Afternoon all,

I am just sat here idly wondering how DS knew to sleep for exactly as long as it would take me to cook chocolate brownies and a spinach and ricotta cannelloni, and do the mountain of washing up. What happened to the 'and then sit down with a cuppa before he wakes up' bit?

Firstly welcome back Aubers - I do hope your sickness has at least gone down a few notches while you've been away. I maybe should know this but how far along are you now? You must surely be nearly there? Wink

Scarlet yipppeeeeeeeee for your EPU scan - what a result! And I can have a scan-waiting buddy (to brook no argument with) as my next one is 2 weeks on Friday.

Love what a cheek of that work person to say that! Honestly, as Scarlet and others say - even if you suspect with someone you just don't say it - people will jolly well tell you if and when they want to! Pah!

I'm getting a bump too and am only 10 weeks tomorrow. I bought some maternity jeans from next (the sort with the jersey inserts where the pockets should be) and am wearing those today. Need a bit of hoiking up if I'm walking around but much nicer for sitting down as my belly can expand freely Blush! They have an adjustable waist too so might tighten them in a bit again. I never bothered with this sort of style last time as I thought they wouldn't last right through and I didn't want to have to buy again, but past experience tells me there is a niche for these as I descend back into normal clothes too rather than embarrassingly falling down jeans post birth!

DenyEverything · 30/08/2011 17:39

Hello all, nice to see you aubers. trying to catch up on what I've missed during my week of leave from work when I took approximately 4 naps a day whilst DH looked after DS and me. Lovely.

Also glad to see we're all expanding at a rate of knots. I'm doubly blessed as I have virtually no boobs to speak of (even worse after breastfeeding) but was at least hoping to get to 16 weeks or so before my belly was bigger than them. I'm 9+4 and I can't see my feet

DenyEverything · 30/08/2011 17:40

P.s biscuits and scream can I join you in scan-waiting activities? Just had my date as 2 weeks on Thurs. DH can't come so I'm all on my lonesome

DenyEverything · 30/08/2011 17:41

Duh, I mean scarlet. I'm out of practice with this posting lark

Biscuitsandtea · 30/08/2011 17:47

Yep Deny we'll get through the two weeks all together.

And it is only because of my massive largeish boobs that my bump is less noticeable. Because they protrude so very far they still cleverly disguise my expanding tum as clothes still go down from my boobs rather than having to go further out round my tum (iyswim)

MeconiumHappens · 30/08/2011 18:20

Booked my midwife appt today :)
Boobs are a bit tender for the first time and have definately been a bit emotional- went a bit mental at husband last night, actually got out of bed and cried and went to sleep on the sofa...because he kept farting in bed. :S He was very good about it all. I am Blush today!

Seems like we're all due scans in a couple of weeks, am going to book a private early uss for the 16th hopefully.

Re the bumps, i already have quite a belly, so im sure noone will notice Hmm

Purplebuns · 30/08/2011 18:52

Hello everyone,
Long time no see Aubers welcome back. How was your time away? I can't believe you are 15 weeks already!

I can add to the exciting scan talk as I have my 12 week scan on Thurs. I am quite anxious and it is actually affecting my sleep, so worried it will be bad news. :(

I do have plenty of symptoms and vomiting in Subways toilet straight after finishing my sub this lunch was a highlight! I have had a bump for ages now, give it 4 weeks and I will be really massive!

Deny smaller boobs due to bf Envy I went from a D to a G with DD, then went down to about a F as I cut feeds down. I am now bursting out of my wired Gs and I can't wear them as they are so uncomfortable. I dread to think how big I will get now.

Meconium I have had almost the exact same scenario here, sent DH to the spare bed in a hormonal rage and then had to bring him back as I couldn't sleep without him Blush I seem to have got a bit better with the hormones as long as I am not tired or hungry which is 80 % of the time Wink

With regards to fatness, I have 7lbs I keep putting on and off due to bloating, this fluctuation can be across a day Hmm this is on top of the 3lb I have put on at my lightest now. Not fair when I having eating issues!

Aren't we all doing well though? Scans, midwife appts, can bring a tear to the hormonal eye *sniff

Biscuitsandtea · 30/08/2011 18:55

Purple we're brooking no arguments for you for your scan on Thursday - we're here to hold your hand too!

