Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

The Hotmilk bras are lovely but they tend to come up big in the back, just fyi. I bought an underwired nursing bra from a different label at some point last time, when I was sick of having unsupported boobs, and it was great but inexplicably high cut so it showed above even the most modest neckline Hmm I guess nursing mothers are supposed to only show themselves in polo necks! Will look it out and find out the make anyway as otherwise it was comfy and good value.

cowboylover · 28/04/2011 22:17

BB was in a lounger at the time and couldn't get up so I just threw a plastic cup at him! Grin I have been google the names as well just to make sure I don't end up with a crazy or killer!

Esk love the hiding from DH! I am putting things in the cupboard and when he asks I just say I am sure I showed you those?! Great stuff with all the clothes.

I got the crib together, all I needed was American Idol and a glass of proper fat coke! I'm quite pleased with it but now need some cute teddies in it or something before she arrives as looks so empty. Can't wait to start using it all now.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/04/2011 10:30

BB Bendon in NZ do a special flexible underwired maternity bra. However being NZ they don't go up past a c . I'm sure such things exsist in the UK too (and in decent sizes).

Glad to have cleared that up for you TTL after posting my reply I had a dream the Esk came on and explained it all so much better than me and had already recieved her seeds. I had a lot of bizarre dreams two nights ago!

Oh look should have kept reading before writing as Esk has already far more helpfully answered the bra thing!

My MC club vouchers finally arrived! Now even more annoyed with myself as could get even more money off the pushchair! Still if it stays on sale for a while I may still be able to get it...

Eskarina · 29/04/2011 22:22

Lol COAAF! I am growing tomatoes but not for Dolmio. They're currently being neglected in our pop-up greenhouse thingy. I'm a bit pre-occupied with renovating the kitchen to do much gardening atm.

Did anyone watch the Wedding then? We don't have a TV so had it on the radio whilst working on the kitchen. I did watch highlights afterwards though, and had to nip upstairs for something as soon as I knew I could get a picture of the dress online.

BrassicaBabe · 30/04/2011 08:22

Rats! That's Phillipa off my list now! Sad It was pretty near the top of our list and was a name both DH and I agreed on. But hearing Phillipa/Pippa all over the news yesterday has begun to change our minds.

Good news on the underwired nursing bra front! How long do I leave it to buy some I wonder? I don't want to get caught out, but then I don't want to buy some and then change in size, again.

The wedding was a good affair eh?

nickelbabe · 30/04/2011 10:42

We went to Hempstead Valley to shop for bras after the wedding yesterday.
wish we hadn't.
I decided just to get normal non-wired bras, and ones with preferably no boob seam (because that's just irritating and quite painful - metal files in your bra, anyone! Shock )
Went into BHS, and couldn't find many 32s at all - I'm normally a 32c, so I wanted to try those one, and a 32d if they were too small.
As it happened, there were very few 32cs, and not a single 32d.
The one i chose was a set of 2 bog standard, cross-your-heart-type, no seam cotton bras. they were a 32c, but the cup is really quite stetchy, and fits nicely around my boobs.
and they're quite big cups for a C....

Then we went to M&S - which I should have realised was a bad mistake (i was pretty reluctant given their track record)
so we went to the back, to the 3 wall units full of non-wired bras.
In the whole rack (we were both looking), we found 5 32cs.
five
Angry
so I went to try them on, complained to the lady that they had very few 32cs, "oh, no we don't, you've got a very small back" (no i fucking don't!)
I said (this truth) "John Lewis told me that 32c is the most popular (read common) bra size, and I am shocked that you don't have more in stock"
"it might be in John Lewis, but it isn't here"
"that's because you don't stock any, so noone comes her for that size! if you stocked them, you'd see more people buy them!"
and so the conversation went on.
from the first couple of comments where she blatantly told me I was wrong, she then went on to agree with me (kept going, oh yes, you're right - basically "do shut up dear i'm not listening") - told me I 'd have more sway than she did, to which I tried to explain she should report to her managers, but no, she walked off to someone else instead Shock

then I went and tried them on - 4 out of the 5 were not boob shape (they looked like the the pattern cutter had never graded a pattern at all, and had taken too much out the side, making a weird flat boob shape - it didn't go as far as the edge of my boobs, but had loads of fabric at the front at the nipple! they were insane! I have never seen a woman in my life with boobs the shape of a Duck-billed platypus's beak!)
and the last had a cup so small that it hardly covered my nipple! (it was so tiny that I couldn't even get the boob in it!)

