Poppet45 My second daughter was born the day before my birthday. I got so many comments about how it was a pity she couldn't be a birthday present and all I could think of "No, I'm quite happy to have it over with beforehand, thank you!".

bump Welcome, hope the food and rest gets you back on track! It's always difficult when it seems everything is happening at once.

No egg butties for me, my appetite is so finicky right now, I just want smoothies! Makes sense for me, I lives on chocolate milk with my eldest Blush.

Katiebeau · 30/03/2011 23:35

Hello Everyone. I'm just catching up from some time away. Welcome to all the new people.

Laabama - so so sorry to read your news. Take care and let us know how you are getting on. xxxxx

Thanks for all the constipation advice. Lactulose not any use! Been taking for 10 days. Thks for the tips on fruit in syrup. I'll try that next time.

I say next time as I ate a piece of pumpernickle bread. 4 hrs later and several trips - all clear (TMI!!!)

But I feel so much better and my tummy is back down to a little round now.

I would love a crispy bacon butty on unhealthy white bread.

goldmaple · 31/03/2011 05:24

mrsarch Happy Birthday!!

Welcome bumpsandisacsmum! Sorry to hear that you have a lot of stress right now:( Love the fact that your DS is very excited about being an older brother!! its very sweet

mrsgasman I don't have BV but i get recurring bladder infections so I have just been taking an antibiotic after sex everytime (for 7 months before being pg). Now I'm really worried about getting one and having to take Antibiotics in 1st trimester:( but i think for the most part it doesn't do any harm... but still fearful (poor DH as you can imagine)

Can we add sushi to the party list?! Used to LOVE it... can't stomach anything right now anyways but I'm assuming we are all going to be feeling great at this party (ms not invited) :)

I had my scan today and the bean measures 8 weeks, so right on track. Saw the HB, it was really amazing. its so small to be making me soo sick.

goldmaple · 31/03/2011 05:37

And I have to add... I hope someone is bringing a cure for heartburn to the party!! Feel like my throat's on fire!!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 31/03/2011 06:44

Morning ladies,

welcome to all the newbies :)

I have been feeling so much better yesterday after some really bleurghy days, although am still struggling to want to eat healthy food, just dont seem to fancy eating it and want junk food instead, but am trying my best to make sure that I do and I think that might be why I have been feeling a little better. Terribly gassy though!!!

Can I have a blue steak? Love my meat and there doesnt seem much point having a steak if it's cooked to death :(

CazandBelle · 31/03/2011 07:13

Morning ladies...

Wow I missed a lot yesterday! I obviously need to check more often during the day!

My boobs seem to have got enormous in the last day or so - they are quite sore this morning. Sickness is getting worse by the day too; yesterday half way through my parents evening at work I was ushering a parent out the door knowing I didn't have long before I could stop it anymore! Thankfully I got to the bathrooms intime! Counting down the days to my next lie in, which probably won't be until Tuesday; it doesn't seem so bad when the mornings are slow. I'm already running late this morning, but as soon as I start the getting ready for work rush I feel even worse again. Mornings, mid afternoon and if I've stayed up too late seem to be the worst times at the moment.

dee I'm annoyed for you about your midwife. I'm Consultant care too but the community midwife was lovely to me this week and said I can see her as much as I like inbetween my 4 weekly consultant appointments... isn't it odd how different people/areas do things so differently.

Right off to do the "what on earth am I going to wear today" thing. I'll be breaking the maternity clothes out before long; as soon as I'm brave enough too.

cep · 31/03/2011 07:36

morning all.

with all this talk of egg and bacon butties, had to have one this morning. ironically it was after being sick.....so waiting now to see if i bring it backup. (sorry tmi)

had a weird dream last night not horrid just bloody weird, but still vivid.

cep · 31/03/2011 07:38

caz i had to start wearing my casual mat trousers yesterday as my jeans were just too tight. unfortunately they're new and aren't over the bump which i prefer so i've got the adjustable sides and the buttons feel sharp and keep digging in my side and is really quite painful. they'e not tight, they're on the fourth hole if i have them any looser they fall down. I think i'm going to have to modify them.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 31/03/2011 08:31

Thanks you for your birthday wishes and I'm having a lovely day so far, despite DD wanting to open all my presents :)

I'm bringing blue cheese and rare steak to the party!

Although I have to admit that I will still be eating sushi and dim sum throughout this pg.
There are very few things you can't eat tbh. Fresh fish is fine, even if it's raw and dim sum is cooked so no worries there. It's only raw shellfish that's a no no (eg oysters).
We love sushi, Yo Sushi is a regular treat and DD had her first sushi at 6m old!
We also go to an amazing chinese restaurant that specilaises in dim sum. Nom nom.

Ah well, better get up and get ready.

Hope people don't suffer too much from MS.

