Don't worry scarlet, clear discharge isn't associated with MC although I can completely understand you feeling worried because it happened previously. Basically its hormonal and as long as its clear and not smelly (iykwim) then its nothing to worry about. Just horrid because as you say, it feels like bleeding. Can happen at any stage in pregnancy. here's too much info for you - towards the end of my pregnancy with DS I had to constantly wear sanitary towels, I was convinced it was my waters breaking for about 2 weeks but clearly it was just discharge.

good luck with early scan meconium, definitely reassuring at 8 weeks as most studies quote 95% chance of viable pregnancy after that.

pommedechocolat · 31/08/2011 12:20

Scarlett - I definitely have a lot of whitish discharge. Loads in fact. I think I remember having this with dd too.

scarletfingernail · 31/08/2011 12:44

Thanks both of you. That's so reassuring to know it's not just me. Having another wobbly day today as symptoms have disappeared again (apart from CM).

MeconiumHappens · 31/08/2011 18:14

Have just booked 8 weeks scan, two weeks tomorrow, woop woop woop! VERY excited, lot of fingers and toes crossed that all is well x

scarletfingernail · 31/08/2011 18:20

Good work Meconium another scan buddy to join myself, Biscuits and Deny Smile

DenyEverything · 31/08/2011 18:28

yay meconium! four scans in a two day period - how exciting!
When is everyone telling work (those of us that work that is)
Think I told them after 12 week scan last time.

just to let you all know, I have eaten a large bag of twiglets this afternoon at work without even realising it. Just kept putting my hand in my drawer and then into my mouth Confused

LoveInAColdClimate · 31/08/2011 18:33

Yay for all the scanning action! I have my 12 week scan tomorrow, weirdly nervous despite all being fine at eight weeks. Are anyone else's abs aching? Feels like I have done loads of sit ups but most categorically have not!

Biscuitsandtea · 31/08/2011 18:35

I've had 2 packs of crisps today Sad

They seem to be the thing if I feel queasy Confused (why couldn't it be carrots or something?)

I have an achey middle today - Bleh. I've done a fair bit of cleaning this afternoon and swept / mopped the floors and now feel like I've been doing sit ups all afternoon. Am hoping it is just a mixture of this and everything stretching Hmm

DH very politely said he thinks I look pregnant rather than fat (mind you, would you tell a pg lady she looked fat? Especially one who cooks your meals and irons your shirts? Smile)

Biscuitsandtea · 31/08/2011 18:37

That post was supposed to start with YAY for the scanning action Meconium me old scan buddy :)

And good luck tomorrow Love. I know I'll feel the same when ours comes round despite seeing everything at 8 weeks.

And see my other post about phantom sit ups!! That was a cross post - spooky!!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 31/08/2011 18:51

Yay for scan, Meconium!

Scarlet, I also have lots of white discharge. I have got a bit more used to it now but at first was convinced I was bleeding and kept having to check.

Deny, a large proportion of my colleagues already know Blush. The ones I'm close to, anyway, plus DH's entire office (we work for the same organisation but in different buildings).

I don't think I have any abs to ache!

Re the maternity bra discussion, Biscuits, I'm wearing underwired bras and haven't had any problems. Last time, I got fitted in Bravissimo at about 20 weeks, and the bras I bought turned out to be painfully tight when I wore them all day. Think the girl hadn't realised how much I might grow in pregnancy and insisted on taking me down a back size. I posted on here about how I'd had a bad Bravissimo experience and lo and behold, a Bravissimo person posted back apologising and telling me to contact my local store and they would arrange a re-fit. I did, and they swapped the bras for new, bigger ones even though I had already washed them a couple of times in the hope that that would stretch them. So, if you go back, you ought to be able to swap yours for no extra cost.

I can't remember what else I meant to say now - will have to go back and read the last couple of pages again!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/08/2011 18:51

Too I'm so happy your scan went well! I can never see anything when someone shows me their ultrasound pics, so I guess it's unlikely to be any different even when it's your own!

Jaggy I'm glad your appt went well! Grin at your little wee passenger in the boot!

Scarlet I can definitely confirm the cm symptom, there just seems to be loads of it!! I was thinking it might be something to do with my body creating a mucus plug perhaps? I'm not sure if I read that somewhere or if a strange little part of my brain just randomly made it up though!

Can I join everyone waiting for scans in two weeks please? I'm just about to book in a private 8 week scan - I don't think it's worth waiting until I've seen the mw because there's no reason for the nhs to give me an early scan for my first pg, and I really don't mind paying for it anyway.

In other news I believe morning sickness has arrived, projectile-style, 2 minutes before I desperately needed to leave the house this morning to get to my exam on time. Yay.

DenyEverything · 31/08/2011 18:52

excited about your scan tomorrow love! They may not be able to get past your rippling six pack from all those sit-ups Smile

Glad I'm not the only salty snack fiend around here biscuits. I've recently gone old-school and been eating those salt and vinegar twists. Lovely. Might graduate onto onion rings and frazzles next. Just as well I haven't seen a midwife yet as all this salt must be playing havoc with my blood pressure

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 31/08/2011 18:57

Oh no, poor Scream! Not the best time to start with morning sickness. Hope the exam went well anyway.

