I have the achey rib thing too and got a severe kick in them today, which was a bit of a shock!

Had friends over with babies today and have to say it's made me feel very excited! Also had 32 week midwife app and all seems to be fine. Baby is head down but loose and bump measuring 31cm.

WinterLover · 28/06/2011 19:31

Hello everyone!!

Hope your all doing ok now its cooler outside.

Ive got a MW appointment tomoro il be 32+5 so not quite sure why im meant to be there as my next one should be at 34w.

LifeOfKate · 28/06/2011 19:54

Thanks all, my consultant is lovely :) Would really like to avoid an epidural this time and going to ask about the possibility of a water birth at my next appt with midwife :) Not sure how many pools there are at the hospital I'll be going to or what their criteria will be.

Am smiling at the thought of all of you hurriedly packing your hospital bags... DH made me pack mine at 34 weeks last time as he was getting nervous, but can't see me doing it for weeks and weeks yet this time (am 34 weeks tomorrow) :o Was 2 weeks late with DS and can't see this one being in a hurry either...

MrsVidic · 28/06/2011 19:57

Today I feel like a beached whale- my bump feels like its about to explode! I just cant get comfy!!!! Anyone else?

DP and I have put dd in a big bed and put the cot in the nursery so were all ready for the baby to come! I know I have another 5 weeks and 1 day and 4 hours (not that I'm counting it down) but I feel like I could happily have this baby now!

Dp is doing my head in atm- I feel like I have 2 toddlers as he is not handeling her tantrums well. To be honest- she is quite well behaved and only 1 ish strops aday. I suppose its hard for him as he isnt used to the ignore method and wants to cave in way to easily.

Has anybody thought about what they will be wearing on the way home from hospital? I am stumped

KLou111 · 28/06/2011 20:56

Cooler Winter? Been the hottest of the last 3 days here!! Managed to get 4 loads of washing out!! Well, at least something can benefit from it, we've been stuck in doing the house.

But, alas! Just got the curtains up in the 3rd bedroom, carpet fitter been out to measure up and had it not been for a tiny burn hole from our fire (about 1/2 inch to the side of where the sodding rug was!) we could have got both the landing and bedroom out of it, but can only doing landing now. Have to go to carpet right tomorrow and try and get a cut off or something, and carpet man going to fit it tomorrow afternoon hurrah!!

Have our first AN class in the morning, so got the morning 'off' but then it's just the bathroom ceiling, 2 bedroom doors and surrounds, and nursery and painting well and truly DONE!

Cot and mattress turned up here, very Grin. Bless DH, he said, bloody hell, it's tiny, and made an eek sort of face lol. It's so cute :) Slightly lighter than the other furniture, but doesn't matter. Can't wait to build it all and put it in. Fingers crossed we can empty the nursery Thursday so I can pain tFriday, as the other room doesn't smell too bad for my mum and dad coming Saturday. I'll have to get a plug in smelly thing :) Be nice to get it done before they come.

Rugby and Annie mouthguard link www.laboraid.com They are looking for volunteers to try it through labour if you are due before August 7th (I'm 11th so I lied!!) Meant to help, could do with all the help I can!!

LifeofKate great news about the birth :)

Glad you're sorted Yukana

KLou111 · 28/06/2011 21:34

Strange country which we live isn't it Winter lol!! We were hearing on the radio how rainy it was in some places today, while we were enjoying a BBQ!

alibaba76 · 28/06/2011 22:36

Rugby I am the same as you - head down but loose and measuing 31 weeks when I am 32.

MrsV I felt like you today too, bump felt huge and stretched. Felt like it was going to burst! Think I've had a growth spurt but skin has yet to catch up!

SelinaDoula · 29/06/2011 08:44

Am going for my 36 week appointment today, fingers crossed my BP is ok.
Its my last week in work (yeah!) a good thing as I am pretty much useless at the mo.
Got the sore rib thing and my piles are getting sore now.
Was swimming in the sea on the weekend, which was lovely.
All feeling very close now!

KLou111 · 29/06/2011 08:56

Fingers crossed Selina yes it is getting close now!!

34 weeks here tomorrow, appt with MW in the afternoon.
First AN class this morning, feeling a bit Hmm! Why do they have to do the birth one first!?!?!?!?

OP posts:
WinterLover · 29/06/2011 11:00

Back from my MW appointment, they had messed up they'd written it in the diary that I was 34 weeks last time and 36 weeks today... I should have been tehre next week instead. Oh well got to wait 3 weeks till my next one now, that will be my 36 week one and the one we do the borth plan at Grin

This baby has 3 weeks to sort itself out and stay head down, not breech. Its been breech at every one of my MW, consultant and scan appointments. Its either head in pelvis or bum in pelvis Hmm they cant say for sure, she spent a good 10min prodding and poking and still couldnt work it out.

