Raspberry leaf Brew and Biscuit all round.

Continuation from here. No Mofo C bombs yet been dropped in the delivery room although our first 2 babies have arrived. Congrats to gormers and Jo, we hope your little ones are still doing great.

Congratulations Jaylar! pleased to hear that the homebirth went well :) and welcome to a very bonny sounding Archer!

kittycatcat · 12/04/2011 15:35

Lis hmm not sure. So you could have the sweep the day you go out? How far is your hosp from the venue? Could you postpone the sweep? What if your waters go in the venue?

I am delighted to have somehow got everything in the yummy mummy hospital bag. Except my camera but thats a dslr so has its own bag which i can throw any extra bits i need in. Whoop.

We have a wedding Sunday so will be going out with the hosp bag and car seat just in case, but it will still be 11 days til my due date.

Really excited cos my mum is coming for a visit saturday. you might remember i had to cancel a visit cos she got MRSA. She now has the all clear and her op has been rebooked for May 19th. She was offered April 19th but turned it down to avoid missing kittens birth.

LisMcA · 12/04/2011 15:52

Glasgow is about 30 miles away on the M8. Would take about half an hour to get back if anything happened.

Parking could be a nightmare there, but if we got there in plenty of time, should be too bad. Alternative is train and taxi from the station.

I'm talking myself out of this now!

lucielooo · 12/04/2011 16:02

Lis can you definitely get the sweep that day? and also is there anyone who you'd give the ticket to if you couldn't make it? I'm of the philosophy to carry on as normal as long as you don't mind giving the ticket over to someone else?

ecuse · 12/04/2011 16:03

Jaylar - congratulations, sounds amazing!!!
Lis - go, it'll probably bring on labour. It takes forever to have a baby anyway, so you might as well be having fun in the interim. Consider it the equivalent of my DP who lights a cigarette at the bus stop to bring the bus along...

architien · 12/04/2011 16:07

Oh Lis go to it with your huge bag in the boot just in case, really the worse that could happen is that you'd end up at a Glasgow hospital if you couldn't manage to wait 45mins max to get up the road (or you miss it as baby had already arrived in the days inbetween), on the other hand you're more likely to just have a lovely time!

I'm going to read through al the posts I've missed...we're getting close to capacity again!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/04/2011 16:17

Jaylar - Many congratulations on the arrival of Archer, the homebirth you wanted too

I have a feeling this one is going to be a 10 pounder too, seeing his brothers were both 9lb+ it is a distinct possibility Grin

Go Lis, put the case in your car just incase so you feel you've got all bases covered. 80% of first time births go overdue, so it is more likely that you won't have the baby - even if you have a sweep as that will only work if your body was ready to do it by itself anyway. In these late stages, take evenings out with just you and dh when you can get them as it will be a while before you can do it again Smile

I've just seen the MW who dropped off the birth box and reported this ones head is down, fixed and 3/5 palpable. A great improvement on last week when he wasn't even slightly enagaged - hurrah!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/04/2011 16:19

She also left a 'what to do sheet' for dh incase of a precipitous birth (as ds2 was so unexpectedly quick). I'll scare the shit out of him with that later Grin

SaltedPretzels · 12/04/2011 16:49

Lis Are you seriously considering passing up an opportunity to laugh yourself into labour, your crazy, go have a good giggle and when your waters go look forward to the complimentary tickets to pop on your doormat with the box set! Grin

I'm due today, so far this week, tomorrow is the only day at home without a plan. I've been wandering the fells (not far) I have been given a TENS from physio and now I haven't used my crutches for a week it's magic Smile

Jaylar How wonderful your home birth as you wanted, congratulations on your determination and a wonderful son with a very cute name Grin

Oh wow, I've just had a call from the Inlaws they have booked into a hotel near us for a week with a view to a fortnight, they will be taking us for dinner tonight, wow! They live in Epsom so I didn't expect a call from them to say were stuck in traffic on the M6, surprise!

Oh now I'm real happy may have to have a bounce on the Yoda ball oh.....Grin DH has made a new rule for the ball, I can use it anytime as long as I wear one of our group rock climbing helmets ha ha ha, I look a right div! Grin

SaltedPretzels · 12/04/2011 17:02

Kitty I have three bags, one for labour, one for baby and one for me afterwards.

MrsWajs 3rd baby but I still find it an odd thought to show my bits to my MW for the sweep which they have booked for 8 days time. It's been nice and chatty informal, fully clothed meetings so far with the most exposed being the bump for the heartbeat check and measurements. I think of them as friends now so it's a bit off putting thinking they may see lots more of me than I'd like! Silly I know but still Smile The hospital MW are different you don't know what they had for dinner last night nor anything about them so it's not like a friend seeing your bits Smile
You made me laugh about saving sex for when it's worth it ha ha x

LisMcA · 12/04/2011 17:11

Ok ladies you have convinced me, if not DH that Peter Kay will be a good thing. Have said to friend we will take the tickets! BTW the tickets belonged to my friend on had baby on Friday.

