Woow ms lucy! Congrats! Whos next?

QwertyQueen · 20/04/2011 11:25

oh congrats Mrslucy!!!

Yorkstar · 20/04/2011 12:14

ah huge congrats MsLucy great size for gestation.

39 weeks today - eek! :o

pissovski · 20/04/2011 13:20

Congrats mslucy :)

I am 38 weeks today and achey! been quiet busy last 2 days so maybe its that Confused

Ended up taking myself in for monitoring on Monday, as after a very wriggly weekend, everything went a bit quiet. Naturally when we got there and on the monitor, he perked up no end! Was livelier yesterday. The midwife i saw on monday wrote in my notes that i was '4/5ths above brim' so i shall have to see what happens at today's appt (which is in half an hour so i best get my bum into gear!)

Cazzr · 20/04/2011 13:36

ilove fyi, bravado body silk ones get a HUGE thumbs up from me!

mslucy congrats! Hope you have a lovely easter weekend with your family all together at last.

I wait eagerly for new posts from cowboy and vicbic, hope all is going well. Grin

Currently trying to keep DS entertained so can't chat long but in latest purchases I have aquired a 5 pack of totsbots easyfits AIO nappies from mothercare reduced to 30 quid from 72! They are classed as shop soiled as they didn't have all the packaging wth them and the tag to stop people opening hte bag for a look was broken, but they look fine and have to be washed anyway, so bargain me thinks.. Now after looking on nappylady I'm on the look out for bumbles and motherease airflows to copmpliment them. Already have terries and junior joy wraps from ds but never really got into it so thought some more shaped ones would help... Plan to do a bit of disposables and washables to start with to see how I get on but would like to do majority washables if I can make it work..
Currently looking on usednappies and cloth nappy tree but if anyone else can think of somewhere else to look I am very open to advice.

Oh and looks like little one has turned to LOA sortof. He seems inthe middle but kicks are on the right which is an improvement on before.. :)

Cazzr · 20/04/2011 15:13

hmm loopy noticed eco bumbles as a 5 pack for 15 quid brand new, any experience with the easypeasy site? Looks a bit odd in the web address bar when I follow the link to www.easypeasynappies.co.uk

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 20/04/2011 15:31

oh what a difference two days make. Was feeling all fine Monday, but today... felt miserable as soon as I woke up. Terrible sore hip, struggling to walk. Was throwing up this morning again. Been to see the midwife, first time they did my blood pressure, was 120/110. Third was was lower, been sent home to rest. Feeling pretty down today. Think its the heat.

Cazzr · 20/04/2011 16:01

OOO elf, yes, do rest. At my homebirth visit last week my bp was up a bit but not quite where yours is. I put mine down to feeling a bit anxious/wound up about her visit and it went higher by the end of the visit (she redid it to see if it was going to go down, lol). I expect being in pain and struggling to get to your appt did it.
I am finding the 'heat' hard going but then I do normally. Thing I hate recently is how much i'm sweating if I do anything other than sit down or potter around. It's gross. I remember sweating buckets after having DS, nice, so something else to 'look forwards to'! LOL

DS is going to spend the day with MIL tmoro and can see i'm going to be staying closer to home and chilling out a bit, take proper advantage of no DS!
Not been sleeping too bad the past couple of days (maybe due to baby turning to LOA?) but remember just how awful I felt after a rubbish nights sleep.
Take her advice, go back to bed (assuming you can? not sure if you have dc's?), read a book or watch a dvd and get your DH to buy you something nice for dinner, preferably with something extra yummy for afterwards! :)

brillopads · 20/04/2011 16:49

Bit bored/ restless today. 'Had' to wait in for the Virgin engineer- wifi problems which are now fixed. DH went into town to get some more paint for the LOs room, but I have a sneaky suspicion that he also might have done some 'other' shopping... it's my birthday on Saturday!

Finally placed a Tesco Direct order which we've been umming and aahing over for what feels like an age: including a gym/ "birthing" ball and a Baba Sling, only for my bank (Halifax!) to decline the transaction as they thought there was something dodgy about my mobile phone top-up the day before Hmm

Ok, will stick to my guns re homebirth. I wouldn't be devastated about having to transfer to hospital, I guess I just feel that I'd like to try HBing as there's no reason for me not too

Right, back to attempting to take up curtains for LOs room, thank goodness for Wonderweb hemming tape- might make me feel that I've actually Done something today

cazzr thanks for the recommendation re: Bravado Silk. I lived in Bravado tanks last time, but didn't find a good bra as found the cotton ones didn't have much support. Bet you're looking forward to a rest! DH took the kids out this afternoon so I could have a nap, and for some reason, there was a children's party a few doors down outside in the back garden Hmm. There aren't any kids a few doors down, so not quite sure what happened there...

