I do hope BabyByng gets a move on for you, the waiting must be getting pretty tedious. Am impressed at The Lad beating all predictions about his early arrival - he must be comfy in there, despite the lack of space to move!

And great scan news Truffs. I found the whole telling people who might be struggling themselves a minefield, but I think having been on the other side makes you a whole lot more sensitive. We saw friends who've recently had number 2 the other week, and you can tell talking to them that they have no idea what it's like to struggle to conceive, which is obviously great for them but I think can so often lead to unintended hurt of others. On the other side of things, I've heard via a roundabout route so haven't had it confirmed yet but am v hopeful that a friend who is well and truly a BESH has made it to her 12 week scan and all is well - this after years of trying and multiple mcs. So I'm delighted for them.

Today's dilemma - all ESH advice welcome. We got a surprise wedding invite yesterday (which is making me feel v old but that's another story) which is great, but I'll be 37 weeks at the time. It's near my parents so we could stay with them no problem, but they're a 4 hr drive away. The timing is also such that we'd have to go down Friday night then back Sat night after the reception (hence missing the ceilidh, but I suspect I won't be doing much dancing at that point!). So the question is, would I be insane to consider it? Not so much the wedding as the travelling. They're not massively close friends (hence surprise at the invite) so it's not like we'll cause great offence if we don't go, but I'd still love to be there for it. But would that be a stupid idea?

rocketleaf · 11/05/2011 16:57

byngsings don't blame you for being fed up!!! Sending you laying vibes lady, how long can you swerve induction? I think clucky had hers at +13 but her MW was v supportive. Poor MrB having been through that no wonder he doesn't want to take any chances!

ocars I am 37 weeks today and I am not sure I would want to spend 4 hrs in the car. It would be uncomfortable and the amount of wee stops would probably extend it to 5 hrs. If they were v close friends I might be tempted to make the effort or if I was going to see people who I hadn't and wouldn't see for ages. Plus that fact you would get to see your folks, who if the live that far away I guess you don't see that often. Tough call.

Scorpette · 11/05/2011 17:42

Big hugs to you, ByngoCaller re: parental situation Sad Can't be easy at best of times, never mind now. And hugs for Mr B too. Certainly reminds us all how lucky we are.

Hoorah, however, for miraculous SPD-disappearance! Hopefully, it is because the baby is imminent. I'll feel v guilty if I queue-jump you Grin I dunno what I'll do if I go overdue - I eat a lot of curry anyway so that'll have no effect, SPD means I can't do anything remotely physical or have Teh Secks (cannot bear thought), I hate grapefruit and my nips are hurty and tender all the time, so can't bear thought of tweaking them. Also totally skint and have to ask people for lifts everywhere now (again, joys of SPD), so dunno about reflexology and all that. Hmmmm.

Occers, it's up to you, but I would've wimped out myself. My 37-wk bladder would also make the journey a lot longer and lot more 'fun'. Every time I get up from sitting/lying I have to do a little wee now, FFS. Still, it does sound tempting... sorry I can't offer advice either way!

The Lad has been moving but all movements very small. I think he's ready to emerge, but is he putting it off cos he's a master procrastinator like both his parents?

OP posts:
Scorpette · 11/05/2011 17:45

I must point out that I do the little wees in the toilet - I'm not sat here in a giant adult nappy (yet).

OP posts:
owlbooty · 11/05/2011 18:56

Occers I'd think twice about a 4 hour journey now, let alone at 37 weeks although I am almost bound to have to do at least one more to see the inlaws at some point. It's doable, probably, but you might find it more comfortable on the train as then at least you can get up and walk about whenever you want. But then there is train bogs to consider. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Scorps tell The Lad to stop faffing and get a move on. My arms are starting to ache from the pompom waving and you PROMISED he'd be early. He's going to be late just to make you a liar, you know it. Grin

Scorpette · 11/05/2011 19:05

I love to be contrary and not do what's expected of me, Bootsy and it's clear my son is already taking after me. Sorry.

PS Are you dressed as Toni Basil as well? Hawt.

OP posts:
Ginfox · 11/05/2011 19:06

Thanks for the link RocketQueen. Most useful.

Oscar I am only 31 weeks but would probably wimp out of such a journey, esp if we weren't close mates with the happy couple. I'm so uncomfortable sitting down, and half-hourly wee-stops would not help either.

Glad to hear you're still using the toilet Scorpetta. I've needed the loo immediately after standing up for a few weeks now. But at least the foxcub has stopped kicking me mid-wee. Rather disconcerting.

