neverlookback just point out that the more shit things he says to you/the less compliments he pays, the less you will want to have sex with him. Like a reward chart, but for grown-ups.

KLou111 · 17/05/2011 17:03

LMAO Never at the wee!!! Fair play to you honey!!!!!

I am finding the whole emotional/hormonal roller coaster a right bugger. Had a massive argument with my brothers on Friday night as DH and I are staying at my parents looking after my brother with the broken leg. We went out Friday night and he said my other brother was coming round and a couple of friends to see him. We stayed out later deliberately til 1am to give them time with their friends (went out at 7pm).

Anyway we got back, and there was a full piss up going on. The house was a tip (after I'd just cleaned it that afternoon) and I was not impressed, stormed in and said, 'can you wrap this up now, it's late enough and I am going to bed.' Yes, perhaps rude, never met his friends, but I was so pissed off, and it's bad enough being sober and walking in on that, never mind pregnant aswell!! And my brothers girlfriend of 6 weeks is a fucking MIDWIFE!!!

After 15 mins the girls were still screaming so I packed a bag, went to leave with DH and our 2 dogs and one of my brothers caught me so I told him we were leaving for a couple of days as he was taking the piss and how the hell were we meant to go to bed with all that going on. Ended in a huge argument, and they could not understand what they had done, and still don't, tossers.
Anyway, all sorted and it has resulted in my 'broken' brother realising he doesn't need a babysitter and he's going home Saturday (woohoo!!)

So totally understand the hormones thing!!!!

KT i hope you get things sorted out with your boss and work, seems very unnecessary the way she is behaving, and out of order. is there ne1 higher up you could go to to speak about it??

sistert i agree about the paper knickers they are not comfy at all anyway, best just to buy some cheap granny knickers from somewhere, i got some from peacocks atleast then its cotton so a bit comfier. who really wants a crinkly paper knickers on with stitches and everything?! i dont kno why they recommend it on all the lists

star i hope your blood sugars come out ok with ur test kit, mine seemed alright at first but seem to be getting more higher ones in last few days, maybe it is as they say if u do have it then it keeps going worse as time goes on :S

never lol @ the wee!! your dh must have gone mad, but it is not nice the way he has been speaking to you, hopefully he will now think twice..

MrsVidic · 17/05/2011 18:18

neverlookback pmsl! I'm in the same boat with hormones and potty training, I may use my dd creations as weapons yet!
Dp finds it funny that I feel fat (as he says it's obv I'm preg not fat and doesn't understand that it's very difficult from going from slim to round!)

klou I would have lost it too, your bro was clearly taking the piss!

kt I would keep copies of every thing re work, challenge your boss then go higher

My bloods came back and I am anemic so am now on iron tablets, but apart from that I'm not too bad!

davidtennantsmistress · 17/05/2011 21:38

never - fair play on the wee, but have to say I don't blame you or think you have anything to apologise for you're carrying his child fgs he should be basking in wonder & amazement at your beauty. think he deserved it & tbh should be apologising to you for being an insensitive man child.

(failing that let us loose on him - 30 odd hormonal pg woman would soon set him right buying you flowers :o)

kt - has this only happened since being pg? are you suppose to have access to her emails?

ref the knickers I'll do as per last time the high rise (think soft cotton granny/bridget jones, or passion killers as DP calls them) from primark - they're about £5 for 10, go 2/3 sizes up and then as you take out the pad to bin them you can either bin as well if flooding or wash & bin once the bleeding has stopped - the paper one's never appealed to me.

have got a few more buts for bubs today, all sorted for sheets/blankets, got some pads now. Think we're pretty much sorted for him - oh need the matress for the crib as I've got the wrong sized one, so if anyone would like a crib matress (40x90) I think it was then you're welcome to it for postage (will wrapped up but i've pulled the outter wrapper off a bit when taking the lable out - was double wrapped.)

davidtennantsmistress · 17/05/2011 21:41

mrs v - so glad it's not just me with the whole body image thing going on, i'm hating my look atm, I can deal with it loosing weight & sliming in shape but I have real issues over body image & it changing so I think I look fat. 26 weeks in and finally thou apparently it's looking like a PG bump and not just fat. doesn't stop me feeling fat/frumpy thou.

damn these hormones.

alibaba76 · 17/05/2011 22:40

mrsv davidtennant re the body image. I didn't think I looked that bad, but everyday my DH looks thinner....and he's not, it's just that in comparison to me he does! I feel nice and like my bump, but a bit of weight has gone on my face and I hate it. I've got small eyes and mouth, so they just kind of disappear into the fat face. I really hope I am one of those women who end up lighter than before they were pregnant, after I've had the baby...but can't see me being that lucky!

