wishwales really happy to hear that baby is staying put :) As frustrating as it is, you are in the right place and so is she. What kind of books do you like? Maybe one of us can recommend an unputdownable novel Grin

MrsStevo · 13/05/2011 20:40

wishwales it is so lovely to hear from you and hear that baby Morgan is still staying put. Like you say, 28 weeks is THE milestone really with premmie babies so that is fantastic news for you both. I can't imagine how rubbish it must be being stuck in hospital all this time but you know it is absolutely the right place for you both at the moment and once your little one arrives and you have her snuggled safely in your arms it will all be worth it. Continued finger crossing and best wishes from me x x

wishwales · 13/05/2011 20:54

Hi Mistress. I spoke to the midwife about it today and she is going to put in my chart that she thinks it is a good idea - even for like 6 hours. My next clinic appt with my medical 'team' is Tuesday, so I will ask them after we review the scan, etc. It perks me up a bit even considering the possibility.

Star, I guess I like modern literary fiction? Something well-written with some substance to it? Hard to describe I guess but send over the suggestions because I can read about them on Amazon and decide. Thanks for the idea.

Mrs, thanks for your ongoing support. We are both 'hanging' in there.

jspark123 · 13/05/2011 21:32

Hi everyone,
wishwales glad to hear your little one is hanging on in there x

I have been busy signing up to all the mum and baby clubs, lots of offers and freebies to be had.
These are the ones recommended by friends:
Sainsbury's; Tesco; Asda; Mothercare; Boots; Emma's Diary; also signed up to HIPP organic foods. I got my Sainsbury's pamper pack yesterday, it has a lot more in it than I thought, and I now have a handy travel changing mat!

If anyone knows of any other good ones to sign up for we could increase this list!

I will be 28 weeks tomorrow with midwife appt next wednesday, so may be able to listen to heart beat again :)

aStarInStrangeways · 13/05/2011 21:47

wishwales have you read any Rupert Thomson? I recommend The Insult, The Book of Revelation and Death of a Murderer (although that last one is pretty grim at times). He has a unique, dreamlike style undercut with very dry wit.

Or how about Haruki Murakami? He can be a bit whimsical at times but a lot of his books are mesmerising. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is the first one I read and it completely drew me in (also it is massive so should keep you going for a while. I also loved Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, and Underground.

A very well-written thriller that kept me gripped was Jesse Kellerman's The Brutal Art.

I'll try and think of some more...damn pregnancy brain Blush

MrsVidic · 14/05/2011 07:03

Wishwales 28 weeks yeah! I think the trip home sounds good.

Well the Mw appt went ok yesterday, baby is fine measuring a week under but I did for dd anyway. Heart beat was spot on a d my bp wasn't too low. On the down side my dd did a poo on the floor in the middle of the appointment! In my defines sue had just done a wee 5 min before! The Mw was brill though and we had dd on a potty for the rest of the appointment doing the loudest poo ever! Good job the Mw was the same for dd so she has a soft spot for her!
I feel a little guilty as I haven't signed up for anything baby wise yet, I did get sick of all the junk mail and calls last time thou

konatsu · 14/05/2011 08:19

Good Morning to All!!!
Wishing you a lovely and relaxed weekend!
I definitively need one after a very bad experience with the purchase of nursery furniture? I almost had a nervous breakdown. Sad

jspark123 thank for the tips!!! Was the travel changing mat with the Sainsbury's pamper pack?

aStar, I love Murakami

MrsV very good for the visit and I?ll be not too worry for your DD poo episode...Smile

RugbyWidow7 · 14/05/2011 08:59

Wow new exciting thread! Bit late to the party -sorry. I'm 26 weeks tomo, so one week countdown. It really seems to have speeded up this last few weeks, after the first 3 months which went soooo slowly. Really enjoying it now that a small bump has appeared.

Ooh Anu / Annie cramps poor you, sounds horrible! Keep stretching! I?ve been getting nose bleeds ? nice.

Sex drive has definitely increased, though by the time we?re in bed at night, we?re both so tired we?re out in seconds ? such a shame. NB to self - make more effort!

Wishwales - keep smiling. I hope you are being spoiled rotten. You're doing brilliantly!

