Thanks for all of your good advice on expressing and kind words. I'm feeling a lot more positive today. Ethan is definitely blessed with some interesting grandparents (all four of them)!

Our trip into work went really well. We must have had about 20 women all crowding round us ooing and aahing every time Ethan did anything, all saying that he was the smallest baby they had ever seen. I'm sure that the department manager was getting worried, there is quite a spate of pregnancies at work at the moment and the office is full of women in their early thirties in stable relationships who were all fascinated with Ethan Smile Ethan was very good, didn't cry once even though he was passed around lots, although he did do some very loud farts while the payroll manager was holding him Grin!!

I defintely second Clarkiee's tip to write a list of all the baby presents you receive. When I was in hospital DH brought in some clothes for Ethan and one of the items was a beautiful hand knitted cardigan. I didn't recognise it as being something which we had bought so asked him who it had come from. He told me that he had "found it in the nursery" Confused. We have since found another anonymous present in the nursery and he thinks that he can remember two people from his work giving him presents which aren't on the list so their thank you cards will have to be a bit ambiguous just thanking them for the lovely clothes as we're not sure who gave us what!

Congratulations on your little boy misshoohaa Smile

Get well soon Percy.

BarbieLovesKen · 14/06/2011 21:00

Just a quick one to thank you all for your lovely messages, Kate is perfect (biased? Me?) and we're madly in love.

crazy can't stop thinking of you and am really feeling it for you now, hope so much that you get to meet your little one very soon.

nurse the itching sounds like hell, you poor thing Sad and Angry to stupid doctor.

massive, massive congratulations to mshooha, can't wait to hear all the details once you have a chance.

Will be checking in to see how Percy is doing, hope you both are ok mother.

Came home earlier today, will post birth story soon (dh missed it Sad) just Way too busy sniffing and smelling, kissing and cuddling this wee girl.

NurseSunshine · 14/06/2011 21:06

Are all you new mums recovering physically OK, by the way?

OP posts:
moomin156 · 14/06/2011 21:13

i agree with the lists for presents........in fact i keep a stack of thankyou cards ans stamps by the list and try to wrte thrm as they arrive. If you leave it too long then i personally find it tedious to do too many at a time. if i do them straight away they are more personal

sasamaxx · 14/06/2011 21:26

Nurse - yep - I have to say tummy muscles still feel quite weak but other than that, feel mostly back to normal.
Still some water retention going on in calves right enough.

Re thank you cards - I'm just going to order the photo ones from photobox with a generic 'thank you for your baby gift'.
It is a wee bit lazy, but then they get a nice wee photo too Smile

neenewps · 14/06/2011 22:25

MOSP hope Percy gets better soon.

nurse hope the itching gets resolved v.soon.

Short post tonight from me. TMI alert: I have just had the most dreadful upset stomach Sad my stomach was gurgling away and more embarrassingly I was at a girls house from NCT group Blush

Hope everyone is else is ok and probably post tomorrow.

Thornykate · 14/06/2011 23:52

Just popping in to say get well soon Percy & hope mosp & the family are bearing up ok, hope you are back home soon xx

Merlion · 15/06/2011 04:47

MOSP was thinking of you and that you hadn't posted for a while. Sorry to hear Percy not so good. Hope he will be back home with you soon.

Miss congratulations on your little boy.

Sasa sorry to hear Celeste still upset.

milliemuffin · 15/06/2011 07:02

How do/did you all manage sex in the last couple of weeks? We've just tried but failed Sad every way hurt. Don't think we'll be trying that again! Having said that if I'd known the time I'd have told DP where to go anyway! Smile

Hope all mums are babies are ok today. How many are left to pop? Xx

motherofsnortpigs · 15/06/2011 07:17

Percy thanks all his well wishers. The results of his blood culture should be back this morning, and if they are clear he will be allowed home. He has a very deep sacral dimple so needs an ultrasound scan to check it is sealed off. I think I can bring him as an out patient. My parents fly in today :)

takethatlady · 15/06/2011 07:30

Congrats misshooha! Can't wait to hear more!

millie sex feels fine for me but I've read a lot of women saying the same thing about pain ... I've got absolutely no idea why it works for some but not for others. I'd go with prisoner's method if I were you Grin

milliemuffin · 15/06/2011 07:56

TTL think I'll pass on that one thanks!

Is anyone still waiting for me to add them to the fb group?

crumbletastic · 15/06/2011 08:13

Congratulations on your little boy misshoohaa, have you any idea on a name yet?

I also get the stabbing pains into cerviz occasionally muffin I originaly though it was a stray arm poking but the head is a little engaged now so a poky arm or foot can't stab there so I have no idea what it is.

Glads you have been ok'd to use the birth pool super I was ruled out immediately last pregnancy as high risk with high blood pressure but it has only just become obvious at 39 weeks that I am free of it this time and now I'm not sure if I have left it to late to mention it to a midwife to see if anything else rules me out. I would love to give it a try.

