I'm not going to do the stats as it took up so much of every page! Welcome, everyone!

Awww rubbish Sues - hope you're feeling better today!

I get woken up at 5am every morning by the baby having hiccups against my bladder, and then I can't get back to sleep until 7ish which is making work difficult because I'm knackered! Managed to get back to sleep until 10am today though Grin

For the last 48hrs or so I had quite painful Braxton Hicks which last for a few minutes and take my breath away, but I went to the GP yesterday who thought it was because I've got a bit of thrush Blush which could be irritating my uterus. I managed to sleep through them eventually so thought it couldn't be proper labour, and none yet today.

I've got a day with absolutely nothing planned so I think I'm going to go and spend some time in the garden and enjoy the weather while it's nice and sunny :) hope you all have a lovely weekend!

minicorrect · 11/06/2011 12:51

Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. Been reading for ages but never really have time to post and didn't want to start and then disappear! Last week at work this week though so hoping I'll have a bit more time to join in.
I'm 33 weeks tomorrow - due at the end of July - and very, very envious of all of you that are so much closer to meeting your babies! My sister's best friend had hers this week and I was sick with jealousy! 7 weeks feels like FOREVER!!!!!
Have to say a massive CONGRATULATIONS to confuddled though for jumping the queue and having a wonderful DD! So glad things are improving for you both now - it must be wonderful being able to feed her properly after all that pumping! I too have SPD, but it's only occasionally really bad so I've been quite lucky. Hope yours gets better soon.
Pesha - was very excited to read about your contractions when they started, but now feeling your frustration at them not going anywhere. That must be so annoying. Hope you're feeling ok though. Will be taking your advice re: monitoring this time - had back to back labour on back for fetal heart monitoring with DD1 and it took 35 hours from when my waters broke and the pain started. This usually feisty woman turned into Ms Shy and didn't like to complain (apart from when I caught the evil midwife trying to hook me up to the drip I'd already refused when I passed out - then I had something to say!).
Have refused to do anything baby related until I finish work though - so we haven't even gone in the loft to see what clothes, etc we have. Want to be able to give it my full attention! Plus we have ages yet! Don't know what we're having and DD1 was IUGR so also feel it's pointless getting clothes as they'll either be too big or too small depending what this one does. Got tons left over from last time though so not overly concerned.
Anyway, will stop wittering now, but nice to finally get a chance to say hi as I feel like I know you all already from reading over the last few weeks and hate "lurking"!
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!

cara2244 · 11/06/2011 19:19

HighFibre how old are your kids?

Eglu · 11/06/2011 19:33

Hi All,

Welcome minicorrect. It is funny how when you have your first baby you just listen to everything the mws and drs say as you think they know best. It wasn't until I was pg with DS2 that I started reading up on everything. We do sometimes put too much faith in health professionals I think.

Sues I also had a terrible night last night. Really strong BH, pain in my ribs and horrendous heartburn. I only had about 4hrs sleep and feel knackered today. I'm hoping for a better night tonight.

I can't cope with this level of discomfort much longer. I am happy for this baby to come any time from a week on Tuesday when I will be 38 weeks nad the mws will be on call for me.

HighFibreDiet · 11/06/2011 23:51

hi cara they are 9, 6 and 2 although the younger two have birthdays coming along in the next month.

Welcome to minicorrect. So sorry to hear about your evil mw with first labour but I bet you'll be far more assertive this time round.

Your workmates sound lovely, sues, sorry you came down with a horrible bug and hope you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your mat leave (without the baby coming before your hosp bag is packed)!

Stangirl · 12/06/2011 09:02

Hi minicorrect.

