Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Baby2b · 28/05/2011 12:38

Thank you :)

While I remember, I have my first antenatal class coming up. Does it matter what u wear? In terms of being practical not if my shoes match my bag :)

nickelbabe · 28/05/2011 12:41

i'll let someone else answer that - haven't got a clue! Grin

i'd imagine trousers, though - they all seem to be on the floor.....(in picture i've seen)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/05/2011 13:21

ELC(MoCa) are really bad for gender specific colour toys. It makes me quite Angry. But then most of their stuff is crap and over priced anyway. Even Thomas the Tank engine has a pink girl train now . If you know where to look the are some lovely wooden toys about which tend to avoid the blue/pink trend very well.

B2b if it helps I'm still in bed because I'm lazy. Never been to antenatal classes so can't help you there sorry.

cowboylover · 28/05/2011 16:34

Hiya all, not caught up on the thread yet but I wanted to update as very pleased to say that Felicity arrived weighing 8lb 10oz at 1.41 this morning via emergency c-section. T+12
It was a very traumatic experience for both of us but will post more details again when its easier at home.

She is in SCBU in an incubator getting help to breath and some drips to clear up a possible infection and I am bed bound for 48 hours after loosing too much blood and my body going in to shock so I have not seen her yet but fingers crossed after food later and blood pressure stabilized I can go down with DH and see her in a wheelchair.
All the staff here are fantastic so I know we are in safe hands.

Catch up with you all soon x

nickelbabe · 28/05/2011 16:37

oh, I'm sorry you had to have the CS.
what's the story with that, if yo udon't mind me asking?

But congratulations on Felicity!
Beautiful name :)

Sorry you feel shit, too, lots of get well vibes coming your way

nickelbabe · 28/05/2011 16:37

(those get well vibes were for both of you, btw)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/05/2011 17:49

Good to hear from you Cowboy Congratulations and hope you get to see Felicity soon. Come back and catch us up soon, but for now go and get yourselves well xx

Baby2b · 28/05/2011 17:54

Cowboylover, sorry you have had such a difficult experience. Congratulations on your little girl. Beautiful name and good weight. I hope the next 48 hours pass smoothly and as stress free as possible for you.

vallinnapod · 28/05/2011 18:51

Congrats Cowboy! Felicity of is a beautiful name. I wish it had all been less traumatic for you both and that you were snuggled up at home together but you sound like you are both in safe hands. Wishing you a hugely speedy recovery xxxx

More superficially, having to send back a changing bag I bought online - a Skip Hop Dash - far too small for those buying unseen (like me!) Couldn't fit 2 resusables a full wetbag, wipes, a clothes change and a couple of muslins. And that is if we are lucky enough to breast feed and not have to contend with bottles also! Trying a JJ Cole System 180 now! Will feedback - have seen these in a shop. More worried the blackish one I like won't coordinate with our slate blue pushchair Blush

COAAF love wooden toys we had the best train track etc when we were young. Mentioned this to DH who is much keener on Scalecetric (sp?!) Hmm

BrassicaBabe · 28/05/2011 19:19

A dashing visit.....

Congrats cowboy!! Sorry you are feeling pants and have had a tough time. Felicity is a lovely name too. (I think it means "happiness"?) Get well soon to both of you. xx

Will catch up properly tomorrow.

Eskarina · 28/05/2011 20:53

Congrats Cowboy but sorry you had such a difficult time. Really hope you get to see her soon, and I hope that once everything is stabilised all the trauma will melt away. So glad you're being taken care of and hope you have a fast recovery. xxx

aStarInStrangeways · 28/05/2011 22:41

Giant congratulations on the birth of your lovely daughter cowboy. Wishing you both a speedy recovery - may she soon be snuggled in your arms so you can get to know each other :) xx

Dynababy · 29/05/2011 13:21

Congratulations Cowboy - hope you and the wee one recover very soon and can spend some time together. Love her name! Big [hugs]

Eskarina · 29/05/2011 21:05

I'm having a sartorial crisis. We're going to Glyndebourne this week (posh opera festival) and DH has informed me that he's wearing black tie (required). I have nothing that fits that's remotely like "evening dress". Now grumpy as, although I wouldn't have spent mega-bucks on a maternity evening dress I might have tried to find something more suitable. DH has been before, and said that I have lots of nice frocks. I should have learned by now that what he thinks is a nice dress and what I think is suitable for this sort of occasion are very different things. Sigh.
However, we are getting away for a few days, although we have no idea what we want to do when we get there (apart from the opera of course). I'm too knackered for much walking.