I was so angry, and annoyed and ranted for hours about it.

I was so glad I'd got the bras from BHS, or I would have probably cried.

nickelbabe · 30/04/2011 10:47

just googled one of my names:
nearly the same
closest I can find was C James Paydon, (ours will just be James)

can't find an Eleanor, but on FB there's a Katherine (which will be her middle name)

nickelbabe · 30/04/2011 10:48

hundreds with that surname
(so, it's not a made-up name after all!! Grin )

Eskarina · 30/04/2011 20:55

Shock at the rude woman in M&S Nickel but glad you found something in the end.

We've had family round today - my mum and dad are camping in our town, and my brother and his GF came up to join us too. Had a lovely day. Only problem is my cat is petrified of my family (parents have a dog) and hasn't been seen all day. Even now they're long gone she won't come back (always comes to call) and we can't find her. Getting quite worried and Sad. What if she decides she doesn't like the baby and runs away then too? Or takes against it because mum and dad will be round lots when it's first born so associates it with them? Sad Sad

Eskarina · 30/04/2011 21:07

Update: Cat has been sighted in the bushes in our front garden, but will not come in. Keeps moving just out of DH's reach. Still, at least she's alive! May come in for supper, but if not then she'll sleep in the shed (and I'll stay awake half the night worrying about her!) Blush and rock up for breakfast tomorrow. [phew!]

Eskarina · 30/04/2011 21:57

And she's in!!

Eskarina · 02/05/2011 08:59

Oh no! I've killed the thread!

Seriously, hope everyone's having a fab BH weekend

Dynababy · 02/05/2011 11:42

Grin glad your cat is safe and sound Esk I always worry about mine too... worried about what will happen when bean arrives too but sure they'll get used to him ...eventually!

BB Phillipa / Pippa is lovely, as she's the sister I reckon she'll drop off the publics radar very quickly so I wouldn't let it put you off. Love James too.

We're going for Oscar I think .. Oscar Alexander - but I'd like a second middle name before our surname (common name beginning with T) anyone any ideas?? All welcome cos I just cant get it to sound right. I really wanted a name beginning with F but that would spell OAF Hmm so off the cards.

Valinna love that IO dress, I really need something nice to wear to two weddings I have next month. Love IO but they are v expensive so hesitating, they did have 60% off a dress I liked but they sold out in my size Sad

Off now to enjoy some more sunshine bfeore work interfers with life once more tomorrow! Have a good bank holiday!

Eskarina · 02/05/2011 13:29

Dyna Keep an eye on ebay for IO dresses. They come up very frequently and sell for a wide range of prices on there, sometimes as little as £20, sometimes what seems like more than full price!!

cowboylover · 02/05/2011 14:21

BB I agree with Dyna that she will fall off the radar really quickly and I didn't realise that was her name, she was 'the pretty sister' in our house for the day!

12 days left to EDD and the last 3 weeks have gone really fast so I wonder if the next will do the same? Going to see the consultant tomorrow so excited to see her on the scan and nervous at the same time. She was measuring big last time so will be interesting.

Fed up with having period like pain again for 2 days so ready to get on with it, hope he can wave some kind of magic wand Smile

cowboylover · 02/05/2011 14:22

Sorry should have previewed that!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 02/05/2011 15:38

Somehow I can' t see Harry running off with Pippa, so after the wedding hoohaa dies down, everyone will forget all about the name and you'll be able to fall in love with it again Grin

Good luck at the consultants tomorrow Cowboy

Turns out FIL has floated the idea of renting a house on the beach (read in some isolated out of the way part of deepest darkest Scotland) for a week at the end of summer (so cold and wet) for them and us. Just what I want with a maximum of 2 months old baby! The idea of spending a weekend at the InLaws place makes me cringe right now. I'm going to have to be subtle to get out of this one with out sounding unreasonable.

