blue I am so truly sorry for your loss. Please do come back and tell us angel baby's name. I hope you can heal and recover from this very sad time

Welcome to the newbies too.

dee I am so pleased for you. Good luck and have a great 8 months

voodoomunkee · 20/06/2011 06:21

I love this spare 10 mins I sometimes get in the morning. Sun is shining and 5 spare mins to have a nosey to see how everyone is doing.

Scan today. Nervous and couldnt sleep very well. On the plus side I only have a half day in at work today.

When I have been on mat leave in the past I haven't even contemplated doing anything like a course! However now, depending on the sleeping etc I am more than willing to give it a go. Problem is that if I get accepted for this Masters then it starts in jan..... eek. I can defer. I may not want to. As OH is not working it may be a good time for me to start what with having a babysitter that isnt a childminder/creche. We shall see.

Anyhow, good luck to the others scanning today, am sure there are more than just me. Off to get a bath and get the family up!

Have a good day all x

Bluetinkerbell · 20/06/2011 06:52

blue i'm sorry things are taking so long for you. i hope everything goes as well as possible.

MooseyMoo · 20/06/2011 08:38

Chip Your post made me smile. I love that what you described is a good day Grin 'Good days' take on a whole new meaning with kids.

Blue Oh hun, thinking of you and your angel baby. Hoping you get to meet your angel soon. Would love to hear what you name him/her.

Good luck to all the scanees today. I remember there were quite a few.

DH got worse over the weekend with a virus. So have been playing nurse and looking after a teething baby. Not the most relaxing weekend. We're off on holiday on Friday so hoping he is better and we don't get it!

Bluetinkerbell · 20/06/2011 09:34

Hi all,

I gave birth to Sterre at 7.40.
Our beautiful baby sat ready to come out when they examined me. (S)he was just perfect and oh so tiny.
I'm on a drip now as placenta is playing hide and seek so not leaving here yet.
feel very calm and peaceful.
it was all part of God's big plans for me. I saw it all very clearly yesterday why this needed to happen to me!
thanks all for your kind support itmeans a lot to me

knockedupagain · 20/06/2011 10:23

Blue I'm glad you got to meet your baby. Are you still not sure whether Sterre is a he or a she? Sterre is a lovely name - I looked it up to find it was a dutch name meaning 'Star', which seems to me to do for either a boy or a girl very well. I hope you are ready to go home soon to rest, and that you and your family get all the support you need.

My scan went well. Everything measured just as it should. The sonographer got a good look at everything except Connor's hands. He insisted on hiding them behind his back and sitting on them! I saw one at the sexing scan a few weeks back anyway, and it looked perfect so I very much doubt they don't match. I can think of way worse things than having an extra finger in any case - it's funny how some people get hung up on the right number of fingers and toes when having a properly formed heart or functioning kidneys are so much more important! And I hate it when people say "so long as it's healthy". Many babies (including my autistic son) don't tick that box, but they are very welcome additions to the family just the same. And all babies will have some defects, even if they're neither visible nor significant. We are none of us perfect!

Katiebeau · 20/06/2011 10:33

Oh Blue. You are being so very brave. I will light a candle for your Angel Sterre in church this week if that is OK with you and your husband. xxxx

smilingcl · 20/06/2011 11:08

My thoughts are with you Blue, Sterre is a beautiful name. I think you're being incredibly brave. I hope the placenta hurries itself along and you get some time at home soon to recover and reflect.

We had our scan this morning and were relieved to hear that it's good news, everything was in the right place and size with the little heart pumping away. The baby was in sleeping / boxing position with it's fists in front of it's eyes and when the sonographer tryed to jiggle it in to movement it just turned over which was quite funny and very much like dp when I tried to wake him this morning..

The placenta was anterior high which I think means front?! So pleased that it's not currently set to block the exit!

We resisted the urge to find out what sex it is, although dp is secretly now expecting a boy, I think he was looking at the umbilical cord..

Still miles away from having any names, we're both going to write a list for each sex tonight and then swap, cross out the ones we don't like and see if there are any left at the end!

chipmonkey · 20/06/2011 11:39

Bless you, Blue, you are being wonderfully brave >

cookie9 · 20/06/2011 12:16

Blue what a lovely name you have chosen for your angel baby. I hope the hospital staff are treating you well.