SP I am secretly hoping my waters go as its one of those stories we can dine out on for ages! Like our wedding when my dress didn't fit the day before and dressmaker had to stay up all night to alter it back, DH was in car accident on the way to the venue, his dad was taken away from reception in an ambulance and I lost my engagment ring the night beofre! Nothing ever goes smoothly for us, so why should having a baby be any different!! :o

PS I like the sound of the PPE on the yoda ball!! Surprised a bump protector hasn't been deployed!!

JustKeepSwimming · 12/04/2011 17:18

Lis - should be a definite that you'll have baby before the show then if your friend did! You need to find another waiting mum-to-be to pass them onto Grin

Had a nice nap earlier, everything feels really slow and DH keeps saying to do less, not sure that's possible Hmm!

I know my fave MW is on duty tonight, think that will help bring on labour....?!

frakyouveryverymuch · 12/04/2011 18:27

Ladies thoughts please - am in hospital, baby fine, tiny pathetic contractions BUT that rib pain has doctors flapping as it's now both sides and really rather ouchy. Have had ECG, waiting for consultant anaesthetist to have a gander (no idea why) but might be kept in although I really, really don't want to be and deliberately didn't pack any of my stuff. So a tad tense here mostly because they don't know what's up, although it's me, not the baby!

Lis go see Peter Kay! You might end up becoming part if his routine if you go into labour because you laugh so hard!

JustKeepSwimming · 12/04/2011 18:30

Oh Frakk - thinking of you. Hope it eases/they find what it is asap.
and you get to go home to get your bags!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/04/2011 18:34

My thoughts will be with you Frakk, good luck. Contractions - good. Rib pain - ouch. Hope they get to the bottom of it all xxx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/04/2011 18:36

We haven't heard from kitstwins today. Oooooooooooooohhhhhh, do you reckon there's another baby?

JKS - that convo you had with your dh sounds just like what my dh keeps saying to me. Lordy, if I go any slower I'll stop!

Petalouda · 12/04/2011 18:37

Oh no Frak - hope they find it's something innocuous pretty quickly.

JenAT · 12/04/2011 18:45

Frak thinking of you. I suspect you saying it's really rather ouchy, means that its actually pretty painful. I would think they are getting the anaesthetist to have a look at you because they would be more used to dealing with medical causes of pain rather than obstetric or gynae causes IYSWIM. So they probably want him/her to check over the ecg, listen into your chest, suggest any further tests that may help in finding a diagnosis etc, and probably more for reassurance that they are not missing anything.
Try to relax, I know it's not easy. Keep us updated.

kittycatcat · 12/04/2011 19:14

oh frak thinking of you. Keep us posted.

SarahJinx · 12/04/2011 19:45

Ditto all of the above Frakk thinking of you

lucielooo · 12/04/2011 19:59

Thinking of you frak, hope all's ok - keep us posted if you can x

kitstwins · 12/04/2011 21:52

Quick post. I had a baby boy yesterday. VBAC never happened as I got to hospital with fast & furious contractions but heavy meconium in waters. Baby's heartrate high but dipping after each contraction and no movement. Consultant said emergency c section which I agreed with (something didn't feel right) and thank God he did as it got bumped to Grade One emergency just as they started cutting as his heartrate was all over the place. Unfortunately he came out not breathing so we had crash paeds called and a horrible five minutes before he was intubated & rushed off to NICU. It was dreadful and not expected. They have since discovered he has an infection (still waiting for culture results to determine which one) and they also suspect he inhaled meconium. His brain scan has shown no bleeds though and he came out of NICU into HDU today, which feels like massive progress.

For all the horror I feel really elated that I got to try labour. And the c section wasn't what I wanted but thank God for it. And for all the nightmare afterwards, the actual op was heaps better than with the girls.

Anyway, good luck to all still waiting and congratulations to Jaylar on your lovely homebirth.

Must go and express. Weird to be in the realms of feeding tubes again with a full term baby. Not what I envisaged at all but I've come to the conclusion I just don't do simple births. Which is fine, as categorically this is my last. I'm just going to enjoy my lovely, peachy-skinned little boy.

kittycatcat · 12/04/2011 22:02

Goodness kits glad u and your baby boy are ok. What have u called him? Hugs x

JenAT · 12/04/2011 22:08

Kits congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. How traumatic for you, but glad to hear he is out of NICU. Look after yourself and give him an extra cuddle from all of us April mummies and mummies to be.

Liv77 · 12/04/2011 22:14

Congratulations Kits, Good luck with the expressing and hope all goes well and he's out of HDU soon.

Good luck Frak
