SelinaDoula · 29/06/2011 19:09

BP was fine so we are good to go for the homebirth! Yeah!

KTisPG · 29/06/2011 19:39

That's great news Selina. I'm still waiting for my appointment with the consultant midwives to discuss mine. If I've not heard from them by 34 weeks (32 + 4 now) I'll chase them up

CappuccinoCarrie · 30/06/2011 00:13

Well tonight took a turn for the "interesting"...we got all the baby clothes out of the loft and DH went out to play football. I got as far as separating boy and girl clothes (we have over 4 years worth, its a big job!) when I got the phone call to say DH has broken his wrist again and the boys were taking him off to A&E. So I spent the rest of the evening on the phone to various people sorting his work, childcare so I can visit him, someone else to play guitar at church on sunday, that kind of thing! Then his friend came back from hospital and babysat so I could go in and take DH an overnight bag and clean clothes as he's still in his football stuff!
Thankfully got an old friend visiting tomorrow which is a welcome distraction as DH will have his operation to put yet another metal plate in his wrist at some point, and I won't get to see him til visiting hours in the evening after the kids are in bed. DH should be home some time on Friday, which means cancelling my exciting Friday plans. Then we're supposed to be at a wedding on Saturday Confused
And of course the lounge is still a sea of unsorted clothes and I now have precisely no time to sort it, and neither of us is in a position to lift it back into the loft!!!
At least I've still got 7 weeks til due date...I did imagine one of those scenarios where I go in to visit, go into labour and then we're both in hospital and totally useless to the DCs...oh and my parents are abroad
I dread to think what this is doing to my blood pressure!

MrsStevo · 30/06/2011 10:33

Thanks very much for the baby monitor guidance ladies, I am leaning towards the angelcare one (just need to convince DH who is still harping on about a video one).

Cappcarrie - Can't believe your news, so sorry to hear that!! What a massive inconvenience that is going to be, let alone all the worry about him having his op today and the recovery. Poor you and poor DH. Maybe he could be persuaded that football is a silly game and he shouldn't play it anymore?? Gutted I don't live closer as I LOVE sorting things and would have your living room ordered into neat piles of lovely clothes in no time. Hope you're ok and keeping the BP down!!!

littlemisslozza · 30/06/2011 12:08

I've had my appt with the consultant this morning and have a date of 8th August for an ELCS (the day after DS2's second birthday) so Leilandri we will be having our babies the same day after all.

Excited but also compiling my usual 'to do' list of stuff before baby arrives which is getting longer and longer due to the fact that any spare time at the moment is spent on the computer marking exams but that's only for roughly another fortnight.

Carrie what a nightmare! Hope your DH is better soon.

MrsVidic · 30/06/2011 13:33

Selina great news on the thumbs up for hiome birth!
Capp So sorry to hear about your DP- hope it doesnt render him useless helping with your Dc's. I did the clothes sort the other month and dd really enjoyed dressing up in all of the clothes (at once!)
MrsS I would say ensure you get a monitor which is digital and not analog and most come with a 2 year guarentee which is v important

Teladi · 30/06/2011 21:38

Oh man, I just happened upon an episode of One Born Every Minute USA - I highly recommend not watching it... its much more dramatically edited than the UK one. Just saw a baby being delivered that there was a shoulder dystocia. It was awful, so scary, and dramatic music... :( I'm not going to watch any more of these birth programmes. Don't do it to yourselves ladies!!

After all the chat about waxing I attempted to trim the 'area' with some scissors... I can't see it now though!! I think I'm the only woman left on the planet who has never had a bikini wax and I'm not sure if I should get one or not... it wouldn't normally be on my to do list if I wasn't pregnant, but now I am thinking maybe I should?

Selina great that you can have your homebirth! Exciting that you have dates littlemisslozza and Leilandri - it's really cool that you know when your babies will come (probably)!

CappuccinoCarrie I'm sorry to hear about your DP - I hope he heals quickly so that he can help you out!

littlemisslozza · 30/06/2011 21:51

Teladi I've never had any waxing done anywhere and never intend to either for that matter so you're not alone! A mirror helps with trimming 'that area' while a bump is in the way... Blush

I'm watching the american ONEB too, I agree it's much more dramatic, although shoulder dystocia happened to me with my first so felt for the poor woman!

KLou111 · 30/06/2011 23:00

Only ever had one bikini wax, which was for our honeymoon, NEVER again. Not only did it bloody hurt, the hairs ingrew back and had a rash for my whole honeymoon with little white spots!! Better to shave!!

