HI everyone, I know it is very early but I got a very faint positve line this morning, and another at lunch, and another at tea time! Was not due AF till Thurs but was meant to be going for a proceedure that involved radiation tomorrow so needed to do checks and here I am, and there I will not be! I have already got 2 and not told OH yet but need to tell somebody! Anyone else yet?

Welcome bean . Its normal to feel scared even when the baby is planned for. If you have any specific fears you can write them down and discuss them with your midwife/GP. You can also post on here. You get good support. My MW told me she has a few first time mums that are in their late 40s. I am the same age as you btw.

Thank you, I'm still in shock I think, even though it wasn;t a total accident! Its like it is beginning to sink in and I am terrified. I just keep crying at the mo and don;t feel excited, just overwhelmed. I have no idea what to expect, its all so new to me. Reading these posts, I can see its more normal than I thought. I was worried it was just me. I wonder if I have made a mistake...just a bit of a mess just now. Will probably feel better as things progress..

It'll sink in and reality will take over..until about a fortnight before the birth and the unsettling nerves kick in again. Then you have your bundle of joy :) the first 8 weeks and the last 4 weeks I think personally are the worst, the rest are fabulous :)

Jan9ne · 11/04/2011 19:01

Missgiraffe1 you are lucky that they offer you an early scan following ectopic. I had an ectopic and they won't scan early here - they just say any bleeding or pain go to A&E or go privately. Nice.

Glad i am not the only one with no symptoms - just a bit tired and feel bloated.

Really missing wine....Wine

xstitch · 11/04/2011 19:04

Shock jan Now that would tempt me to lie.

Jan9ne · 11/04/2011 19:13

indeedy xstitch....

jomouse · 11/04/2011 19:38

Oh today I am so TIRED...and the spots are, quite frankly, out of control. Everything else all good. I hear it's common to get ms this week. I so hope I don't!
I have booked early preg scan for this week. Will let you how it goes. I hope everyone is well and getting through the days ok

Welcome bean! From the little I know, I think/hope it's normal to panic. Everytime I think about the birth bit I totally freak out. It absolutely terrifies me.

Missgiraffe1 · 11/04/2011 19:53

Jan9ne sorry to hear that. We've got a good EPU here. At least an early scan gives you some reassurance that baby's in the right place. Seems wrong to have you wait until 12 weeks.
Best wishes.

adalle · 11/04/2011 21:43

One thing I haven't grasped yet what is the plus on weeks pg eg 5 weeks + ? is it something you get told?

Thanks for all the congrats folks, love mn and all the stuff I have had to learn about a topic I never thought about before amazing how a BFP focuses the mind! X

xstitch · 11/04/2011 21:48

Is the number of days adalle. so if you were 5 weeks pregnant yesterday the you would be 5+ today IYSWIM.

xstitch · 11/04/2011 21:48

I mean 5+1 sorry about typo.

adalle · 11/04/2011 22:42

Jan9ne · 11/04/2011 23:18

Got very light mucusy faint-pinkish discharge just now when i wiped. Feeling v worried. Anyone else had this??

kat2504 · 12/04/2011 05:59

Yes I had some last Saturday but it only lasted half a day and was very light and then went back to white again. Was worried too but can't do much about it. If you are past six weeks you could have a scan, but so long as it isn't proper red bleeding I don't think they count it as an urgent need.
There are so many annoying and worrying things in these early weeks! If it continues past today or gets worse then give the epu a call.

Jan9ne · 12/04/2011 07:55

Thanks Kat, seems to have calmed down. Stopped seeing any on the tissue soon after posting last night. Had terrible night tho - up every hour to go to the loo. Shattered now plus my IBS is playing up due to the anxiety - oh happy day! Sound like a right old hypochondriac - i really am not - this pg's stopping my rationality!

