daisy I've got some washable breastpads you can have if you like, barely used. Once my milk comes in I'm like a leaking tap and just soaked through the washable ones, sadly it cost me a fortune in disposable ones that have the plastic back. Message me if you're interested, they're so light they'll cost almost nothing to post.

Exercise?!! Well I walk from the PC to the fridge and back Grin. Stupid spd is stopping me walking fast/far.

I found I lost weight after the birth but it crept on again over the following year as I snacked a lot more and had sugary things to compensate for sleep deprivation, def going to try and be more self controlled with snacks this time. (but one more choc digestive right now won't hurt...will it?!)

Def get thrush sorted asap! I got deep breast thrush after DD and it ended my short lived breastfeeding stint with her as the pain was too awful. I got it mildly with DS but saw it for what it was straight away, got the meds, and went on to feed him for 9m. Slap on the canestan and get rid before you give birth if you can!!

neverlookback really hope you and DP are able to have a good chat about this and make him understand how unappreciated his comments are. For the record, you're beautiful :)

WinterLover · 18/05/2011 14:40

What does anyone think to this pushchair?

Quattro Tour Sport £269 with free accessories pack and £30 for the carrycot..

wishwales · 18/05/2011 16:51

winterlover Graco is the standard in America - where I am from. I had never heard of all these fancy and expensive ones until I moved here. Everyone I know at home has used Graco and been very happy. You definitely can not beat the prices. You may find more reviews on some of the US websites, like babiesrus.com (not .co.uk) or amazon.com.

konatsu · 18/05/2011 16:59

Hi everyone!

Did you purchase anything from Precious Little One website? If so, how was their service?

I am asking this because I need to buy something but they really seem not too keen in selling!
I had problems placing the order online (it seems that their website is very sensitive!) and by the time they replied to me the price match offer expired. Then they said the only way was to apply again for a new price match and after the 3 days they did not come back to me. I wrote again and now they say
?You can try and contact us via telephone and we may be able to take the order over the telephone. Otherwise you may be able to try again online and see if it works?.

I am not really sure if I can trust them? Hmm
Sorry for this, but I've just had a dreadful experience with the purchase of the nursery furniture (which finally I was able to return it) and I cannot handle another stress like that! Sad

WinterLover · 18/05/2011 17:01

I ordered a travel cot from them. When it arrived it was sent in its original packaging that was crushed but thats prob from the courier. All in all though I ordered am day 1 and it was delivered dinner day 2 :)

WinterLover · 18/05/2011 17:03

wishwales I've found a few reviews but not many. I liked it but its a big decision to make :( and I hate having that put on me! I can fold it down and lift it myself which I thought was good.

Firawla · 18/05/2011 18:03

konatsu i remember seeing a few threads here on mumsnet warning and complaing about precious little ones.. i would mayb try to find the same thing elsewhere? apparently their service is not good, items not arriving, not able to contact them for the refund and that kinda thing i think?

daisysair · 18/05/2011 18:04

cappucinocarrie thank you!! you don't have PM's enabled though....

winterlover maybe it's worth thinking about what you need from a pushchair. Foldability and weight sound like 2 of yours. When we were still considering pushchairs (decided just to wrap) we wanted parent facing for as long as possible and not too wide/long.

MrsVidic · 18/05/2011 18:53

Re the push chairs sorry for saying the obvious but I really recommend checking ease of putting on the rain cover (and practicing). I didn't with one of mine and hate the pram due to that and other ( steering) issues and also I'd push it around as some I find I keep accidentally stepping on the breaks (after nearly 2 years I don't think I'll learn not to)

KLou111 · 18/05/2011 19:28

konatsu I ordered my pram last Thurs evening from them and it came Tuesday first thing. It got delivered to my parents and signed for by my brother and I've not been over yet to get it, will go tomorrow. Hope it's OK, so excited about having a look at it and will be gutted if any probs.
I found them really quick to respond to emails TBH, and I saved £70 with their price match! :)

Looks good winter

Hi all, my hormonal mood has been made a lot better today! Dp has finally finished the painting, so we went to ikea for some much needed furniture- bed for dd to free up the cot bed and a bookcase to free up the study (our future nursery).
Dp and dd had a whale of a time behaving like kids and then the bloody bookcase wouldn't fit in the car ( with dd's car seat!) No probs Dp said he'd go tomorrow to pick up! So on the way home I treated myself to a tv/DVD thing for our bedroom. As our area had gone digital I have been without a bedroom tv for 18 months. I really have missed lying in bed watching tv in the evenings this pregnancy! I'm going to indulge in a few box sets! I did also find it great having a tv in the early days in bedroom while feeding dd

I feel a little more organised now! I'm Defo nesting, which I have to curb as last time I decorated our spare room (so well I refused to turn it into a nursery this time!) of course when I say I decorated I mean I led the project and hired a decorator/ plasterer. I keep seeing new projects in the house (that don't need doing but I feel the itch) anyone else get this?

