Lots to catch up on from the last couple of days and I notice lots of Angry...not good?!

Been a bit fed up too. When I moved to Edinburgh and left my job to follow dh I was under the impression it would be great. Finished with work so could relax if need be. He normally works from home 2 or three days a week, so lots of time together. Also, friends messaging saying we would meet up lots. The reality has been dh starting a new project and working 7am-7pm everyday (including a lot of weekends), then still working in evenings or being away with work. Social seen isn't really happening up here either. Used to seeing friends two or three times a week and now it is once or twice a month. Though they all used to moan about not being out enough. Just different lifestyle I suppose. I am really lucky not to be working, but ten more weeks of loneliness is seeming like a very long time! To top it off I am trying to be careful with money as not used to relying on dh as main earner. I am bored :(

Sorry for the moan.

Just found this, which takes a millstone from around my neck, phew!

From the DWP site:

If your contract ends

If you satisfy both the continuous employment rule and the earnings rule, your employer must pay you SMP even if your contract ends at any time after the start of the 15th week before the week your baby is due.

15th week is the first week of July!

Baby2b · 08/06/2011 16:15

Excellent katee, I was trying to find something similar for you as it makes sense that they should pay you something.

nickel I can't believe the mess that has been made. Some people have no shame! Also, don't think u should be up on the roof again. The owner should be doing that...lazy git.

Eskarina · 08/06/2011 16:32

Can I join in the general depression and woe? I've just come back from the physio. I have neither SPD nor sciatica, but some kind of separation and movement in the back hip joint (that if it were in the front would be SPD) which has made me sit/walk awkwardly for the last little bit and it;s that that's caused the pain. So I'm to walk with a crutch but preferably not at all, and have to stay off work until I see her again next week. I'm not happy Sad. I like work (usually!) and will go mad at home.

Sympathy all round for other woes. Katee am glad you can get SMP.
Nickel can I be nosy and ask what you're going to do about the shop when baby arrives?

Baby2b · 08/06/2011 16:46

Oh eskarina, that is rubbish. Hopefully taking it easy for one week will stop it getting worse and you won't need longer off. Do you like greys anatomy? That can surprisingly help the time fly :)

I am pottering around the house avoiding the house work. Dh has called to say he has to go out for dinner with clients tonight. He was meant to be picking up something for dinner for us Angry. For the first time in my pregnancy I could really do with a drink...fancy an apple martini, in a nice bar, with an outfit on that fits and chat that doesn't include babies and requires 'you will never guess what', 'she/he never', 'we might as well have another!'

Baby2b · 08/06/2011 16:47

I think I need slapped with the kipper, did we leave it on the jsing thread?

nickelbabe · 08/06/2011 16:55

the owner lives in Ruislip!
(the twat I keep referring to is the owner of the business next door. I also don't want to be endebted to him. Don't worry, DH is going back up there, not me!)

I don't know whaat I'm doing about the shop - I'm hoping that people will volunteer to do a day here and there to cover me.
It's quite worrying , but i've put it to the back of my mind.
my part-timer is a uni student, and she'll be back home on the 18th dec..
I guess I'll just have to muddle til then.

vallinnapod · 08/06/2011 17:44

Super stressed here :( Think work have twigged I may be off soon and are piling it on. Not that I mind just over it and over emotional :( Haven't felt bub much today, in fact I am sure there has been 'gentler' movement over the past 48 hours but think it is because I am so tense. Just want my MW appt now (Monday) :(

Dyna love the Scottish rules on buying! would be lovely to have that safety net here!

Ouch at the cervix banging TTL - mine like sticking his head or bottom (don't think he is sure which is which Wink) firmly out of one side of me. Keeps making me think my waters must be gone or leaking as it shouldn't be that hard to touch! And double ouch to the crutch Esk

Sorry about the job Katee not what you need right now.

B2B - cold comfort now but once bub arrives your social network will go nuts. It's what I am consoling myself with as our move is to the diagonally opposite side of London (if I can still call it London, Zone 6!) I would be quite upset if I thought that all my focus would be anywhere other than bub! I would give my right arm (and left and both my legs, but perhaps not the baby Grin) for a whole bottle of red wine right now, followed by a lychee martini or 6 and then possibly a few Amarettos.

What a state Nickel - still looks nice weather there now Grin Loved that your shadow got in on the photo action!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 08/06/2011 19:48

B2B I think the kipper had to stay behind as fish and morning sickness don't go well together! I would offer to come over to Edinburgh and keep you company, but obviously if I can't afford rent I can't afford a train ticket. That and I'm just to tired fat and lazy these days to go past my front door far.

