Thought I'd take the plunge and go for it.

Folic I had a low lying placenta with ds3 but you are quite lucky in a way, because my obs missed that it was a low lying placenta and I was bleeding from 24 weeks without knowing why which was a huge worry. Mine didn't move up and ds3 ended up being delivered at 32 weeks but he was out of hospital within two weeks and is a great boy! There is a picture of him on my profile in his Buzz Lightyear suit!Grin

knockedupagain · 24/06/2011 19:35

folic What a relief that everything is ok with the baby! Hope that placenta moves to the side.

I saw my consultant yesterday and ticked him off for having written 'induce at term' without even mentioning it to me, let alone discussing it! The midwife mentioned it to me.The last time I was induced one intervention led to another and I ended up with a massive haemorrhage and 6 units of blood so I'd prefer not to. That said, I'm mindful of what Caz has said about so many babies lost just before they were due to be induced. I am at a slightly higher risk of placental insufficiency due to my age, but I have said that I am more than happy to be monitored on a daily basis from my due date, and wouldn't want to go past term + 5 in any case. I usually go only 2 or 3 days past term, so that 5 day window would give me a very good chance of going into labour on my own. I'm having extra scans to ensure Connor is growing as he should, and will cave instantly if there looks like a problem. So far he is smack on average and particularly active on a daily basis so I'm hopeful things will be fine. My bp is on the low side of normal, so no worries there despite my age.

Was just adding passport details to booking for Spain and realised one of my kid's passports expires the day after we arrive in Spain. Whoops! Not like me to be so silly - pregnancy brain! Good thing we're going to Spain and they insist on details up front or I might not have noticed until the airport. Have made an app at passport office in Glasgow, and am popping round to neighbour to get photo certified - don't think he has changed that much to need it, but taking no chances!

Evening all!
folic so glad baby ok (had been checking back more regularly for your posts!!) bugga about placenta tho, fingers x'd it moves up.
Had scan this aft...think team blue! I say 'think'...mw said she couldn't see (legs clamped shut n pretty much crouched on feet so totally no access n refused to move enough) so after getting excited about finding out we left room bit disappointed about not knowing. Still everything else totally fine so that was main thing. Then she came back out with my notes and said she and colleague had reviewed the images and seen dangly bits (!!!) so pretty sure was boy in end! Eeeek! Had kinda thought it was going to be pink so now getting used to blue, not that were bothered either way.
moosey I'm doing the laughing a totally unfunny things too! Finding it even funnier when I know what I'm laughing at isn't remotely funny to anyone else Grin.
caz hope tomorrow goes well and you raise lots more for your total.
Glad weeks over...feet up now, corrie catch up n big bar of chocolate...

Poppet45 · 24/06/2011 21:21

So nice to hear about those getting the pregnancy giggles. I had a huge sense of humour increase with DS - and he is the jolliest, smiliest wee poppet - whereas I am a miserable biyatch so it really was all his influence. Am feeling much more like myself this time round. Perhaps because this one is likely going to be a spikey Scorpio like me... unlike my jolly Leo son. Folic so glad to hear wee one is okay and I hope the placenta moves sharpish.
Well I had the honour of meeting my friend's DD in the hospital yesterday. She's already regained all of her 3lb 11oz birthweight, about the head to bump length from your wrist to your elbow, is stunningly beautiful and precious, starting to learn how to suckle and is out of all but the lowest level of nursery care. Just her gastric tube and toe monitoring clip left. They were initially warned that because she was an ID twin, and shared the same failing placenta, she has a one in four chance of some effect from the oygen deprivation but MRI scans are looking good so fingers crossed. They still have to ask staff to pop her in and out of the incubator which is hard, there are also a lot of twins on the ward which is tough for my friend, and my friend went home for the first time since the birth the night before - with no babies - which was v tough, but they are being so amazing. They're trying to work out details of their move back home, but sadly they may not be able to take their Fiona home with them - the hospital have said that she's so small, and her bones are likely to be more cartilage than ossified, that there are unlikely to be any ashes :( . I so hope they're wrong.

Bluetinkerbell · 24/06/2011 21:25

Poppet in the leaflet we got regarding burial or cremation it said very clearly that if you choose for cremation you won't be able to take ashes home... That's why we will be burying Sterre! Hope they will be able to do what is right for them!

lkane0 · 24/06/2011 22:23

Thanks for keeping us updated folic - so pleased you're ok!

TerrysNo2 · 24/06/2011 22:48

Hello all! Back from hols and had a fab time. Look forward to reading and catching up soon! :)

chipmonkey · 25/06/2011 00:19

Welcome back, Terrys! I had forgotten you were on hols and was wondering where you were!

cep · 25/06/2011 07:55

Morning Ladies

poppet glad your friend's lo is doing well.