You're right about going to epu - no point at all as i am under six weeks plus i certainly don't fancy hanging around for hours waiting to have my bloods done.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 12/04/2011 08:59

hello all - and welcome to all the new BFPs over the weekend

I panicked every day the first few weeks when I got my BFP with DS, so def totally normal! Am panicking occasionally about this one but for totally different reason (coming from a place of knowledge!) btu also muhc calmer.

Also, those without any symptoms, I didn't get anything at all until 9 weeks with DS, then just mild cramps and very mild nausea til about 13 weeks, gone by 2pm every day.

This time I feel like throwing up all day long, was actually sick on SUnday I think just from running around too much!

FleeBee · 12/04/2011 09:35

Hi everyone and all the new people.

I'm also very spotty and very tired. Fell asleep on the sofa about 8.30pm last night and then went to bed at 10.30pm and slept right through to morning. Probably more sleep than my own children!

I understand about the panic as the fear of the unknown can be huge. My midwife was fabulous at calming me down, and reassuring me, but now I've moved not sure what the midwife team is like here. Will find out soon.

Hope everyone is doing OK and where did my sunshine go? Very cold in Lancashire today Booo!!!

Tjuice · 12/04/2011 11:24

hi everyone!

hey bean - I can sympathize...Maybe I'm a little immature but when I got pregnant at 33, I felt quite young to be having a baby! Even now, I sometime feel like a 'pretend' parent and someone will come along and ask "have you got a license for that child?" ;)
I actually think it quite shocking to have a certain kind of life for years and years and then, boom!...suddenly you're on a different trajectory. But you do get your head around it and life is definitely not over.

For me, a lot of my uncertainty was around my lack of maternalness. I'd never really been around kids that much and was not a cootchy-coo type of person at all. But the truth is there's no right or wrong way of doing the parenting thing.
(I realised that AFTER I stopped reading the books, going to too many baby classes and also took a long mumsnet hiatus ;)

Anyway, I felt so shite this morning, I called my doctor and she recommended some antihistamine that stops nausea. May have to try it tomorrow. I wonder when the jig will be up with my coworkers - there are so many tell-tale signs - I wander around with a bottle of ginger ale in meetings, have weird wrist bands on covering my sickness bands, can't eat in the canteen with everyone else (the collective smell is soooo boke-worthy!) have a cluster-"?#! of coldsores and suck on mints all the time.

LoveACuppaTea · 12/04/2011 17:08

Hello hows everyone doing today? I've decided I'm going to keep a diary so I'm going to go to asda and get a nice big notebook that I can put things in... eg. symptoms/belly photos/scan photos and just day to day being pregnantness!

I'm 6 weeks on thursday so really its the perfect time to start!

PS no sickness yet still. boobs ARE GOING TO EXPLODE!! I kid you not im considering sticking a pin in them just to deflate them a bit! Geez-O!

Hi ladies - can I join in?

I'm not quite sure I believe it, but I got a BFP yesterday, and I'm still in denial!

This is my second time around so I recognised the sore boobs and tiredness - but the spotty skin is all new to me!

I am very excited but very cautious at the same time - I'm 41 so really concerned about all the health risks - it was bad enough last time when I was 37 and I was treated like a little old lady by all the medical staff!

Ah well - look forward to comparing symptoms and bumps along the journey!

Lizkin · 12/04/2011 18:51

Evening all,

Sorry I haven't posted, thanks for your comments and encouragements on having two kids so close together. Part of me is just keeping my eyes closed and hoping it will all work out (actually I think all of me is doing that!)

Talking of sickness - I think mine is coming on, was fine till this afternoon and then started regretting the fried egg and beef sandwich (which was lovely at the time...) now want dry biscuits and tonic water!!!

Last time round I felt sick all day every day from this point (6 weeks) onwards for 5 weeks, then it started easing off and by 13/14 weeks I felt fine again. Hoping it won't be quite that bad but not expecting any miracles this time.

Welcome to Bighty Moosh and Strawberries!

Lizkin · 12/04/2011 18:53

Oh yeah and the tiredness has hit me too - another one here who went to bed when my baby did last night! Yawn, better go now too!
