Such a relief! I'll join you in that Wine

knackered76 · 15/04/2011 20:49

Hooray for being on maternity Grin!

Lactulose is my new best friend, it's the tipple I have before bed Grin

Oh and meant to say nurse glad the chat went well with xdp, fingers crossed it all works out in the best way possible for you :)

Meant to be playing baby some soothing classical music so we can use it at night time but apparently it's not been downloaded onto the ipod yet . . . do you think Elbow will have the same effect? Well it was a toss up between that and the Joseph soundtrack Grin

NurseSunshine · 15/04/2011 20:58

Thanks Knackered :)

Dunno about Elbow but I've heard newborns find Motorhead very soothing Grin

knackered76 · 15/04/2011 21:13

If dh gets his way the baby will be raised on whitesnake and emo Confused

It's not even 9.15pm and I'm going to bed . . . my life is truly rock and roll Grin

8rubberduckies · 15/04/2011 21:18

Yay for Nurse on maternity leave!

knackered I reckon Elbow will do the trick - Jose Gonzalez did it for ds. I played his album to death when ds was in utero and he used to go all trance-like when he was a newborn and we put it on. Now, I haven't found something chilled enough yet for dd, she seems to like my reggae and dance music I play in the car a lot more, kicking away!

I am in the breech club too Sad. She is right over on the right side as well, so I have a wonky bump Confused.

Happy Friday everyone Smile

curiouselle · 15/04/2011 21:31

congratulations on starting your maternity nursesunshine I have a while to go yet but have 2 weeks easter holidays starting now and am really looking forward to actually enjoying being pregnant, rather than tolerating aches and limited movement while busy at work. Am planning lots of sitting in nursery and rubbing bump Grin

All this talk of breech has made me nervous though am pretty sure her feet are in my ribs!!

Question! When are we packing our hospital bags?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 15/04/2011 22:16

Woohoo Nurse, put your feet up while you still can!

Dh has said that my bump has gone downwards, wonder if that means the head is now engaged (was already head down but not engaged). Still can't shake the feeling this baby will come early!

DH has informed me he is arranging a sales conference for the 2nd June, 5 days before my due date! However he had a chat with his boss and they agreed if things kicked off it could be cancelled and rearranged. As I pointed out we can't put everything on hold because of when the baby might arrived, fine to organise something as long as there is a contingency plan in place. He is fully prepared to come home straight away if things kick off when he is at the Roger Waters concert on May 21st!

Help need reassurance

Last tme I had a MW app my urine had raised white blood cells, indicating infection. MW said it was probably just a urine infection but she would send sample to the lab. I've just had a letter through saying I have an infection and to take the enclosed letter to my GP for treatment. I read the letter and the lab report says they've found E coli. and to prescribe me amoxicillin.

Anyone had this? Surely E coli is really bad? Sure I read somewhere it causes stillbirth.

If it was that serious/dangerous they would've rung me straight away wouldn't they, not left it 3 weeks? I have a GP app monday morning anyway, thankfully but am really really worried now.
Off to google.

Joannezipan · 15/04/2011 22:34

Hola ladies, how are you all doing today? Sorry for the lack of posts I have been in London all day running a project start up meeting - or standing by a flip chart writing all day - ankles are now HUGE! Oh and I felt guilty all the way home on the train for making someone give up the priority seat for me as they then had to stand up for an hour...but no way i could do it.

nurse glad to hear you are on maternity no that i'm Envy at all :o
knackered glad you have removed your inner blockage!
jasmine good news about the DH attempting to get home...at least you can get the cot down in time - just don't lose any of the bits or you'll get caught! ;)

I thought you might all be interested in this www.katysays.com/2011/03/07/when-push-comes-to-shove/ it popped up on another thread and looked interesting...not sure i'm physically capable of doing some of the squatting things she says about though, but it makes sense to do some alignment work i suppose - i hope i can be bothered and it's not to late! :o

Right i'm going to run now - bed time and I have to be up early to prep for the in-law visit...Hmm Have a good weekend y'all.

NurseSunshine · 15/04/2011 22:46

OK, on googling and IMing my student MW friend it seems that the most common cause of UTIs is E coli, which is naturally present around the vagina/anus, whereas I'd always associated it with food poisoning. So I do have a UTI caused by E coli, rather than, as I immediately jumped to the conclusion, the baby had some awful infection some how and was going to die.

And UTIs only cause problems when left untreated for a long time which obviously mine hasn't been as it would've been picked up at the previous MW app.

So, off to the doc on monday, get a course of antibiotics and all will be well! phew!

Joannezipan · 15/04/2011 22:52

Hi nurse sorry think I x-posted with you before. Glad you have got to be bottom of it (no pun intended!), and all you need is some antibiotics. Also it is good to know they actually do something with all those urine samples...i always wondered where they whisk them away to!

crazychic141187 · 16/04/2011 00:35

My midwife never sends my urine sample away just sticks one of those little test sticks in and says yeh that's ok!

Had my results back from the doctor today about my blood and it's improved slightly which is good news and no cause for concern! Yay! Got to have he blood test repeated in a month but hey at least that's some good news for a change! No new news about dp coming out yet but the fingers are still crossed that he's allowed out of bed tomorrow! He might even be allowed his catheter out but apparently his little man is purple from the bruising bless him!

DaisyFields · 16/04/2011 01:46

Glad he's on the mend Crazy.

