Hi Pomme - I know what you mean about needing your sleep - we go to bed before 10 too and that was pre pg - I'd be a complete write off without sleep. And like you I don't know what I'd do if DS didn't sleep through Shock.

I have to say we haven't had any bedrooom action since we found out. And I think I know why. We never had any last time I was pg either (or not any 'proper' action iyswim) and it's because DH feels a bit weird about there 'being a baby in there'. So slightly different I guess because in our case I don't think DH could actually do it. I know lots of men still want to throughout pg and it is perfectly safe and everything but I think it is reasonably common too that a lot of men feel a bit weird about it too. Suited me though as I was knackered all the time I didn't really mind Blush.

This sounds awful too but ttc had become such a chore for us because it had taken so long and was all about the right days and all that rubbish and it kind of completely took the fun out of everything (which we both admitted). Actually dtd was still good (mostly) but getting in the mood felt like a drag a lot of the time and like we HAD to do it even if we were both tired (often the case as DH works about 80 hour weeks!) So I know this sounds terrible but I am slightly enjoying having a bit of a break from swi. I think DH feels a bit the same too.

So i guess that isn't much help at all really Pomme as no bedroom action but not sure DH wants any.

By the way I am aware that this post makes it sounds as if DH and I had a terrible sex life while ttc that was all choresome (it wasn't THAT bad) and now we don't want to do it at all which probably makes us sound a bit odd and it really shouldn't. It's just the way things have gone. I think because we didn't dtd last time i was pg I think DH doesn't expect to this time. Plenty of other ways to have fun though Wink

DenyEverything · 15/08/2011 09:54

pomme I was thinking the very same thing this morning. Poor DH has had no sniff of any action for weeks now and I'm in bed by 9.30 every night while he reads his book. I keep trying to tell him that when I'm out of my bubble of nausea I will be a bit more responsive but we've never gone for weeks like this without any bedroom action Sad

biscuits I think that's a common issue with TTC isn't it? At least you're both feeling the same way about having a breather from it!

Ah well ladies, not to worry. Once we reach the white-floaty dress stage of pregnancy when we're skipping along with our neat little bumps and glossy thick hair we'll be extremely sexy. And we'll brook no argument - there will be no swollen ankles, bladder weakness or heartburn. Oh no.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 16:12

Oh my goodness I think I might be getting a bit of a 'bump' already and I'm not even 8 weeks yet :(

To put this in context I have a lot bit of a tum to start off with (I am blaming DS and not at all the biscuit lifestyle that I lead Blush) but if I feel across my tummy today it's like it comes out right in the middle. Whereas normally my spare tyre just goes all the way round it is like it comes in about 1/5 from each side and the there is a 'corner' and it protrudes more (difficult to explain).

Weird? Too early for poking out? Not visible yet to the untrained eye and easily disguisable as fat still!

So I'm thinking that on one hand, but then bricking it that I'll go for the scan on Wednesday and find no-one home in there :( EEEEEEKKKK

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 15/08/2011 20:20

Hello all. I know I haven't posted for ages but I have been lurking like some kind of secret ninja :)

Got my scan letter and it is on the 5 September so 3 weeks to go. Hurrah! I am really terribly excited!

I've read that it is generally normal to go off sex during the 1st trimester. I, however, am obviously some kind of sex fiend as whenever I have a brief moment of not feeling sick or so exhausted I could keel over I am stupidly randy. Luckily DP doesn't seem to mind at all so far :o

Oh Biscuit, I have just the same belly issue. I had recently lost quite a bit of wieght and dropped a couple of dress sizes but still had something of a belly. I've noticed that it's ok in the morning but over the day it kind of goes more sticky out and really hard making me look about 5 months pregnant already. DP has suggested that I ensure I am carrying a file infront of my stomach at all times while at work until we can come out. Hmm

pommedechocolat · 15/08/2011 20:23

Thanks all - am hoping it will pass as well and I will at least be up for things once in a blue moon rather than never!

Ooo Hiding - old wives say that randiness = a boy!

I also have a belly that in the am is a little bump and by the evening looks like a may give birth anytime soon.

