Quempin, mine have a 14% difference but the consultants at kings said they won't start worrying until there is a 20% difference.
Try not to worry xx

Mine were quite different at 12 weeks I think and they are DCDA. But to be fair mine seem to have flipped and changed at every scan! I asked my consultant as to why they keep changing last week and he said most of the time it's just different people scanning you and unless there was a massive difference and other signs then they aren't too worried. But then my consultant is a very, very blasé individual (he's leaving in september and I'm hoping the next one will be a little bit more energetic and forthright if that makes sense!)

Amazingly i've expanded by another 2 inches size last Sunday. Am now 48inches!!!! If that average stays until 38 weeks I'll be 66 inches round by the time these little ones come!

Think I might be panicking slightly too as I've washed up the baby clothes for the hospital bag. Have washed and made up all the reusable Nappies and have done loads of washing and ironing and am sat watching TV with DH and can't relax as I keep thinking there is something I should be doing!! Going to get hospital bag sorted this week and not worry about anything else (she says!!)

Hope you've all had great weekends and mrsstevo you are getting lots of hugs with your girls xxxx

Tinks30 · 25/07/2011 10:24

Quempin, I'm good. I'm 15 weeks now and sleeping is already getting quite uncomfortable Sad so I'm looking at getting one of those sausage pillows because i don't function well with little sleep.
More scans next week - can't wait. They are so uncomfortable but every time I see the babies it's like being told all over again that we are having twins!
Xxx

silverangel · 25/07/2011 12:55

Quempin, ditto what Tinks said - I was told at Kings that 20% was the marker for TTTS - dont panic!

I did go on to have TTTS and have been told all the way along that they would never expect them to be the same size, there will always be a small difference between them (regardless of TTTS or not).

Since I have had surgery mine have had a difference of between 11-17% which is fine.

hello all

has hoped that by now (13 weeks) the tiredness and nausea would be easing off, but apparently not... yesterday and today are 2 of the worst days i've had for both. Yesterday was almost farcical - every time I sat down I fell asleep! Today am less sleepy (fortunately as am at work!) but feel sick the second I stop eating...!!

oh the joys.

myboots - am new to the thread but have read some of your previous posts and am in awe of how calm you sound with 6 kids!!! Would really appreciate you sharing your wisdom about how you established a routine for the twins... completely failed to get my dd into a routine until she was 9mo and was determined to go down the hard core GF route this time... but having discovered there are 2 of them lurking in there am not sure I will manage GF, so any tips would be massively appreciated please!!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

BB3 · 25/07/2011 15:39

Really sorry to come on and moan but anyone else finding people around them so unbelievably irritating that they want to hit them constantly. I am that worried I will say or do something that it may result in some big fall outs!

So far over the weekend I have found myself SO irritated by:

  • DH's snoring
  • DH not getting up when he promised to help with DS
  • DH crunching a biscuit
  • Grandfathers breathing (it's very loud)
  • Mum generally being difficult
  • Dads clicking jaw at the dinner table
  • Friend dipping her finger in hummus at dinner
  • DH falling asleep on the sofa
  • DH sleeping with his arms behind his head so he keeps hitting me
  • Mum revving the car when accelerating
  • Mum driving to fast generally then having to break suddenly
  • Taxi's bumping over pot holes while having a pregnant woman in the back
  • Sister constantly complaining she is cold
  • BIL generally
  • Mum not picking her feet up when walking in birkenstocks
  • Colleagues typing
  • Colleague answering phone in overly load voice

These are just a few of them, there are a million more! I have had to bite my tongue so many times I can't bare it! Is it a phase? I can be a bit of a cow but I am not normally a complete B*tch like this! Sad

Also, not sure if I have a UTI, keep getting lots and lots of pressure down there and pain when I cross my legs (like I'm squashing a head!). AND I can't stop going to the bathroom! Got drs appointment tomorrow for something else so will mention it then!

Anyway, I am going to get off and buck my ideas up a bit! Hope everyone is ok!

BB3 · 25/07/2011 18:55

Topping the list today is overweight men snoring heavy breathing on train home! Angry would it be wrong to poke them in the belly with my pen?!?!

ravenlocks · 25/07/2011 22:30

BB3 Grin

I so expect I will get like that as have zero patience at the best of times so add raging pg hormones into the mix and it is potentially explosive.

BB3 · 26/07/2011 08:57

I don't have the best patience but I can normally bung my headphones in / leave room and just get over it, or make a joke about it whereas now I have this urge to scream at people - I ended up accidently on purpose kicking said snoring man under the table with an 'Oh I'm sorry DID I WAKE YOU UP?!?!' moment which made everyone around me smirk! Although he promptly started dozing snoring loudly again within about 5 minutes. There is just no need to snore on a packed commuter train! There is also no need to snore in bed DH if you are listening, or hog the entire bed! (That might be an exaggeration given the size of me and how much space I physically take up but he should be more understanding and take up LESS space Grin). DH has an operation tomorrow to remove a lump from his throat which will apparently help with the snoring - I HAVE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE CROSSED!!