Congrats to everyone whose scans have gone well.

Smilingcl my notes say I am anterior as well. Hopefully the baby will get into a good position later on and not be back to back.

cep · 20/06/2011 12:24

blue you are so so brave. and what a wonderful name. thinking of you and your husband.

smiling lol at the umbilicaL cord, bet he things the baby's really blessed in tat area. Grin congrats on a great scan.

and to knockedupagain so pleased for a great scan.

Caliphora · 20/06/2011 13:13

Blue just hugs. Hope recovery and coming home goes smoothly and peacefully.

goldmaple I want to write something that doesn't contain the three classical "Helicopter", "Ladette turned yummy mummy" or "Inner Dolphin kissing" parenting
books. I'm pretty certain there's a market for something different...

cep · 20/06/2011 13:43

what's the inner dolphin???

Ziggimajiggi · 20/06/2011 13:45

blue very very beautiul name, glad you got to meet your angel baby. I'm thiking of you at this sad time and so proud of how brave you are.

This is totally off the subject, but just been to Costco and they're selling the BT150 baby monitor (won best baby monitor 2011 on mumsnet) for £53 including VAT, not bad :)

juststarting · 20/06/2011 13:49

I'm clearly not doing enough reading. Caliphora I am unaware of any of those genres!
Blue, I'm glad you are finding meaning and understanding in what has happened. I think Sterre is lovely and apt.

Had some cancellations this afternoon so I sat down with enthusiasm to catch up on paper work. An hour and twenty minutes later and I am yet to get started. I fear any energy I may ever have had has deserted me for good.

smilingcl · 20/06/2011 14:06

Oooh Cookie, I didn't even think about back to back birth.. will just have to do a lot of jigging around to try and coax it into position!

I haven't read any parenting books yet Cali but think I'll be giving those 3 genres a miss! Helicopter?!

Just starting I'm having the same issue, supposed to be working from home today but have accidentally strayed onto nordic names website now instead of doing this stupid powerpoint presentation...

4 months till maternity leave!

Folicacid · 20/06/2011 14:17

Ziggi that monitor is cheaper in amazon though? Amazon

MooseyMoo · 20/06/2011 14:28

Oh Blue, fingers crossed you are home soon. What a lovely name.

MooseyMoo · 20/06/2011 14:44

Folic You beat me to it! I was just about to write that monitor is cheaper on Amazon. We've got this monitor and it's great. The lullabys are great for soothing DD when she is teething but really needs a nap.

Knockedup & Smiling - glad to hear both your scans went well.

Smiling - There is a really good website called Spinning babies which helps you to figure out baby's position and suggestions on how to move baby. More useful in the 3rd trimester when there is less room for baby to move around in.

cep · 20/06/2011 15:52

smiling helicopter is basically when parents just hover over the kids all the time, not letting them do anything. Completely wrapped in cotton wool.

juststarting · 20/06/2011 16:53

Ah, i thought helicopter might me my model of running around, arms flailing, cluelessly making it up as you go along. My poor son doesnt know whether he's coming or going with the old cotton wool. Cotton wool on, cotton wool off, "yeah, you can go down the slide headfirst onto concrete" closely followed by "NOOOOO, DONT touch the railing! GERMS!" Likewise the other modes I think. Again. "Yeah, i can say Fuck in front of my son" to "God no, are you showing early signs of a south essex accent? Stop that NOW". And then "You should be one with nature and run naked through the garden, BE FREE" before "No darling, we dont get in the high chair until we've given it an antibacterial wipe down".
Working from home didnt go well. Fell asleep for an hour. Needed it though.

MooseyMoo · 20/06/2011 17:50

Juststarting That made me smile Grin DD isn't walking yet so haven't quite reached this stage. Currently crawling back and forth in the lounge blowing raspberries.

Anyone else addicted to reading the June Antenatal thread to see how people's births are going?

cep · 20/06/2011 18:01

just i had to laugh at that. it's just so true.

moosey i am but probably more because i used to be on it. Is lovely to hear the stories.