Biscuit - in my mind you now look like you've swallowed a cake tin :)

Purplebuns · 15/08/2011 20:51

Hi, everyone long time no post, I have been mega busy!
I too am having bump issues!
I had to dress to try and disguise things at a family bbq as it is fairly high and to the front. I am plenty stretched though as this is the third time I have got so farHmm However, 10 weeks on the clock and I am relaxing a little bit now, just need to get you past this point Biscuits :)

Also, I know I am having another girl as I did the definitive baking soda test Wink

Hiding your scan is four days after mine how exciting we are getting so close!

Does anyone else have to have a midwife appt just have blood pressure taken between booking in and your scan? I do and I just can't be bothered!

We have a new family member, a little ginger kitten bit of an impulse purchase but he is a dear little chap although goes against my rescuing ways!

Since everyone has been talking about bedroom antics... Now that I am feeling less worried we have been a bit busy. Might even do it again very soon Blush

Anyway, did you know Ben and Jerrys is half price at Tescos?

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 15/08/2011 21:03

mmmm... ice cream......

Purple was there anything unusual with yout BP when you had your booking in? I don't have another midwife appointment until october. Though I have noticed that what appointments you have when seems to be differant everywhere.

Oh, ginger toms are the best. So big and cuddly. I am jealous! :o

Pomme I am pretty certain that it will be a boy. DP's family haven't had a girl for generations so I am a bit worried that should the miracle occur and I have a girl they will all think I have had an affair. Mind you his mother would probably die of excitement as I am sure the poor woman is desperate for a granddaughter.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 21:07

Oh my goodness - maybe that is what I've done Purple - I wouldn't put it past myself to have accidentally eaten the tin too... Confused

Exciting news about the scans that are upcoming - not long to go. I am so hoping I'm still in the game on Wednesday afternoon Confused

I'm quite lucky about the hiding it thing as (a) people would think I'd just put weight on and (b) I'm not working this pg so can just wear looser clothes / jumpers etc. I like the idea of carrying a file everywhere though Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 21:09

Oh, and I meant to ask, what definitive baking soda test is this? I do love these completely factual scientific tests.....

Purplebuns · 15/08/2011 21:14

My blood pressure was fine apparently, it is just standard stupid!

Biscuits not working Envy I think I will be a sahm after this baby though as childcare is so expensive. I hope I get on ok with that it will be weird not working. And I am sure you will be in, I have found that on days when I have been worried about a lack of symptoms I have had quite a few it is just that I have normalised it, so don't notice. Fingers crossed, an exciting week on this thread!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/08/2011 21:20

You will still be in the game, Biscuits! Brook No Argument, remember?

Now please tell me the same thing, as I have had a bit of brown spotting today and managed to freak myself right out. Blush It may be the aftermath of DTD yesterday for the first time since BFP. DH is a bit less keen on the sex when I'm pregnant but not to the extent of not doing it for 9 months. I think he was scared in case he dislodged something (because his dick is just that big Hmm and can penetrate through the cervix...do men know anything about the human body?).

What is the baking soda test, Purple? I want to do it! And yay for your new kitten, it sounds adorable! I would love to be able to get a kitten but my dog would eat it. He's a whippet cross Staffie and goes bananas when he spots cats.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/08/2011 21:25

Also definitely looking pregnant already. Sigh! Oh well. So long as no one is rude enough to comment then I don't care. Last time my bloody FIL arrived for a visit when I was about 15 weeks and said 'no one else will tell you honestly, but I will. You're starting to show.' I was like did I ask? No! And I was still in my normal jeans so I didn't really think I was showing - and it took some guys at work until about 6 months to notice. All the women had twigged (or been told) a lot earlier, mind you.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 21:35

Too was just about to write a post wishing you good luck for tomorrow - you're right we are BROOKING NO ARGUMENTS here! Brown spotting is probably nothing at all to worry about. And at least you have the scan tomorrow to put your mind at rest Smile. Look forward to hearing about it. How many weeks are you again?

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 21:36

Of course Too that would be the point of our stats thread - you're 7 weeks ish?

