New thread here ladies.

Again, many thanks to Frakk for the inspired title Smile

Do you think this thread will be the last ante-natal one for the April 11 crew? Or will I be the last one standing and having to start a new thread and talking to myself?! Hmm

Hello lovelies :) Just checking in to let you know that baby is showing no signs of appearing on its due date so I'll probably be around for a bit longer yet.

No sign of baby here either, & homeinternet not working.
Saw MW earlier, all fine baby very low - don't I know it! Got the John Wayne waddle going on.
Even tempted fate by going to a farm half an hour away, no luck.

Well done on new thread, I feel like I could be last at this rate!!

SarahJinx · 15/04/2011 20:34

Hi all

No news here earlier, I'll be joining you, rattling around in here ILTMIMI come end of April early May am certain of it, even though am so huge my belly feels like its dragging along actual the floor now!

I have ten days to go, MW on Thursday if I get that far to check position of crazy rolling baby but am a cat on a hot tin roof and just can't sit still. also, the longer it takes, the more stretch marks I'm going to get, nothing until two weeks ago and now I have a pretty purply lines all across my belly button.

Anyway off to the shops with my sisters tomorrow, I'm only going for the prospect of yummy lunch and to avoid sitting on my ever growing ass waiting for a baby to appear....

Happy weekend Aprilites

PS Another triumph of a name Frak

SarahJinx · 15/04/2011 20:34

earlier = either .... pregnant numpty.

frakyouveryverymuch · 15/04/2011 20:39

Marks place.

No baby here!

Natzer · 15/04/2011 20:47

Ooohh what a lovely new thread, loving the name frak

Feeling sorry for myself today, I stupidly weighed my self this morning and have put on over 3 1/2 stone!!!!!!

I'm hoping that knowing this now will help me continue with the breastfeeding once this baby arrives! (please tell me it helps get weight off?)

Due date on Monday, really feeling for anyone who is already overdue, I am getting so miserable at home not doing much.

Sorry for the rather downbeat post, Yay its the weekend Grin

architien · 15/04/2011 21:25

Went away read a bit of calming Horace and I'm generally a bit closer to my senses now!
Sarah I know what you mean in terms of carrying level as for a few days now I've been considering wearing a gentle girdle!

MrsWajs · 15/04/2011 21:46

Still no baby here either! Hmmph

The best way I could describe the sensation of the TENS Frakk is (way TMI coming up) it's like having a vibrator stuck to your back!!! Not sure how effective they are for pain relief as I've never used one before but I guess we'll soon see!!

Meant to say earlier, I watched a program on bbc three last night called Misbehaving mums to be and it was mentioned on there that coc pops are one of the worst cereals you could eat - absolutely full of sugar! Woops, maybe would have explained the glucose on my urine that one time after all!!

Also found out today that I'm going to become an auntie!! DBs girlfriend is about 5 weeks pregnant - was a complete shock to everyone as nobody had any idea they were trying! Think it was maybe a shock to them as well as it turns out they'd only been trying one month! Am a tad jealous since it took me a year! Anyhoo am still trying to get my head round the idea, I think cus he's my younger brother I feel a bit protective of him still, despite the fact he's 25!!

Good luck for tomrrow Jen

And happy due date JSJ

NotAnotherNewNappy · 15/04/2011 22:08

Marking my place as I'm still lurking but don't often have time to post. Good luck to all those of you still waiting for your babes to make an appearence and congratulations to the new mummies x

Daisy17 · 15/04/2011 22:29

Hello ladies, quick update, bit late as no technology at the hospital, and more details later, but our little boy Seth was born just before midnight on Wednesday, 7lb 3oz and absolutely gorgeous. Settling in at home now. Smile

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/04/2011 22:53

Natzer - it does. Despite consuming my own weight in cake/chocolate since I had T, I'm lighter than I was when I got pregnant. :)

Daisy - congratulations!!

Petalouda · 15/04/2011 22:58

Congratulations Daisy! Very cool name too!

Also still lurking here, usually whilst bf-ing in the middle of the night!