Yukana · 18/05/2011 01:17

Major TMI alert -
I've been having erm, itching around the nether regions somewhat (not in the pubic hairs though), it's not often but has happened about three times recently, and I remember having it once or so earlier in the pregnancy. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing/has experienced the same thing? I have looked at Dr.Google sadly, but thought it would be best to get tips/advice here. It's been mentioned online that I should see the doctor/midwife which I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow, but I have a very bad feeling due to me being so timid I won't be able to ask her!

Going to have an iron transfusion, blood tests and my anti-D injection tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. I'm not scared of needles, just uncomfortable with the thought of them or looking at them!

MrsVidic · 18/05/2011 07:02

yukana could it be thrush? Your ph levels are all over the place in preg- the Mw can prescribe something?

alibaba re the being thinner post baby- I am one of those people and attribute it to - breastfeeding, walking far more and eating earlier with dc.

DTM I find going the gym keeps my head straight re the weight, as I figure If I'm still excersizing regularly I must need the extra weight to stock up for bfeeding.
On topic of excersize is anyone else still going the gym ? I do my circuits and weights at home ( very toned down 35 min workout step ups + light free weights) and at the gym 6 min x trainer, 12 min cycle then weights 6 different 2 leg ones 4 arm/ back ones. What's everyone else doing? I feel like a bit of a slacker going so easy compared to usual but I don't half feel it after!

Dp is currently painting, has been since 6 am as I had a melt down at not being ready for baby! Were off to ikea later for a toddler bed too! I think the second costs just as much if not more- as you need double buggy, and all new things for the toddler so the baby can have the cot bed!

I slightly hoping we have been unsucessful in our Olympic tickets so we have more cash

littlemisslozza · 18/05/2011 07:44

Yukana I agree that it could well be thrush. I am unfortunate enough to have had it almost constantly throughout this pregnancy, and have had it recurrently when expecting my other two DCs. I found that it cleared up after the baby was born thankfully, some women are just more prone to it when pg, as MrsVidic said, pH levels are different to normal. I have always had to have the GP prescribe something as the midwife couldn't so best to ask at your appt I would say. You can have an internal treatment as well as external. If it is thrush I'd recommend trying to get it under control before the birth because otherwise it may pass to the baby, they can get it in their mouth and transfer to your nipples. DS1 had it and I got nipple thrush, really itchy.

I also recommend cheap granny knickers rather than paper ones, especially if you may have a CS.

Mrs Vidic if you are a slacker then I don't know what I am!!! I have to admit that I am not a fan of gyms and working out so I don't do any of that, the only exercise I'm really doing at the moment is walking, but I do plenty of that with the children so I'm happy. I'm also quite lucky that I have got back into shape after each child (hope it happens again this time!), breastfeeding and healthy eating (although I am rather partial to chocolate and cake in the early days of bf) works for me. I have never lost the final few pounds of weight until I've totally finished breastfeeding though.

KTisPG work sounds like a nightmare for you at the moment, hope it all gets resolved soon.

KTisPG · 18/05/2011 08:37

Thanks everyone for your support, I was starting to think it was just me, but having slept (well not much really if I'm honest) on it, it isn't me. It's only been going on since I've been PG, I had a good relationship with her before. :(

Just to clarify, I only have access to her diary, not her email and I'm supposed to have that level of access. She is fully aware that I do and often tells me to check it myself when I'm scheduling meetings etc, so I really don't know what's going on. I've suspected before that she doesn't always tell the whole truth when she'd rather not deliver a difficult message, but I've never actually caught her out like this before, with evidence.

I've made an appointment to discuss it with our department head next week and I think I'll wait until after that to discuss it with her. That's not very fair on her, but as she is also responsible for my annual review, I'm not very comfortable discussing it directly at the moment.

I'm really scared because we are such a small team she could make my life very difficult and as I'm the breadwinner I have no option but to go back fulltime after mat leave and I can't leave for 12 months after without losing my occupational mat pay, so I'm completely trapped until May 2013 :(

Firawla · 18/05/2011 09:04

mrsvidic are you still going to the gym even now? that is quite dedicated! i got lazy with it ages ago Blush

i am feeling crap today, i had a slight sore throat and ears for a few days but it seems to have gone properly into a really bad cold now, my head feels so conjested and just feel awful. i don't know whether to take anything, we are allowed paracetamol arent we so a lemsip should be okay if needed?? i can never remember what the advice is so normally end up making do with nothing, but it would prob be best just to take something and feel a bit better.. also feeling really tired, dh decided it would be a good idea not to come home til after 1am and not bring his key with him, grr

kt i hope your appointment goes well to discuss it and you get it sorted, you shouldnt be made to feel like this :(

KLou111 · 18/05/2011 09:32

DTM I feel huge and the same as Ali I think my DH is getting thinner lol!