Boo for the crutch Esk. Just remind yourself, there is a little screaming monster baby at the end of it all as your reward.

They made a right pigs arse of your roof, that's for sure Nickel. Hmm by Dec I may be looking for work. To bad about the commute .

I'd love a whole bottle of wine too (followed by some vodka in a swanky cocktail bar, then some proper drunken JSing). However feeling the way I do today I know after a half a glass of anything I'd just burst into tears again. Don't even want sex Sad. I know that the financial situation isn't long term (all going well DH gets sick pay back dated anyway), but it's really just a pain in the arse right now. Please someone do or say something daft. Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 08/06/2011 19:48

Meant to say good news about the SMP Katee.

vallinnapod · 08/06/2011 21:09

COAAF Wayne Rooney's post hair transplant photos are amusing (PS, good on him - hate how he comes across but if you're not happy with something and can afford to do something about it I don't feel he should get flack!)

KateeTheBump · 09/06/2011 08:56

I think I'm feeling a bit more positive today, hoping the rest of you feel the same too Smile maybe there was just something in the weather yesterday (the rest of the office were very quiet too)??

Those of you craving the alcohol, I managed to get my hands on some of the alcohol free Kopparberg pear cider this week, and it really does taste about the same Grin and its cheaper too!

< here's a kipper for B2B Wink

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 09/06/2011 09:28

Not sure looking at those pics while eating brekkie were a good idea Vallinna Grin. I do hope that Collene has had that huge mole on her bum looked at.

Yeah for feeling better Katee. I'm quietly optimistic about today. Esp an afternoon nap...

takethatlady · 09/06/2011 09:49

Good news on the money front katee. Grin about Colleen's moley bottom coaaf, you bitch Wink Grin.

Builder update: he arrived on Tuesday, stayed all day putting the roof on. Came back yesterday to fix it/secure it properly and, I thought, to replace the fascias and the guttering. At about 12 o'clock I looked outside and his empty mug of tea was on the window ledge but he was gone. All his tools are still in the garden, but he hasn't done the fascia boards/guttering or treated the wood, and I've never seen or heard from him since!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 09/06/2011 09:54

Twas genuine concern for her. Skin cancer is on the increase in Britain! .

I told you not to make him tea.

KateeTheBump · 09/06/2011 09:58

Maybe the builder needed a little afternoon nap like me COAAF? Grin glad you at least have a roof though!

Munching my way through Pringles at the moment, have been very good, a tube has so far lasted me since Sunday (usually I scoff the lot)!

takethatlady · 09/06/2011 10:16

I'm slightly afraid he might have kicked the bucket and he's in the freezer or the bushes ...

Grin coaaf. Admiring your self-control katee. On my 3rd Penguin already today ...

nickelbabe · 09/06/2011 10:57

ooh, yes, I discovered (DH foundfor me) a nice alcohol-free lager.
It does satisfy the desire somewhat! Grin
I can't think what it is now....
(and it's not on sainsbury's website....)

glad you've got a roof ttl Grin I'm sure he'll turn up again soon....
(don't talk about people being dead and in freezers - I watched Hot Fuzz on telly last night, but had to go to bed before it finished - just got past the part where Simon Peg was stabbed and thrown in the boot.)

I want an afternoon nap :(

KateeTheBump · 09/06/2011 11:43

Sorry, just need to get this out of my system...

MY FRIGGING NIPPLES HURT!!!

That's better Grin

nickelbabe · 09/06/2011 11:46

ooooowwwwwwwwww! Shock

poor you.

nickelbabe · 09/06/2011 12:20

oooh!
I forgot to say!

The other day, DH got me a TENS machine from his mum's Grin
I had been showing him those live birth videos, and they kept having Tens machines to help with the pain, and he piped up "i'm sure my mum had one of those tens machines to help with her arthritis" So he had a look at her house, and sure enough, it was still there!
(it's about 10 years old, I think)
he brought it home, and we tried it out, and it works!
The sticky pads aren't even covered in skin or hair, so it looks like she's replaced them (or maybe she's just never used it!)
So that'll save us another bit of money.
It's a bit weird sensation though! Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 09/06/2011 12:37

Maybe you need a couple of these Katee. So fluffy and soft.

Grin
KateeTheBump · 09/06/2011 13:46

indeed! They look lovely and warm though Grin

How the hell did you find those Grin
