Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:

coaaf I am already jealous of your tea and cake. I am sitting here drinking tea though, and I reckon I could make a cake if I put my mind to it.

Went up to the delivery unit last night as I thought my waters might be leaking/trickling out. Turned out to be discharge Blush. It's all bright pink this morning though so I am trying not to feel like too much of a chump Grin

Had lovely weekend with DH apart from that - watched a couple of films, went for a lovely long walk, had lunch out, etc. If that was our last weekend alone it was a good one (except for trying to put up a net curtain, which took three hours of increasing annoyance and has left us with loads of holes in the wall and a net curtain which will definitely fall down sometime soon Grin).

Hope all you ladies had a nice weekend :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 13/06/2011 09:49

Ohh TTL keep an eye on that discharge because bright red blood needs to be checked out.

My poor little boy. He's stuck at home alone with a rotund grumpus (ie Me) today. Hopefully this grey weather clears up soon so I can let him run it off outside.

KateeTheBump · 13/06/2011 09:52

Is it going to be a TTL/COAAF race? Grin

Second the get it checked out if it turns red though..

Hope you stop being grumpy soon COAAF Smile

Eskarina · 13/06/2011 10:00

Is bright pink discharge OK then? I think I'd be terrified! Hope all is OK TTL

We think we have finally finished (well, almost) the kitchen, and DH has finally finished putting up some shelves in a built in cupboard, so we can hopefully start making progress on a nursery next weekend. This is only after a rather stressful weekend of not-quite-arguing about how much is actually essential to be done before Squig arrives (me: all of it; DH: as much as we can do without making ourselves stressed; me: I'll be stressed itf it's not all done etc etc Grin)

I'm still hobbling, still off work. Hope maternity leave is more interesting than being off sick......

nickelbabe · 13/06/2011 10:11

bright pink??? Shock

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 13/06/2011 10:27

I've been saying for ages TTL would go before me Grin. That is of course unless BB's twins upstage the lot of us Grin

Nickel that last only time I saw that colour leave my body, it had to do with some lots of cheap alcohol. Blush Grin

takethatlady · 13/06/2011 10:50

My vote is for the bb twins actually Smile

Sorry ladies, I made that sound way more dramatic than it is. Watery discharge (which is now clear again) - went pink after the speculum as if lightly tinged with blood. Definitely not bright red blood or anything like that. Apparently the increased wateriness is normal for 38 weeks, and the tinges of blood aren't abnormal either - I did have a bit of bleeding a couple of times during the pregnancy so I think I have an easily-irritated cervix or something. Hopefully this all means I'm getting a bit closer! (Though while we were there we heard a baby being born next door and even though it was lovely to hear the little baby cry and all the happiness, etc, we did both look at each other in Shock at the fact this is actually going to happen to us ...)

coaaf sorry you're feeling grumpy. Hope the sun comes out for your DS Grin

Well done on finishing lots of jobs in your house esk! I know how it feels. We have some lovely prints of Assisi, which we travelled through on a trip to Italy a couple of years ago, which I wanted to use for the nursery - it's a walled medieval town on a hilltop and the prints are of two different magical deep blue paintings of the town and they are gorgeous. We bought them for each other while we were there (it was our anniversary). But DH has this weird thing about liking elephants and wanting them in the nursery, so he wanted to buy these funky elephant wall stickers in bright pinks and purples. They just wouldn't go LOL. He thinks it's fine to have a mish-mash of stuff in there. I have gone all weird and want everything tied together and matching. He thinks I am nuts. Don't these men understand - we want the jobs done, and we want them done our way and to our schedules!!

Anyway, we have compromised and gone for http://www.dottyhippo.co.uk/products/Room-Mates-Stickers-%252d-Scroll-Tree.html this which is nothing like either of our previous ideas ....

takethatlady · 13/06/2011 10:50

Argh. this

takethatlady · 13/06/2011 10:51

PS Grin at the cheap alcoholic pink. It was a bit like that Grin

No more discharge cocktails for me Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 13/06/2011 10:55

Thankfully DS has settled for something highly educational on TV Ceebeebies while I lounge in bed rest.