Hope percy is able to go home today mother

takethatlady · 15/06/2011 08:18

I get the stabbing pains too and I put it down to the head screwing in Grin

On a completely separate note, what do those of you who are already mums wear for nursing? I'm looking around on the internet for nursing dresses/tops but we've basically run out of money and I don't want to fork out loads for these things if they're not really necessary. Someone told me to wear two vest tops, rolling one up and one down, but I can't imagine the logistics!

moomin156 · 15/06/2011 08:30

TTL i wear a nursing bra and normal tops ( usually empire line sort) if i am out and dont want to expose myself i have a nursing cover from ebay. i find a normal top with a cardi and you generally own show a little bit skin after they are latched on

takethatlady · 15/06/2011 08:35

Thanks moomin - I've seen some of the nursing covers and might go for one of them. Mainly worried about getting my boobs out in front of my dad, my father-in-law, etc etc ...

moomin156 · 15/06/2011 08:47

nursing cover is the answer then..........a big pinny that hides everything :)

jasmine51 · 15/06/2011 08:48

Millie I think we're about half way through the popping list. My due date is today but add a couple of weeks to that and that takes us to the end of the month...then there's those who aren't due til the end. Looking forward to the lovely birth stories til at least the first half of July.

Caught the last 10 minutes of that programme last night about the neo natal unit...defo bad viewing for anyone still due to pop or with LO having extra care. If its on your sky plus, erase it!

Moog72 · 15/06/2011 08:52

Hope Percy is ok MOSP.

Congratulations Misshoohaa!

Nurse - I hope your itching stops soon - at least you haven't long to wait for the blood results.

Well my uncomfortableness seems to have moved onto a whole new level. My bump is now permanently rock hard and there is so much pressure on my bladder. Keep hoping this is a sign that labour is imminent but I suspect I just overdid it by walking too far yesterday. Anyone else got the very hard bump thing?

Who will be next to pop??

Merlion · 15/06/2011 09:17

Ttl shirts are also good if you unbutton from the bottom rather than the top. Also a large muslin square/swaddle wrap tucked under your bra strap works pretty well as an impromptu cover too. I was lucky this time and a friend who couldn't bf gave me her lovely cover but I didn't have one for ds.

Any news from labella?

jasmine51 · 15/06/2011 09:34

Moog Im with you on the hard bump. My MW was asking about tightenings but tbh I dont seem to get any loosenings! The pressure on my lower portions last night was excruciating but its not necessarily on my bladder, it feels like its on the top of my pubic bone not in it. Where is your pressure?

Jasmine - it's hard to explain where the pressure is but sounds similar to yours - ie just above pubic bone. Is quite uncomfortable. Hopefully body is gearing up for labour! Happy due date btw! :)

SSD - same for me re. BH...

8rubberduckies · 15/06/2011 10:31

Oh Good God I lost a really long post yesterday and have just spent 20 minutes writing another one and have lost that!!!! Angry Arrrgh! Not helping the late-pregnancy-rage!

To be brief this time, congratulations Misshooha, glad you've got your water birth SSD, hope Percy gets well soon MOSP, and sorry to hear about the colicky babies. I found slinging and pacing was all that really helped with ds's colic - we tried a dummy but he spat it out - it didn't provide any milk I think! Smile

TTL I didn't buy any nursing tops when bfeeding before, I bought a couple of stretchy vest tops and wore them under everything, along with a nursing bra. I used to hoik up a normal top (usually a loose tunic style one to hide the post-baby flab) and kind of pop my boob out of the top of the vest top. This kept my tummy covered, and if I needed extra coverage I draped a large muslin over my shoulder.

We went out last night and didn't get home til half eleven Shock. I am usually in bed by ten at the moment, but we went to some friend's for dinner and they didn't serve up til ten! Poor ds, we got home to find he had been sick twice, my friend who was babysitting said he was very brave and grown up and was sick in the toilet both times and went straight back to sleep after a cuddle, but I felt awful that I wasn't there when he was sick (the parental guilt never stops ladies!).

He was sick another four times in the night to make sure I didn't miss out, and we are both now completely washed out on the sofa watching back-to-back Octonauts. Me and DP changed the bedsheets and his pyjamas twice in the night, and DP ended up sleeping in DS's bed whilst I had a very disturbed night's sleep with the wee man crying and groaning in my bed. I really hope I don't catch his bug, as can't think of anything worse than going into labour with a tummy bug Confused. Keep your fingers x'd for me everyone that I don't catch this bug (and also manage to get some sleep tonight).

1 week to go due date buddy Neenewps Wink

crazychic141187 · 15/06/2011 10:31

Just a quickie (I wish lol) but those who have had their babies what do the first contractions feel like so I can distinguish them from my IBS pains??
