Nurse I think I would have died if shouty woman actually did try & have a fight with me Shock, I think my little fat pregnant legs would have run like the wind!

Confessions I loved your random statement, pregnancy is a great excuse for when my mind (& mouth) wanders off on a tangent. I keep forgetting what I am talking about mid sentence Blush.

Re the William thing, I think its a lovely name, its one of my DS's middle names & I actually wanted to use it as his main name but shorten it to Billy as I think that is such a sweet name for a little boy.

Now I want frangipane too neenewps, in an ideal world you could give in work & start up your own business re-upholstering. I had to go back to work too quickly with DCs 1 & 2 although I wasn't working away I did loads of crazy shifts & often had to pack the kids off for the weekend when they were only a few months old. FWIW it was worse for me worrying about it beforehand than when it actually happened.

Glad all is well on the home front now Jasmine :)

Sasa was it you wondering about whether TKs had the Birkies in yet? If yes then ours has quite a lot in at the moment, I bought myself some v comfy Dr Scholls with a funky pattern.

As I suspected baby hasn't moved yet & is still breech. I know I have 6 weeks left so plenty of time but she does seem very settled there & has basically sat in the same position give or take a little wriggle for the last 6 weeks since 28 weeks. I will dig out my yoga ball (somewhere in the back room/ home exersize equipment graveyard) & bounce on it as per MWs instructions & hopefully that will do the trick by my next appt in 2 weeks time. Has anyone on here had a breech baby before or a late turner? Just preparing myself for every scenario!

sasamaxx · 14/04/2011 23:29

Thanks Thornykate - will check them out at the weekend then Smile
I forget what I'm talking about mid sentence too - and I have lost about 80% of my vocabulary which makes life quite difficult.

I had a bit of an embarrassing 'wee wee' incident today. Was using my sister's bathroom when I had a panic that someone was going to come in the door so hurriedly finished and stood up, forgetting that I can't 'switch the tap off' as quickly and securely as normal and managed to drip rather a lot onto my pants Blush and then had to basically live with it, panicking that I would stink of urine for the rest of the day.

...did I really just share that story???...

sasamaxx · 14/04/2011 23:29

Actually I think that warrants a few more Blush Blush Blush Blush Blush

NurseSunshine · 15/04/2011 07:24

Ooops sasamaxx! Well in the spirit of sharing, I had sort of needed a wee for a while the other day but couldn't be bothered to go upstairs to have one so thought I'd wait until I REALLY needed a wee. Which would have been fine had I not then needed to sneeze Blush Luckily I was in my own house and could change my pants but it's made me panic about sneezing now. Luckily I don't suffer from hayfever!

neenewps · 15/04/2011 07:57

Morning ladies...

I am dishing out the frangipane for elevenses :)

nurse I am longhaul airline crew so while I can cut my hours right back contractually it still means I am away for periods of up to 7 days. Instead of working full time I could get a 50% contract for instance and work a month on and a month off. So on the month on I could be rostered to be away for a long trip. I am also faced with a commute from Scotland to London as my base is in London. Hey ho... I'm sure it won't be so bad. Just really wondering what to do re childcare as we don't have any family up here. I'm thinking childminder? Anyone else thought this far ahead yet??

confessions I wish I was a pro at it but still very much starting out. I have revived a trunk and a chest of drawers that were my Grandmothers.. found newspaper lining them from 1905! And the nursing chair was just a case of replacing the fabric on the seat pad so no complicated sewing to do on that. I did make some curtains with mil last week too and also this weekend I am going to make some cushions and some seat pads for the garden furniture. I am still very much a beginner though! I do love it and thornykate I would love to do it as a business but not sure I would get very far with it. Food for thought for sure!

sasa and nurse oh how you have made me giggle this morning. I haven't had any wee incidents just yet but will be sure to share them when I do :o

DH has gone to work this morning and is going away up to Glencoe for the weekend tonight, climbing. So have the weekend alone! Thought I would jump on a flight to Wales to see my Mum and then remembered I am over 30 weeks pregnant and I would need a letter from my GP saying I was ok to fly! Sewing for the weekend it is then! :) I found myself saying to DH this morning.. right which campsite are you staying at - just in case I need to get hold of you urgently and there is no phone signal Hmm

knackered76 · 15/04/2011 09:12

Morning ladies!

Sasa and Nurse oh the joys of pregnancy. Not quite the same but dh did have to roll me out of bed this morning as I couldn't move Blush! Oh and the other day he rushed home as I was in so much pain, couldn't quite tell him on the phone, due to me not being able to talk properly, it was because i hadn't been for a week and a half and was the most chronic constipation ever. He rushed upstairs to find me in the bath crying over the need to go to the toilet!