Oh I like your sticker choice TTL. I'm still hoping to foist robots on the DC in the near future. Not sure what DH will think, but then I don't intend to consult him about it Grin

KateeTheBump · 13/06/2011 11:08

DP was thinking about painting some murals for the nursery. I found him looking for 2000AD (if anyone remembers the comic) robots until I reminded him that scary 70s/80s sci-fi robots might give the poor wee child nightmares Grin

Current thinking is a bus with different things in each window.

Started the yellow paint coat yesterday, think child will need sunglasses!

Baby2b · 13/06/2011 20:01

Need to catch up on the thread, so off for a read. Hope everyone is well.

Had anti-natal class today where a woman was wearing a floaty short dress with 3 inch heels. Sitting across from me and I could see her pants the whole time. Was so busy concentrating on not looking I didn't hear a thing! Grin

Eskarina · 13/06/2011 22:12

at baby2b Your antenatal classes are much more eventful than mine! We went this evening and had repeated demonstrations of a baby twisting and turning its way through a plastic pelvis....
Still, it was good, and everyone is very friendly

takethatlady · 13/06/2011 22:41

baby2b I still wear my heels occasionally, but hopefully I don't flash my knickers (well, not too much anyway :) )

The bus mural sounds lovely katee - better than the robots anyhow!

Just recovering after DH ran me over Shock!!! I dropped off some DVDs into Blockbuster, he waited in the car on a busy main road. I opened the door of the car to get back in, he saw an opportunity to pull out and I had one leg in and off he went, smacking my arse and my handbag out of my hand and knocking me half to the ground. Then I screamed out 'FFS' at him, and got in the car and we both started laughing. We must have looked like the skankiest couple on earth Grin

vallinnapod · 14/06/2011 05:05

Very early morning viroids! Squiggly baby has had me awake for most of the night. Not really complaint as I love it when he is moving, although not looking forward to the massive energy dive that will come around 10am!

Loving the birth-off Grin intrigued to see who will pop first!

TTL Grin at your domestic abuse. You trumped my DH who literally plowed through me on Saturday in order to get to the bar!

Fab weekend. Awesome wedding. Felt very pretty and got lovely compliments from people. Forgot quite how annoying amusing very drunk people can be Smile Danced my feet off and sang my lungs out to the point I felt hungover the next day!!

I too had Antenatal last night. Came out a bit Confused I have been really looking forward to the birth part. I'd like to think it's because I am so desperate to meet Teddy rather than being some sort of sadist! We were in two minds whether to go to the NHS classes as we have NCT coming but I thought it would be (and is) very useful to hear how our hospital does things rather than just the ideal world. Got a bit worried as the birth centre (where I hope to end up) only has 8 beds and they do turn people away. Also had no idea of the scope of the labour ward (42 beds) and that it was always full Confused Homebirth no longer really an option now (will be back at my Mum's) but feeling a lot less confident now. MW was very keen (despite repeatedly saying she couldn't recommend it) on the Epi No which I am now very tempted to splash out on. Other than that I was a little Shock at some people's naive approach to birth...for example the lady starting the 4 week course at 37 weeks with no birth plan!!

Had a MW check too, bub 27cms (at 28 weeks) and head down. Followed up with acupuncture where she said as I had been having it since before PG there was no way I would go over due...it make me (almost!) want to hang on to 41 weeks Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 14/06/2011 09:04

Well I woke up at about 4 am this this morning having had a bizarre dream where we were all checking in after a massive disaster on Mars (had just happened in the book I'm reading) and blimin TTL went and had her baby! A little boy Confused. I was suddenly very keen for my LO to get going.
Thankfully went back to sleep at 20 to 6. Just as DS woke up and started singing. He's so not going to make it to bed time tonight.