Eglu I was the other way round with my first pg. Read everything going about pregnancy and had no time for the Drs and MWs. It wasn't helped that all the MWs i saw (must have been over a dozen) were idiots and always contradicted each other, gave me duff advice or even had to be reminded by me to do things. One wrote the blood test label out so badly I had to go again and one tried to give me too high a dosage of blood thinners that could have killed me. Most of them were also rude and unprofessional. The Drs were better. This time round the MWs have actually been a bit nicer and it has been the Drs that have been a bit daft. The last one I had to help enter my C-section date because he couldn't work the computer.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Fraochsmum · 12/06/2011 14:29

Thanks for the advice re the nursing tank, sounds like it's worth getting one right enough - will probably get lots of wear out of it in summer too.
Great news confuddled! Hope the pain is starting to subside too.
That is encouraging Pesha, hopefully DD can be shifted before monkey goes into a cot. How are the contractions now?
Hello minicorrect!
That was so nice of your colleagues Sues you must have been very touched.
I don't feel the hiccups either, but only noticed if my tummy 'ripples' at regular intervals. And never had any braxton hicks, but lots of pushing and stretching by the little monkey.
Absolutely love your look on birth jimmy!! Have to admit to doing the same before my first, which I'm very glad about because I wasn't scared going into it and it turned out to be a very positive experience. No stinging here either.
I'm totally knackered this weekend and came as close as I have done to crying yesterday. Mobility is getting pretty difficult and my (adorable in almost every way) 17mo just wants to be in at everything. Her vocab is not good yet so pulls me to what she wants, which I was just too sore for yesterday. DH was due to finish work at around 4pm, so I called when he wasn't back and he his pager had gone off literally as he was done. Couldn't get DD to stop crying/dragging me around so walked round to the fire station...only to find out he had driven to be standby at a town 50 miles away Sad Cue teeth-gnashing from me Angry. Didn't help much either when (after a lads night out) he collapses in bed at 2am wanting to cuddle and being horny! He barely ever goes out drinking so shouldn't moan, but always seems to be when I really need sleep. I feel slightly better today, DD asleep for last 1 1/2 hour so I'm taking advantage and sitting on my bum. Was looking forward to the tennis, but in a total reversal of fortune, it is glorious here and raining in London!

Pesha · 12/06/2011 17:18

Ugh, does anyone want an extra 3 kids?? Free to any old a good home. I can throw in clothes and toys and all the rest of their shit anything else you might need.

Anyone...??

Stangirl · 12/06/2011 19:15

We've bought a Volvo V70 estate! Totally middle aged but I don't care - it'll fit the 2 kids and all our crap in. Any ideas on how I can pimp it up a bit? It's like the biggest thing on my things to do before DC2 is born list now crossed off.

highheelsandequations · 12/06/2011 21:25

Been away this weekend for a wedding. Had a lovely time but I have never had such an uncomfortable car journey in my life! 4 hours in the car at 35+ weeks was not a good plan. Hope everyone else has had a good weekend, will need to read back through thread but just now all I can think of is bed!!!!!

Eglu · 12/06/2011 21:53

Hi All. Had a good weekend getting everything finished off so I'm ready for this baby. Only need to gut the kitchen then I'm done. Serious nesting going on. Was very bad with DS2 also, I'm sure becasue of the home birth thing. It is psychological that my baby must be born in a spotless environment.

Also proud of DS1 today. He had another Tae Kwon do grading and now has his green tag. Less than 3 months after his last grading so he has learnt very quickly.

buttonmoon78 · 12/06/2011 23:35

highheels I feel your pain! 3 hour journey took 4 on Friday as A34 was closed at Abingdon cos there was a major accident. Then drove 3hrs back tonight. Am knackered but equally am too geed up to sleep just yet. Am v stiff, and I reckon that's my last long journey til baby arrives, either driven or driving!

Not read back yet but will catch up tomorrow. BH beginning to get really quite uncomfy but baby still breech. In fact, trying to kick it's way out of my cervix as we speak. Not v comfy at all!

OP posts:
cara2244 · 13/06/2011 09:41

Button ouch! I get ouchie feelings on my cervix even with a head down baby so yours must be really bad.

Stangirl good news about the car! Hmm I'm not sure you can pimp up a Volvo tho!

Highfibre, will your kids stay at home if you labour at night? I sort of like the idea of my son being in the house if I labour at night, although I'll still ask his Nana to come round when I go into labour in case he wakes up. His birth was quick and at night, although midwife keeps telling me not to expect it to be as quick this time. I'm also worried about noise waking him up! He's 2.5.