Scorpette · 11/05/2011 19:10

Fucking hell, after 9 months of perfect skin I've suddenly developed 2 angry red beezers on my chin. Oh, I'm defo going into labour soon, aren't I? Life would totally be cruel enough to make me fat, sweaty, greasy, mental-haired, emotional AND spotty in my baby-just-born piccies Sad Angry

T'was T+16 Rockers Grin

Stiffy I know your pain. If you've been doing the hypno stuff you'll know you're not late 'til you've reached T+14. Keep going with the sechs - there is a science behind why it works so it will eventually, just make sure it's orgasmic for both of you....it's the oxytocin that triggers the contractions, not the jism. Are you having daily reflexology sessions???...my lovely lady came to the house and pummelled my pressure points every day after my due date and I'm pretty sure this helped to ease the 'ole bod into birthing. The last thing that tipped me over the edge into labour was a one-on-one hypno-sesh with my hypno lady. She came round first thing in the morning and got me so relaxed that two hours passed after she left before I could prise myself off the sofa....gentle surges started a few hours later and by bedtime they were regular (every 20 mins) and the boy was on his way. So, if you did classes I'd strongly recommend the same.

Hang in there matey....your baby is just around the corner and the wait will be a distant memory Smile

Score - any twinges???

4 hours is a long trip to just sit and watch a room full of drunk people Ocarina but if people-watching is your thing then go....maybe ask the bride if you can confirm nearer the time when you'll have a better idea as to how you feel.

macaroonmum · 12/05/2011 07:46

Morning beautiful PESH!

Computer is fixed so I can re-join!

Truffs Great scan news m'luv!

Stiffy Those words of experience from Clucks will hopefully raise you spirits a bit. If it helps any, a long-ish car drive might help too (take note Oca) because I am convinced that it was the 2-hour drive to a funeral and back which set me off just before 37 weeks (Really fecking uncomfortable experience).

Scorps due date -6 today? I'm getting rather excited about the Lad's arrival...

gin I get the kicking mid pee and everything else...weirdest thing. I keep worrying he's going to fall out mid wee

lozza how are you doing?

I just realised the other day that I'll be 28 weeks this weekend. HowTF did that happen?!

MadameBoo · 12/05/2011 08:22

Y'know yesterday a friend called and asked if we could meet up un the 18th May. I said I wasn't sure, as the date rang a bell. I checked my calendar and there was nothing on it, which puzzled me as I was certain there was something on that day. Just realised it's because it's Scorps' due date! I'm a bit excited too Milanocakes :o

rocketleaf · 12/05/2011 09:38

boo thats funny. PESH under your skin.

Congrates on 28 weeks milanos It does creep up on you.

clucky you truly are the queen of induction dodgers, impressive skills. :o

owlbooty · 12/05/2011 09:55

Hoorah on functioning computer Milano !

I too am 28 weeks this weekend and cannot believe it. First 12 weeks stressing about it madly, now we're suddenly down to the last 12 weeks. And I still have absolutely nothing sorted out and the building work starts the week after next. Excellent.

Scorpulina That is what photoshop is for; I fully intend to 'shop out alll the bloodshot eyes/zits/eczema etc. Grin

What is Toni Basil?

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/05/2011 10:55

Hello

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/05/2011 10:58

In wifi hot spot keep losing posts. Yet for truffs and pliz no laying until Friday so I canjoin in leading the cheers? Am reading allbut big trouble posting, owlie Tony basil is of hey Mickey fame, we should probably work on some choreography?

I am 29 weeks today, eeeeeeep!

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/05/2011 10:59

Vay sorry for poorquality of posts/ grammar/ spelling!

Scorpette · 12/05/2011 11:17

Aw, Boo, that's really touched me, yeh soppy bugger!

I'm getting excited about meeting my baybee now - I think the boredom of the waiting is overtaking The Fear of laying. Tomorrow is Friday 13th - will it be lucky for some? The Lad has been v inactive again since @midnight but was going mental last night when we were watching The Apprentice. Either he was enjoying the fact that his parents were snuggling and chatting or he desperately wanted in on the tastelessly cruel piss-taking we indulge in for the entire programme Grin

Yays all round for Booty and Bitey reaching 28 and 29 wks respectively. I found that time really snowballed after 28 wks, so enjoy the ride, PESHcakes! Will try to hold on for your return, Bitey.

A friend once got the mard on with me because I told her that Hey Mickey is about a woman offering her gay crush anal sex (I am your no. 1 stop for inane pop culture trivia) Confused

OP posts:

You and MrBoo would get on so well Scorps.

(I mean he likes a good bumming joke, not that he's obsessed with trying to do the bumsechs :o).

(He really isn't).

MadameBoo · 12/05/2011 22:33

I have just googled the lyrics. Bloody Hell!

Scorpette · 12/05/2011 22:56

I rest my case, Boo

Now tell me more about Mr Boo and his bum sechs obsession...

OP posts:
MadameBoo · 12/05/2011 22:59

His favourite joke is that one from the League of gentlemen when Geoff says to his mate, 'bummers are deaf'. :o

Scorpette · 12/05/2011 23:07

Heheh, I love that one too!

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 13/05/2011 07:07