Re: nappies. Don't forget the Council scheme, and check whether yours is participating. Our council changed the scheme for the better as with DS, it was a voucher per family, so couldn't use it as claimed for DD, but now it's a voucher per child which is good as got rid of all newborn stuff. I quite like sized nappies for a newborn....

cowboylover · 20/04/2011 18:30

Congratulations mslucy that is a good weight for his age and glad doing well.

bonkerz Sounds like a good plan with the home birth as it keeps your options open.

I went to the hospital and I am apparently having contractions but not dilating so they said as long as my waters don't break it's perfectly fine for it to go on like this for as long as it wants to! As soon as i get to 8 mins appart they stop again. As Loopy said, it's all in the right direction! In a strange way I am feeling better than I have in ages. Smile

MummyWilliams · 20/04/2011 18:39

cowboy so pleased to hear from you. Although, I did think that when we did it would be with a birth announcement. Stay positive, as you know, its all good.

xxx

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 20/04/2011 19:27

Cazzr - I rested up a bit in the afternoon and then went to pick DD up from the childminders, and took her to weatherspoons for tea. Just got back, given they messed the order up, and assumed that DD's dinner was a starter, so never came out with my main until I chased them up. Then they said they were bringing out the desserts and 20 mins later, still nothing, and a very frustrated DD. Never mind, back now. Got my feet up on the bouncy ball, next m/w appointment is on the 4th May.

Sorry everybody is suffering with the heat; I have always thought that pregnancy should be broken down into small chunks for the seasons, and women should be pregnant in the spring and the autumn, never the summer (too fricking hot) and never the winter (too scared about falling on ones arse on the ice!)

Rollercoasteryears · 20/04/2011 19:50

Congratulations mslucy - sorry to hear it's been rough but glad everything going well now. Did they put Max on one of those light machines for his jaundice? We had that with DS - he was readmitted at 5 days old and we had to stay in for 3 days - I hated every minute of him being on the machine and me being unable to hold him. Not long till you can bring yours home though!

Cowboy glad to hear you're feeling positive - it's good to remember that even stop/start contractions are helping towards the end goal!

Brillo I agree with Loopy's advice, keep your options open!

I'm getting impatient for baby to come now - but our house is filthy and our cleaner is coming tomorrow morning - I've told DH that if I go into labour overnight, the cleaner can clean round me in the birthing pool, there's no way I can handle bringing baby into the house as it currently stands!

jbells · 20/04/2011 20:16

Rollercoaster. Im very jelous of cleaner im so tempted to hire one just for a day to get housr all ship shape b4 baby arrives

Cowboy. Atleast u know your having contractions hopefully wont b long now u must b excitrd :)

Elf. Glad u managed to rest abit put your feet up tonite to (i know easier sed than done)

Brillo. My bank is always doing that so annoying

Ilove. Totaly engaged thats gud news hopefully it wont b long now :)

Loopy. Mmm.i also had fish and chips today.

I hav bin really achey today like menstrual cramps and very low down lower bk pain its constant tho and making me very uncomfortable. It may b just from me ova doing it the psstfew days tho. Today i hav made most of sun agen. I love this weather just wish i wasnt so fat and uncomfy and sweaty oh and had summer clothes that fit lol

hi to anyone ive missed

JBrd · 20/04/2011 20:23

Blimey, I've not been on Mumsnet for 2 days and tons of things have been happening! Looks as if it's all starting to happen now, do we need another thread soon...?

Congratulations mslucy, that's great news, and I hope you can all settle in at home soon!

37+2 now, feeling like a whale. Everything I do, I do at snail-speed now, I'm too big for anything else.
Went to visit a friend Monday/Tuesday, it was lovely to spend time with her and catch up. She's got 2 DC, and after 2 days with them, I think that having laminate floors in the nursery is the way to go (I've witnessed the dark side of potty training...Grin)! Will try to book them to be laid, but after speaking with the company today, it sounds as if the earliest they will be able to do it will be the week of/after my due date! Will have to discuss this with them...

Am still really busy - we painted the nursery last weekend (my DH is now nesting more than I am!), and I finished the skirting boards today. Painting skirting boards is maybe not the best thing to do when 9 months pregnant, my back is really sore now...
Also, I can't even get comfortable anymore just sitting in the garden, which is so annoying! Our garden furniture is so uncomfortable, and sitting on a blanket on the grass doesn't work either! Argh! I really hope the weather will also be nice after LO is born.