Eglu, I cleaned our bathrooms manically last time and then had an unplanned HB, and was then very, very glad I had cleaned them. Spooky. am hoping this HB, and the resulting 90 degree washes, finally kills off our towels so I can buy new ones. Ah the little things.

minicorrect · 13/06/2011 10:02

Oh god - so get the cervix thing! Had some pretty nasty back pains all weekend which were coming in waves on Saturday evening and making me feel sick and then gradually worked their way down to the base of my spine. Last night though I was getting severe stabbing pains in my cervix with accompanying lower back pain that had me clutching the cushions on the sofa as I rode through them. Came in waves again for about 30 mins and got me a bit scared tbh - at one point I was convinced I'd felt the pop of my waters breaking, but apart from a tiny bit of dampness on knicker check (sorry TMI!), all in my head! Back pain still bad and back on the crutches today although they aren't making much difference really.

Had a pretty miserable weekend really - lots of back pain, feeling like I've got a stomach upset and then the cervix pains plus just feeling pretty depressed about things. Not helped by DP getting angry yesterday cos I can't really do much to help decorate our newly plastered kitchen - although I did try with the long-handled roller on the ceiling, but the stretching and looking up just made me dizzy and feel even more sick! Ended up snapping at her while I was doing my ironing last night and then at DD when she couldn't make up her mind what story she wanted, as I had to stop the ironing to read to her and just wanted to curl up over the birth ball and cry! Just cannot believe I've got another 7 weeks like this! Thank god this is my last week at work - I swear the train journey is making it all worse!

Can't wait to start nesting next week - will spend a day on each room, starting with the bathroom (as also planning an HB). Just look around the house at the moment and see so much that needs doing!

Here's hoping we all have a good week though - will there be any more news from Pesha or will someone else overtake?!

Eglu · 13/06/2011 11:31

Cara Dh said the same thing about our towels. We will just use what we have and ask people to buy us new ones instead ofbaby stuff we don't need. Grin

I'm also getting really uncomfortable in my cervix at points. Just ready for this to be over with. 37 weeks tomorrow. I'm seeing the mw on Thursday and hoping my blood test shows high enough levels that I can have my home birth. MIL made me some more spinach soup, so I'm eating that for lunch every day, and eating lots of broccoli and beef, as well as taking the iron.

I've just finally finished my hospital bag, and filled a baby changing bag. I have serious pg brain though, as I couldn't remember what to put in a changing bag. After nappies and wipes I got lost. Eventually remembered spare clothes, and muslins. Not sure what else I should have Confused. You wouldn't think this was my third child.

inbetweener · 13/06/2011 13:49

Hello all !
I havent been on for agggggggges !!
Sounbds like we are all almost there !
button yep I have the cervix pain and mines the right way round ( apparently! ). When I walk it feels like I have a knitting needle in my fanjo its horrible !

Well I am noe 34+4 and have given in and am leaving for ML next wednesday at 36 weeks ! Grin I give in. I cant cope with the commute anymore and plus DD1 ( aged 8 ) has just broken her blasted foot so we have been up and down the hospital and it has meant I have been out of the office for both my appts and hers which isnt going down terribly well. Soooo I am leaving next wedensday yay !!!!!!

I am on iron tablets now as it appears my dizziness and palpitations are down to anemia. Im not really enjoying the fragile stomach and explosive black poo Shock
but at least the dizziness is slowly calming down !

dyerlou · 13/06/2011 14:07

Hi all I also haven't been on for ages but have been lurking and checking in every so often! I'm 37 wks today and so completely fed up! Get out baba! I spent the wknd at a sort of festival and have walked about 100 miles now baby is so low (sorry for the TMI) that my piles (which have just appeared) are excruciating!!! am so concerned about actually giving birth now I am having visions of them bursting all over MW! Am also fed up with the constant "could this be a sign" thinking! every tear or cramp is scrutinised it's my third you'd think I know what was and what wasn't! my first 2dc were late really late but am praying for a miracle this time? sorry to come on and just moan!!! but feeling very fragile today and just me and my 2yr old here and he just doesn't do sympathy!