Do you think Holly Willoughby will be joining us on the post-natal?

kittycatcat · 15/04/2011 23:02

Congrats daisy :-)

AussieMum2Be · 15/04/2011 23:07

Hi all,

No baby here either, tomorrow will be 40+4 amazing how fustrating this last bit is ! Ive manage to be patient the last 9 months but 4 days go by and i literally feel so irritated and fustrated by her not being here or maybe its just not knowing the exact day she will get here. I really dont like the not knowing.

At least house is pretty much sorted and all re-decorated, i bought an Irobot Vacumme it's so cool. I decided I wouldnt have time to vacumme myself which once baby gets here will need to be done daily due to 2 cats, as ive chosen to become an anally clean person.(never use to be, must becoming the pending motherhood) So my IRobot Vacumme can do it each night whilst we sleep, it looks like a flying saucer !

Anyway, love the new thread title ! Congrats Daisy17 and I think I missed Sassy hope you are both enjoying your new little babies.

Good luck to whoevers next ! Lets have these babies !

ecuse · 15/04/2011 23:21

Congratulations Daisy and I love the name!

Just coming up to the end of my 3rd week of ML and due in 4 days. I've absolutely loved pottering around, cleaning out my kitchen cupboards, cooking freezer meals and so on, but am just starting to think I could be impatient soon now. Am due on Tuesday.

Hoping to get hold of the consultant midwife on Monday (when she's back off leave) to persuade her I should be allowed on the MLU with pregnancy-induced hypertension (well controlled by medication) as some midwives have indicated they will triage me into the obstetric unit on the day. Prepared to fight my corner as far as possible but would rather have a decision in advance of the day so I can get mentally ready whatever they conclude. Hoping that if she agrees it can be written into my notes so that I'm not at the mercy of whoever happens to be on the Obstetric Assessment Unit when I'm in labour.

Anyway, once that's sorted I think I'd like the baby to arrive, thank you very much. I'm so looking forward to meeting him/her!

Arch poor you, they were obviously just trying to be kind but I can't believe they were so insensitive. I would consider 2 hours a long visit - ignoring your hints that you want a nap and proceeding to stay another four hours is criminal! Definitely just don't answer the door if they turn up tomorrow.

LisMcA · 15/04/2011 23:42

Congrats Daisy, super cool name!

Does anyone think there should be a Mumsnet link in every post natal ward so mums (or dads) can update the world quicker?? Maybe we could start a campian/campagne/campain.campaign why cant I spell???

My disconnectedness is still in full swing. I've barely spoken to DH since he got home from work. He thinks he's done something wrong, but he really hasn't. I've found myself in a bit of a lonely place today after the excitment of getting out yesterday.

Can you get the baby blues before you have a baby?

nitnat84 · 16/04/2011 07:03

congrats to all those who have had their gorgeous bubs.
I am currently 12 days overdue and getting fed up now.
Had contractions from 6.30am yesterday- 1am this morning and now stopped. Can't believe it.
Have 2nd sweep booked for today and set to be induced monday at 42 weeks if nothing happens this weekend.
HOpe everyone is well.

Natzer · 16/04/2011 08:54

Daisy Congratulations!!

LisaMcA I think it is possible to get pre natal blues, I think I have experienced something along those lines this week, but I think its partly down to frustration and being so uncomfortable. I had a couple of days this week when I was seriously worried about not being a very good mother and not bonding with this baby, I keep seeing these new mums who excitedly say that their new baby is the best thing in the entire world and I am desparately hoping that I will feel that way once its here.

good luck nitnat84 with your sweep today

frakyouveryverymuch · 16/04/2011 10:24

Congratulations daisy!

I keep getting all excited but nothing happening. Had period type pain this morning which increased and decreased in intensity, just been for a walk (and in this heat that's an achievement!) and they've bloody well stopped.

Good luck nitnat - hopefully it will get things going for you.

ecuse hope your appointment goes well and you get the head honcho MW to agree. If there are MWs who would and MWs who wouldn't surely they all should or shouldn't? They must have a policy on it or something, although I guess it might be better not to if the MWs on duty wouldn't feel comfortable managing the situation - however surely that should be their decision and not the triage MWs?

