PenguinArmy · 31/05/2011 23:12

are you due in November then?

I think I'm 20+3/4?

Work is seriously stressing me out atm. Only a month to go but am sorely tempted to use my sick and personal time to have it all off after this week.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/06/2011 07:43

I've not had mine yet but getting mine on fri when I'll be 20+4 (it's also my birthday so getting scan shopping cinema and dinner all in one day, can't wait :-)

Started getting proper little kicks now DH felt them last night too :-))

I was sick again yesterday though, and took quite a scary dizzy turn while out shopping. So resting up today before I'm back at work tomorrow.

LittlePebble · 01/06/2011 07:48

Morning all. You'll be glad to know there's been no recurrence of the bleeding nip! Think it was dry skin/growth spurt and possible too small bra sigh the joys of pregnancy.
Jane I think it depends on your baby, from the scan (and the kicking) mine is low down above my pelvis bone but my sister is carrying her baby quite high so up by her tummy button. It's probably baby not wind xx

apples82 · 01/06/2011 08:23

I'm 20+2 today and have my 20wk scan later this afternoon. So nervous to know what they are going to say, i've been driving myself nuts thinking something is wrong.

Will update later as to the results!

shelleylou · 01/06/2011 08:38

SamMarie i havent got my scan for another 2 weeks so ill be 21+2.

edward its scary when that happens isnt it. Try and drink plenty and eat little and often will help a little bit. I hope your BP isnt too low . Mine is low which is why i go dizzy and faint luckily i havent for a little while now.
Keep being sick angain sure little one is making sure i know its there. Theres no mistaking that anyway with the amount of kicks im getting. DP SIL and DS have all felt kicks now

sunface · 01/06/2011 09:38

when is everyone thinking about stopping work? i'm due 1st october and was thinking of trying to work up till a fortnight before as i did with the last 2 pregnancies. My job is pretty much desk based with the odd bit of commuting between offices, but just train journeys so not too taxing.. just wondered what everyone else was planning on doing???

SconesForTea · 01/06/2011 09:55

I don't have my scan for another 15 days, I'll be 21+5! It was actually booked for a week later (I couldn't make it) so I'd have been 22+5! Shock I think the booker must have got it wrong, it seems very late, but I haven't done anything about changing it so I guess I'll just go with it now. It is a long wait though.

PA do it, relax before your trip.

mpops · 01/06/2011 10:24

Hello! I've been away from here from a few days as I've had my folks visiting. I need to go back and check the millions of posts I've missed. Good luck with everyone who's having their scans today and this week!

We had ours yesterday, at 22 weeks. Everything seems fine and it's a girl! I was very nervous too but the doctor was reassuring the whole time (apart from the bit when we had three doctors taking turns on the ultrasound machine and I was making myself sick with worry!). She said that the growth is completely fine at the moment but that they are going to keep an eye on me because there doesn't seem to be enough blood going through to the baby. Has anyone had that before? I try not to worry about it but it'd be good to know if anyone has any experience.

I'm a bundle of nerves and excitement. Knowing it's a little girl has made it so much more real!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/06/2011 10:29

I do have low BP but was thinking might be low in iron, have also been out all weekend then blitzed housework on Monday and back to work tues so think I've just done too much.
My official mat leave starts on my EDD but because I have built up a lot of hole my last day is 23rd sept (EDD is 17th oct) counting the days lol

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/06/2011 10:30

Oh and just incase it helps anyone pg with their 2nd we had DS at nurse for development check and she gave us lots of info on introducing him to new baby was really helpful

BabCNesbitt · 01/06/2011 10:54

Hey dearies, have been reading but not posting until my exams were done, but now they're all FINISHED! (with the exception of a half-hour oral exam on Friday evening, but I'm not so stressed about that one). No more written exams ever! Grin Exciting to hear about everyone's scans - still haven't decided yet whether to find out the sex, and if we do, whether to tell anyone and be subject to the inevitable deluge of pink/blue outfits...

SconesForTea, my scan's not until the 15th, when I'll be 21+1, but it was originally scheduled for 4th July! Shock

BB3 · 01/06/2011 13:07

Edward I was dizzy yesterday morning for no reason just couldn't get my balance hopefully nothing serious and just overdoing it.

I am stopping at 36 weeks this time, worked up until due date with DS no problems (also desk based), but this time with the two of them I just don't think it will be possible (although I would like too!), Working from home in August, finish on 02 September. It's coming soon am away until mid June, then July in London, August from home so quick!

Booked holiday for Sunday (yay) only to see DH's family but have booked a lovely villa with private pool so will enjoy some relative peace and quiet. Also getting a drs note for flying. Thomson say I don't need one but the size of me means I look more than 22 weeks pregnant so am going to get one just in case.

Last day in London tomorrow before holidays! Yay!

Hope everyone is ok.

BB3 · 01/06/2011 13:08

Baby C - yay for end of exams!!!

mpops - no idea but good they are monitoring you. If need be, maybe give your midwife a call and ask them to explain it a bit more.

PenguinArmy · 01/06/2011 15:52

bump is still low down, about my waistline

also I've been really dizzy but do have low BP

yay for end of exams

CheshireDing · 01/06/2011 16:16

We had another mw appointment today and I realised there are only two midwives on our allocated team so I cannot really work out how that works because surely if they have both just finished a shift if I went in to labour we would just mw from another team - can't say I am too concerned but I do wonder how they work it for such a random thing because babies turn up when they feel like it!