Preparation: We have so much to do still. No luck on the car front yet. Went furniture shopping yesterday... and came back with a blanket! Need to order buggy. Still have no clue what half the stuff in the shops is!! SO much to get organised. Though I did write myself a mammouth 3-month excel list yesterday, for everything, so feeling ever so slightly more organised. Hmm

Konatsu, I joined the Boots baby club and got a free black changing bag (given it to DH, which he was chuffed about, and going to get a girlier version for me Smile)

jspark123 · 14/05/2011 11:17

Hi Konatsu , yes the travel changing mat was in the Sainsbury's pamper pack.

Going to go for a stroll around the local reservoir later and tonight get comfy in front of the tv for some cheesy music in the Eurovision song contest!

Have a good weekend everyone

konatsu · 14/05/2011 11:26

RugbyWidow7& jspark123, thank you both for the info!
I?m going to join in too! Wink

RugbyWidow7 wow a 3-month excel list!! Very organised indeed! Smile

jspark123 enjoy the stroll!

KTisPG · 14/05/2011 11:46

Great news Wishwales - I hope you get to visit your new house soon. Have you read any Kate Atkinson? I can defitnitely recommend.

Well I spent most of last night in A&E with DS (3) who woke up at 10pm with croup and breathing difficulties. So scary as no warning at all - he had gone to bed as usual at 6.30 and was fine. Hadn't even been coughing earlier in the evening as we still use the baby monitor. Queue a trip to A&E in an ambulance for him and me while DH stayed and looked after DD, followed by a 2 hour wait to see the doc (I love A&E on a Friday night NOT). He's been given some steroids and is now much better - even managed to enjoy his first ride in a taxi at 2am this morning. I'm completely wacked though, but so relieved he's ok.

MonkeeMummy · 14/05/2011 14:14

Glad everyone is doing well; you, too, Wishwales, and glad to hear your little one is staying nice and comfy inside.

I second Kate Atkinson's books KTisPG and am saving her latest one for when we go on holiday at the end of May. Although, I'll be 30 weeks, then and am getting a bit nervous about going into early labour. We have booked a private scan to check all is well before we fly off and am really looking forward to seeing/hearing the baby again.... it seems a looooong time since our 20wk scan.

Look carefully at the baby club forms. I signed up for loads during PG1 and ended up with 3 or 4 calls a day from sales people after DD1 was born; it nearly drove me crazy and I had to have our number removed from the sales list. As it is, I still get masses of junk email and post.

aStarInStrangeways · 14/05/2011 14:44

KTisPG how frightening. DS's one and only (so far) attack of croup was like that - went to bed fine, not ill or unhappy, checked on him just before we went to bed and he was fine, then just as we were dropping off DH heard him struggling to breathe in the next room. Horrible. So glad your DS is alright, here's hoping you can all get some rest this evening.

Agree with the Kate Atkinson rec as well. I cried both times I read Behind The Scenes At The Museum Blush

Monkeemummy that's why I never sign up for any of the baby clubs - just can't be arsed with all the hard sell you get just for the sake of a few freebies. DH would probably love it though, he has made a hobby out of confusing cold callers and wasting their time Grin

Firawla · 14/05/2011 17:43

KT that must have been so scary i hope your ds is fine now

wishwales good to hear you and your baby are still doing well, must be boring in there but will be great if they let you out to go and look at your house and just hve a break

we have gone to see a house today, really liked it but its too expensive so have made them a lower offer so just hope they take it, would be nice to get sorted

i have joined all the baby clubs things already from my other 2, i think boots is the best one. i never got ne of these sainsburys or tescos free things they advertise though, i think because we dont have big supermarkets around its all the local or metro ones so you cant pick them up from there. i am not too bothered about getting junk mail, have never had cold callers from any of them

jspark123 · 14/05/2011 21:30

Hi, r:e baby clubs
I would agree with MonkeeMummy regarding looking carefully at the forms. I have only given out the minimum of details required and have not given my phone number to any of them, and made sure to untick the boxes asking to be able to give your details to third parties, hopefully this reduces the amount of junk mail.

Had lots of fresh air today with 2 walks in the country, will sleep well tonight!

konatsu · 15/05/2011 07:43

Good morning!

KTisPG must have been so shocking! I?m glad your DS is better now and hope you recovered.

MonkeeMummy, thanks for the advice, I?ll definitely not given my number out!

Filawla, I keep finger crossed for the house!