Good luck with your work KT hope things get sorted.

Yukana sounds like thrush to me too.

Well, went out for meal last night for DH mum's birthday, and were just finishing up and I went to the loo. Had a purple top on and noticed it was a drop size wet around my boob area, anyway just thought I'd spilt something. DH said when I got back (while everyone was bloody listening!) what's that?? I said oh think I've spilt my drink or something. We got home and I had it the other side too!! Got my boobs out and sure enough my milks coming through!!! Oh God!!
DH said he thought it was as he saw it both sides in the pub but I'd only seen it the one.
I know it sounds daft but I couldn't stop thinking OMG OMG this is getting really real now!!
Thankfully have my labour bag with me so have some pads in the car. Didn't think I'd be needing them yet!
I know it sounds a daft question, but will I leak all the time now or just occasionally til birth? (God I am missing my mum being on hol! I haven't got my private MW hotline back til 23rd June lol!! I'd usually just ask her)

OP posts:
alibaba76 · 18/05/2011 10:36

You are all putting me to shame! I am doing virtuall no exercise at all, I like to walk, but just too tired some nights. I am still working full time, so find it difficult to find time to exercise.

It's starting to feel very real (I'm a first timer) and it's all just hitting home, quite scary actually. All the advice etc, makes me think "will there even be time in the day to wash my hair?" Too late now tho eh?

Annie456 · 18/05/2011 10:58

Oh wow...exercise. What is that again??
I was a quite fit and toned size 10 before getting PG as I only got married a year ago and wanted to be in shape for that...it was a good base to get pregnant from but I can just feel all my hard work un-ravelling which is a bit depressing!
I run around like a crazy thing at work and with my commute on top there is nothing left for exercise, especially with the dizziness.

My friends don't think i've put on much weight but I know that all my muscle tone has gone and my mat. jeans which are a 10 are really starting to cut in... my mum put on 4 stone when PG with me so really really trying to avoid that!

OMG klou your leaky boobs have just made it real for me!! I'm quite ignorant to this...will it happen to us all around now or are you quite early? Confused

Annie456 · 18/05/2011 11:08

Oh and Ali, my hair was the first thing to go. I was 7 weeks PG and went from boob length to bob - I just couldn't face drying it and being so tired. I miss my long hair but it's sooo much easier this way Sad

neverlookback · 18/05/2011 12:00

hi ladies, thanks for the supporting messages on stupid DP, yukana is proberly thrush, i get it on and off when pg and ds was born with it in his mouth and had to have horrible medicine, i always blamed myself for this but a the doctor told me recently that it has nothing to do with if i had thrush, some babies just get it? still not nice for baba.

My exercise is minimum, i get spd so have been to a pilates class and gym ball class at the physio dept and i doing those alternate days to try and build my core stability up, it is very weak! but after the birth im determined to join the gym and get my body back, as this is my last baby ive no excuses! plus im seeing it as a way to get some child free time and de stress!

its strange on the leaky boobs topic, mine never stopped leaking since having ds 2 yrs ago, they wouldnt leak on thier own but if i squeezed i could get it all the way accross the room (party trick!!) but since getting pg they have totally dried up so i dont know whats going on?
im getting anxious about being ready, we cant really do anything or buy much till dd gets her new fitted bedroom on 7th July then i can do babies room, going to get a gliding crib this time, ds was crumpled into his moses basket for 10 weeks then had to go in his own room in his cot as it doesnt fit in our room and he carried on with night feed until he was 12 months old, and it was horrible being perched on a dining chair in his room feeding him and freezing, so i want this baba to be in our room for longer so at least i can sit in bed feeding!

neverlookback · 18/05/2011 12:01

ooh forgot to ask, has everyone been advised to have a group b strep test done at 32 weeks?, mw told me to get test she will do the swabs for me, i got the test for free off ebay but then its £35 to send off and get results which i think the mw said i have to do and pay for and its not provided on the NHS?

daisysair · 18/05/2011 12:10

neverlookback I will be getting the groupB strep test done (privately) as I've previously had strep b and I don't want anti Bs unless absolutely neccessary (=current colonisation+early/long labour) www.gbss.org.uk is a fab resource for group b info.

I've just ordered my nappies (wraps are already here!) it's feeling so much more real. Also found a second hand baby hammock which I'd ruled out new due to price :D

All that's left on the list to get is the carseat (duologic 1), lillakuddis, washable breastpads, baby bouncer, baby monitor and a freezer (hmm the list isn't as small as I thought).

