Evening everyone, congrats knockedup and Caz on the colour finding out! Am really hoping to find out with this one though it wasnt important with the other 2! I can never decide if I have felt movement either - although there are some definite pronounced lumps and bumps if you press down gently on my bump... guess shall wait and see. I always feel panicky like something bad has happened, don't know why but I wake up and feel stressed that its all just a big myth or joke or something! Madness but I blame the pg hormones.

Had a horrid day at work so come home and am doing some research for interview on thurs. My friend has an interview for a different course on Monday so we have been keeping each othes spirits up!

Could really do with a snooze which I think is resultant of my waking up and stressing and the horrid day at work! Insensitive senior manager blurting out to another colleague from a different office that I wasn't going to be here in Oct so the topics they were discussing would be irrelevant, miffed that she couldnt think before she spoke as it is not common knowledge that I am pg and I would like to keep it that way! Mind it was funny to see my immediate boss and other colleagues cringing, did bring a smile to my face!

Anyhow hope everyone is ok :)

Oh ps I have an Alex, not Alexander but I love the name choice!

voodoomunkee · 06/06/2011 20:11

Oh Alicat that brought back some memories! Mostly of the poppers 'unpopping' at really awkward moments!

chipmonkey · 06/06/2011 20:48

Well there are things that I call vests that mothercare call bodysuits! A girl I know went into hospital not knowing about vests and her dh had to run out to buy some. So long as baby is not nekkid altogether it's not that big a deal!Grin

alicat10 · 06/06/2011 21:08

If in doubt pick up a starter set - has body / vest and babygro / sleepsuit and often little leggings and cardigan and the little hat which a lot of people seem to forget. DS was too tiny for anything we had bought so started life in hand me downs despite my agonising over the first outfit.

neverinamillionyears · 06/06/2011 21:26

I bet none of you had a lace all in one with poppers. The memory of those poppers ringing brings a tear to my eye (in pain).

neverinamillionyears · 06/06/2011 21:27

*pinging

alicat10 · 06/06/2011 21:29

good thing I hadn't had kids back then, my pelvic floor wouldn't be up to the delays these days Wink

MooseyMoo · 06/06/2011 21:37

Grin I love shopping for baby grows now.

Baby grow
Though the baby grows with poppers down the side (instead of the middle) are a serious pain in the butt. V hard to get baby's leg in.

Body suit

I dressed DD in baby grow, body suit, cardie and hat when we left the hospital. As we're having November babies, would prob add a blanket to this.

As DD is a long baby (long legs), I found Sainsbury's and Tescos the best fit, cheap and wash really well.

I'm shattered so heading off to bed. Sorry for no shout outs. Will catch up tomorrow. Night all

Staceroo · 06/06/2011 21:49

Phew... just read through 5 pages of this! Missed a lot, sorry been off the radar for a week or so!

So jealous of those who've had 20 week scans already! So two little boys on the way so far yeah?

We had our 16 (though actually 17) week mw appointment on sat and was so disappointed. She took my blood pressure and made me pee in a pot and that was it! No listening to the heartbeat here :-( Gutted because I had been looking forward to it so much. Apparently they don't do that now untill 22 weeks.

Also had a call from the nurse at the gps friday and apparently on an audit of a pee sample I put in about 11 weeks ago, they've found some blood in it, so I've got two more pots to pee in over the next couple of weeks so they can keep checking. Trying not to worry about it, as she said there was no signs of infection from the initial tests, but hard not to be paranoid.

Well... there's my self indulgent bit over with! Hope everyone is doing well, and there's more happy scan news on the way soon! (Someone put it to me the otherday as hamburger or hotdog!) Good luck all!

SnoozleDoozle · 06/06/2011 22:00

I thought I felt baby move on Saturday, and I was all excited, thinking 'yay, this is it starting now!' but I haven't really felt anything else since.....although I just felt something as a I typed this sentence! Anyway, its a relief to hear I'm not the only one, although thats no consolation to everyone else in the same boat, I'm sure.....