Have you watched Eurovision Song Contest? Did you like it? I think it was much better than last year?
I woke up very early this morning and I?ve already prepared breakfast. Today I was in the mood for US pancakes with maple syrup and blueberries.Grin Now I?m waiting for DH to wake up.
Wish you a lovely Sunday! Smile

RugbyWidow7 · 15/05/2011 08:57

I stayed up far too late trying to see if Blue would win, then woke up early this morning, so knackered. Treating myself to a real coffee Wink [ brew]

Well I had a really productive day with Mum yesterday, after my last post on nursery furniture / bedding etc! Managed to get most of it, so feeling a lot better (though purse a lot lighter!). Mamas and Papas took a hit. As did Tesco for that matter! I feel like I've either got it or know what I'm going to get for most items now, which feels like a weight lifted! Just need to get the carpet down in the nursery now, so we can get things out of boxes.

May even try to make a trip to Bicester Village today on the way back from my parents to home. Feel like I might be on a roll!

wishwales · 15/05/2011 11:53

Thanks for the book recommendations ladies. I just ordered 'Norwegian Wood' to start with. We'll see how it goes and then maybe Kate Atkinson next. Something to look forward to....Just what the doctor ordered :)

captainbarnacle · 15/05/2011 12:13

I stayed up at 2am with my sister chatting about eurovision and drinking a cheeky bucks fizz and waiting for her DH to finish work and pick her up.

I am so shattered (2x DS) and have slept on the sofa all morning with a kids DVD on the tv. Hmm

Is 28 weeks really the 3rd trimester? omg that's me this week. I really should get a move on and buy this baby something to wear!

KLou111 · 15/05/2011 13:02

So glad everything going well wishwales, hopefully you get to go home soon for a few hours at least :)

Have joined all the baby clubs, been trying to find more though :)

Re lists Rugby I think you and I are so alike, list galore here, got to be organised and all that!

Had our 4d scan yesterday and all I can say is OMG OMG OMG, it was the most beautiful thing ever (well so far :) )I was blubbing away like a right one and started DH off too!
It was beautiful. Am trying to upload vid to youtube at the mo for my parents who are away, so I'll give you link later.
Have put on a couple of piccys :)

coastgirl · 15/05/2011 13:33

I'm nearly 28 weeks, can't believe it! I have a really obvious bump now but my colleagues were laughing that I don't look pregnant from the back and then when I turn round - WHOA!

We have loads of bits for the baby's room and it's nearly sorted. DH has gone to Ikea today to get some furniture but went into Mamas and Papas on his own...he'll have bought every useless but cute thing in there! I think it's great that he likes baby shopping though.

impatient1 · 15/05/2011 16:15

klou your baby is gorgeous! Am jealous now, really want a 4d scan!

Leilandri · 15/05/2011 16:18

So good to hear that you and your baby girl are doing ok wishwales Lots of hugs, and keep us posted X

I'm finally feeling excited about Baby2 now, after sorting our room out this weekend. Cot is up, cot top changer has been constructed, and baby clothes are out of the loft and organised into drawers. Have even put stickers on the wall above cot so baby has his own space within our room Grin
Just got to wash all the baby clothes over the coming weeks, the mattress cover and the car seat cover - phew nearly there!

Got a midwife appt this Thurs, will be nice to see her, I've forgotten what she looks like! Haven't seen her since 15 weeks, so hopefully all is ok in there.
Then I have a growth scan and consultant visit at 34 weeks, going to see Bon Jovi live at 35 weeks! Taking DS to see a real Thomas Steam Train in early July, and then meeting baby at 39+2 (thanks to CS) so a busy time for me ahead!!!

MonkeeMummy · 15/05/2011 16:35

Klou, just snuck a look at your 3D pics. Beautiful baby! Can't wait for our scan next week, we're taking the DCs, too.

Leilandri · 15/05/2011 16:43

Klou what a gorgeous baby! So Envy of your scan now!

Good news from me. Hubby came home today to tell me that he is not only NOT being made redundant, but he is also being transferred to our home town, (instead of where we used to live last year) so he will be saving over 15hrs a week in commuting time, and over £200 in train fares Grin
So chuffed, really feel that I can relax now and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. We will still be living with M-i-L when Baby2 arrives, but there is now a light at the end of the tunnel. Also hoping to make full use of M-i-L to help entertain DS while we get back to basics with newborn!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok? Sorry for self-indulgent post, but had to share happy news!! Grin XX
