Today I have had an argument with a pillar at the entrance to the underground car park at work. The car came off worst. Blush It is all scraped along the passenger side, has a nice dent in the passenger door, and both pieces of door trim came off and exposed all the little holes where they were stuck on. Stupid plastic dowel-thingies! It is my first bump since passing my test last October - I figure I'm allowed one.

Gosh, the TTC thread has exploded with BFPs! It's moving so fast I can't keep up!

Purplebuns · 18/08/2011 19:50

Really newbies, how exciting!

I put some baking soda in a glass and wee'd on it. I have a glass devoted to such pursuits inc. opks and pg tests lovely ay?

This thread is awash with good news :) and soon wee and baking soda

Biscuitsandtea · 18/08/2011 20:21

Hope you have a good break, or waht's left of it. Glad your scan went well. Take care, and v v v glad that the vomiting has reduced to a manageable amount!

I think I will probably do the baking soda thing at some point - enjoying a break from weeing into pots just at the moment but perhaps when I am past my 12 week scan..... I should refer you to the ttc thread's great expertise on the use of ramekins for this sort of purpose....

Too are you OK after your little meeting with the car park? I hate car parks - as long as you are ok that is all that matters. Cars are there for bumping :)

Can't believe all the BFPs on the ttc thread - clear scientific proof that brooking works!

Love so sorry to hear that you are in need of a glittery bucket - please take your pick from the selection available. I'd get in quick before those newbies nick all the best ones Wink

Also, I've updated the stats thread - anyone else want to just on it here?

Laters preggos - I'm off to cook tea :)

DenyEverything · 19/08/2011 09:44

Hello ladies

Too, sorry to hear about your argument with a pillar. I feel that we should brook no argument where poorly-placed pillars are concerned, they deserved to be scraped with plastic dowel-thingies wherever possible.

great news with all the BFP action on TTC thread. This place is filling up.

Today I have to buy some chicken-fillet things to fill my bra for a wedding on Sunday where my "bridesmaid" dress (am far too old to be a bridesmaid) makes me look extremely flat chested. I may even wear my nausea sweatbands to the shop. To think I used to consider myself quite sophisticated. Now I'm buying bra-fillers whilst wearing sky-blue sweatbands Sad

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 19/08/2011 10:14

Thank you Biscuits and Deny! Cars are there for bumping. Now please will you tell DH that? He's not very pleased with me. I am absolutely fine, by the way - I wasn't going very fast at all and I wasn't even shaken. In fact, I don't understand how I did so much damage, given how slowly I was going!

Have not yet tried the baking soda - got distracted by dinner. Will do it tonight.

Arf at chicken fillets and sweatbands! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 19/08/2011 10:46

We had a very stupid car park at one of my offices once - I'd only worked there about 1 week when i managed to do a similar all-down-the-side-job on my car (which I had also only had about 2 weeks).

I was mortified about telling DH (who was amazing and only worried about me - if it had been my parents they would have FLIPPED OUT!). But then I had to admit it to my NEW work colleagues. I was prepared to be totally embarrassed and for them to think I was a total moron and in fact they all just said 'oh yes, we've all done that - did you see that dent on that pillar there (pillars had metal boxes at the bottom - they hadn't dented concrete), that was my car, and that scratch over there was this other person...' I felt a bit better after that.

I assumed that (as my mum would have done) DH would have gone spare, but he just said 'oh cars are for bumping and all that matters is you' and that is pretty much my mantra for any car incidents now :) (not that I ever scratch the car obv....Blush). It's nicer though because DH isn't cross with me and I'm not cross with him, in fact I feel better if he has caught a wall or something as it's not just me.

Obviously I mean I feel better if he has a 'scraping a pillar in a car park' type accident - not a real accident - I'm not mental.

dreamfeeder · 19/08/2011 10:50

ohh, but scraping cars i do know!!! I had a little 'kiss' with a metal barrier on a very narrow bridge- like 2 inches on either side of the car- and they gave it an AMBER alert on the MOT for moderate damage to the wheel arch. How rude. And that was due to immunisations

screaming baby + immunisations = bang car. No other option.

Biscuitsandtea · 19/08/2011 10:55

Pick a bucket Dream :)

We'll reserve it for you until you're ready to come through the doors!

The baking soda thing is something about guessing the sex of the baby - I think you wee on the baking soda (yet another use for a ramekin!) and if it fizzes, it's a boy, if it doesn't it's a girl (or if it doesn't fizz much or something). Surely your DH must use scientific methods like that all the time in his line of work? Wink

I think I might try it but a bit further down the line - too scared of jinxing just now.....

pommedechocolat · 19/08/2011 11:04

I have so missed weeing on things that I may try the baking soda later.

scarletfingernail · 19/08/2011 13:40

So this is where you are. I hope there's room for another comfy chair and glittery bucket. I've been on the TTC thread just over a month and already got a BFP! Feeling rather freaked out as this is the third time I've been pregnant in the last 10 months so will just pop in and out for the time being if that's ok?

