laabama so sorry to hear your news:(

clipclop yay for HB!

Have been feeling really sick again (after it leveling off for a few days) but I find eating every 1-2 hours helps a bit. Very intrigued to hear that most ladies have had biigger boobs long after having a baby. Had it in my head that they deflat or something...

Have my dating scan tommorrow at 6:30 (Canada time:)) Very excited. Really hope everything is okay.

Hope everyone feels good tomorrow!

chipmonkey · 30/03/2011 10:20

Dh actually commented on my boobs the other day. And ds4 has started to look at them and prod them! Hmm He still remembers being bf though.
HAve to make an appointment for my nuchal scan today. Am very nervous about it. Got a great result with ds4 1:2000 but am three years older now.......

cep · 30/03/2011 10:42

morning all. had horrid mc dream last night, woke up thinking i'd lost the bean.

otherwise not to bad, still tired although ds slept through till 5:30 put him back in bed and he seems to have fallen back to sleep. so yay.

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 11:35

Morning all,

Sorry I've not been around much the last few days.

Laabama, sorry to hear your sad news, I hope you're getting lots of rest and are giving yourself an easy time xx

Clipclop glad the scan went well, one more step closer!

Caz thats lovely news that the midwife is being so supportive, I bet thats a huge reassurance for you?

Truff hope today isn't too stressful for you, and that you get a well deserved rest soon!

Cep I've had some dreams like that. I have really vivid dreams anyway but they're usually lovely, I have a whole town in my dreams that I could give you directions around but have never been anywhere like it in real life!
but I've been having some horrid ones lately, about the baby Sad
Think I did when pregnant with DS aswell.

Am I the only one who still hasn't seen the GP?
I finally called yesterday, no appointments, called this morning, no appointments... its ridiculous.
They open at 8.15, I called 11times and got the busy tone, got through on the 12th try at 8.23, no appointments left! Crazy!
Gonna call this afternoon and ask them for the number for the midwives and then at least I can tell the midwives I'm here!
Its annoying because last October when I went to the GP he said congratulations, handed me some bits of paper with pregnancy does and don'ts on and told me to get the phone number for the midwives from reception and call them myself.
Here I am trying to get an app with GP when he's just going to say the same thing! Might aswell just jump straight to midwives!

cep · 30/03/2011 12:09

wuzz would definately bypass the gp and go direct to the midwife.

MrsGasMan · 30/03/2011 12:29

Hi everyone, can I join? According to my maths I will be due 28/11, so very early days here.

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up, and congrats to you all.

I am really frustrated at the moment. Have been told by the docs they don't want to see me until 10 weeks for my booking appointment, but this is my first pregnancy and i have no idea what i'm doing!

Went to see GP anyway a couple of days ago, as (previously) very mild asthma has got very bad, and I am off work today with a horrible cold and a cough that is making me physically sick. He just said basically I couldn't take anything (including my inhaler) and I was just gonna have to live with it. So I'm off work today, which is a nightmare as have a very busy job (doesn't everyone!) and am feeling very sorry for myself!

To top it all off, for the last few years I have had reoccuring bacterial vaginosis (TMI sorry! Blush), and he said he doesn't really think he should give me antibiotics as 1st trimester obviously, but it can cause mc, and increases the risk of having a pre-term birth by 30%! Very confused and worried, have made an appointment to see a female doc next Tuesday but am worrying myself silly.

Anyway sorry for the long post, I have been loitering and you all seem so lovely I thought I would share my (small) woes! Hope you're all having good days!

chipmonkey · 30/03/2011 12:40

Welcome MrsGM!Grin

But goodness, you are having a terrible time! I would definitely seek another opinion, a lot of GPs can be overly conservative when it comes to prescribing for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

deemented · 30/03/2011 12:53

MrsA - it was me who mentioned the GD. Looks like i'm going to have fun with it this time too. I ended up on insulin last time as for the life of me i just couldn't control my blood sugars.

So, on Monday my MW asked me to keep taking my BS and get back to her if they were above 8. On Monday eve they were 12.2, Yesterday before dinner they were 13.8 and this morning before breakfast they were 9.8. That's not good. I've spoke to her again and i'm waiting for her to get back to me. She's ringing the GD midwife who looked after me last time and it looks likely they'll want to see me in clinic. I have to make an appointment with my doctor in the morning though and see what she says.

MrsGasMan · 30/03/2011 13:11

Thanks Chip!Smile

I know I'm lucky really - a cough and a cold is nothing to moan about! Just very concerned about the BV. Will have a look see if there are any specific threads on here about it.

