Hi, I asked both the Nct teacher and the midwife and they said the maternity Tens machines are all much the same. Lloyds pharmacy have one which is available to buy online for £30. I went into the Lloyds in Selfridges to look at it but they didn't have it and the woman tried to sell me a different one for £200! Needless to say I'm thinking I'll just take my chances and order one online.

I'm so tired this week as I've had a chest cold and asthma. The poor baby was very active when I had to take lots of asthma medicine! Starting to feel better now thank goodness

Ever since my holiday my Spd has been much better - was definitely worth it for that. It came back a bit when I got back to my terraced house and commute but still better than before - I'm a much happier less grumpy person now :-)

Sorry not to namecheck but writing this on my phone and too tired to remember names/news.

Jbrd I hired mine from mothercare last time. I'm sure it has the same '3 weeks before' timescale but mine arrived at least 4 weeks before. I was also quite late returning it (DH tidied up while I was in hospital and binned all the packaging) and didn't get any additional charges. I'll hire from mothercare again... if they let me! Grin

Ok, so quick post as am using phone and at my parents... so, since my Chiro apt on Monday I have been feeling a lot more comfy regarding the spd and thus have been doing more walking etc.. now coincidence or not but last night noticed my feet and ankles were a bit puffy and they feel a little stiff this morning...

So, do I keep active to help circulation but have feet up when resting? Do I get some lovely flight socks or what? Didn't notice this last time so no real idea what to do...

Am I only one finding this? Is 32 weeks early to be getting this? Paranoid as Gtt tomorrow..

New moon is only a day after my EDD, so that's okay. Mind you, if everyone else in the area goes into labour at the same time we'll all be delivering in the waiting room ... and that wouldn't be good!

Cazzr - my feet and ankles have also started to swell up in the last couple of weeks. I'm now in flight compression socks most of the time, and they really help!

Re tens machine I have the Lloyds one and someone has donated the Elle one to me. The Elle one has a separate boost button - most important, plus, it uses a dial to up the power. It's worth asking around other mums to see if they have one sitting in a drawer. I bought new pads for it, £5 delivered from eBay.

My back is no better, despite paying £40 a time for physio - she seems to be clutching at straws and seems to have made it worse as I now have a trapped nerve in my shoulder! I'm going to try massage and/or chiropractor instead. It's so rubbish when people take money who don't know what they're doing!

Loving the 'Buddabellies' yoga dvd - recommend it.

At last, the baby's head is down :)

Brillo that's so crap. Those people need humiliating! In Madeira, the air stewardesses made us go to the front of the queue for the plane - that's how it should be!

I got a foot spa from Freecycle. My friend used one and didn't get any puffiness.

Hi ladies,

A v quick post from me re raspberry leaf tea. Thanks to whoever mentioned that H&B had a non-disgusting version - bought some today and it is actually palatable and its in their 1p sale offer as well so basically 2 boxes for the price of one. Not sure if it will do any good or not but am determined to get this one out on time :o

Back later for a proper read...

Am horizontal at the moment. Got very bad shooting pains at the bottom of bump. Called the delivery suite and they said to lie down, take some pain killers. They were worried enough to call back 30 minutes later.

More of a dull ache now. Wonder if it's just a tightening? Hmm

Why do they always ask if it's your first baby?

Cazzr: I think the advise is to elevate your feet where possible when sitting still and ankle rotations ect when you can. Mine where the same a few weeks ago but better now not stuck at my desk. Don't worry to much about the GTT it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be but take a good book for the wait.

Loopy: I loved the rugby yesterday! Not our ideal result but I lost my voice at one point jumping up and down at the Irish performance, little lady was kicking like crazy she must have been wondering what was going on!!

Sesame: I love my foot spa the DH got me for my birthday and it has been brilliant so also recommend them. Sorry your experience was not good and fingers crossed you can find someone who can help.

Yorkstar: hello, I have no experience with newborns or toddlers but I do know maternity leave has made everything feel better for me so I hope you enjoy it.

Totoros: nice to hear all going well, I think you started the 2 ww tread on conception in august :-)

iLove; I don't know but it always make me think is it because I am over reacting. I am on the sofa and have been all day as sorry if TMI but I have got really painful bit and swollen so feels like it's to big to be between my legs.

Cowboy house is not a very happy one at the moment. 2 friends and BIL have been sent to Libya so leave has come to an abrupt halt and no idea when they will be home. SIL gutted as they are waiting to start IVF so trying to be supportive but overly hormonal me just wants to cry.