PamSco · 06/06/2011 22:38

Hey Folic, I'm trying hard not to be a depressing whinger. Last 3 days have been rough. Resorting to codeine since Saturday :(

Worrying myself sick about open abdominal surgery in week 21 v 5 more months of painkillers - what the hell is the best thing to do??? Though I don't know why they can't do keyhole surgery rather than open, nhs website says it can be done if pregnant. Trying to see a consultant to get information. Painkillers is the prefered route bt I'm not sure what is safe in 3rd trimester.

On a positive note I now have a date for 20 week scan - 1st July very excited.

Stace Nothing self-indulgent about your post. Don't worry about your pee, it could easily have been a little cut or graze.

CazandBelle · 06/06/2011 23:24

I've updated my blog with pics of Xander! :)

cazandbelle.blogspot.com/2011/06/alexander-jon.html

chipmonkey · 06/06/2011 23:48

Right, Caz, now you have me in floods of tears! Love the name Alexander and think Xander is a lovely abbreviaton, a bit different from Alex.

Ziggimajiggi · 07/06/2011 08:20

Hi again,

Stace don't worry about the wee... I've had two come back with blood in and it was easily fixed because it was a kidney infection - horrid but treatable.

So pleased for Caz.

Only on first breakfast today, hope everyone has an amazing day :)

PoppysMom · 07/06/2011 08:25

Congratulations Caz! I am so pleased for you.

PamSco, how rubbish about the heartbeat :(

Snoozle, I felt my little girl first move 2 weeks ago. Since then there are days where I feel nothing and then only very tiny flutters. I think it's normal, so I am trying not to worry.

PoppysMom · 07/06/2011 08:28

Sorry, not PamSco...Staceroo about the heartbeat!

PamSco, how bad that you have to go through this.

PamSco · 07/06/2011 08:50

Lol Poppy I was at mw who failed to find a heartbeat so a rubbish hb day for me - how did you know :)

I don't worry about that at the moment, 17 weeks and ample padding makes it hard to get the hb. HEnce me not using a doppler yet!

I hope everyone starts picking up and migraines recede today. Come on ladies let's try the power of positive thinking. I've felt deserted by positivity recently but today WILL be different - who'll join me?

Amnio in 3.5 days - positive - they will be able to do it
Holiday in 1 week - positive - I will be able to fly
Gallbladder - positive - I will get through today without painkillers

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 07/06/2011 10:21

Just popping in to add my twopenneth. Don't forget that hospitals are incredibly warm, so you'll only need a thin nightie/pjs and baby won't need lots of layers till hometime. In hospital DD wore a babygrow (no legs) or a bodysuit (legs) but didn't get dressed properly till we left.

Hils74 · 07/06/2011 11:05

Positive thinking, here goes...

Yeay congrats to caz and knockedup - blue team!

My 20 wk scan is on 29th June and because DP doesn't want to know, and I do, we are going to toss a coin that morning to see if we find out if Fidget is pink or blue...

Everyone seems to have their own opinion about whether I should find out or not, I know it's a baby, I'll still be excited even if it's not a surprise Grin

Now 17+4 so I 'think' I can feel movement, but not sure if it's wind or not, bump seems to be quite solid at times, especially at night - so excited!!:)

Tjuice · 07/06/2011 12:33

Hey everyone, congrats to those who just had scans. I don't even know when my next one is - I am in week 17 but had an early organ scan last week because my daughter was born with a kidney issue. Everything looks good for this little one but they couldn't tell the sex yet. I would love a boy! But if its a girl, I have tons and tons of clothes to reuse;) Boy boy boy!

I had a mental weekend from which I am still recovering - but not in the old "geting caned" sense. It was my DD's 3rd birthday and my mum flew over to Copenhagen for the weekend to help me cater. We did food and drinks for 30 aduts and 20 kids all of all ages! She's Jamaican so we a Caribbean theme, with jerk chicken, curry, rice and peas, rum punch, banana cake, potato and pasta salads and then loads of english sausages! All eaten outside in the beautiful park opposite where we live, so lots of carrying food and drinks and ice back and forth in our cargo bike. Turned out to be a lovely day, although it was bloody hard work.

