to fish n chips and we shared a half bottle of champagne...perfect!

HLC- if it had been last year I'd've been on the Wine by now, as I love having any excuse to indulge my inner booze hound, but sense prevails this year, and I've indulged my inner child with a bowl of choccie cereal as suggested [hsmile].

Will be interested to hear what fun you have this time kri5ty- think our hospital's the same: no provision of bottles or anything to encourge BF. Now I'm a huge fan, and totally intend to do it, but recognise that it may not happen/take a while etc, so do think it's a bit OTT to provide so little info and help. Best intentions, etc...

Opening cards soon!

OiMissus · 15/10/2011 13:32

Happy birthday northern, fish n chips n champagne - sounds perfect!! Have a great day!

OiMissus · 15/10/2011 19:04

You are my inspiration, northern, we had fish, chips n peas for tea - accompanied with Dandelion and Burdock - well, it's not my birthday!

NorthernChinchilla · 16/10/2011 19:20

Hope you enjoyed it Oi. Had a lovely weekend, but so tiring going into London, both for the theatre and just having to travel through. NOT helped by the fact that part of the Northern Line (Bank branch I think) is currently closed for maintenance.

Tonight will be the oh so grown up Heinz spaghetti and sossies on toast Blush, as we're back late, I've got piles of washing to do and can't be arsed with anything else. To be fair, I will have a salad too, but kiddie comfort food calls...

Am finding myself a fair bit more breathless now, to go with the stamina of a baby hamster, which I'm still finding odd. Mind you, now it's down to single numbers in the 'weeks to go' tally, it's starting to feel a bit more...looming...eeeek

mopsytop · 17/10/2011 09:56

hi everyone, hope you'd a good weekend!

OP posts:
OiMissus · 17/10/2011 10:09

northern I don't know what you're talking about. I watch Spooks, and they have great car chases and dashes through London, and there's never anything on the roads! Travelling through London must be a doddle. (he he he! [hhmm])

lalababy · 17/10/2011 15:18

Oi please tell mean you mean travelling in london is a doozy!!! hehe
Happy birthday Northern glad you had a good weekend!!!

Can't believe NCT don't talk about bottlefeeding at all. That is ridiculous. What if you have ptoblems with breast feeding and then you are stuck not knowing what to do!!!

OiMissus · 17/10/2011 16:13

Are we speaking different languages? [hgrin] "A doozy" - does that mean really easy? AKA "a doddle". [hgrin] I saw it on TV so it must be true.
We learn something new everyday, and it isn't just about babies.

ZombiesAteMySorelip · 17/10/2011 17:55

Northern, happy belated birthday! Travelling into and around London is a bit of a nightmare, but it can be worth it in small doses. Living here is slightly different - there are so many nice bits of London that I've never seen!

OiMissus · 18/10/2011 13:31

Any first timers have a look at this thread - it's all the things mums wished they'd known when they were mums-to-be /first timers. Very handy. Especially like the posts about taking off a sleep suit downwards (not over the head) after explosive poos. :)

lalababy · 18/10/2011 16:50

Oimissus You are cheeky! I wonder if they will talk about this on TV

This morning I was travelling to work on the tube and there was a stabbing on the train the carriage next to mine... or I think someone stabbed someone on the platform at paddington and then jumped on my train as it was leaving! So at the next stop all the cops were waiting, we all had to get off the train! No idea what happened to the poor soul who was probably just heading off to work on his normal commute Sad