bettyboo83 · 18/05/2011 20:32

TMI but I've had thrush on and off throughout my pregnancy and it's miserable. Sometimes I end up running a couple of inches of cool water in the bath and sitting in it for a couple of mins for relief. I've been using Canesten cream but my GP wasn't keen on giving me anything else Sad I had a chat with my MW who suggested ironing the crotch of my knickers to 'kill any bugs' Hmm Any other suggestions girls?
I haven't really being doing any exercise, though I do walk miles each shift at work. I went to aquanatal yesterday for the first time which turned out to be more of a gossip whilst bobbing around with floats rather than a work-out! Good fun though and it was nice to meet pregnant women who are local. I guess you meet more at antenatal classes but I still don't know when they start.
No leaking here but KLou I'm impressed that not only have you packed you labour bag, but that you had it in the car! I've only got as far as writing a list! Has anyone else packed theirs?
Car seat and carrycot for the pram arrived today Grin it all seems very real now!

davidtennantsmistress · 18/05/2011 20:39

yuk - have you tried primark at all? glad all went well today. agree get the thrust sorted - i've had mine done - the things us girls go through.

mrsv - I used to do combat twice a week,( at least) plus zumba as well a few times a week, however once I found out I was pg I scaled this back to walking/cycling on the machines while the classes were going on - (history of M/C's so thought it would be safer until the 12 week mark) then however I've developed an almost like stitch pain under the bump everytime I walk about a little too fast. :( I can't wait until the baby is 6-8 weeks old and I can get back to the gym. atm it's just a case of running about after DS. :( but roll on the gym & fat club again.

got accused today of trying to 'feed up' the office - no more donuts/cookies for them then! :o

klou - I hear ya on leaky boobs, have some now when squeezing Blush with Ds had more leakage than the local water boards. lol. once bubs is here if you're going to feed get yourself some shells - they'll collect any leakage whilst you feed (mine was about 1oz a time) by the end of the day I had leaked enough for a feed. :) it can be frozen as well.

mrs s/wales - how are you girlies?

big waves to everyone, hope we're all plodding on ok. not too much happening here.

davidtennantsmistress · 18/05/2011 20:43

not packed the bad yet - we do have a coming home outfit thou - got to buy a new bag first lol. oh and knicks/nighty incase. ooh got a feeding pillow to take this time. :o

CappuccinoCarrie · 18/05/2011 20:45

daisy I'm not sure what i've done wrong with the PM thang - I've received three PMs in the distant past so I don't know what I could have done to turn it off?! I clicked on the settings button in my inbox but couldn't see anything relevant Confused

JenniL1977 · 18/05/2011 21:25

Omg ladies, all this organised talk from you all is making my head spin! I've done precisely nothing... Which to be honest is exactly like me, I always spend ages thinking about essays and projects and reports then do it all right on deadline day :) It doesn't help that DH is so relaxed about everything he's horizontal either, he just keeps saying, we've got 3 months, what's your problem?! He doesn't get nesting!
Yukana I've had hellish thrush for 3 weeks, finally worked out what it was and am slapping on the canesten... Instant relief, it was amazing!
I've also had some leaking too KLou, had that for 3 months now. Wasn't expecting that so early!
I've been a bit teary for the last couple of days and feeling a bit down, I think it's just the enormity of it all starting to hit me and frustration at not being able to nest (we've got no bloody money, again!) and being much tireder from having to commute to work now we've moved out of Leeds. DH has also been adding to it by joining in with my piss-taking friends all weekend calling me fat, and several comments were made on the size of my arse... I know they're only messing about but it doesn't help! I also feel like my ribs are going to split and burst out of me alien-style, I can really feel everything pushing up now, and she's a very wriggly little girl in there! She had her foot hooked round the front of my ribs on Monday, that was bizarre!
Sorry for self indulgent post, just feeling a bit sorry for myself today. But holidays start tomorrow :) off to Cornwall for a week. Although I've got to drive the whole 6.5 hours there :(

KT hope you sort your boss out, good luck.

littlemisslozza · 18/05/2011 21:52

MrsVidic I am exactly like that too! Each time I have written myself lists of jobs to get done before baby arrives and I've managed to do them all (although that won't happen this time as we've not long moved and our garden is a 'project'). Nearer the due date I would find myself thinking 'is this the last time I'll be changing the bedsheets/hoovering/other mundane chore', as if I had to have everything perfect before the birth and it was the last time I'd ever do that particular job so I had to do it properly. If only.....!

Jenni I'd be upset too if people were teasing me that I looked fat and had a big bum, even if they're just joking it's hurtful and they should know better than to tease a hormonal pregnant women - next time burst into tears..... that'll stop it!! (Although you may well feel silly a few months down the line!).