Oh and Esk pleased your cat turned up.

takethatlady · 02/05/2011 16:33

Oh coaaf I feel your pain. My parents tried to get us to drive to Devon (from Cambridge) for a week's holiday in October half term. Isobel will be four months old and I don't fancy driving for 10 hours to sit in the rain in Devon! We just said we weren't sure we'd be up to it and that we wouldn't want to commit before we knew how everything would be with the baby and then have to pull out. They were fine about it and now we're going to a cottage in Ireland in the Easter holidays with them instead - and they're paying for the cottage, which is a big bonus! We can fly to Dublin from Stansted and Isobel will be 10 months by then, so it feels like a good compromise (and we're not going to get any other holidays any time soon!). But my mum keeps going on about having an annual pre-Christmas trip to Bruges (which we did once a couple of years ago). I'm just ignoring her ... we're going to struggle for money as it is, what with our stupid negative equity mortgage and my ginormous commute, and with two other sets of grandparents there's no way we can start committing ourselves to family holidays. I don't think you're being unreasonable at all - I'm sure you can get out of it in some diplomatic way :)

Sorry to hear your DH is unwell and hope that once you've settled in to your new house things start to get better. It sounds like you're a very supportive wife though Smile

esk so glad about your cat! Even if she is a thread killer Grin (just kidding).

cowboy 12 days left! That's scary, as then it's me and coaaf to go ... I wonder how frak is doing :) Sounds like your body is gearing up if you're getting period-type pains. Exciting!

Nothing to report here. My mum and step-dad came for five days Shock and helped us do lots of stuff on our house, which was pretty brilliant actually. Got a conference to run on Friday and I'm shitting myself about it - speakers dropping out, hardly anyone else attending because it's Easter/exam period, other speakers acting like pains in arses (i.e. threatening to drop out if I don't plan their entire journey for them including telephoning taxi companies to compare prices, sending them attachments with maps on (or not sending attachments because this clogs up their inboxes), working out train timetables and costs vs. driving times/petrol allowances .... I'm so going to lay it on thick when they realise I'm pregnant Grin. I have to speak myself, too, to make up the numbers, and have left all my notes at work and wasn't planning on going in this week, so that's annoying ...

Bring on maternity leave!

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 02/05/2011 21:13

Hello viroids! I've had a nice long weekend with DP's sister and family, nice to catch up with them, and our niece shrieked when she found out I was pregnant! We wanted to wait until we saw them to tell the kids, so their mum and dad have had to bite their tongues for a few months!

In exciting news I have felt the baby! SiL confirmed it and I am convinced I DID feel it at 9 weeks (am 16+1 now), its the same movements, and they can be felt, albeit subtely, from the outside of my bump Grin

Bricking it slightly as back to work tomorrow and I am huge. I don't think I can pass it off as too many easter eggs, I'm the wrong shape... so may have to come clean in the office (some people may have guessed already)... but as my contract renewal is still under review I'm nervous about it affecting things.

Glad the cat turned up Esk, the baby will smell of you, so I don't think you need to worry too much.

aStarInStrangeways · 03/05/2011 09:40

Hope everyone enjoyed the lovely long weekends :) We had a great time and I am very sad to see DH back to work :( Need to chase my referral to the mw who does counselling as I can feel my anxiety creeping back up.

ttl good luck for your conference, and may I say, rather you than me Grin You will get such a buzz when it all happens though.

Esk I'm sure your cat will be fine with the baby. My two were fascinated with my pregnancy but utterly disgusted when I brought the baby home Grin which quickly turned to total disinterest. I also found that my feelings towards them changed - previously they were spoilt rotten and rather too elevated in the household scheme of things, whereas now they are still much loved but very definitely just cats. My girlcat spent a night outside the other week as she wouldn't come in and I just thought 'well, she's a cat - she's evolved to cope' whereas before I would have been frantic.

vallinnapod · 03/05/2011 10:01

Morning all! Am so in love with 4 day weekends! Managed to cram in the Royal Wedding, a hen do, shopping and chilling time with my Ma! NOT enjoying being back at work at all. Unfortunately I am slipping into a 'just don't give a damn' frame of mind. Dangerous with 3 more months to go.

Not felt bub move for a couple of days but I finally I have my 20 week scan tomorrow arvo. Am also 5 months tomorrow! I like the big month markers! Although bump is still weeny!

Esk glad the kitty was Ok in the end, I warn you she may move out when the baby arrives in protest. out oldest cat didn't come home for about 6 months when we got our kittens (this was 10 yrs ago!) but she came back eventually. They are just not great with change!

Lord COAAF - I am feeling vaguely shudderful and the mere thought of having to do something like that with ours. Don't get me wrong, the in-laws are lovely people I just have bugger all in common with them, bar DH! Unlike my parents they are proper old people (retired, talk about their DIY, the weather, intricate details of regular car journeys and other such old people twaddle). Saying that, my Mum has become a one woman hat and bootie factory! She is really good at knitting (and not at all a knitter, if that makes any sense!) I think she had a blitz this weekend as she is normally out too much during the week. Let's just say, Ted will have a very warm head and tootsies! I got inspired but I think a blanket (made up of lots of squares!) is about my limit. Took my about 3 hours to knit an inch last night so unless he is very late he may just end up with a hanky...