Aussie your purchase sounds fab!!! The uncertainty is killing me as well. I really want this baby to be textbook and arrive today!

natzer apparently BFing does help but I plan to use BFing as an excuse to stuff myself with cake under the guise that I need extra calories! Also you don't know how much of that is fluid and baby. I was talking to someone at the gym yesterday who said she put on 26 kilos and lost 10 within 24 hours with baby, placenta, amniotic fluid and all the fluid she was retaining which she just sweated out. A litre of water weighs a kilo remember (and blood is even denser).

Sarah save the energy! Although I totally understand the fidgeting. The only time I'm actually still is when I'm on the loo, although that feels pike every hour on the hour at the moment. I am so looking forward to getting this baby off my bladder Grin

arch glad you're feeling calmer. Read your post on the other thread and couldn't believe how insensitive they were! Could they not see that you were knackered even if they couldn't have predicted it?!

Lis my anglophone EDD buddy I sympathise, I really do. Wonder if the disconnectedness if your mind focusing inwards in preparation for labour? That just about cements my reputation as Aptil thread hippy when I say stuff like that but it makes sense to me. Hopefully one of us will pop today!

How's life in PN, petal, Ali & notanother?

I wonder how Jen is getting on....

kittycatcat · 16/04/2011 11:20

Good luck nit nat

Not sure who was talking about heating milk when out but just seen bottles in my prima mag that are self heating at the touch of a button. Don't know how much etc but prima are offering 20% off at yoomi.com when you quote PRIMABABY1

beckie90 · 16/04/2011 11:51

due date tomorow and no sign of baby at all ha, was induced with ds at 12 days over so looking like it will be the same this time, congratulations to everyone thats had there babys :)

frakyouveryverymuch · 16/04/2011 11:53

Shock self heating bottles are a food poisoning disaster waiting to happen (unless you're using them straight out the fridge or you can keep the pre-made milk under 5C while you're out).

Out and about have a vacuum flask of freshly boiled still hot water, a tub with the measurement of formula, one sterilised bottle and one bottle of cooled, boiled (pref chilled) water.

Add half the amount of water you need to the sterile bottle from the flask, add the powder to the hot water and mix well, top up (making sure you're adding the correct volume of water e.g. 2oz) with cooled and boiled. Instant, safe, drinkable temp milk. And if it's not quite drinkable temp it's quickly and easily cooled.

The crucial things are:
Mix the powder with hot water (70+C)
Store any milk not for instant use under 5C for no more than 24 hours - once it gets above 5C bacteria can start multiplying again.

Or use cartons Grin

lucielooo · 16/04/2011 12:04

Morning all! Just got up after mega lie in.. woke up with period pains so thought I'd better get some extra sleep 'just incase' but they've gone now anyway :( Also woke up to a barrage of 'have you had it yet/can you tell him to hurry up' etc messages. I really thought I wouldn't find them annoying but am starting to see why they don't go down that well! It's really lovely that people care, and I know they're just showing their excitement and I'm sure I'd be pretty hacked off if no-one was interested in the arrival but every one just reminds you that the clock is ticking! Got mw coming round tomorrow to retest urine because of the protein and do a sweep... fingers crossed it starts something off.

Thanks for cake advice lis will be making some more today and freezing - the one i've done is really moist ginger/pear cake so should be ok but will chop into quarters and freeze I think... yum yum yum.

Something else I meant to ask, and I know this is a really daft question but... where would you have your mw's appt?? DSS2 will be here when she comes round so I'm a bit paranoid he'll wander into the lounge in the middle of my sweep... nothing unusual about suggesting the bedroom is there??

Good luck to all those still waiting to pop! It's marathon day tomorrow so perhaps we'll have a few appropriate arrivals then! Hope all the April babies are doing well :)

kittycatcat · 16/04/2011 12:10

Ah didn't think of that frak