So today I am just working from home which normally means a lot of chilling out but for some reason I have been spending hours in tedious phone conferences recently, which I hate.

I would love to definitely feel some movements. Sometimes I think I do but other times it seems to just be gas. Last time round I was so much more tuned in to the whole thing - I feel a bit guilty that I am completely wrapped up in work these days and much more anxious.

And it gets worse - next week I am off to Hamburg for work and then to New York the week after. I love salads but will have to avoid them in Germany with all this e-coli craziness.

PamSc - I'm on your positive thinking - hope everything works out for you with holiday, tests etc.

MooseyMoo · 07/06/2011 13:35

Good point Mrs A. I thought it was warm in hospital because DD was born in May Hmm I also found night shirts really good for breastfeeding (well, in my case, trying to breast feed!) as you can just unbutton some of the buttons and are cheaper than maternity nighties. Think I got mine in the sale at M&S.

More teething going on today. Blimmin heck these canines are taking chuffin ages to come through. Sigh. Had a lovely day with DD yesterday, she was in such a good mood. Today, complete opposite :(

Positive Thinking:

I will not have a headache today
Teething is just a phase and those teeth will appear soon

TerrysNo2 · 07/06/2011 13:54

Love the Positive Thinking - we had exactly the same in my November 2008 thread - we called it PMA - Positive Mental Attitude, it was even in a thread title!

Poppet45 · 07/06/2011 16:55

hello lovelies, am back from my hols and so pleased to read about all the scans and finding out of team colours!
We're definitely getting movement over here at 16 weeks and a bit, but not every day yet, however on Sunday Bunny kicked so hard that DH could feel it too which was really special. However I know from my first that I didn't feel anything definite from DS until the week of the 20 scan so it really isn't anything to panic about just yet. Although I do recall panicking about it muchly at the time.
Holiday was lovely to see my family and sister's wedding, but have gone right off MIL, I think she has Tourette's. Positive thinkers please skim read past my whinge:
She greeted DS (21 months) with 'Hello sunshine your life's ruined in a few months time' then when I said that wasn't particularly nice as a greeting, said sniffily that I always read the worst into everything. She also kept saying DS looked like the milkman's - even though he has DH's nose, ears, blond hair colour, blue eye colour, slim build, tall height... and I'm a short brown eyed brunette, so he's utterly a clone of his dad. I think she'll have me on Jeremy Kyle if this one dares to look a scrap like me. This despite the fact her own eldest DS looks not a breath like his father but everyone's too polite to point it out.
She topped it off by presenting a 20 book Thomas Tank engine set to DS's cousin, saying DS couldn't have any as we wouldn't have room because we're flying, then when DSIL looked mortified and said her DS had most already and tried to hand some over MIL said 'oh there's a double somewhere' fished through the pile for a second copy of one of the books, checked it was the one with the missing and torn pages and handed it over to DS. DH thinks this was totally sane and normal behaviour.... I think she should be dunked in a pool somewhere. Am sure she'd float. What's worse is I lost my mum at 17 so this is all the maternal and grandmotherly support me and DS get. Rubbish, but DH is adamant she's coming up just after this DC arrives, even though she was the only thing that made me cry, after my horrid birth, fun stay in HDU, slow section recovery and DS's colic ordeal, when she asked me if I didn't love DS anymore after I rescued him from his dad when DH was really losing it due to his crying. I've told him I need at least a week to get me out of that awful vulnerable time post birth, before she can darken our doorstep. Think I'll still lace the place with garlic just in case.
Right I'm going to breathe out and in and out for a while and look forward to my scan on June 30. Really not sure this time what team's onboard, I'm carrying all out in front like DS, but am less tired and hungry.... and was much queasier to start with. Ooooh it's fun to guess for a while, but I can't wait to find out. Ultimately I have no patience. Another failing I'm sure my MIL could point out. Grin

goldmaple · 07/06/2011 18:30

poppet can't believe your MIL! Def needs a dunk (or a boot)!
