Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Merlion · 16/05/2011 14:44

NMH we must have had very similar check-ups today. My BP was high on first reading but fine on second and there was protein in my urine too. However baby's hb very strong and clear so same as you will be back in a week unless any other symptoms - so I get to enjoy my birthday tomorrow which is also a public holiday here - result! Sorry to hear about DP's work woes not a good time but I'm sure once dd arrives all will be put into perspective.

Kara sounds good that DH is onside - I'd let him deal with it!

Also saw Leroy's thread - do hope she's ok.

Was just thinking as we've now had quite a few thread babies already is it time to join the stats and this thread so we I can keep track of what is happening when?

CMH1stbaby · 16/05/2011 15:10

kara hope the in laws thing gets sorted. mine are also massively intrusive but at least they haven't suggested being present at the birth yet!! DH thinks I'm ungrateful for the support etc that they offer but sometimes I just want to be left alone! The saving grace has always been that they live 2 hours away, but now they're talking of moving up here, just around the corner, an idea I am seriously discouraging as they'll know noone but us and the pressure will be even worse....

I didn't see Leroy's thread and can't seem to find it - can anyone give a synopsis? I'm worried now..

35 weeks today, trying to force myself to slow down as keep feeling really sore by evening! Was going to swim this afternoon but might sit on sofa instead!!

Looking forward to more baby arrivals..

Hello,

Hope you are all well! Ciara and Naomi are still in hospital. Spent the night in the mother and baby room weekedn before last, feeding them exclusively because it looked like they might be ready to come home. Anyway they weren't feeding properly (which I now realise) and they both lost weight so we had to start the whole process again. It's been upsetting seeing other babies come and go when I feel like mine are going nowhere. Naomi has kind of got the hang of feeding now (although she's not great) but Ciara is really struggling (just because she is still so young apparently) so I've no idea when they will be ready to leave. It's hard because its all that people ask me.

A lot of the babies that have left have been bottle fed and I know that if I'd fed these two with a bottle they might be home now. But I feel like I've persisted with the breast feeding for so long it would be such a shame to give up now. So I'll carry on and hope it's nopt too long until they come home.

Still not the got the internet bloody sky broadband ('believe in better' my arse) have messed it up!

Sorry to come on and moan I'm having a down day. On a more positive note the girls are healthy and they are slowly getting bigger. I love them to bits.
I'll try and add some pics to my profile (if I can remember how).

Take care everybody- not long now Smile

nomoreheels · 16/05/2011 15:46

Thanks all re: DP - it's just one of those tough situations. I am no good with excessive noise, as anyone who's seen my noisy neighbour comments previously - but he can get very grouchy about anything when he's working, and isn't at good at biting his tongue as I am. We both hated working in open plan offices and so I do understand, but I also know I'm trying very hard to be considerate.

As some of you have guessed though, I'm sure everything is just too much at the moment. (I have had a peek at the code he's trying to learn and it made me go cross eyed, so I know it must be a nightmare!) Unfortunately the house is only so big and we're going to have to work around it somehow. However he's really going to to have to get to grips with baby noise, whether it's getting on with it, or spending some time in the library, as I am not going to put up with grouching over that!

He has just texted me from his venture out - he's done his favourite window shopping, had a nice coffee/some time to himself/is bringing me home a treat and is sounding much more cheerful, so that's good. He is very much the sort who has to get out to clear the clouds out of his head, so at least he knows that works.

Merlion it's nice to hear about someone with the same situation, sounds like we are pretty much in the same boat and glad your birthday was not spoilt! I had the nicer (calmer) CM today and she said that women often have some of the PE symptoms but they never develop into anything too serious.

Forgot to say that she was a bit Hmm about me wanting a water birth with this cough - I really hope it shifts before DD decides to come out!

nomoreheels · 16/05/2011 15:58

XP with Clarkiee - nice to get an update. It must be frustrating not to bring them home yet, but you sound like you really know what you want to do re: BF and it's reassuring to hear that they're growing and healthy.

With respect to people's enquiries, I'd just switch my phone off and maybe nominate one good friend to pass any news through - I know how tiring it can be to field lots of (well meaning) calls and texts. We did this when my dad was really ill and in ICU long term, as it was really wearing my mum out to come home and feel pestered. Some people were a bit arsey about it, but those who were true friends understood.