Terry's glad to see you back, did you have a great time?

bumpandisaacsmum · 25/06/2011 08:07

Good morning everyone.

caz I hope all goes well at Annabelle's Angel day today x x

poppet great news your friend's lil olivia is doing well x

terrys welcome back from hols, hope you had a good time

wuzz welcome back, glad to hear your OH is back safe

PoppysMom · 25/06/2011 08:09

Folic I am so glad you and baby are well.
I hope you can recover from you hospital stay. They aren't nice and I hated when I was in for 3.5 weeks.
I also have a low lying placenta and hope that yours and mine move out of the way, becasue I too don't want a c-section

I have mad giggles too at the most stupid of things. I couldn't stop laughing and crying when I drove our new car for the first time. We live in Singapore and have a "local" car, so the indicators are on the right hand side of the steering column...I flicked the left, which are the whipers and I just couldn't stop laughing. It got even worst when i realised it was a silly thing to laugh at, so I had to pull over and calm down first

Great that you had a good holiday Terry. I'm following in your footsteps, going away next week and can't wait.

Caz hope today goes well!

Poppet that is so sad about your friend and I hope Fiona can come home soon

Hope everyone else has a good weekend ahead :)

PoppysMom · 25/06/2011 08:12

Poppet Sorry, somehow only wrote half my message.
Can Fiona be burried, or only cremation?

I hope the other LO gets strong enough to come home with her parents.

missingmargarita · 25/06/2011 09:24

Can I join? Due End Nov. 20 week scan will not be until 22 weeks... Want to know if we are on the pink or blue team!

missingmargarita · 25/06/2011 09:29

Poppet - So sorry to hear about Fiona, but glad her other DD is doing well.

And Folic - Glad you and baby are doing well. Fingers crossed that everything goes ok from now on.

PoppysMom · 25/06/2011 11:15

Hello missing,
Sorry you have to wait do long for your scan. I hope time flies for you

missingmargarita · 25/06/2011 11:20

Thanks PoppysMom - Would have been earlier, but on holiday, so suppose I can't complain!

Can't believe the weather at the moment - was going to spend some time in the garden today, but it's so wet!!

PoppysMom · 25/06/2011 11:57

Ah, I have my normal doctor appointment and scan at 21 weeks after my holiday, but managed to squeeze the anomaly scan in for Thursday, so before holiday.
I am in Singapore where I see my doctor every 1-4 weeks though and in addition to those scans also get the NT and anomaly ones.

Sorry about the weather. I hope it gets better for tomorrow :)

juststarting · 25/06/2011 12:28

Eugh, headache back with a vengance. A day free of it yesterday made me realise just how much they are effecting me. I felt so much more able to cope and even get pleasure from things yesterady. Hmph.

pandia · 25/06/2011 13:13

juststarting could't agree more. i have a filthy headache again and consequently have just had huge row with husband about pretty much nothing. he has just stormed off in a huff and i have to leave to fly to singapore for a week so not the best note to leave on. just feel like crying. headaches have a lot to answer for! hope yours improves soon.

juststarting · 25/06/2011 14:14

Yours too Pandia. And good luck witht he trip. I havent the oomph for an arguement with a sloth feelign like this, but did have a bit of a tearful collapse about what a useless mother and partner I am, which only made the pain so much worse.

cep · 25/06/2011 15:52

welcome missing congratulations.

just sorry your headache is back. Sad oh don't think that, headaches are the worst when you can't get rid of them. Are you drinking lots of water?

caz hope today went well.

PoppysMom · 25/06/2011 16:26

Really sorry about headaches and rows Just and pandia

I hope you have a good time in Singapore. Weather is nice and not too hot at the moment.

Caliphora · 25/06/2011 17:13

Bump has started moving upwards now - I'm constantly having to burp and only got 3 hours sleep last night because of heartburn :( I feel really overfull even when just eating an ordinary meal - good for the weight, I guess, but it's annoying when you're constantly hungry!

DP has just got out in the rain to go get me Gaviscon - hooray for the constant stream of antacids!

WuzzAndBuddy · 25/06/2011 20:33

Evening all,

Good news Folic, fingers crossed about the placenta moving out of the way, mine did with DS. Plenty of time yet xx

Hi Missing, welcome in!

Pandia and JustStarting, sorry to hear you're suffering headaches, thats rubbish. Hope you find something to ease them soon.

Caliphora, LoveHeart sweets, Refreshers and milk work much better for me than Gaviscon, and much cheaper too! Grin
I keep a packet of sweets close by all the time!

I've had a bit of a stupid incident today....
I made a quiche, it was in the oven for 25minutes, the oven gets hot...
I took the quiche out of the oven, taking care not to burn my hand on the oven or tray, put the tray on top of the oven and cut the quiche in half...
The best way to move half a quiche from a hot baking tray to a plate...?
Of course, you use the knife and your hand don't you!?
And burn your finger, get lava-hot quiche under your nail and drop the half quiche down between the oven and the cupboard...

Honestly... WHY would I think that was a good idea???

And now my finger bloody hurts.

Caliphora · 25/06/2011 20:41

Unfortunately I suffer really badly from heartburn when not pregnant, so it's Gaviscon Advance or nothing - oh the days when milk worked! ;)

Ouch about the Quiche - I had quiche today and ate it too soon after cooking - now my tongue is reassuringly peeling...