Biscuitsandtea · 19/08/2011 13:43
Purplebuns · 19/08/2011 13:54

Dreamfeeder, Scarletfingernail Welcome :)

Scarlet I was in your shoes two months ago, on pregnancy number 3 in 10 months to! I am now 10+5!!
In fact it is a year to the day, today, I got the first bfp and it is my first wedding anniversary tomorrow.
I have been hoping third time lucky and I really hope this is the case for you :)

Will you be having an early scan? I had one at 7+4 and it was worth every penny, although your pct might give you a early scan?

Pomme pmsl missed weeing on things!

I actually ate very well at lunch today, such a nice change, although I am craving black pudding Confused

DenyEverything · 19/08/2011 14:37

welcome dream and scarlet. Here's hoping its third time lucky for you and purps. Feel free to pop in and out, there'll always be a spare glittery bucket for when the pukeage starts.

Black pudding eh purps? Interesting. I've just eaten some BBQ hula hoops in record time and want more. Goodness knows what patients must think to see an NHS employee filling up on junk food in the local co-op, will have to start going further afield for furtive crisp purchasing.

congrats on your anniversary too. Are you doing anything nice? Maybe a trip to the local butchers to purchase some black pudding would suffice Wink

Purplebuns · 19/08/2011 14:50

I have a very romantic excursion to the school tailor with my little sister to buy her uniform, she is living with us at the moment and tomorrow was the only chance! Also due to the £££s of this we can't really do anything else.

I think we might pick up some steak for dinner and try and spend a bit of time together. As for black pudding my favourite is Burys which I may get some more, but I have eaten a packet in the last two days Blush I am assuming it has lots of iron in it or something heathy...? :o

On another note I have my labour debrief on Sunday could be upsetting :(

DenyEverything · 19/08/2011 15:02

Steak and a quiet dinner sounds perfect purp. Think black pudding is definitely full of iron and other good stuff. Goodness knows why I'm wanting crisps Blush. I seem to be craving junk and only junk.

Labour debrief? Forgive my ignorance but what does that involve? Hoping its not too upsetting for you. Make sure you plan something nice for afterwards. Hope its ok.

pommedechocolat · 19/08/2011 15:06

I just want rubbish too. Hope the Pregnacare vitamins are working otherwise this baby's going to look like the confectionary aisle in Tesco.

Purplebuns · 19/08/2011 15:12

Deny going through my labour notes with DD and helping to understand the scary bits, it has a lot of relevance for me as it will decide where I have the baby. I dilated 3 to 9cm in an hour and I don't want to be pushing a baby out in the car park. I think the rapid dilation was because of all the interference, which I also want to clarify!

Pomme I thought DD was going to be a cheese sandwich but she was fine :o

DenyEverything · 19/08/2011 15:18

purp its important you feel confident about the birth this time round isn't it? can understand the potential for it to be upsetting though. Hope it goes OK and am sure you'll feel better afterwards.

pomme I hear you on worrying about what we're eating. Seems crazy to me that I'm normally pretty good at resisting all this rubbish but right now anything healthy makes my stomach turn. On that note, its a chippy tea for us again tonight Grin

dreamfeeder · 19/08/2011 17:11

Confident about the birth? If this thread will give me that I'm sticking around. Once I'm brave enough to move in of course

Healthy eating doesn't appeal to me in pregnancy either. Have had pizza for tea twice this week already... doh. must try harder...

dreamfeeder · 19/08/2011 17:12

Oh- and do i actually need to swap from the Pregnacare conception to the Pregnacare Preggers one or can i just wait til i run out then do it? bearing in mind i've taken 5 in total so far

DenyEverything · 19/08/2011 17:31

I think I just carried on with Pregnacare conception dream. But I am tight Smile

At the moment all I can stomach is tiny mini folic acid tablets in the mornings. Will go back on the pregnacare horse pills if and when this nausea fades.

Put some broccoli on the pizza for your folate Grin

scarletfingernail · 19/08/2011 17:40

I am a complete wimp when it comes to swallowing tablets and if I'm ever prescribed something I ask for it in liquid form Blush

There is no way I can swallow Pregnacare. I've seen my friend's and I cannot believe it's possible. I am however taking a selection of individual vitamins that are all small tablets which include

folic acid
vitamin d
vitamin b6
vitamin b complex

I've been taking the folic acid since last September and the B complex for about a month. I've only started with the vitamin D's and B6 today. Is that a similar concoction as to what's in Pregnacare?

pommedechocolat · 19/08/2011 17:41

Can't have dream and scarlet over doing things!

scarletfingernail · 19/08/2011 17:42

Grin thanks pomme