Joannezipan · 16/05/2011 16:01

OMG you guys, just relised my due date is one month today! I'm so not getting much work done today...I want a nap!

NMH my DH can be like that...consider getting him some very good noise cancelling headphones and a white noise mp3. I'm not being silly either, it really does help. We have an open plan down stairs and it makes him much easier to live with. The constant gun noises from the computer are another story though! I hope your treat is nice :)

Clarkiee I'm sorry you are having a down day, but I think being a parent is going to entail making shoices that seem hard because they are what's best not what's easy (not that I would really know yet!). Be proud for doing what you think is right, even if it is a harder path.

On the topic of wall stickers, Habitat have a lot of types, but I think from the store only for £18 I think. Jojomamanbebe also have quite a few cool ones on their website including hungary catapillar ones (!) for about £20. They are a brilliant way of changing a room as they grow up without having to repaint to much! :o Only 1 hour till home time and then only 8 working days to go - I can do this!

nomoreheels · 16/05/2011 16:15

Thanks for the tip Joanne, I'll bring that idea to the table when we have The Chat.

petitech · 16/05/2011 16:27

Hi everyone
Clarkiee really admire you for sticking with the b'feeding, am sure it will provide them with a great start and will be with all of your efforts in the long run.
Sorry for those suffering with their in-laws, I won't add my moans to the list but needless to say it seems to be a common theme, heard lots of people moaning today at my aqua natal class too!
My mum came over at lunchtime with all clean white baby clothes so everything is now packed and I think bar one or two last minute things the infamous bags are packed! With that in mind and the fact that all my sorting is done, it this baby is overdue it could now be a long, long, wait! :) Fortunately broken up by spa tomorrow, lunch on Thurs and hair cut on Friday.
ok silly question to experienced mums alert - is it worthwhile taking a hairdryer into hospital, I'm kidding myself right!!! I had another silly question but I think I've forgotten it.... it wil come back

try KiddieCare for wall stickers they have some good ones!

crazychic141187 · 16/05/2011 16:29

sorry wrong link - KiddiCare

takethatlady · 16/05/2011 16:38

petitech good question! I took my hair straighteners to Cambodia (no point, btw, - too humid to keep the frizz under control), so I'm figuring that taking them to the hospital is perfectly sane Wink

sasamaxx · 16/05/2011 16:41

Glad you're OK after your fall Gillz
What an horrendous in-law situation Kara - how insensitive and ridiculous to expect to stay over at a time like that Shock

I'm absolutely certain they will provide enough gas and air for several hours really strong and healthy Smile

Clarkiee what a fab job you're doing - that breastmilk will be doing an amazing job and making them

I cannot find Leroy's thread either and am now very worried - can someone please give a brief outline of what has happened?

sasamaxx · 16/05/2011 16:42

Aaaarrrgghghhhh half the sentence to Clarkiee has jumped up to the end of the gas&air sentence Angry

sasamaxx · 16/05/2011 16:43

Oh and meant to say - sorry for rubbish post.
I'm feeling really really weak and exhausted today, and v slightly sick too.
No idea what's wrong with me - hope I perk up later.

petitech · 16/05/2011 16:51

Sorry to hear your feeling rubbish today sasa, as your my EDD twin, might reassure you to know I feel pretty knackered too and I don't have any other bambinos to look after so sure you're just having an off day, did you sleep ok last night? My constant acid indigestion is making me feel slightly bilious too (great word bilious!)

OP posts:
NurseSunshine · 16/05/2011 17:25

Eeek Joanne you just reminded me that I am also due in exactly one month!! Never clocked the date, durrr Grin How exciting! Am getting constant Braxton Hicks now and every time I get a little twinge at the same time I think "Oooh maybe this is a real contraction this time!"

Clarkiee Sorry you're feeling a bit down, it must be really hard for you. Don't think that you're not doing the right thing by breastfeeding though. You can't know whether the girls would be home by now if they'd been bottlefed and you could always think you should've done things differently but I think you're doing amazingly so try not to beat yourself up. Big hugs to you, Mr Clarkiee and the girls :)

NMH sorry you're poorly, hope it clears up before D Day. Are you on anti b's? Hope you manage to have a calm and productive talk with DH as well.