DenyEverything · 30/08/2011 18:58

meconium I blubbed today when I thought I'd lost my purse (please note I had only misplaced it for about 30 seconds). My DH's farts bring a tear to my eye most of the time, hormones or no hormones.

purple, we will all be thinking of you on Thurs. Am sure it'll be fine and so reassuring to see mini-purp getting bigger and wriggling around. Can't wait to hear about it!

So difficult to avoid gaining muchos fatness when my only concession to healthy eating at the moment is to swap normal walkers crisps to the baked ones Blush

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 30/08/2011 19:02

Am refusing to weigh myself. I may weigh myself the day before delivery just to see how much I weigh at full-term, and then I can gloat about how fast it all vanishes! [deluded emoticon]

I had a scan this morning and all is well. Baby Dumbo is measuring 8+5 exactly, bang on, and the technician pointed out the little flickering heartbeat which I couldn't see. Next scan won't be until 12 weeks - Envy of Pomme, Aubers and Purple!

My boobs are also ginormous - went from D to FF last time, went down to an E briefly and now have exactly one fitting bra in 34E, while bras in 32F and 34FF are too small. Confused Need to go bra shopping v soon.

Purplebuns · 30/08/2011 19:05

Thank you, I am brooking most of the time it is just when I am settling down to sleep and the fear creeps in... It will be fine though

On the plus side I am not worried about the massive blood test which is what usually scares me!

Biscuitsandtea · 30/08/2011 19:10

Too - great news about your scan! And bless you with the heart beat - the most important thing is that the sonographer could see it - they (after all) are the ones who understand what they're looking at! I always worry about being like Rachel from Friends when I go for a scan and not being able to see it when everyone else can.

DenyEverything · 30/08/2011 19:17

Lovely news about the scan too. I got the Friends reference biscuits so am clearly as old and telly addicted as you.

Still haven't had a midwife appt. My scan is a nuchal one done privately as they don't do them on the NHS here in the sticks. Am a bit cheesed off that I still haven't heard from the hospital (midwives said they will contact me rather than the community bunch) and despite working for the NHS I am obviously not good enough at brooking no argument and ringing the hospital again. I spoke to the 15yr old kid manning the antenatal clinic phone once already and he muttered something about "you gotta wait till you're 12 weeks innit". Obviously busy on his X box or something.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 30/08/2011 19:55

Biscuits, I was already channeling Rachel: 'I can't see it!' DH said he could see it and later confessed that he couldn't either! Can't live without Friends being constantly repeated on E4.

Deny, that sucks! I thought you should get a MW appt by about 8 or 9 weeks, so that they can make sure they get blood tests, blood pressure and pee samples from you quite early on as a baseline. Grr on your behalf!

jaggythistle · 30/08/2011 23:23

I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow morning.

Biscuitsandtea · 31/08/2011 05:44

Jaggy hope DS went off to sleep ok for you. I'm awake now at half past 5 as DS was just crying in his sleep about wanting ice cream and now I can't get back to sleep Sad oddly enough I've been lying here worrying about whether my new bras fit or not Confused.

Good luck with your appt today. Midwife first and no GP sounds the same as here. Was it you who was hoping for a less grumpy / scary midwife? Hope you get a good'un Smile

How many weeks are you along now?

too I know what you mean about e4 dropping friends. I actually considered buying the whole lot on DVD but it is too £££ Sad

jaggythistle · 31/08/2011 06:38

Thanks biscuits. unfortunately he would only sleep on my knee for ages. DH had a go but he just cried for mummy! i eventually just went to sleep in the chair with him, woke up about 2.45 and finally got to bed. yawn.

unbelievably he is also awake... sounds happy enough now. shouting for me in a cheery wee voice.

yeah the midwife always made me nervous for some reason! i wonder if i should take her a present of wee? think i might leave it this time.

i reckon I'm just past 5wks as i ovulated later, lmp calculation will probably put me nearer 6.

zzzzzz

Biscuitsandtea · 31/08/2011 06:45

Oooh, I didn't take a wee present (and I don't mean small) and got told I should have. I had to do a sample there. I'd even asked the doctors receptionist who assured me no such thing was necessary. If you've got a sample bottle to hand it can't hurt to have one as back up.