KLou111 · 18/05/2011 22:56

Betty bag in car cos came away from home to the Midlands for a couple of weeks so chucked it in JIC :)

Lozza I wouldn't mind but the last time some of these people saw a size 10 was 20 years ago! I'm still in 10 (maternity) clothes! Cheeky feckers :) they say it's just the shock of seeing me with a big tummy and wobbly bits when I'm so slim usually, but I'm like, I've got a 30cm long person in there, where do you want me to hide her !?! They are just taking the piss, there's no malice behind it. Thanks tho :) x

Forgot to say that I've booked some birthing classes- they're Daisy Birthing and they go on all over the country, only £54 for 6 classes! It takes in yoga and visualisation techniques and relaxation as well, the lady running them sounds lovely, and hopefully I'll get to meet some other mums up here where I know no-one! Has anyone heard anything good or bad about these? We just can't afford the NCT ones which is a shame.

Yukana · 19/05/2011 09:40

MrsV Glad to hear you're feeling better! :) Getting things organised does put you at ease.

Regarding thrush - Sorry to hear so many of you have experienced this. :( I don't believe I've experienced thrush once in my entire life, but thankfully the midwife yesterday prescribed me some thrush cream that I'm going to ask DP to pick up for me today. I hope it'll work!

I bought some Femfresh wipes and spray for the 'intimate area' as they like to call it, and they've made me feel a lot better when I'm going out and about.

The only thing left to sort out now is the house our new family is going to live in. From what I've read others in the same position are having difficulties, and I wish you all the best. DP and I are thinking of moving out of the county, to somewhere near to Manchester (not in Manchester however, I'm paranoid about my family's safety) or in Scotland. There just doesn't seem to be any luck with houses in our area, and we can't afford to keep waiting. It also upsets me as DP doesn't feel like he can enjoy and look forward to the baby coming if we don't have our own place - my mother has put everyone at their wit's end.

I am reading everyone's posts when I can, wishwales and MrsStevo I hope you and the little ones are okay. I can't believe we're in the third trimester already, it makes me panic a little as I have a small collection of baby stuff but not that much!

MrsVidic · 19/05/2011 10:14

yukana so many people are in the same position as you said, I can say with authority that Cheshire is very difficult for obtaining a tenancy while on benefits. Good that your flexible with area, Manchester has some really nice places but I presume like everywhere else the available homes will be the ones in the least desirable areas.

Rehune · 19/05/2011 12:35

hello everyone, I've been off here for ages but have dipped in regularly to keep up to date. 29+3 weeks today and STILL havent got anything for the baby or the room. Minor panic feeling but after reading your post Jenni at least I am not the only one! There is still time!
DH has been in Libya for the past three weeks and returning on Sunday so I can relax let him take over household duties.
9 more weeks to go before maternity leave. I can't wait. Have been working 50 hour weeks and I have happily started shifting meetings to when I am going to off.
Uhm....need to ask a question about stretchmarks? My mum didnt have any after 3 kids and none of my 5 aunts did either. Will this make a difference *crosses fingers
And ps Jenni I was a size 6 before I got pregnant and I have had the teasing from some of my larger friends. I just asked to borrow their clothes and the teasing soon stopped. I know it's in jest but sometimes your body feels alien to you and you don't quite know what to do with it so I understand!

neverlookback · 19/05/2011 13:41

my mum who has had 4 ds's and my sister has 3dc's all with no stretch marks, i didnt get any with dd but ds was so big i got quite a lot on the sides of my stomach, they faded much better than i hoped but i still never got brave enough to wear a bikini again! i think it depends how big u go but i think some people have much more elastine in thier skin so family luck could be on your side!! i dont think ill get anymore this time i think ds stretched me to the limit!

littlemisslozza · 19/05/2011 14:37

I have about 5 small stretchmarks on each side, this is after two DC's so hopefully nothing more dramatic will happen with this one! Funnily enough my mum has a few in exactly the same places so I believe it is largely down to genes but moisturising can't do any harm anyway. Smile

Firawla · 19/05/2011 16:03

I got stretchmarks with my first, they just appeared overnight one day. they are not too bad now though they have faded quite well, not got any new ones from ds2 and so far no more from this one

yukana i think manchester looks really nice, i was looking into it cos i wanted to move there aswel its sooo much cheaper! but dh would have to sort out his work to move up there so its more of a distant future thing if at all.. but it seems a really nice place to live. i hope you get something sorted out soon so you can feel settled. i get what your dp means it is easier to look forward to baby and feel prepared if you are all settled in your own space.

as for our house i dont think i updated, we saw one and it was really nice so we said we will take it but apparently the landlady is faffing around trying to ask for 3 months deposit (5k!! fgs!) which is really not normal procedure so i have said no to that, so now she is "thinking about it" i hope she does not take so long to decide, and really hope she says yes to just going down the normal route so we can get it, because there's no new rental places come up at all in the last week, for our number of bedrooms and budget and area.. so not lookng too great if we dont get this one

jenniL ive not heard of those but im sure it cant be much different from nct, it seems like the better option to just go for the cheaper ones anyway, im sure it will be good