Sasa Take it easy as much as you can. I felt absolutely horrid on saturday and couldn't do a thing but perked up on sunday. Hope you feel better soon :)

NoToast · 16/05/2011 17:35

For those worried about leroy, I checked earlier as it had been flagged up on here. She posted a WWYD about her DP and then withdrew the thread and said that all is fine. A storm in a Brew?

Thanks for the sticker posts, Hairy bunnies galore (my feeble pun attempt)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/05/2011 18:05

Leroy - hope you are okay.

Clarkiee - sorry to hear you are feeling done, but you are doing an amazing thing perservering with bfing the twins - you are giving them such a headstart which they really need. I really hope you can take them home soon.

Thanks for all the supportive comments about PILs & DSS's mum, just relieved it is not me being mean!

HalleLouja · 16/05/2011 18:58

Am home and dry for the time being. I think the doctors are worried I will have a serious bleed but obviously not that worried as am home.

Moufflecake hope all is well with you. Am much happier now I am home and have some home comforts. Though my mum won't let me go to North London in case I end up in a certain hospital.... Fingers crossed you don't need inducing and we have no more meetings in hospital Grin

mouffloncake · 16/05/2011 19:00

Got sent home again today & am allowed to stay overnight. Last night was very noisy so I'm glad they didn't induce today & that I can at least rest at home for a bit.
Off to the clinic tomorrow lunchtime to find my fate. Think they will induce tomorrow.

kara very impressed with your posting back to everybody!
Pils are really stressful sometimes. I'm sure they just bumble along not realising the trail of annoyance they bring!

merlion are you term today did you say? If so you share my term date :)

mouffloncake · 16/05/2011 19:17

Halle tell me about it. Sure is better being at home. Good luck with mum, sounds like she will keep you entertained!!

I'm an aromatherapist & reflexogist so am using all the tricks in the book ;)

Joannezipan · 16/05/2011 19:39

okay why have I got the most horrific cramp in my right butt cheek? It's been there for about 3 days now on and off...weird! Right time for pizza...I swear i'm putting on tones of weight, but i just can't be bothered to cook anything more healthy tonight. I think i'm also going to be made from cheese and chocolate soon.

neenewps · 16/05/2011 20:19

Hi all

Have been offline for a few days as had visitors to stay. Have tried to catch up with news... I'm getting very rubbish at keeping up!

cameli Congratulations on the safe arrival of your little one.

jasmine really sorry to read about your Grandad. Hope you are ok.

moufflon how exciting that you are going to meet your baby within the next few days. Looking forward to hearing your news.

clarkie please don't feel down. You are doing great and I hope that I would cope in the same way that you have.

kara What a nightmare for you. There is no way that I would want my PIL here even though I am going into hospital to deliver. I just know that I couldn't cope with it... when we come home from hospital I kind of want to get used to there being three of us.

Sorry for anyone else I haven't managed to mention.

Had to go into hospital on Sunday morning as the baby hadn't moved for 24 hours or so and I was really very worried. The midwife as usual was lovely and put a trace on me, checked the movements, heartrate and also uterine contractions. Everything is fine though and seems baby was just having a rest! I spent the whole of Saturday not being able to concentrate on anything!

Had a meeting today with a nappy lady here locally. She has recommended a few types to me and I'm just wondering if any of you ladies have any thoughts on them. I have also posted it in the nappy section. The ones I am looking at are:

Pop In Bamboo
Pop In Dream Dri
Tots Bots Easyfit
Tots Bots Bamboozle Stretchy
Pop N Gro Pocket.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and those that are still working don't have long left to go until you just relax and have some you time.

HalleLouja · 16/05/2011 20:27

I loved funzi buns (spelling?), lollipop fluffies, motherease wraps, bum genius.

We used the pocket ones during the day and wraps with lollipops at night and it got us through. I love them. Though we only started using them when DS was 1, I will try and use them earlier this time,

I would just buy a few second hand to get started and see what you think. My local council gave me £60 towards them. The people on the nappy forums really know their stuff.