BB3 - can I add to your list?!
People who breathe really loudly on the tube!
People who don't switch the key sound off on their bloody mobile phones and then insist on texting everyone in their bloody address book!
People who sniff every 2 seconds - blow your nose!!!!!
Getting someone's sweaty armpit in my face on the tube!
Argh! Very irritable Tinks today.

Back ache, feeling very frumpy and hideous.
Ha ha! Woe is me hey?!

Hope everyone is good. Got my 16w scan next week so hoping to find out the sexes of ma bambinos....yay yay yay!!! Grin

Tinks30 · 28/07/2011 11:21

Quempin,

The best advice everyone on here gave me was to avoid google like the plague. It's terrible for scaremongering. I fell into that trap and spent about a week stressing out which I'm sure is not good for the babies.

My boyf even told me off for googling TTTS.

Happy thoughts...always happy thoughts. xxxxx

Hey quenpim. What are the combined blood tests and what are these testing for? I've not been offered anything like that. Keen to know what I am missing out on! Sorry about the ongoing sickness - not long to 2nd tri though!!

Tinks ooh you can find out the sex at 16 weeks?? I am going to push for a scan between now and 20 weeks, was going to shoot for 15 weeks since - want them to look at the spines in detail as soon as poss- since I am at risk of spina bafida due to family history. Will they be able to see sex at 15 weeks? I am keen to know. Good luck with scan!

Tinks30 · 28/07/2011 19:05

Hey Ravenlocks.
They might be able to tell you at 15 weeks. I've heard of some people being able to find out as soon as 12 weeks. They are seeing me more often because mine are mcda twins (sharing placenta).
Will keep you all postedGrin

Anyone else feeling uncomfortable at bedtime???SadSadSad
I feel like I'm being redecorated from the inside out.
I just need one decent nights sleep

BB3 · 30/07/2011 05:32

tinks it's 5 am I'm wide awake - I went to bed at 10 and I don't think I've been consistently sleeping for more than 45 minutes at a time what with kicking, peeing and general discomfort!! I'm knackered but just can't get comfy! Grrr I'm almost 30 weeks so keep telling myself 6 more weeks, 6 more weeks!!! Hurry up august and finish please!!! I know I'll probably get less sleep from two feeding babies but at least when I am resting I'll be able to sleep (front back side) without being so bloody achey and I will be able to explain to these babies that 2 am is NOT party time!!! Wink

MrsStevo · 30/07/2011 17:52

Just popping in super-quickly as I've dashed home for an hour! I selfishly don't have time to catch up on all your news but am going to tell you mine! I do hope you're all really well though and those twinnies are cooking nicely.

We are still in hospital but the girls are doing fabulously. They are piling on the weight (altho not quite back to birth weight yet) and are both starting to get the hang of breastfeeding. We're not allowed home until they have gained more weight and have thoroughly got the hang of feeding as, at the moment, they are still reliant on their feeding /NG tubes for most feeds. It is very difficult to breastfeed babies that are asleep though so not sure how long we're going to be in!!!

They are just the most gorgeous little girls in the world. I couldn't be more besotted with them. I feel incredibly blessed to have healthy little girls after all we've been through. I think being in special care - where there are lots of VERY poorly babies - has made me even more appreciative of how lucky we really are.

Oooh - and I've uploaded some pics of my girlywoos for you to see.

MrsS just checked out your photos. The babies are gorgeous, well done you guys! I know you have had a rollercoaster of a pregnancy so you must be beyond delighted. I am soooo happy for you.

Thanks for the info on the downs tests quempin. I am getting a bit frustrated to be honest. I am over 14 weeks now and haven't actually come into contact with anyone who seems to be giving me complete/accurate info. First sonogrpaher told me the twins were non-identical - I know now there is a chance (if slim) that they could be identical - no big deal either way but it was stated to me as fact when it wasn't which I find a bit irritating. Mw told me that blood tests aren't done for spina bifida risk any more and that they spine is look at in detail at the 12 weeks scan instead. So I am at the 12 week scan and the sonographer said "we can't check for spina bifida at 12 weeks, the spines are too small to check in detail". This sonographer also said that I wouldn't be getting a blood test to coroborate the nuchal flod measurement as because there are two babies the blood tests are invalid. Now quempin, you say you are having these, so I must have been told a load of poo! I am not sure anything I have been told so far concerned with this twin pregnancy has been correct. This is all minor stuff I know, but I am easily annoyed at the moment.

Ho hum. I am seeing the consultant tomorrow for my first apt at the twins clinic. Hopefully he/ she can help clear all this stuff up.