Off shortly for last childfree morning with DH. Grin

Oh and for what it's worth I've never been to an antenatal class in my life. Reading MN has certainly taught me a lot I didn't know last time around!

KateeTheBump · 14/06/2011 09:41

Morning!

I had a bizarre dream at the weekend, I dreamt I'd had the baby, changed a few nappies and things and realised that I didn't know anything about the birth and had left him with a friend's three yo to look after him the day before. Felt very real at the time, but was a real Confused one!

Enjoy your morning coaaf is he/she going to come on time do you think?

nickelbabe · 14/06/2011 10:12

had my 16week midwife appointment this morning.
I had written in my notes about not wanting a fanjo invasion again (i put "cervical exam" though Wink ), and she said that I didn't have to have it if i didn't want it, and the scanning man should have given me the choice. (or at least warned me in advance what exactly he was going to do, rather than just go "please we are going to measure your cervix. please take your underwear off and put your legs up there." - he should have checked that i was okay with it, rather than making it look like I had no choice. Now I know all this, I will definitely tell them to get the fuck off my fanjo!
She also said that any time I'm not clear about what they want to do, I have to ask them to explain, and if I leave not sure what they did, I have to go see the Midwife in charge to explain everything before I leave. I was so glad that she said all this, because I was convinced she'd just chuckle and tell me that I should expect things like that and that I'll get a lot more invasive as it goes on.

I have immunity to chicken pox - she said that means I've definitely had it (to have come into contact enough for it to be in my system, I must have contracted it), even though I didn't know about it (this is obviously me and my super-brilliant immune system Grin )
And she measured Isbn's heartbeat, which was good, and it kicked her Shock when she prodded it with the monitor thing.

nickelbabe · 14/06/2011 10:15

vallinna - why is homebirth not an option? just because you're at your mum's? My MW has already recommended getting loads of shower curtains from the 99p shop to cover everything.
Is it because your mum said no, or is it because you'd not feel comfortable doing it there?

Baby2b · 14/06/2011 10:26

I went to both nct and nhs classes as the midwife said to just come along anyway. Both involved watching baby trying to fit through pelvis. The nhs baby was too big though ShockGrin. The nhs class was very much a no worries, there is always the epidural kind of attitude. Husband of knickers woman was surprised when midwife mentioned car seat and even asked if it was necessary for first car trip home?!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choices. The hospital looks great though and I think I would like a waterbirth. I'm not going to lie, I am quietly craping it! Oh, and first few stretch marks have appeared despite practically owning shares in boots and clarins. :(

Glad you had a fab wedding Val, I could do with a night of dancing.

Loving the strange dreams. Mine have still all been quite naughty. Very active bump isn't really helping the jsing spirit though :)

Very excited for birth off. Hope you guys return with your wisdom for us. I wonder how our jsing post grads are doing?

Baby2b · 14/06/2011 10:29

Glad you had a good appointment nickel. They sound really helpful and supportive. :)

Baby2b · 14/06/2011 10:32

What is an epi no Val?

nickelbabe · 14/06/2011 10:34

Epi-No
looks erm, fascinating.... Grin

nickelbabe · 14/06/2011 10:35

thanks B2B - i do feel lucky to have midwives who are on the side of the mother, especially after some of the horror stories you hear :)

Baby2b · 14/06/2011 11:07

Wow, that is expensive. One of the reasons I was keen on the water birth is it is meant to reduce chance of tearing.

My midwife doesn't really believe in natural therapies, but I am guessig it comes from her own birth experience. Overall, she is fab and is always stressing that the we should call for any reason at all. I suppose it is the same with everything. People make a point of talking about the bad.

Btw, I owe you guys a huge thank you. I have been having intermittent pains in my right butt for about 6 weeks or so and thought it was my body telling me to slow down and generally another pregnancy thing. Mentioned it to the midwife after the posts on here and have been referred to physio. It can supposedly get a lot worse if left, so I'm really pleased I didn't continue to ignore it.