She's told me to go look into ECV's as if they still cant figure it out next time they will send me for a scan and arrange an ECV. However from what Id read previously you shouldnt have an ECV if you have an Anterior placenta, but then again placenta position isnt on my hand held notes anywhere so they wont know that bit.

Anyways rant over Grin DPs papering babys room now Grin although bad news is he may/will have to have an opperation on his knee ASAP and will be in pot for 12 weeks min... we've just got to wait for a scan date for him and consultant appointment to come through :(

davidtennantsmistress · 29/06/2011 13:29

hello all, How are we all plodding along in this heat? my god it's sweltering - only good thing is my cravings have taken a sudden turn towards raspberrys cream & mergangue. :o

mrsv - yes I also am in the can't get comfy stage now - and it's onl just 32 weeks. why is it we sit down and we can't breath, we stand up and we have swollen legs, we lay down on our sides and the hips hurt/ache - bad times. bad times. lol.

Klou - enjoy your class - it's not that bad - honestly. Wink lol.

winter - i'd heard that to - but only via a friend 3rd hand who said something about it being dangerous for the baby as in effec thtey cut the blood supply to the baby - I have no idea but i'm sure it must be safe otherwise it wouldn't be done? lots of washing on the line here as well atm.

Yak - good news on your iron, the doctor's reduced mine back down, I was on 3 tablets and 2 spatones but he's said 2 tablets only & no spartones as I was so lethargic all the time it was unbelieveable. fingers crossed.

oh for those with bags - roughly what's in yours? i've got mine half done but be buggered if I can remember what I need.

is anyone else freaking out about the prospect of clothing/keeping cool a newborn in this heat (and potentially hotter?) waht the hell do you dress them in?

davidtennantsmistress · 29/06/2011 13:30

(oh ref measurements - was measuring 30.5cm at 31 weeks so all's well here. :))

MrsStevo · 29/06/2011 13:35

Afternoon all. I've just got back from another waste-of-time appointment with a bunch of idiots at Lincoln County Hosp. Have had enough of them now and seriously considering defecting to Nottingham City Hospital for the rest of my pregnancy and birth.

Just wondered if anyone else is under Notts City (or QMC for that matter) and if so - what has your experience been like?

davidtennantsmistress · 29/06/2011 13:39

are you able to do that mrss? how are the babies doing?

MrsStevo · 29/06/2011 14:09

Yep I think so - all part of patient choice and choosing where you want to have your baby/babies. I was offered the chance to transfer there before (when we were discharged from Birmingham) but we stupidly said that we'd stick with Lincoln. I think, in theory, you're supposed to say at your booking in appt where you want to have them but I reserve the right to be stroppy and demanding considering all the babies have been through already.

Babies are causing stress at the moment to be honest! One baby's growth has tailed off a bit and the other has an enlarged ventricle in the brain - only found out about both of these things at my scan last Friday and haven't seen / spoken to my consultant yet about it. Although I got a call this morning at 9:50am from the lead midwife asking me to come in for 10:15 as my consultant said he wanted to see me and for dopplers to be done. Rushed about like a maniac to get there on time and was just left waiting for ages, then had scan (dopplers fine) and then waited for AGES and just ended up seeing an average joe midwife and yet ANOTHER random doctor. My consultant was nowhere to be seen and I was just sent packing and told to come back on Friday for my normal scan. Nothing was even mentioned about the enlarged ventricle thing and that is what is worrying me most of all at the moment.

I know I should be grateful that the babies are being super-well monitored (and I AM grateful for that) but I just feel so unsupported and uninformed as I never see the same person twice and the doctors are just so dismissive. They don't seem to understand that telling me that one of my children may have a brain abnormaility is actually quite significant and I might have a few questions about it!!

Sorry, I'm back on rant mode now. I will go away again and get on with eating the cakes I've just bought.

Rehune · 29/06/2011 14:21

Mrs Stevo How stressy for you! It must be so frustrating. Thinking about you. Hope everything turns out alright.

Am 35+3 today and really feeling it now. Can't believe due date is only 4 weeks away. Gulp. Nursery ready and bag almost packed. Just waiting for my mum to get here (flight booked for 9th July from Sri Lanka) Wish I could stop working. Trudging into work in this weather on the tube makes you suicidal.

davidtennantsmistress My mum sent over heaps of little cotton vests and flimsy little cotton kimonos from sri lanka (where they are used to keeping children cool) I would say cotton all the way.