Mmm, salt and vinegar! I have a salt and vinegar Squares craving, but the last time I went looking for them they only had cheese and onion! Angry

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/08/2011 18:59

While typing my last post I managed to miss a whole host of new messages!!

Good luck to Love for tomorrow! That's so exciting! I will be thinking of you and Brooking No Argument tomorrow! What time is your appt?

Meconium yay for booking your 8 week scan! I'm just about to do the same right now...

I can see I'm going to be getting involved in the bra debate very very soon. I'm only 5 weeks and already my normal bras feel super uncomfortable. Also, my boobs hurt far more when I take the bra off at the end of the day! I'm sure they're constricting me already. Plus my boobs hurt so much when I take the bra off that it's impossible for me to lie on my front in bed, or even pull the covers up above my waist! I think I'm going to have to get a maternity sleeping bra (according to my pg book that's what I need anyway!) just to protect my sore nips at night!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/08/2011 19:02

Thanks Too! Luckily the exam was a computer-based one, so I got the result straight away and it was a pass! Grin Yay!

I managed to arrive on time solely because my DH very very kindly stepped in and offered to clear up the truly horrifying kitchen whilst I ran out the door!

Mmmmmmmmm Deny I love the sound of salt and vinegar twists, onion rings and especially frazzles! All you need is a pack of pickled onion monster munch to round it off!

DenyEverything · 31/08/2011 19:12

scream well done on the exam, especially post-vomit. Does your nausea feel better later in the day? You can have my anti-nausea wristbands if you like - oh no, wait, I threw them out of the window in a queasy rage that they were no flipping help at all

Also love the idea of a "truly horrifying" kitchen. Am working late tonight so fully expect to arrive home to a similar sight. My DH will have made more mess than the swedish chef from the Muppets just from taking some fishcakes out of a box and putting them in the oven.

scarletfingernail · 31/08/2011 19:13

I adore Frazzles and Twiglets. I also love the M&S bacon rashers. Monster Munch have to be beef flavour.

Scream congrats on passing your exam and also congrats on the morning sickness. That is a very good sign all is well with Squeak.

I have got a stinking headache. I stupidly decided last night that I was going to have to start drinking a bit less as I was fed up with the constant feeling of needing to pee. I don't want to take any paracetamol until I've passed 12 weeks and I can now hardly open my left eye. I've been drinking water by the bucket load for the last hour or so and this damn headache is not showing any sign on clearing off.

I've had a chesty cough for the last week that still seems to be getting worse, I can feel myself wheezing after I've finished breathing out. I'm worried that this constant coughing is going to cause my bean to fly out. Is that possible? I can feel my uterus pulling every time I cough. Just what I need, something else to start worrying about. Melodramatic? Moi?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/08/2011 19:27

Scarlet that's not melodramatic at all! As soon as I threw up I was worried the stomach contractions that go along with the puking would somehow harm little Squeak! I was of course completely ignoring the fact that the vast majority of pg women puke up all the way through their first trimester and still go on to have healthy babies! Hmm

Deny my nausea is definitely not feeling any better at the moment! I haven't eaten anything (except a bar of chocolate, for energy of course - ahem) since my lunch came back up earlier. I am therefore starving, but I have dinner sitting in front of me right now and I'm really not sure I can eat it. The smells are putting me off...

As for the horrifying kitchen earlier, did I mention that directly before I threw up I was eating pasta with a chunky tomato sauce and carrots... and that the vom managed to travel a surprising distance (in every direction!). My kitchen looked like a scene from a slasher flick!

8 week scan - booked Grin

jaggythistle · 31/08/2011 19:47

oh crap! the wee is still in my boot. along with my shiny new folder.

how long can a nearly 2 year old shout MUMMY before he eventually just crashes out and goes to sleep? it keeps going quiet, then he starts again. Grin he's not complaining about anything tonight, the other night it was his 'sticky nose' which needed wiped and another some essential toy had fallen out of the cot. yawn.

sorry to hear about all the vomit and headaches, hope they don't last too long.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/09/2011 09:25

I have a very very important pregnancy related question for y'all:

Does anyone know where / if I can still buy Walkers tomato ketchup flavour crisps?

I'm sure you'll appreciate the importance of this issue - perhaps I should ring my midwife? Wink

pommedechocolat · 01/09/2011 09:28

Oh my god - I'd forgotten all about those. They were lush. I seem to remember a worcestershire sauce one too.

I have just had flaming hot monster munch. Delicious.

jaggythistle · 01/09/2011 09:53

no the wee is still in there Shock

didn't get a chance to sort it this morning. by the time DS went to sleep last night i was just about ready for bed myself, think i was asleep by half 9. he slept till nearly 7 today so hopefully back to normal.

DenyEverything · 01/09/2011 09:57

Loving all this crisp talk! I had some Worcestershire sauce walkers the other day - from a teeny tiny co-op near work- random! biscuits good luck on your quest for ketchup flavour- not seen them in ages.

jaggy your DS sounds exactly like mine- nearly 2 and very keen on shouting "mummyyyy" endlessly when he doesn't want to sleep. We are woken at 6am daily with that very sound. He's relentless, will start with "daddy" after about 5 minutes though.

DenyEverything · 01/09/2011 09:59

scarlet you poor thing with the cough. Still, think of every cough as a pelvic floor exercise - you'll have the bladder of champions!