Grrrrr.... Just rolled over to get comfy and brushed DP's elbow with my hand. Cue him sitting bolt upright and demanding to know why I just pinched him! I bloody hope he was sleep talking (he did give up ranting and go back to sleep pretty quick) but now I'm wide awake Angry.

I think I might go and raid the fridge. There's definitely a mullerice with my name on in there.

Oh, and TTL I'm certain the rumbling tummy was a coincidence (or maybe her elbow had been resting on a pocket of trapped wind!)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/04/2011 08:05

Joannezipan - what a great link!

Nurse - I think they would have contacted you sooner if there was any major concerns, but I can understand you being worried. I found this info for you and it is quite reassuring. I think you would only need to worry if it was a very severe infection, and if you are feeling okay in yourself you probably only have a mild case.

sasamaxx · 16/04/2011 09:56

Thanks for the link Joannezipan - working my way through it but loads of great stuff Smile

Sorry about your UTI nurse - try not to worry I'm sure it will clear up in no time.

Kara not the same thing as your DH's sales conference, but we also arranged something for a few days before EDD - tickets to see the Wiggles in concert - and I'll be really upset if I miss it Grin
See what has happened to my life???

motherofsnortpigs · 16/04/2011 11:04

Man, if I were to miss out on Henry the Octopus, I'd be gutted too sasa

NurseSunshine · 16/04/2011 11:47

Thanks for that Kara :)

Crazy they would only send your urine to the lab if their urinalysis showed something dodgy.

Has anyone heard from Moomin? Hope she, Mr Moomin and Florence are all well.

Hope everyone's having a lovely relaxed saturday :)

sasamaxx · 16/04/2011 11:57

Or Anthony's smiley face motherofsnortpigs Grin

motherofsnortpigs · 16/04/2011 12:46

lol sasa Who needs Take That?

Merlion · 16/04/2011 12:58

Jasmine so pleased to hear of DH's imminent return.

Crazy seems things finally on the up. Hope you get some good news re DH getting out soon.

Mine still breech too but the doctor said there is still plenty of time for her to turn. I have another scan on Tuesday so will see what that brings.

I woke DH up last night as I got a terrible cramp in my calf - he thought I was having contractions Grin as he was in such a deep sleep and I suddenly started crying out with pain.

takethatlady · 16/04/2011 13:26

motherofsnortpigs I need Take That!

My tickets are in the post, but I've sold them on Viagogo for pram money (the date of the concert was 2nd July, and the baby is due 26th June so I figured it was unlikely I'd be able to go). So I have to send them straight away to the buyer :(

I know having a baby is much more exciting than going to see Take That. But it's Take That! Back with Robbie! I've been to every tour since 1994, including two Mark Owen tours (yes, he did them Grin). I have told DH that I deserve a present for cooking his child, and that that present should be tickets to see Take That in May. But he thinks going to Sunderland/Manchester when I'm 8 months pregnant is a stupid idea, especially as I will scream and may cry. And he's gone all stingy at the moment. We took out a loan to move and now we're not moving we're going to give half of it back. But I think we should sort out some bits on our house (double glazing to replace three rotting windows, or a new roof for our woodwormy asbestos-ridden outhouse so we can use it as a utility room - our kitchen is 5 feet square, no kidding). He says no, we should save up.

He is right. But I am stubborn. Not sure who'll win. If he consents to Take That, I might give up on the outhouse Grin

jasmine51 · 16/04/2011 14:09

TTL My friend just sent a circular email offering 2 TT tickets at Wembley on 4th July for sale...that'll be the 2 I reserved then had to cancel...v sad now. I could technically still go if DS arrives on time or early and DH grows breasts Hmm

Last building project started today and should actually be finished in the one day so more painting for me tomorrow then a couple of weeks and the other ongoing construction should be finished..weee, I've forgotten what dust free food tastes like!

I have a question - LO is not moving very much at all today. If I prod him hard enough I can prompt some small fluttery kicks but otherwise if there is any movement it's just minor stretching. Feeling around, there is an awful lot of baby in there and I think he might have turned backwards so his limbs are towards my spine - would that cushion movement? If I went all paranoid and popped along to the DAU what would they check apart from just listening to the hb and saying 'yup he's still alive in there'...do they do any more sophisticated checking?

NurseSunshine · 16/04/2011 14:18

Have you done the "drinking ice cold drink and lying on side" things Jasmine? I would imagine the if he was facing your back and kicking your spine then you'd feel it less but if you're in any way concerned then go and get it checked (what's DAU btw?). Better to feel a bit silly for worrying over nothing than stress about it :)

jasmine51 · 16/04/2011 14:34

Nurse I have big plans for a cornetto experiment later but I'm pretty sure I'm right re facing the back as I can detect movement, it just seems a bit muffled and I'm uncomfortable in a slightly different way to normal if that makes sense? DAU = Day Assessment Unit - its annexed to the high risk pg unit in my hosp and is the best place to head to for quick attention rather than the general delivery suite.

DH is defo home on Weds by the way. Will be home til beginning of August give or take a couple of weeks on a course somewhere in the middle. Am off out this afternoon to buy some new pillows for him since I've comandeered all his old ones to construct my nest every night!

NurseSunshine · 16/04/2011 14:39

That's great news about DH :) And great that you'll have him around for quite a while after the baby's birth. Very pleased for you.