Apparently I am allowed t go 12 days overdue before they still fiddling and getting involved and the mw said most first babies average being about three days to a week overdue.

Mw said she could feel the baby on one side today of my tum, it's all a bit mad and weird really especially as we do not know the sex so I suppose we have a bit more separation so to speak then you ladies who do know the sex, to us it's just Porge.

Congrats on finishing the exams bab

Congrats mpops on the little girl.

I am not finishing work until either four or two weeks before EDD depending on if I can still fit behind the steering wheel!

Jane4321 · 01/06/2011 17:39

SamMarie I'm not having my second scan until next Monday when I'll be 21 weeks.
They seem to do everything a week "late" here!
LittlePebble Thanks..Yeah I thought it must be baby...

chocolatehobnobs · 01/06/2011 19:09

Hi Everyone, nicwe to know you are all going through the same thing. I am now 18 +4, (EDD 30.10) but look absolutely huge and I'm quite tall. I have a really prominent low bump coming just up to umbilicus. It's mostly quite nice when people notice. Lots of lovely comments - the guys at work with beer bellies were standing next to me to compare theirs which was funny and reassuring as they were much bigger. However I am feeling a bit fat and frumpy especially when trying to find something to wear. I went maternity clothes shopping - so much floral crap and loads of badly made crap. I got some lovely things from Isabella Oliver but was really disappointed with Mama's and Papas. Had a horrible experience trying to find jeans. The size 14 ones all had thighs too narrow so I tried what I thought was a 16 -it said so on the hanger. Could hardly get them on. With great relief I saw that they were 10s. Had anyone found good dark bootleg jeans for a girl with fairly generous thighs? Also has anyone found smart things for a professional job?

Jane4321 · 01/06/2011 19:24

chocolatehobnobs I've been unable to find decent maternity jeans, they're all miles too long for me... However I have found some nice cropped linen-type smart trousers in H&M that I've been wearing to work. They come up really small so I've had to get them 2 sizes bigger than my usual size (Yeah, thanks H&M for making us feel even fatter!) - maybe you could try there? Also found some nice tops there.

CheshireDing · 01/06/2011 20:12

Hi Chocolate I cried after leaving Mothercare because their clothes were sooo terrible.

I have since got lots in New Look and they have work and Maternity jeans - the jeans I got are lovely are stretchy too and not expensive as you would not wear they after anyway (they have the bump material at the top).

Def worth a look on line and in the New Look store I'd say.

Oh and I also bought some dresses for work in Monsoon which were a bit too big sizewise but work whilst pregnant because they are nicely fitted and my theory is I will get they altered back to a smaller size afterwards because you can keep Monsoon dresses for years.

bilblio · 01/06/2011 21:17

Hi all, My scan is supposed to be next Tuesday, but I forgot to check the date when they gave it me at my 12 weeks scan and I've only just realised I'm running a training course that morning. I've spent all day trying to phone today to rearrange, but no answer yet.
I feel so sorry for this baby. With DD I was on the ball with everything. This one is turning into a neglected 2nd child before it's even born! :o

Sunface - I have 2 jobs. I'm hoping to finish one in 2 weeks time. It's care work and I'm really struggling so I'm starting mat leave 11 weeks before I'm due (which is the earliest I can) and I've got 8 weeks leave to use up before it.
My main job is based in a community office so I'm at my desk a lot with the odd trip out to visit clients... and I'm surrounded by health professionals who are looking after me :) In that job I'm finishing work 4 weeks before I'm due. 2 weeks will be mat leave, 2 annual leave. I'm also using a little annual leave each week so I'm only there 3 days a week anyway.

PenguinArmy · 01/06/2011 21:29

bilbio I still can't remember if it's due date is the 14th or 15th GrinBlush

crappymoodymoo · 01/06/2011 21:32

PenguinArmy · 01/06/2011 21:35

welcome but maybe you need to change your name to reflect your mood :)

SamMarie · 01/06/2011 22:01

Penguin ? I?m due 29th October.
Good to see that other people are having their scans later than 20 weeks too, the only thing that worries me is that it?s getting late if they find something wrong. Reading everyone?s posts I?m now feeling lucky, haven?t had any sickness (sorry) or dizziness (even though my BP is 85/45, the midwife asked me if I was sure I didn?t need to lie down!). Also, even though I?m only 18+4 I?ve been feeling the baby moving for a couple of weeks now! Mum?s convinced it?s going to be hyperactive as I have 2 ADHD siblings.
Was thinking about starting maternity leave 2 weeks before EDD, and then maybe have a weeks leave before that too. Although two people at work, both first time mums had theirs 6 weeks and 2 weeks premature! It?d be nice to have some time before baby arrives.
I bought some nice denim shorts and cropped white jeans from New Look. Started looking on ebay at 2nd hand stuff too as I don't really want to spend a fortune on stuff that I'll only wear for a few months.

PenguinArmy · 01/06/2011 22:06

you'll wear stuff for up to a few months post baby as well (although not summer stuff) I'm having to buy stuff just for our road trip, think of it as buying clothes for your holiday or just new season stuff.

That's what my blood pressure is around as well. I thought most UK scans were 21 weeks. If it is early can't you have leave at the end of your mat leave? Maybe just take a few weeks at around 7-8 months while you can still enjoy it.

I'm giving a presentation tomorrow and need to find something that fits and is smart looking Confused