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 16/08/2011 08:58

I'm sooooooo tired I could just sleep forever. I think we should be allowed togo into hibernation for the first trimester. I managd till 3pm at work yesterday and I only have a desk job, I just don't know how you A&E nurses and people with actual physical jobs and horrid hours manage it. I think I am just rubbish :(

Well that's enough moaning from me! Good luck for scan today. Brook no arguement! :)

OP posts:
LoveInAColdClimate · 16/08/2011 13:20

Too, have you had your scan yet? Hope all went well?

I have had to buy some maternity trousers for work Blush. I couldn't do any of the others up, as a result of which I had to go to a meeting on Friday wearing a rather odd emergency outfit.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 15:01

Hope today has gone well Too xx

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 15:36

Somebody make me think of something OTHER than my scan tomorrow!!!! Confused

I'm in a blur and 100% distracted. Poor old DS keeps talking to me and I am doing to him what DH does when I speak and the football or cricket is on! Mmm hhmmm yes sweetheart uh huh!!

Bad Mummy Biscuits Angry

Someone please take my mind off it :(

This time tomorrow I'll know the answer......

DenyEverything · 16/08/2011 16:22

Just a short one as on phone. Day off so am looking after DS. Knackered.

Just wanted to say hope scan went well too and that brown spotting v common in early preg, rarely anything to worry about.

biscuits this time tomorrow you'll feel so much better. That show about cakes is on tonight. I've never watched it before but for some reason I quite fancy half an hour of unadulterated sugar worshipping. Will that take your mind off things? Oh, and theres 2 for 1 Gu puddings at tescos. Ok - I will stop going on about cakes now

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 16:34

I hear you Deny for being tired looking after DS. I just want to go and have a nap. Was so tempted to have a nap when he did this afternoon but had a man coming to fit a blackout blind in his room so had to stay awake. Then of course he woke up straight after the blind man (not in the visually impaired sense) had gone. Would love to just curl up and sleep though.

Last night I was just heading up to bed thinking 'wow it was really tiring looking after DS today' but then remembered that in fact he'd been at nursery all day and I thought I was at the end of today. Then this morning I woke up and thought it was tomorrow so nearly got up and took him back to nursery again. I am a mess!

Feel sick today but not m/s sick, more like nervous sick about tomorrow I think.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 16/08/2011 18:57

Hello! Sorry to be so late updating - being back at work is really eating into my MNing time.

I have had my scan and I am 6+5 and the proud possessor of a teeny tiny bean baby with a teeny tiny (but quite visible) heartbeat! It is only 8mm long - it's not even the size of a bean yet! Maybe a pea. A petit pois? I was petrified beforehand because the technician was really dubious after quizzing me about my dates and when exactly I had had the BFP - she said I could well be only 6 weeks and in that case she might not be able to see anything, but she did! I have a picture of a tiny blob.

I also have a new scan booked in 2 weeks, because my booking scan has been shifted back to account for me not really being 8 weeks. It is just for reassurance, though, not for any medical reason. The Early Pregnancy Unit MW was really nice and understanding and said she could arrange for me to be scanned as often as I liked.

Biscuits, you will be fine tomorrow! Everything will be ok.

Query: if the baby is only 8mm long, how come my trousers dig into my waist so much? Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 19:05

Oh Too that is soooooo super exciting!!! Congratulations. How great to be able to see the heartbeat and everything. I'm so so pleased for you. And pleased too that they are taking good care of you. Grin Grin Grin

LoveInAColdClimate · 16/08/2011 19:47

Oh, Too, that's lovely. Good luck tomorrow, Biscuits.

DenyEverything · 17/08/2011 09:00

too that's great news. So exciting! "fluid" is the excuse I always give when wondering why my belly is expanding. Keep saying that. "fluid".

biscuits thinking of you today, am sure all will be fine. Keep us posted!

love I am intrigued by your "odd" emergency outfit. Describe please!

I keep having people barge into my office seeing me covered in crumbs shutting my top drawer hastily and looking guilty. They all clearly think I'm an over-eater Blush

LoveInAColdClimate · 17/08/2011 09:36

It was more odd in context, Deny - I was stuck in a three hour meeting of lawyers and construction professionals wearing grey suits while I was wearing a black, red and purple striped jersey dress which I could get into! It's a nice dress but that was definitely not its natural environment...