Right, better go and clear up the kitchen, am considering baking a cake, as some friends are coming round for coffee tomorrow. This whole 'putting your feet up' thing is overrated anyway, right?!

gingerwench · 20/04/2011 20:32

Congratulations mslucy and sorry to hear you had a tough time of it at first.

I'm just back from a hotel break (dinner, B&B followed by mum-to-be spa pamper package). Really nice way to start my official maternity leave and get me into a more relaxed frame of mind. Typical though the one night I've ever had away from DS and he chooses to sleep in! so instead of DH getting the 6am shout, DS didn't wake until 7:15. What's the betting he is back to 6am tomorrow hmmm?

Another MW appt tomorrow and I'll be 37 weeks but still not heard when the HB kit will be dropped off so I guess I had better follow that up asap.

Re the heat - I'm with everyone else feeling hot and sweaty and like jbells struggling with clothes. We are meeting a large group of friends on Sunday for an Easter lunch at a hotel. Honestly not sure what I can wear that won't be too hot and will actually cover me without looking a complete scruff-bag. I'm living in badly fitting maternity yoga style trousers and saggy vest tops! Most of my maternity clothes are barely covering the bump and verging on indecent. Buggered if I'm going to buy new clothes at this stage though.

Tomorrow I get to see my friend's new baby! Can't wait!

BizzeeBee · 20/04/2011 21:04

Congratulations mslucy.

I can't believe how much you are all chatting at the moment - it's hard to keep up. :)

Sorry to hear that lots of you are struggling in the heat. I'm OK so far, but I usually feel the cold, so I think I have a different starting point. I'm certainly feeling a lot hotter than usual. Anyway, it is going to chuck it down here all Easter weekend Angry while in the UK you are going to have a lovely weekend (Envy on behalf of my parents and sister who are leaving the nice British weather behind to visit me).

jbells it's the same for me re summer clothes that fit. I'm wearing the same few things now, but refusing to buy any more now.

ginger having a weekend away sounds like a fantastic way to start maternity leave - much better than my cleaning. Grin

JBrd mmm cake - yes putting your feet up is way over-rated, unless you have a nice piece of just made cake to eat! Wink

cowboy good to hear that you are feeling well!

loopy have you got some extra fish and chips for me? Just joking, I'm off chips this week - I had them three times last week!

I had some good news from the anesthetist at my appointment this morning. I thought it was going to be either epidural or nothing for pain relief, which is the usual situation here. I asked if she could offer me anything else for the pain and said gas and air which is very unusual (I chose the hospital because they are less rigid with options for birth than most hospitals here). I'm keen to avoid an epidural if possible, but wasn't sure I would get that far with nothing!

I'll be distracted with family visitors over the next few days, so don't get too excited if you don't hear from me for a few days. :)

GotArt · 20/04/2011 21:24

bookmarking... completely knackered here. Why is there no sleepy emoticon?

QwertyQueen · 21/04/2011 04:35

5am and can't sleep again ho hum yawn.
Nothing to report except that I am manically making dates to see friends before baby arrives.
Went to see the ultimate chick flick last night (no strings attached) and it was surprisingly really funny, so glad I went.... don't usually do chick flicks!
Looking forward to a long weekend, going to try and get DH to sit down and talk properly with me about the future of this relationship, I can't co-exist like this... although the one book I am reading says you should park most issues until after the baby is born!?
Sorry you are all suffering in the heat, although I am delighted it is finally getting cooler this side of the world!

OK, who is next?

linziluv · 21/04/2011 07:55

Hellooo! I struggle with name checking at the best of times but far too much has gone on so I won't bother!
I too am struggling with heat and clothing...living in DP's tshirts now! Would love to wear shorts/skirt but my cellulite ridden legs are hideous and I can't put the public through that! Grin
My midwife did home visit yesterday and brought my home birth box...tis all very exciting especially as a couple have already started dropping!! It hit home yesterday when she said next time I see you you'll be ready for birth! Now 35+6 and officially on mat leave now! Woo! I seem to have had a burst of energy these last few days but can't walk far without pains in my shins!
Oh yeah, social services have contacted to say they're not interested in me...no concerns at present so no conference!!
Good god...just got my mat notes out to see what was written...baby is 4/5ths engaged already!!
Holiday at my mums in wales next Sunday till Friday...hope the weather stays nice and hope I don't go into labour early.
Babies position has been cephalic since 27 weeks so looks like she's set to stay!
Whoever it was said about baby swing...don't bother...I had one with DS and used it twice....it just takes up loads of room!

Well I think that's about it for now! Will try and remember to check more regularly on here!