Capp so sorry about your DH, these things seem to happen all at the wrong time!

Well, cracked on today, and I emptied the nursery Grin sorted it into stuff to go into the attic, which is now on the landing until DH puts it up tomorrow, and stuff in lounge to go to Midlands. Have painted the ceiling and first coat on walls. 2nd coat tomorrow, and hoping to build furniture tomorrow too so it's done for when DH goes and mum and dad come.
3rd bedroom looks lovely now the bed is in :)
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to get it all done finally. Still a bit gutted we couldn't have white furniture, as think it would have looked so much nicer, but it's like DH said, we live in a barn at the end of the day, and the room has a beam in it so it'll go with that. Mum and dad are bringing everything they have for bubs at their house (knitting, nappies, bath stuff, sheep teddy etc) so will hopefully have the wardrobe up so can put it all. Bloody Argos have let me down, meant to have had the changing unit by now (23rd June latest), but they've delayed it til 13th July!! Tossers!
Got bubs' play mat this morning, love it!!

Morning All, Took me a while to catch up! So, I guess we'll be having babies next month!!

WinterLover · 01/07/2011 09:44

Impatient That is very scary!!!

Annie456 · 01/07/2011 11:01

Oh I'm on the never-waxing-down-there team too!
Btw, what changing bags do people have / recommend?

It's my birthday a week after my due date and other than a nice cut and colour I can't think of anything I want so have asked DH for the Storksak Elizabeth...I know it's very pricey and I wouldn't get it if it wasn't a birthday treat but wondered if anyone recommended it (or another one I could get instead as a present?)xx

KTisPG · 01/07/2011 11:14

I'm in the not waxing team too. In fact I'm in the not shaving down there team as well! I did it once and got a really itchy, sore rash and ingrowing hair so I'm never doing that again! Not attractive Grin

RugbyWidow7 · 01/07/2011 12:04

I'm in the shaving not waxing team too - tried it and been in agony far too many times. No thanks!

Klou - love the play mat. Thinking of ordering it too. Have you received it yet? Is it big enough to grow into?

Annie I've bought a Cath Kidston change bag, which I absolutely love. It's possibly slightly on the small side, but I can cope with that as it's so beautiful and figure it'll mean I carry less around with me (which will be a welcome change!) Wink

Rehune · 01/07/2011 13:46

Annie I bought a Skip Hop Duo Deluxe changing bag from JojoMamanBebe. Came highly recommended www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+Skip-Hop-Skip-Hop-Duo-Deluxe-Changing-Bags+A5127

And bought the Stokke Xplory pushchair. Has anyone else got one/used one? Or have I totally missed this discussion. ( I probably have )

I don't find having a Brazillian or Hollywood at all painful. Have been doing it since I was about 17 (32 now!) so maybe just used to it. Hopefully this means my pain tolerance will be high and labour will be a breeze (yeah right) crosses fingers anyway

I bought the Angelcare movement and sound monitor. Mrs S

Am finding baby's movement's really painful at the moment. And my god feeling so heavy.

Rehune · 01/07/2011 14:58

Have you guys written your birth plans yet? Anyone have any good templates?

RugbyWidow7 · 01/07/2011 15:28

Hi rehune, I very very nearly bought the Stokke! I love it. However, we decided in the end that it might be a bit too 'urban' for us, as ours needs to be able to do country walks and muddy tracks etc as well as town. We settled on the ICandy Apple in the end, though still love the Stokke!!!

I haven't written my birth plan yet but the mw said to use the template in the back of the maternity notes folder.

I am knackered! Is anyone else feeling it in the afternoons again? Just been to town for an hour and wish I had time to have a sleep. Feeling too tired to go out tonight but must!

Getting a cleaner today though hopefully! Finally.
Officially on maternity leave now too, wooohooo!!

SelinaDoula · 01/07/2011 15:53

Last day in work today!
Feeling pretty well and excited I am due this month!
Off to Wales for the weekend, take care all.

KTisPG · 01/07/2011 15:59

I'm sooo Envy of all you lucky ladies on maternity leave already. I've still got 4 weeks to work Sad but at least I can see my last day on the calendar now

Rehune · 01/07/2011 16:09

Thanks Rugbywidow will do (should have looked there first). We havent unboxed our Stokke yet. Have got it in red. DH fell in love with it as well!