PS - think I'm detecting a waddle. Must remember to keep a check on posture and keep squeezing bum cheeks - it seems to help Grin

aStarInStrangeways · 30/05/2011 09:28

Esk I wouldn't worry too much. When I went to Glyndebourne (several years running, many years ago) there was already a noticeable shift taking place from full-on black tie all the time to more casually dressy mixed in with the dowagers, so if you've got any kind of dressy maternity wear you should be fine. If not, take DH's credit card and buy yourself something glamorous Wink

Last time I went to Glyndebourne, I wore a red silk shift dress, black elbow-length gloves, massive shades and Bjork knots Grin Hope you have a great time, it is the best place for people watching.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 30/05/2011 14:46

Esk the opera sounds lovely (can't ever see DH going though). follow Stars advice (never been so can't comment myself) on the dress front and then go enjoy yourself.

As for me I've just managed to chuck spill a decent amount of water down my clevage. My top is still completely dry. This would not have happened a few months ago. Confused

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 30/05/2011 23:04

Happy Bank Holiday viroids!

Hope you get to meet your LO soon Cowboy, sending you both healing vibes and going 'la la la la' about the circumstances...

Well it looks like squiglet can now hear and has some music appreciation. He/she was stomping or boogying around all the way through the Queen documentary just now Grin

Medical day tomorrow for me, seeing GP about SPD, so keep your fingers crossed for me that he is helpful. Also have my 20 week scan!

Night night all

vallinnapod · 31/05/2011 09:23

Ohhh opera...never used to be a fan but my Dad really got me into it. We have several dates over the summer (not dressy ones!)

Good luck with the appointments today Katee

Had a pretty bad start to my, thankfully short, week. Locked DH in the house this morning (long story, his keys are at the office) so he is having to work from home, and then I spent 10 mins wondering why no one was on my conference call only to realise I was on the wrong number...still got 2 more months to go at work. My only aim now is not to get the sack Confused

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 09:44

oooh, Esk - what a fantastic opportunity! :)
Definitely a good plan to get Bump to listen to proper music! Grin

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 09:45

vallinna - hope things go better today Grin

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 31/05/2011 11:04

Well the docs went surprisingly well, have referral to physio and he's asked for an appointment to be made for me sooner rather than later (physio apparently well known for heel dragging).

Going to go and raid the wool shop for pretty wool to make more baby clothes now Grin best to go on day off, then DP won't know how much have spent!

Totsbots nappies came today, the fluffles are very fluffy, a lot bulkier than the bumgenius, the bamboozles seem a bit like shaped terry cloth. Will be interesting to see which works best! Picking up my free motherease ones on the way back from scan this eve Smile

Opera not really my cup of tea, but I am going to the Ballet for the first time next weekend, woop!

Vallinna - I have days like that too... thankfully haven't locked DP in or out of the house yet tho!

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 11:19

I'm glad you've got a speedy referral. :)

you'll love the ballet Grin

We did our "new bedroom" yesterday - DH had painted it during the week, and we did the wallpaper together on Saturday and Sunday.
We are never wallpapering again! It was really, really traumatic! Shock (mum always made it look so easy )
Then we built the wardbrobe yesterday.
That was pretty straight-froward, but not a good plan....
I felt really faint and ill by the time we came to hanging the doors, so I had to go downstairs to eat something (that something being a bit of chocolate and a hobnob cake bar) then I went back up - only to manage another 2 doors before I had to go downstairs and have a proper rest for about half an hour and a sandwich.
I hate that things that would normally be easy-peasy and quick to do are suddenly really difficult tasks that need breaking from constantly.
We had to sort out all the clothes and stuff after we'd finished the wardrobe construction, and I only managed about an hour of that before I wanted to collapse from exhaustion.
Then I spent the rest of the evening feeling sick.

Still, the bedroom looks brilliant Grin

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 31/05/2011 11:40

I know what you mean, I'm incapable of doing anything in more than 30 mins-1 hour burst, I need a good sit down or a lie down!

Full-on nursery decoration here too!

vallinnapod · 31/05/2011 12:52

Looking forward to buying the house to then pay someone else to-- decorate Grin

Can I ask for two bits of advice please?

(1) I have chronic indigestion/acid reflux. Started yesterday night (26+1) and is constant. Bub had noticable moved up further and Gaviscon is having no effect :(

(2) We were given a Moses basket. What's the thinking around replacing the mattress? Used with friend's two boys. No moldy or damp smelling and visually clean and unstained? Ventilated foam type.

vallinnapod · 31/05/2011 12:53

Sorry for question one I was asking for any good adive on treating it!!