Rehune · 29/06/2011 14:26

Had first ante natal class at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea last thursday and they show this birth video from the early '90s. I had a giggling fit at the hair of the partners. Both women (normal and water birth) were really quiet during the whole thing.

This was an era before the Brazillian - and boy it showed. Hope this isnt an overshare but getting waxed has become more and more hilarious. Last appointment I had to be rolled off the table. You didnt know where the dignity ended and the woman began

CappuccinoCarrie · 29/06/2011 14:38

Oh rehune I've still got the indignity of my final pre-birth leg and bikini wax to go, I'm just hairy right now Blush
mrsS how utterly crap to call you in and then give you rubbish care, what muppets!
I'm 33wks tomorrow and getting concerned that this baby is far from engaged, its having a merry old time roaming around any which way but down. Seeing midwife in 2 weeks.
Think tonight could be the night to get the baby clothes out of the loft and start sorting while DH is at football :)

MrsStevo · 29/06/2011 16:16

Loving all the waxing chat! I'm booked in for another bikini and leg wax on Monday (had one a month ago). It is almost worse when you know what pain to expect! Still, much better than the alternative of a midwife shaving away with some rusty old bic just before my CS (ok, maybe not rusty!).

Am currently researching baby monitors and could do with some advice. I DON'T want one of those ones with a video as I'm sure I will just sit and stare at it the whole time. The two I've seen that seem to get good reviews are:
BT Baby Monitor 150 (200 and 250 are not so well reviewed)
Angelcare Sound and Movement AC401

My only specific requirements are that I can hear the babies clearly (obviously!)and that it has a temperature monitor thing.

Any second+ timers got any advice on this matter?

KLou111 · 29/06/2011 16:33

MrsS I've got the angelcare sound and movement deluxe (with 2 monitors so we haven't got to move them) won on ebay for around £70 months ago. It's brand new, and we tried it all round the house and up the garden and it is FAB! Can't comment on the movement thing for obvious reasons, but on setting it up, I forgot to turn off the movement sensor and it kept going off so obviously works lol! Sorry you're still having a shite time with everything :(

DTM I'm going to get some short sleeve vests if this weather keeps up, that'll prob be good for the baby keeping cool. We've got some t-shirt sort of sleeve ones already.

Well carpet fitter in as we speak :) Bought a bit of carpet off the roll and only cost £38! only a cheapy one, but it's guest room so no point spending a fortune.

Had first AN class this morning. DH had to walk out 30 mins in as he was all queasy (and he walked into a stack of chairs outside the room which I heard!) He had to go and get a bar of choc. He better be OK on the flaming day!! To be fair though, it was VERY warm in the room so that didn't help. The lady sitting next to him also looked a bit off and on talking to her afterwards she said she did feel ill. Lovely lady, her husband coming to the class next time as he had to work, and we're going to all go for a cuppa afterwards so that'll be nice :)
Bit miffed as not only have the classes been delayed a month due to understaffing, but they are now every fortnight instead of weekly so the last one is 10th August, the day before my due date!! They lady we met is due that day, so she said we'll have to race for the birthing pool! I told her I'd happily share lol!!!

OP posts:
KLou111 · 29/06/2011 16:34

Oh re monitor MrsS, you don't get that interfereance on the angelcare, it only kicks in if there is sound in the room, so none of that constant crackle noise.

Anu3 · 29/06/2011 18:04

Hello Ladies! Wow took me a whole day to read all the posts from the last 3 days!!! Is it just me or is everyone feeling the excitement as we're getting closer to our D dates!!

I had my second AN class - where they spoke about pain relief and showed us some videos. And i have to admit it freaked me out!!!! We were shown 4 videos - first one - v delivery without any painkillers; second one - c section ; third one - v delivery with epidural and the last one was a waterbirth. The first one especially was too much to watch and it has made me more open now to definitely want to have an option of getting an epidural if i want it :(

Loving the waxing talk :) I had a bikini and leg wax yesterday! Im 34+4 today and thought i should get one now and then have one close to 39 weeks if i havent popped! :)

I finally have my hospital bag contents sorted. Now Im just going to pack it over the weekend. Its getting so close now and its starting to feel all real!

MrsS - I've got the angelcare sound and movement deluxe (with 2 monitors) as well. I got it given by a friend and I agree with Klou it works very well! Im sorry you are having such a hard time and hope everything sorts out soon - Not good being stressed when you dont need it!
