I am 'working' from home today with dd at nursery - bliss! Felt better over the last couple of weeks but now feeling awful again. Really tired and faint.

Great news Too!

Biscuits - update as soon as you can, sitting here with fingers crossed for you and your cake tin shaped belly.

pommedechocolat · 17/08/2011 10:16

Oh and another question for you all post an appointment with my haemotologist yesterday (I am so shaping up to be the 'needy' one on this thread..)

How many children are you thinking of having? Is anyone else pg and thinking about subsequent pgs too?

See this is pg number 2 and whilst dh is stuck on just 2 I have always thought about having 3. Doctor told me yesterday that if I just had two would be better and even in the middle of feeling pg yucky feel a little upset.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 10:22

Awww Pomme I can understand how that would make you feel a bit sad. No one likes to have choices 'taken away' from them. It's hard to say so far in advance surely what sort of position you'd be in after this baby is born though isn't it?

This will (hopefully) be DC 2 for us and we had both always wanted 2. Oddly though when we were on holiday we both said that we actually wouldn't mind 3 - weird that we both had the thought at the same time-ish as we had both been independently thinking it. Of course it was all a bit ambitious since at the time we hadn't even managed to get pg with no 2..... Hmm. To be fair though after the stress of ttc this time I don't think I would want to start that again. I could maybe be a bit lax with contraception but don't think I could commit to ttc after this. Also, I'm 34 this year so by the time I'd had this one and got round to trying again I'd be into the region of declining fertility so would probably be even more stressful....

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 10:22

When I say this is (hopefully) DC2, I mean that hopefully this pg produces a child, not hopefully I already have one. I mean I know I already have one.......

DenyEverything · 17/08/2011 10:38

I'll be 37 this year. Always thought I would only want one but recently decided we'd like another. Think this will be our last though (if all goes well with this pg obviously) as I think working part-time/commuting etc etc with 3 young children would just be too much.

pomme I think it is difficult to hear that you "shouldn't" get pregnant again. Its easy for a health professional to give you the "ideal world" advice but life isn't like that. It would still be your choice if you did decide on another, you're the one going through all the tests/stress/feeling unwell and it sounds as though you're being monitored carefully. Try not to dwell on that conversation too much, its not a decision you have to make now or in the near future.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 17/08/2011 10:46

Morning! Any update, Biscuits?

Pomme, I started off this morning by throwing up while I was cleaning my teeth. Envy This is my little green face. I had been feeling better, too! It was the smell of the toothpaste that did it. Also, my sense of smell is like a bloodhound's. I was wandering around the living room (this is a bit gross) last night wondering why I could smell poo, thinking perhaps the dog had had an accident, and then discovered that the smell was coming from the bathroom, but DH had used it an hour and a half ago and yet the smell seemed so strong I was wondering if the septic tank had backed up! I sent DH to investigate and he said he couldn't smell anything. Ick.

I am also thinking about having more children. DH and I want 3 (well, DH actually wants about 17, but we have compromised on 3) or 4 at the maximum. If I have a Caesarean this time, then it might limit the number of children I could have, so perhaps I should just let them induce me (I'm to be delivered at 38 weeks). Except that I am too scared to go through labour again! I know I would probably be fine with 3 or 4 C-sections - look at Posh - but there is always the chance that something might happen and I might find myself unable to have any more, and that would be awful.

pommedechocolat · 17/08/2011 10:56

Thanks everyone for sharing all that. Sometimes the medical reality of things is a bit scary and I tend to prefer to sweep my issue under the carpet rather than think/talk/feel about it.

DenyEverything - You're right, it's not an immediate problem it's a bridge to cross if and when. Who knows I may be unable to cope with two!!

Maybe lax contraception is the answer Biscuits! I also really didn't enjoy ttc number 2.

Yuck, yuck to strong sense of smell for poo Too. On TV they always show that with cinnamon or someting, not turds!

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 11:17

Scan not until this afternoon Too, and my sense of smell is ridiculous too. I keep cooking things and then any lingering smells after the meal make me feel so awful that I can't face cooking that meal again. I'm gradually running out of things to cook......

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 18:32

Afternoon ladies.

Well, we had the scan and there was a wee jelly bean in the right place and a teeny tiny little flickering heartbeat too Grin. It measured at 19mm which makes me 8+3 (a bit further along than I thought but not complaining at that). Very relieved for the time being. The lady said that that brings the chance of a m/c down to 90% or something until 12 weeks when it drops even lower. But I am glad just to have seen a heartbeat. When we had our m/c although it was at 10 weeks the sac had stopped developing at 5 or 6 weeks. I know anything can happen at any time but still, it's a step in the right direction.