I mean who doesn't like a nice bottle of wee as a gift? That must put anyone in a good mood HmmConfused

jaggythistle · 31/08/2011 07:12

i actually do have one somewhere i reckon. not sure if I'll need another wee by then though!

pommedechocolat · 31/08/2011 08:38

Too - I know what you mean about bras, I'm struggling too. A 32E maternity bra broke on Sunday whilst I was wearing it - the strap just popped! Have ordered a 32FF so hopefully that will fit better.

I too didnt take a wee sample to the midwife and had to go off and try and do one there and then with dd in the cubicle with me. I managed though!

Biscuitsandtea · 31/08/2011 08:44

I am in awe of your weeing skills Pomme - I reckon DS would probably have his head in the bottle if I tried that Hmm.

I haven't gone for any maternity bras yet - they are non wired right? I don't think I could bear to wear non-wired - it was horrible while bf as with HH cups (now, they were off the scale when bf) they need something to hold them up Blush. Not just that they look horrid but it is uncomfortable too Sad.

Am a bit mad though because I only bought these after being measured in bravissimo 2 weeks ago and I said i was pg and everything so they supposedly fitted them with room to spare. Now I know my boobs have been sore but recently it feels more like they are only sore like under my arms where the wire goes and I am worried they are damaging the tissue. Think I will go back tomorrow (yawn) and tell them I'm worried about it. But having spent £58 on two bras I'll not be best pleased if I have to buy again (I'll have my Angry face ready....)

scarletfingernail · 31/08/2011 09:10

jaggy the midwife asked me yesterday if I'd brought her a wee present. Luckily I had. Oh and scream I forgot to mention that she also took my blood so you'd better psyche yourself up for that before you have yours.

I went to the cinema last night to see One Day. I properly blubbed in the cinema Blush I was really annoyed with myself. I'd already read the book so I knew when the Sad bit was coming up. I thought I could steel myself but no, it got me. I couldn't even explain myself to my friend who I'd gone with. She knows I'm usually hard as nails not that type at all so was a bit Grin at me. Oh well I'll be able to tell her the truth in another 6 weeks!

Meconium in my book farting in bed is good enough reason to sleep seperately. I've been known to wake DH up to point out the smell he has made in his sleep.

Great news about your scan Dumbledore

Deny and Biscuits I'm so pleased to have a couple of scan buddies. I fear I'm going to be doing a lot of mentalling the next couple of weeks.

jaggythistle · 31/08/2011 09:53

Well, I now have a vial of wee in my car boot cos she didn't even ask!

My next appointment will be when I get my scan/bloods done. I am definitely taking some wee along there, as last time I couldn't get a wee out, then I suddenly needed a poo and the midwife came looking for me cos I took so long Blush Blush

It was the same community one today, she just somehow has an angry looking face but is quite nice really. So I will receive a scan appointment within a month (hope that's a conservative estimate!) and I left clutching my new plastic folder with notes, Ready Steady Baby book and lots of leaflets.

I will get a consultant appointment at 34 weeks to discuss birth, she asked and I told her I don't really want another section unless I have to!

She asked if I had any questions and I completely forgot to ask how I can get a look through my old notes to see what the feck actually happened last time. D'oh.

I am wearing my crappy maternity bras form last time, the back size is too big as I am not so fat now and they are not especially supportive. Am not happy with buying yet more!

better go do some work...

MeconiumHappens · 31/08/2011 10:18

hahahahah @scarlet waking oh to show him (show?!) the smell he made in his sleep, i have actually just laughed out loud at that. Dog looking at me funny!
Lovelt scan news Too very exciting that the sonographer saw little heart beat flickering away :) Im going to have an early scan, just because i've read that once you have seen a heartbeat on an 8 week scan the risk of mc drops really low. I like this!

scarletfingernail · 31/08/2011 12:05

jaggy glad your appointment went well this morning. What did she calculate your due date as? Mine did it as LMP which would be 24th April, but I've worked it out as 27th April due to me ov'ing late.

Can I ask a [blush question? I keep feeling as though I've started to bleed. You know when you can feel something trickling out? Blush Blush but when I check, it's not blood, just clear stuff. Is it normal at this stage to have so much of it? It's turning me into a nervous wreck, I'm knicker checking every 20 mins or so because of it. I can't for the life of me remember whether I had this with DS or not, but I know I did with my 2 MCs.