Poppet45 · 31/03/2011 09:50

Goldmaple can I place a bet now that your DC has lots of lovely dark hair when born.... everyone I know with heartburn when preggers has a baby with a wee mop of hair when born! And wherabouts in Canada are you? I lived in Vancouver for a couple of years... just stunning!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 31/03/2011 11:36

Second the comment re heartburn. I was drinking gaviscon by the bucketload with DD and she came out with hair and it grew incredibly fast!

Katiebeau · 31/03/2011 12:40

3rd comment re heartburn. I had necked several gallons of gaviscon by the time I gave birth, DD had only a tiny covering of hair and still doesn't have much at 2!!! My Mum was gutted - she was determined I would give birth to a fur ball. I fail to understand how a hairy head rammed in my pelvis could cause heartburn.......

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 13:41

Happy Birthday, MrsA!Grin

Had awful heartburn on ds4 and yes, big mop of hair! Think he's still on my profile.

smilingcl · 31/03/2011 13:44

I'm holiday today and have just been and bought myself a new bra and it is BLISS.

I've gone from a B to a C so I was wearing a no underwire flimsy pink piece of nothing and my achy boobs were bouncing around all over the place. Now I've got a snug stretchy sportsbra type things recommended by the nice lady in the shop. It's like they're finally being looked after...

It's funny that I've told more strangers about being pregnant than friends - yoga teacher, lady in bra shop, doctor etc.

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 14:29

smiling, I ended up telling the Mums in ds3's reading group in school. I just hadn't been able to keep up with his extra homework and really didn't want them to think I was just useless.Blush

Also told the lady in Monsoon when looking for a bump-disguising dress because I didn't want her to think I was just fat!

glitternanny · 31/03/2011 14:36

waves can I join pls!

Due 15th just waiting on my first mw appointment!!
I don't feel different, but I am only 7 weeks?!?

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 14:46

Welcome, glitternanny!Grin

Envy at no symptoms! Sounds just dandy to me!

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 31/03/2011 15:26

MrsA I will also be eating all the things you aren't supposed to throughout pregnancy, because I don't think anything much does any harm really. Did you read this? That's what convinced me that my yummy baked camembert wouldn't do me or the bean any harm. Welcome to all the newbies, congrats to those with good news, and sorry to anyone with bad. I'm having a tough time keeping up with this thread, but I'm still trying!

Can I have a nice fondue with beer in it, and sausages, bacon and veggie sticks to dip in it for our party?

Flowerydems · 31/03/2011 16:07

Hi, can I join too?

I'm due on the 7th of Nov... I think, wasn't very accurate and this was all a big surprise. A great one though :)

alicat10 · 31/03/2011 16:49

Welcome Glitternanny and Flowerydems

Glitternanny - with my 1st I had so few symptoms I was convinced I'd had a false positive and was even telling the consultant this when I went for my 12 week scan but he showed me the bean and it was really real - enjoy it while it lasts! (I went on to find that I couldn't really face food at all until about 20 weeks)

suziechan · 31/03/2011 17:01

Hello Glitternanny and Flowerydems and anyone else I've missed off...sorry I've been awol for a while.

Lizzy that article is an eye opener! thanks for posting. i was just starting to miss a bit of brie....!

MrsA Happy birthday!!! hope you have a lovely day!

Hope everyone's well...actually I'm after a bit of advice, I'm at home with the worst MS I've ever had. I can't even face water (and you can't get any more bland than that!) Does anyone have any tips? I'm a little concerned I'm going to get dehydrated, especially as I'm being put off water! I've been sipping diluted squash but even that's an effort...

Anyway enough moaning. Hope you're all doing well and not suffering as much! x

ImBrian · 31/03/2011 17:24

I had no ms with my first either, was sick physically but felt better after with dd2 then with dd3 felt sick all day but was never actually sick! This ones been making me feel sick on and off but then today Ive felt awful and done a fair amount of dry heaving so who knows how its going to go this time around.

goldmaple · 31/03/2011 18:32

Hi flowers and glitternanny

suzie sounds like you feel as good as I do. On a bad day I try to drink juice when I can... that way I get some sugar with water. not sure what else to do... except take a vitamin to make up for everything being missed. Sometimes i can think of one certain food that I could maybe eat and take the vit with that. If you throw up everyday you should see your GP i think for dehydration.

poppet hope baby has lots of hair if I have to go through this:) think I might have to start drinking gaviscon. I am in Calgary (by Banff) very pretty here too, but weather isn't that great... would like spring to come

Can I please get some of you ladies who are not first timers to say that the ms really does end after the first 12 weeks? I am counting down the days and will need to prepare myself if its going to last.

Does anyone know where 3rdtime went? Haven't seen her post in a while.

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 18:35

suzie, that is not just average morning sickness, that sounds like hyperemesis or coming close to it.

It may be worth seeing your GP and perhaps getting something to help control the vomiting? There are drugs which are safe to take in pregnancy.

Would sucking ice-cubes help?

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 18:36

Oh, I have found taking Vitamin B6 does help with the sickness.

I had MS up to 16 weeks with ds1 but it was only bad up to 12 weeks, then it got much more bearable.