Had never thought about how worrying this all would be, in these sloooow weeks waiting for scans!

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 13:12

Hi MrsGasMan, come on in...
Sounds like you're having a really hard time of it?
I think if it was me I'd want to see a different Dr, doesn't sound like the last one was any use at all!
Work will still be there tomorrow, give yourself an easy time today and relax Smile

Dee, hope you get an app sorted soon, and they can help you start to control it. Sounds very complicated, goes right over my head! Confused Grin

rightontime · 30/03/2011 13:28

Welcome cassandra and MrsGM Not sure why your GP would say you can't have your inhaler. Its a pretty important thing if you have asthma. I am on 3rd pregnancy and have taken brown and blue inhalers throughout. Both my boys are fine and were overdue with good birth weights. Antibiotics I do think they need to be more cautious with but I would seek a second opinion if you are suffering a lot.

I had very strong antibiotics via a drip when I was about 4/5 weeks pg with DS1 and I didn't know. I also had a GA and all was fine so medication doesn't have to mean the worst. Although I would avoid antibiotics if possible personally.

dee Hope that you can get your BS under control soon. Don't know much about GD but hope you don't have too bad a time with it.

Wuzz that Dr's sounds awful. Can't you make an appt a few days in advance? At my surgery you can make an appt for any time although I had to wait 2 weeks to see the GP I wanted. I know of another local surgery where the receptionist can't make you an appt, you have to wait for a Dr to call you back, listen to your symptoms and then they decide whether you are allowed an appt. I think I must be very lucky with mine.

Cep I have started having bad dreams relating to the baby too. Usually it has been born and I am neglecting it or left it somewhere. A couple of days ago I dreamt that someone had stolen it. Sad

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 13:52

The annoying part is, my GP is lovely, he knows DH is away, he knows about my MCs. When I told him I was pregnant he laughed and said 'you weren't going to do it the easier way were you!?' (I'd talked to him about getting pregnant before DH went away), its just getting to see him thats the drama!

MrsGasMan · 30/03/2011 14:05

Wuzz my GPs is like that too! although got lucky this week as they had a cancellation, but the really good GPs are just impossible to see.

righton, i just ignored what he said about my inhaler - i'm on a very low dose brown one, and only take it once a day, so i went ahead and took it anyway as if i let it get out of control i will only end up having to have stronger stuff down the line.

Cep i too have had bad dreams about MC.

Hopefully when I get a second opinion about the BV they will tell me the risks of having it are lower than the risks of having antibiotics, as i really don't want to take them either. Not even touched paracetomol this week - will take some if I have to, but want to be at death's door first!!

Poppet45 · 30/03/2011 14:20

I'm sure I took a course of antibiotics for a urinary tract infection in the first trimester with DS, amoxicillen or something like that? The question is whether there are any effective ABs against BV that are safe in pregnancy. I hope you get sorted soon, it is a long time to the scans when you're worrying. TBH though so long as your taking your folic acid, not going out on benders and chainsmoking and trying to eat healthly you should be okay until the booking appointment. There's lots of good info online about what you can and can't eat.
As for me my morning sickness seems to be two days on two days off. So today I feel blee, still haven't actually been sick though so know I've got it mild. But I am only 6+3.
I've had some of those horrid dreams where you think you're losing the bean, they seem to have stopped now. Now however my boobs are in agony because of feeding DS - I really want to feed him til two, but that's in another five months time, so who knows. Ouch though.

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 14:57

I just noticed I'd been turfed off the stats thread! Sad
Back on there now though. And noticed I'm still the only one for a EDD 19th!

chipmonkey · 30/03/2011 15:03

Ah, well, you see, Wuzz, some of us thought that, you know, your behaviour at that party was a bit -ahem- inappropriate and we felt that given the circumstances, that perhaps you'd be , er, more comfortable on a stats thread for, er, less respectable ladies.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 30/03/2011 15:04

Oh dee that sounds like high BSs - poor you but not your fault. Honestly, I'm sure some hcps think women just sit and stuff their faces with chocolate. Hope it gets sorted out.

Welcome MrsGas, sorry you're having a tough time too and as it's your first it must all feel a bit strange. I have a demanding job bit once I found out I was pg, my motivation kind of slipped. I keep thinking, this time next year I'll still be on mat leave with a 4 month old!

My GP's surgery is quite good. You can only get a GP appt if you phone up on the day but if you log into their booking system online, you can select an appt up to 36 hrs in advance.

Went round Asda on the way to work to pick up some bits and felt really queasy on the way round. Wasn't sick but haven't felt queasy in a while.
Anyone else still doing hpt? Grin
I have about 12 internet cheapies left and as the intention this will be my last pg, I'm still POAS for England! The lines have got progressively darker though.