Thorny My little bugger darling has turned breech over the weekend and I to am preparing myself for the possibility of a c-section (33wks tomorrow). I've been kneeling with my arse in the air and will also drag out the yoga ball and pump it up! I've been told I will be offered a manual turn at 37 weeks but neither dh or I are overly happy about that so if the baby doesn't turn I'll ask for a section at 39 weeks :(. Fingers crossed for both of us that they decide to move by themselves!

I only know 1 William . . . .at least I think I do, to be honest I have trouble remembering my own children's names at the moment Grin

sasamaxx · 15/04/2011 09:43

Oh neenewps - v jealous of your DH - is he staying at the Red Squirrel?
What walking is he doing? The Aonach Eagagh by any chance?

neenewps · 15/04/2011 09:56

Tell me about it sasa I am jealous to the extreme!!! Yes he is staying at the Red Squirrel. We love camping, walking and climbing. He isn't doing any hillwalking. Just climbing this weekend. Not sure where though. He did tell me but funny thing that.... I have forgotten :o

I could have gone camping I guess but seeing as I can just about get comfy in bed I thought camping would be a nightmare! Can't wait to take the wee one... although probably going to have wait until next spring before we take him.

neenewps · 15/04/2011 09:58

knackered fingers crossed the baby does a half somersault for you. I have my 32 week apt next Friday.. was that when they told you baby was breech?

sasamaxx · 15/04/2011 10:02

Not fair at all. I do agree - no way could I go camping just now - all that bending and crouching and pitching and everything - would be murder.
It's not just camping and fresh air, bet he'll have a couple of pints in the clachaig as well Envy and there will be a band and great atmosphere Envy Envy

I'm wondering about camping with baby too - I took DD the following year- she was also born in June. Some people def do take tiny babies tho.

jasmine51 · 15/04/2011 10:11

knackered my friend tried to have her baby turned at 37 wks but no luck so had breach VB at home with private MW with no problems. Is it NHS policy to go for a CS if breech or do they do more measurements etc and give you choices? Just interested.
My LO has been head down and ready for launch for weeks although he does flip from side to side every now and again which is a bit disconcerting as whole tummy does a huge jelly roll.
Oh and Shock at your constipation. Have you tried lactulose and a gallon of water?

I'm feeling guilty this morning...I got my cot yesterday and despite promising myself it would stay in the box and I would let DH do the construction to help him feel more involved, I couldnt resist and put it all together last night...along with the over cot mobile...the mattress...the bedding then sat in the nursing chair rocking with a few toys on my lap...how sad am I!

Neenewps Ive been reading my Trail magazines and Highlands guides wistfully too, soon....soon

jimper · 15/04/2011 10:14

knackered - just wondering if you noticed a difference in movements or kicking after baby turned?

Just wanted to share with everyone that I have one week of work left and will be flying home to sunny Scotland one week tomorrow! Yay! No detentions today! :)

neenewps · 15/04/2011 10:21

sasa it's even more not fair that he gets to have some lovely real ale and a band at the local pub.

jasmine that roll thing is weird isn't it. I sit and watch him do it and it amazes me. Also :o :o at you putting together the cot and sat in the nursing chair..! Can't wait to get back outdoors properly!!

jimper you may need to bring sunshine with you as no sunshine here at the moment.

takethatlady · 15/04/2011 10:27

Oh goodness I'm 30 weeks on Sunday and the baby is breech. I thought it was usual. My mum said I was breech until 2 days before the birth (I was 3 days overdue, too) and they couldn't turn me, but all of a sudden I just flipped over. Fingers crossed ladies!

I had my own road rage incident on Wednesday thorny - I was sitting happily at a traffic light where there were two lanes. I was in the right lane because turning right. The left lane is for turning left. There's no straight on. All of a sudden a big van came screeching past me and slammed its nose in between me and the car in front at an angle, because it had forgotten to get into the right lane. I wound down my window and told them to back off. The man in the passenger seat of the van gave me a wanker sign (which I returned Grin Blush) and yelled out 'thanks!' as the lights went green and he pushed in in front of me. I actually had to reverse my car so he didn't smash into the corner of me.

Then I went a bit pregnancy mental and noticed as I followed them (with them beeping their horn constantly and swearing at me) that the van was for a tree felling company and their number was on the back. They sped off (through a red light) a couple of minutes later, and when I got out of the car I rang them up. It was an answer machine, and by that time I thought better of it. But then they spent the whole night ringing me back. In the end DH answered and they just pretended they didn't know what he was talking about.