Sorry to hear about the anxiety Star

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 10:28

Esk - I'm going against the grain and saying your cat won't be happy about the new baby.
Sebastian is supposed to be the braver of our two cats, but he's been hiding upstairs and in the kitchen cupboard since the chickens arrived. Man up, CAt, it's been a month! Shock
anyway, cats don't like change.
she'll get used to the baby, just like Seb will (eventually).
It takes time - when I first moved into DH's house, Seb took about 2 weeks before he'd be in the same room as me. I'm convinced it was because I fed him, so he liked me because I was feeding lady. Which is probably why he still doesn't like the chickens! Grin

sorry.

Had a huge fallout with DH on Sunday - it started because I jokingly accused him of hiding Sunday by Sunday (music list for church services), and he got arsy, then I prodded him in the leg, trying to get him out of his arsiness (it normally makes him laugh), but he wouldn't have it, and then got mardy because he was "trying to read!", then he threw a strop and knocked all the stuff on the floor from the table.
At this point I was still trying to diffuse the mood, not doing very well, so I tried to kiss him, then got annoyed at him being a twat, so I slapped him across the face ShockBlush (in my defence, it was supposed to be a side sweep, but I miss-judged and landed a slap. :( ) and ran up stairs sobbing.
great fucking end to my birthday. twat.
anyway, I waited about an hour and ½ for him to come and comfort me, but he didn't.
I even started watching a film!
eventually, I got fed up with waiting, so went downstairs and started slamming around.
he did apologise for being a twat, eventually, but I had to give him chapter and verse on how to behave around an hysterical woman.

BrassicaBabe · 03/05/2011 10:40

First day back at work after 11 days off! Sad

Glad the cat came home safe and sound esk. I worry unnecessarily about my pets too. I'm currently feeding tins of tuna to my 10 year old pooch because he went off his normal food. Blush I'm with you too. I'm a bit concerned how the old GSD and the young springer will cope with twins. At the moment any soft toy on the floor belongs to them and is fair game for slobbering over and they can race round with abandon! It will be a different kettle of fish when there are moses baskets that could be knocked over.

Not long to go now cowboy. Grin

Can anyone post a link to frak's birth story thread? I couldn't find it.

Sorry you are feeling anxious Star. Hopefully mw will get her finger out.

Wow! What a busy girl you've been vallinna

My in-laws live about 50 yards from our house across the field. Howzat?! Hmm

Well, I'm feeling huge. 28 weeks now. How am I going to last another 10 weeks I wonder! My bump is high up under my boobs. Although I'm getting lots of comments about "carrying well" and "neat" which make me feel better. Still not enjoying the preggers shape though. How long to carry on at work I wonder?! I'm with you ttl "bring on the maternity leave"! Although the sensible part of me knows that I sit down all day and so there is no reason why I can't carry on for a good number of weeks yet.

Oooh, poor you nickel. You both sound a bit stressed. I hope you were able to kiss and make up.

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 11:08

oh! I didn't see Frak's birth thread either!

I wasn't stressed till he did his grouchy act. Don't know where it came from (he normally doesn't get in a temper, he desn't like it - that's why he didn't know how to act Grin ). I was totally devastated - which in hindsight, was a bit of an over-reaction. At the time I felt like I wish I hadn't got married, and that I wish I could end it all Blush
silly me.

glad your bump is neat and tidy BB Grin

takethatlady · 03/05/2011 11:09

Sorry nickel about your tiff with DH. It happens :( And sorry you're feeling anxious star - I hope that referral comes through quickly.

Glad you're getting all visibly pregnant katee :) I love my bump and I am going to miss it. And glad you don't give a stuff either vallinna. I have told DH to ignore me if I have a big breakdown crying because I can't fit in everything I need to do before maternity leave. It will be 100% my own fault for turning into such a lazy cow the last couple of weeks! (Obviously in the event he will be expected to dry tears, make me cups of tea, reassure me, and put up with my general idiocy Grin)

I didn't sleep last night until 3.30am. I struggled with sleep in the first trimester for no apparent reason. Since then I've had issues with restless legs and waking myself up snoring Shock but it's not been too bad. Last night I was just wide awake. Resorted to Basic Instinct, which was on telly, and some terrible middle-of-the-night documentaries. Today is going to be tough!