Anu3 · 18/05/2011 12:17

Mrsvidic - I still go to the gym 3 times a week as ive always done it and it makes me feel better and supposed to be good for the baby too. Im not doing any heavy weights (not more than 5 kg) but i do a lot of free hand and I also walk a lot. My mate is a trainer at the gym so I train with her once a week for an hour and of the other 2 times i do Aqua aerobics for an hour and follow an exercise routine that ive drawn up the other time(arms, legs, chest press, sqauts with the swiss ball against the wall, cross trainer (for 10 mins) and finish with streches for my back. I also do pelvic floor exercises as and when i can remember! But i know what you mean about feeling like a slacker but even a little bit of exercise is good for you and you shouldnt be working you body as hard as you did pre pregnancy, So dont worry about it too much. I want to actually ease up going to the gym the next 2 months and want to join pregnancy Yoga if i can find someplace to go in North London! Any of you ladies doing that already?

Klou Leaky boobs already? wow Does that mean it could happen to me too? I didnt realise it can happen this early on (i dont even have breat pads in the hospital bag as yet!!) Yikes - need to go get some right away!!

Yukana · 18/05/2011 12:27

Thank you for your opinions/advice everyone. :)

Have just come back from midwife appointment and had some blood tests they wanted done, as well as my anti-d injection. Both were prickly but just fine. I managed to gather the courage to ask her lots of questions today, which I'm chuffed about. Asked why I needed to see a consultant half an hour away when the midwife at my local surgery could do the same things, she said with my history of being vegan and an eating disorder I need to see a consultant throughout my pregnancies. Also asked about a possible extra scan, and she said she'll get back to me on that one and check again at around 35 weeks. I'll probably be put on prescribed iron tablets which is good as then I can get the dosage/mg right!

Felt and measured baby at appointment, I'm 28 weeks exactly today, and she's exactly 28 centimeters! So glad as it clears my fear of LO being big. Midwife said she was very wriggly and could feel her, so that was lovely. :)

Talked to her about the itchiness, and she's prescribed me some cream which I'll be picking up tomorrow.

Our benefits have been sorted out now thankfully and we've changed so DP is on Carer's Allowance and claiming couple's Income Support now. I'm so relieved and this will lift a lot of the stress for me, as I can relax more about affording to buy baby stuff now.

Does anyone know any shops that do (inexpensive, not more than £25!) airy/light/comfortable trousers? I rather like some pajama bottoms as the fabric is thin and I can wear it under a dress for extra comfort, but they're getting a bit small! Mind you I need enormous sizes simply because bump is huge. So shop would need to have plus sizes. Blush

Sorry for colossal post!

SelinaDoula · 18/05/2011 12:31

I am cycling to work 3/4 times a week (about 20 mins) and try to do the gym once or twice, just a No leaky boobs here, unless I squeeze the nipples, didn't have it last time either (dont worry, its not an indication of the amount of milk, had no probles bf).
I had thrush in the milk ducts, which was horrible, cvan give baba a sore mouth, stop cracks healing up and feels like someon sticking a red hot needle through the middle of your boob!
Off to London with work for a few days now.

littlemisslozza · 18/05/2011 13:34

Yukana I had some linen maternity trousers from H&M a few years ago, I expect they still do them. Lovely and comfy, fit over the bump and nice and light, not expemsive either. Also comfy for after the birth (as long as not white....just in case!).

I have started to leak tiny bits of milk, but it doesn't leak through my bra, I just get crusty bits on my nipples! Blush Same experience as with my other two. Didn't need breastpads until my milk came in properly when DS1 was 5 days old and DS2 was 3 days old, but good idea to take them to hospital just in case.

I will be having a Group B strep test (on the NHS) as I had it when they swabbed my stitches after having DS1. I was clear when I was expecting DS2 but because it can come and go I'll be tested again this time.

aStarInStrangeways · 18/05/2011 13:37

Yukana glad to hear you've got your finances more sorted, that must be a huge relief. Also glad you had a good appt, although still not sure what the point of you seeing a consultant is if he's not going to tell you anything useful.

daisysair which nappies did you get?

Me and exercise are strangers atm. Apart from walking places with DS, but not even doing as much of that as I was when pg last time, due to now living in much less walkable place and having my driving license. I can't get to any evening stuff like aquanatal because DH is never home in time. Not complaining though, I'm always so tired that I'd rather stay home. At least having gestational diabetes means I can't pig out on delicious sweet stuff Hmm

That said, I haven't really put any weight on and look and feel trim apart from the massive bump. Last time I did put some on but it just fell off me after DS was born as he was such a hungry baby and literally sucked the fat straight out of my body Grin

daisysair · 18/05/2011 13:45

aStarInStrangeways have gone for flat terries with wraps as they dry super fast and will do from birth to potty. specifically bright bots in white (2 packs of 12) and then motherease airflow wraps 3x small 5x medium and motherease rikki 5x in large. with nappy nippas, nappy bin + mesh bag and liners (100 flushable) it'll have cost me £160-but will get £30 back from the council's eco incentive scheme.