Not sure if I was equally crazy as them, tbh Grin

DaisyFields · 15/04/2011 12:19

At my 28w appt baby was breech and at 31w she'd moved into a sort of sideways/diagonal position which was very weird and uncomfortable for a few days. However, at the weekend my bump did an almighty rumble, like old faithful ready to blow or something, my belly-button suddenly went from 90% outy to 100% inny and I now have a sort of ridge down the middle and soft sides - so hoping she's gone head-down, although she's probably returned to her comfy breech position again!

MW really didn't seem concerned but no wonder the poor little thing needed to move, her head must have been being squished into the mattress all night long!

Going to a cloth-nappy demo (sales demo, not march with placards, which I think it sounds like!) in the morning - only 4.75 hours til the weekend wahoooooo!

And booked a complete house clean for when I'm 38 weeks, seriously considering not hoovering or dusting until then to get my money's worth!

Have a lovely weekend, all :)

takethatlady · 15/04/2011 12:45

Shock and Grin at the belly thunder, daisy! I'll watch/listen out for it!

crazychic141187 · 15/04/2011 13:21

Everyone talking about breech babies scares me! My MW told me that she will only feel for where the baby is lying at 36 weeks because they move around so much up until then. I seriously feel like ive got a monster living in my belly the amout of movement thats going on. I think she is worried about her dad!

Went to the hospital last night to see him and he is looking a lot better but still on bed rest.

This morning I got a text from him saying that he might be able to get out of bed tomorrow and then maybe he will be allowed to come home on monday YAY!!!

My friend told me not to get too excited in case it doesn't happen but I cant help but smile at the news that he might be home soon!

jasmine back on the other page i feel so bad when i put teddies in the washing machine and watch their little faces spinning round and round - One of my teddies i couldn't bear to put in the washing machine so washed him in the washing up bowl and hung him out to dry! i took some pictures and his little face looks so sad

jasmine51 · 15/04/2011 13:47

Crazy glad its not just me then...all teddies are happily warming their bottoms on the radiator now except Mr Turtle who has his head rammed down between the radiator grills because he wouldnt sit nicely on top Grin

DH has just confirmed that he is applying to return to the UK next week....cue frantic deconstruction of the cot....all bedding back in the box...toys back on the shelves.....innocent look on face....

KaraStarbuckThrace · 15/04/2011 15:12

Jasmine - that is fantastic news :)

LOL at you deconstructing the cot!

Our friend is coming up on the royal wedding weekend to sort ours out.

nomoreheels · 15/04/2011 15:56

Hi everyone - wow, this thread moves fast!

I'm feeling a lot better this week, despite still having a rotten cold and what feels like a touch of hayfever on top. Paracetamol does nothing! I'm super slooooow when out and about too, even though I'm on the smaller side bump-wise.

My friend had a beautiful baby girl this morning, about a week overdue, which was lovely news (particularly as they went through 2 rounds of IVF.) It really brought it all home that that will be us soon. 33 weeks today - can't believe she's only 7 weeks away or so. :)

Hope all the naughty breech babies turn around soon. So far so good for me (as far as the prodding midwifes have said anyhow!) but I do worry that she'll suddenly decide to move. She's been kicking like a demon.

sasamaxx · 15/04/2011 18:20

Looks like mine is breech too Sad

knackered76 · 15/04/2011 18:42

I definitely have different movements now, a lot more lower down and nothing really at the top except when the baby decides to move their head . One of the reasons I went in for monitoring was that a hard bit hadn't moved for the whole day and I thought it was the foot, apparently not! I found it was breech when I went in for monitoring but wasn't surprised and actually quite grateful it was the reason I couldn't feel much!

Not sure if it is nhs policy to give c-sections but I think it's quite common. There aren't that many midwives apparently who are trained to deal with breech births and after dh heard a chap at the station talking about his daughters nightmare that weekend with a breech birth he definitely favours the sunroof approach!

Crazy fingers crossed he comes home :)

nomoreheels lovely news for your friend. I have a friend who had a baby through ivf and it's sooooo lovely to see them as a family Grin.

Daisy loving the idea of a nappy demo with placards Grin.

Have lovely weekends . . . mine shall be a continuation of sorting out the baby room and all the crap wonderful things that need to go in it!

NurseSunshine · 15/04/2011 19:18

Oh wow neenewps that's quite a commute. Hopefully you won;t have to go back to work too early. I am going to put babeh in nursery, just have to bloody find one now. Apparently I should've put my name down about 5 years ago Confused

Knackered that constipation sounds awful. Have you got fybogel from the doc? I think it's a bit gentler than lactulose.

Jasmine really hope your DH can come home next week, that'd be lovely :)

Fingers crossed for all the breechies out there, plenty of time to flip round though :)

NurseSunshine · 15/04/2011 19:30

PS am officially on maternity leave now whooooo Grin

jasmine51 · 15/04/2011 19:36

Nurse woooooo, having a virtual glass of vino for you, well done must be a great relief.