Evening all! Just got back from new house about an hour ago - I've completely overdone it and now am laid here groaning with a hotwater bottle on my back, feeling sickly. It's just so hard to do nothing when there's so much to do. 3 full days of painting, sanding, filling and clwanung up has caught up with me at last. On the plus side, I know that the Bean is happy with me being busy, she's quiet all day - unfortunately she's awake all night though instead! Guess nesting instinct is kicking in to give me extra prebirth energy... Either that or blind panic!

Interesting that some of you have sickness back, I've been feeling travel sick more than usual so I guess that's a similar problem...

pistachio strange that you have had SPD during your periods in the past, I usually get very achey hips when I'm on, I hope that's not a warning sign.

ginger wench and kiwi girl hope you're feeling better now

loopymumsy thanks for top tip re: tens machine. I've tried to buy off eBay but keep being pipped at the last minute

yorkstar we're among the furthest on aren't we? I'm 34 weeks tom I think (due may 2nd). I start mat leave the day before you and similarly can't wait!

Hello totorus, welcome :)

Sorry I missed a couple of people/posts, am typing in my phone and got nervous about losing my post as it's happenned before.

ilove how're you doing now? IS it your first baby? Could they be Brackston Hicks? I don't think I've had any yet so don't have much idea what they'd be like

cowboy sorry you're feeling down and in pain. I'm always more emotional when I'm feeling unwell. Was their departure completely unexpected?

Tinwe I realised after having DS that I experienced SPD during my first two days of period, both at front and in hips.. Then I realised that I always HAD!! Just didn't realise and assumed it was period pain! LOL! Thankfully it wasn't as debilitating as SPD in pregnancy and at least I could take ibuprofen to help..:)

pistachio at 6ft 2, I don't even own a pair of stilletos and certainly wouldn't be able to walk in them if I did, so less risk of hurting myself that way! lol

sesame 1 vote here for chiro (mctimoney specifically). I wish I had gone to my chiro earlier than I did during this pregnancy. I've been going routinely for years for back problems but had been putting off going during pregnancy this time. Don't know why as I had treatment during my pregnancy with DS. Anyway, HUGE difference in my pain levels and mobility, too much probably as I think i've been doing too much as a result! Hey ho!

cowboy Know how you feel about the libya thing with friends/family in forces. My dad was in the army and my cousin (female) is also in army now and the weekends events have definitely been under much discussion and in our minds even if army side of things are not very involved, more air and navy. Will be hoping for a safe return for everyone involved.

Loopy/cowboy not so much worried about gtt as such as I had to have one last time too, it's more the negative side that I'm having it because of weight rather than because I have any symptoms etc... :/ Hey ho, another box to be ticked..
Feeling a bit better bout things in general, certainly no more tears but do feel a bit like I have a little grey cloud hanging over me waiting to hear about mw's chat with consultant mw. Part of me feels defiant about things, other part feels more fragile..
Went swimming today for more gentle exercise and feet don't feel so puffy tonight tho back feels a bit tired, probably from doing a 'version' of breast stroke/arching back whilst swimming and walking.
Anyone else feel like they have suddenly got a bigger bump? Assuming it's because baby has gone head down now but find i'm arching my back loads now to counteract the bump weight. mental note to suck in tummy muscles... after finding them Hmm

Regarding tens machines, I bought mine off ebay and just made sure there was a boost button for contractions. Ended up lending mine to 2 friends who said it was fab despite me not really getting on with it whilst in labour with DS. That said I think i left it too late to put it on when being induced (worried it would stop things kicking off or something.. like I should wait for it to hurt to beleive I was in labour b4 putting it on... WRONG!)
I plan to use it more this time prior to getting in the pool mental note to remember to take it off first.

Just finished my last Brew till tmoro lunchtime, just water for me now till then... oh and manky tasting lemon squash...

ilovemydog hope you are ok and that you can take things a bit easier for a while. Probably a pulled muscle but glad you phoned the labour ward to be safe. Seems I'm not the only one trying to do too much.. :) let us know how you get on..

cazz ugh I have swollen ankles too. In my office it's so warm at the moment, the air-con was supposed to be getting fixed but they've pushed it back; instead we're allowed to open the windows and it's only March! Last week to cope with it I took in Birkenstocks to wear while I'm there, but then at hometime it's difficult to put my shoes & socks back on 1. because of bump, 2. because in the heat I'm sure my feet have swollen up as well!

This evening I feel about ready to explode, DH made a superb roast dinner Grin