Thank you all for your support for this - it really did make it easier for me - thank you :)

Hope you are all well too xxx

pommedechocolat · 17/08/2011 19:22

Yay!! Go biscuits!!

LoveInAColdClimate · 17/08/2011 20:07

Yay, Biscuits! I was told at my 8 week scan that a heartbeat at 8 weeks means your chances of MC drops to 2% so really, really positive.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 20:20

Thank you ladies Smile - I am so buying some appletise tomorrow!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 17/08/2011 20:28

Yay for Biscuits! Love the lovely scans. I'm so pleased for you!

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 17/08/2011 20:43

Hurrah for biscuits and too (I know I am a bit behind Blush )!

What super great brooking no argument action from everyone :o

Purplebuns · 17/08/2011 21:20

Congratulations on all the healthy beans! I was told the risk was 3% after a heartbeat :)

Pomme we keep borrowing those pom poms maybe we should just steal them buy some?

My sickness actually seems to be getting worse, I threw up my chips and beans which was all I fancied for tea so quite peeved about that!

For those asking about the baking soda test there is a link here it was posted in a thread on the pregnancy topic but I couldn't see it again.. Anyway you wee on some baking soda and if it fizzes up you are having a boy and if it fizzles a little bit or not at all it is a girl.

As far as DC are concerned this will be my second and probably last, I find pregnancy, difficult and having two MC I don't know if I can cope with it all again.
However, if broodiness does strike then another could be on the cards! I am also quite young so apparently have 'years of healthy ovaries' according to my gp. I would love four but money and all that.I also have a worry that I will think oh just one more and then find I can't cope with the amount of children I have Confused

Maybe we should put on the stats the gender and ages of our children?
Also curious about the results of the definitive baking soda test Wink
Is anyone going to find out at their scan what they are having? I can't decide!

DenyEverything · 18/08/2011 08:26

biscuits am delighted for you! Excellent news.

purple your baking soda idea sounds hilarious. We should definitely all do it and post the results. We're finding out the gender this time (didn't last time) for practical reasons really as we have friends with boys due so can give DS's stuff to them if we're expecting a girl. I really feel like it's a girl this time and was sure I was having a boy last time (50/50 chance of being right I realise)

Am feeling pretty grotty too. Almost went to sleep on an examination couch yesterday at work but realised that's probably a bit unprofessional Blush

DH was awake in the night and insisted on waking me up to tell me he couldn't sleep. Why do men do that?

DenyEverything · 18/08/2011 08:55

Good work biscuits

I've just got some of those acupressure wrist bands that are meant to help nausea. Not great to wear for work when people don't know you're pregnant. They're going to think I've started dressing like John McEnroe. All I need now is a matching head band. They're even made of towelling.

pommedechocolat · 18/08/2011 09:05

Where do I pee on the baking soda?! Garden in front of neighbours? Bathroom floor like dd? Surely I don't put it down the toilet? Am confused.

I will definitely be finding out PurpleBuns. We did with dd and I really enjoyed knowing who was in my bump! I liked being more focused practically to.

Maybe we should persuade all the newbies to test out the headbands? Tell them we all did it or something??

DenyEverything · 18/08/2011 09:08

Yes the sweat bands can be the initiation thing! Oh, and I wouldn't mind if the bloody things worked but they don't. Unless the idea is that the itch they cause takes your mind off puking. In which case, they're fantastic.

allhailtheaubergine · 18/08/2011 11:59

Hello all!

You ain't seen me, right?

I am somewhere in the arse end of beyond. No internet.

No time to catch up on everyone's news. Have scanned through and all looks good? Do hope so, and welcome to the noobs, fresh from rat smacking.

All fine here. Have reduced vomiting to a sensible once or twice a day. Am eating fairly normally. Have had another scan and blood clot seems to have gone. All GOOD! Will be back in another couple or so weeks.

Love to all xxx

LoveInAColdClimate · 18/08/2011 12:00

Distressingly, I have started Actually Puking at 9+4. Bleh. No time for more as have to return to desk to spend most of the time with one hand on my bin just in case. Delightful.

LoveInAColdClimate · 18/08/2011 12:06

Oh, x post with Aubers! Hello!

pommedechocolat · 18/08/2011 14:01

Woop woop for aubers! Hello, we all miss you.

DenyEverything · 18/08/2011 17:39

aubers great news about scan!

love please help yourself to itchy seabands. I've left several around the vomitarium. They even leave lovely marks on your wrists which will make people think you have interesting scars. May take your mind off puking?