Want2bSupermum · 13/06/2011 15:11

Hello minicorrect and welcome back to inbetweener and dyerlou. Glad to here that things are progressing along and the aches and pains I have been getting are very similar and therefore normal. As this is our first and after our scare last week, DH is being a lot more attentive.

I have my dr appointment in 50mins so waddling off!

buttonmoon78 · 13/06/2011 19:59

Hi inbetweener - it's not like a pain, it's def kicking. I have 16 days til my presentation scan. Am almost willing it to stay breech Blush so I can have a section by default. Any which way, I think I'm looking at mid July delivery.

I am officially knackered today. Got dcs to school then worked for an hour or two. By 11.30 I was almost asleep at the table so went for a nap! I'm so breathless I keep gasping for air Sad

Next month cannot come quick enough. To top it all, it's my birthday on Wednesday. DH will be away and I'm working in the evening so that will be fun!

Fraochsmum · 13/06/2011 20:27

Aw poor button! Just get yourself something luxurious for dinner and treat yourself on Wed Smile
Good luck with the iron levels eglu, our local unit won't take us if the levels are too low either.
Glad you're looking forward to you ML inbetweener, sounds like you could really do with it. I still have 2 1/2 weeks left, but if I go any sooner then I have to have DD an extra 2 1/2 days myself...and I'm struggling a bit now!
Congrats on the new car stangirl - as the owner of an 11yo Peugeot 406 I am clearly the wrong person to ask about pimping motors Grin

SpannerPants · 13/06/2011 20:28

I'm getting the cervix pains and constant period-type pain as well - it's so uncomfortable! I've had to admit defeat and will be starting maternity leave a week early so only 5 more days to go spread over this week and next week. Just as well as I'm not sleeping much due to the constant need to pee.

I've been feeling really grumpy for the past week, DP has been lovely but I just want the baby out now! Oh to be able to sleep on my stomach again, and go for longer than 2hrs without needing a wee...

Eglu · 13/06/2011 20:43

Spanner I can't wait to sleep on my stomach again. Although when my milk comes in I probably won't be able to for a while. Also looking forward to not having to prop myself up on a hundred pillows until about 5 am.

We bought a Renault Scenic as it can fit our 3 car seats across the bakc easily. We are hoping to replace DHs car with a 7 seater at some point though, so we can take Granny and friends out sometimes.

cara2244 · 13/06/2011 21:58

Eglu eggs are good too. I was living on spinach and houmous for ages and am sick of it now, worth it tho as anaemia is no fun. Thanks for the towels tip!

We are all suffering. Just think, this time in two months we will all have babies!

Does anyone have experience of post natal depression? MY friend is suffering and I have no idea how to help/support.

buttonmoon78 · 13/06/2011 23:25

Spanner you might be able to lie on your stomach to sleep but you'll still be up every 2 hours to see to your bundle of screaming joy!

Fraoch I too have a real trend-mobile - an x reg Nissan Almera, and it's even a nice pinky red. Pimping my car has not ever entered my head! DH's though? Is arriving at the end of the month - lovely black Vito, very A Team stylee. In fact, have just placed the order for the aluminium side steps this evening - very pimpy! I'd love to have something a little larger though. I don't have to contend with too many car seats (only ds currently uses one) but dd1 is nearly 14 and therefore almost proper adult size. Her legs have been longer than mine for years Grin. So, for eg, last w/e, me plus 3 kids plus a collie plus all our luggage wasn't very comfy! However, dh's face when I suggested it could be included in the five year plan was a picture so I gave up Sad

Cara how is it manifesting itself? You have to be absolutely understanding and non-judgemental but make sure that if no one else is, you are the one who puts their foot down to make sure she gets help. It's horrible to witness. If you can give some more details, if any sound similar to what I saw I can probably help a bit, at least with what worked in that case.

And now I must go to bed. I've been putting it off as even with the ranitidine I have horrible heartburn tonight so I know it's going to hurt when I go to bed Sad

I am such a whinger! Can't wait for baby to be out so I can be 'me' again!