So lucky you ladies on maternity leave. Have 2 weeks left. Was going to work uptil 39 weeks but going to work until 38 instead. I've been dumped with some major deadlines on my last couple of days. Maybe baby will do me a favour and come then! Am really looking forward to not working for a while

Annie456 · 01/07/2011 17:41

wow, I feel like such a wimp finishing at 34 weeks...just can't handle the commute anymore!!

Firawla · 01/07/2011 21:09

posting to get this back on my threads im on list so i can keep track

carrie sorry about your dh!

exciting we have all got not long to go now! i am still unorganised as ever though, want to get all baby clothes sorted out etc but washing machine in our new flat does not work so once that is sorted i will get onto it

yukana did you get a house now?? i only skimmed through but thought i saw it mentioned? i hope so

rugby yes i am also feeling knackered, feel like i am huffing and puffing walking around everywhere, especially our area is quite hilly. am looking forward to having bit more energy back after the birth hopefully, feel really unfit at the moment. & i am also thinking of getting a cleaner, altho not sure we can afford it but would love to, just cant really see my house staying clean with a newborn baby aswel as my other 2 cos i already dont get time to do enough as it is

as for pushchairs has anyone had that seat that attaches to the side of your buggy to make a double/tripple? i did not wana have a tripple buggy but i keep wondering whether to consider it or not, cant fit a buggy board or anything onto the one ive got so if i wanted anything for ds1 this would be the only thing, but on one hand im thinking making it a tripple will be ridiculous as it will be huge and prob too heavy to push! but then sometimes its good to be able to put him in the buggy to have a sleep while out, he still ends up in there most days at the moment, soo i dont know

Rootatoot · 01/07/2011 21:52

Hello ladies...cant believe it's next month! EEk!

rehune birth plan...no i haven't. I asked my MW and she said "what's a birth plan?" So I'm guessing they're not interested in helping me with one or reading it where I live. Great. I did see there is one in the notes to be filled out so I'll ask her again when i next see her. Hoping mine doesn't become an EMCS on account of high bp at the moment.

Baby moved today into a funny position I think. Hope he moves back again. My ribs are very sore today!

All you ladies still working...hat's off to you. I'm freelance so work has naturally stopped but I am desperate to get DH's books in order and tax return in before baby arrives (not to mention all the housey stuff that needs sorting out). Been told by consultant to stop work and rest now but being at home, and being used to working from home, it doesn't come naturally to rest. Though I have to listen to body. i went for short lie down as ribs were hurting a lot this afternoon, and woke up 3 hours later!! Could be the bp tablets though, have felt v spaced out on them and they upped my dose.

Going on hospital tour tomorrow.

KLou111 · 01/07/2011 22:42

Just a quick post, not had a chance to read up. JUST sat down, been a looooooong day but nursery finished!!! DH just finished the cot bless him for getting it done. Was a quick job but last thing he needed at 10:15pm!
So glad got it done for mum and dad coming tomorrow.
Have great weekends all, will catch up with you in a few days x

PS Rugby, mat is a nice size, will do bubs for a while :)

Leilandri · 02/07/2011 20:38

Hi all, back from a lovely break with friends in Lancashire, taken a while to catch up!

DTM Bon Jovi were totally AWESOME! So glad we went, and Jon Bon is sooo gorgeous!

Klou I have this rocker - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fisher-Price-Link-a-Doos-Infant-to-Toddler-Rocker-/130495349562?pt=UK_Baby_BabyActivities_SwingsBouncers_GL&hash=item1e6221033a

Littlemisslozza Yeay, a birth buddy!! So glad to have a date - 5 weeks on monday Grin

Firawla I have the buggypod Smorph 2 - the "sidecar" for the buggy. It fits well, collapses etc well, it doesn't weigh much and DS has sat in it and was happy enough. He is walking further and further, but I'm glad that I've got it so he can have a proper rest when needed.

Yukana Gratz on the house, glad things are looking up for you, I'm sure you'll make it lovely.

MrsS So sorry you are recieving such poor treatment and care. I'd transfer if I were you, you need to feel relaxed and comfortable about your level of care.

I'm also a member of the not waxing club. I usually either shave or use scissors for a trim. Tho I have forewarned DH that he will be using hair removal cream on me on the night before my EMCS as the shave last time left alot to be desired, and hair grew into my scar Hmm

I've had a FAB day today with my DS, DH and my parents as went for "a day out with Thomas" on our local Steam Railway, he absolutely loved it, and was so cool that he high-fived the Fat Controller!! Grin

I've now finished work until April! Which is a fab feeling. Got loots of batch cooking todo over the next few weeks, to fill the freezer ready, and making the most of my days with just DS by going to the woods/beach etc.