KnitterInTheNW · 30/03/2011 15:17

If it's any consolation Deemented, I'm type 1 diabetic (diagnosed age 3) and my blood sugars are all over the shop. I'm on about triple the insulin I was just a few weeks ago before I got pg, and nothing's making any sense. I saw the diabetic antenatal team at the hospital earlier this afternoon, and they couldn't believe how much extra insulin I'm needing to take, so early on. Think I'll have to reduce it a bit again, as I've been going low over the last couple of days. Pg hormones mess with blood sugars and insulin, so they don't work the same way they did before pg, and it makes it really hard to get them properly controlled, at the time when you really really need them to be!

Scans booked for April 20th (at 9+3) and May 10th (at 12+2).

I've felt sick the last couple of afternoons, but not this afternoon yet.

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 15:51

I've brought this in as a nice afternoon snack for everyone.... but no one is to let Chip have any... Wink

I'm impeccably behaved at parties these days... on account of I never gets to go to any... Sad

Its my birthday on Sunday and DH isn't here and none of my friends have mentioned doing anything.... I want a party!!

Can we have one here....?

dirgeinvegas · 30/03/2011 16:05

Yes! Let's have a party for wuzz

Welcome new people, posting from my phone so this is a mini post until later.

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 16:09
Grin Yeah! A birthday party!!!

And its Mothers Day... I said to DS 'What are you going to buy me for Mothers Day?' he smiled and me, raised his eyebrows and said 'What are you going to get me for little boys day?'

knockedupagain · 30/03/2011 17:01

Wuzz that looks really delicious! Am feeling sick right now as I've eaten too much chocolate, and am really wishing I'd had fruit salad. Luckily BS not a problem for me. It must be hellish to have to cope with. [sympathy emoticon]

Welcome to MrsG!

I hope you enjoy your birthday Wuzz. I refused to have my 50th birthday when it came. The kids were supposed to take me out to dinner, but I wouldn't go. I was so sure I'd lost the bean 3 days earlier that I banned them from saying Happy Birthday, or giving me any cards or presents. 50 is the cut off for fertility treatment, and I just couldn't celebrate that. I told then I'd have my birthday a few days late on the Saturday, when I wasn't feeling quite so raw, and in the event it was a great celebration as a scan on the Thursday had shown a heartbeat!

I've not had vivid dreams since early pregnancy. I dreamt I was trying to feed the baby by tipping the edge of a can of coke into the poor hungry thing's mouth. Not surprisingly, it wasn't working too well, and the baby was getting upset. In the dream I was feeling guilty, as it was the third time that day I'd fed it coke. I was thinking "Really must make up some formula for this babe". Which is odd, as I've always BF in any case. I'd just read the post about a dream where a baby was left on a book case for a week that day, so that must have set me off!

lktoday5 · 30/03/2011 17:55
  • now seriously, I LOVE a party as much as the next girl but NOTHING FITS!! Oh lordy, this could be a long 7 months!

Girls, I thought I would share some good news. Had my booking in appointment today and when I shared last weeks experience with the doctor the two midwives (one student) actually gasped. They were luvverly (well you know, I am in the West Country) and apart from taking far too much blood, which meant I was knocked out and had to have a nap, it was all good. AND they took my bicornuate thingy seriously and didnt try to fob me off. So am feeling much happier.

Now, if I could just sort the crazy dreams, carb cravings, and bring DP home for a cuddle all would be well with the world.

Also, I seem to have forgotten my manners so

lktoday5 · 30/03/2011 17:56

oh, and I forgot to say, have been dreading Sunday as my mum died on New Years Day but my best friend (and mother to my god daughter) phoned and said 'how about we celebrate god mothers and mothers to be'. So dinner at hers it is (even if it is 3.5 hours away!) Smile

WuzzAndBuddy · 30/03/2011 17:56

We've just had dinner... I had 2 jacket potatoes with beans and grated cheddar, cucumber, ham, beetroot and mozzarella. Absolutely. Stuffed.
Was delicious.

Oh at least you celebrated in the end KnockedUp, with even more reason to hey!? Grin

I'm feeling a bit grumpy about my birthday to be honest. I know if DH was here we'd probably just go out for lunch and he'd take me shopping or something, nothing too adventurous but just the fact that he's so far away, don't even know if he'll be able to call Sad
Will have to celebrate when he gets back.
I'll be just 12wks when he gets back so we've decided to wait til then to tell everyone about our little R&R baby so thats something to look forward to and keep me happy!
