Perpetuallypregnant · 18/04/2011 22:28

Well im still here, still losing gunky show stuff and having crampy feelings but nothing exciting.

Went to pack my hospital bags and realised I didnt have much [embarrassed] so had to do a mothercare run and buy a load of necessary crap (plus some cute clothes for yhe baby). Ended up with a swinging crib too which we assembled in the living room and is sitting there looking very cute! Easter hols here so I have 3 bored children plus a snotty baby to entertain. Great when I can hardly walk due to spd and have zero enthusiasm for anything other than sleeping. Bless them, feeling guilty but they have been very good really.
DH away tonight working so I get. Whole bed to myself yey!

Perpetuallypregnant · 18/04/2011 22:30

Loopy - thanks for the Bf info... v reassuring! had worried i would be physically unprepared, so can wipe that from my mind now!
Omnom - hi!!! 36 + 4 today and yes, am definitely super-bored... or at least I was until a doctor this morning said that due to the platelet count in my bloods it will be best to 'kick me off' tomorrow, as the pre eclampsia has.probably started to accelerate. i asked what that meant and he said he'd come back to tell me 'after clinic'... that was before 9am and he didn't return! one of.the midvives said.this evening that she presumes he meant.inducing me tomorrow, but who knows... was a bit teary earlier as just want to know what's happening and talk to someone about what it iinvolves, but they are run off their feet here and also appear to have lost my notes so i think i'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Vicbic · 18/04/2011 22:58

Cowboy - i was admitted to Hospital at 33+6 and they were v concerned that i have the steroids iinjections Loopy is referring to... mine needed to be given 12 hours apart and then needed time to take.effect, so as.Loopy says it is worth finding.out sooner rather than later...

kiwigirlinlondon · 18/04/2011 23:06

Wow, good luck cowboy, that's so exciting!

I am now on my third day of maternity leave and absolutely loving it. I'm surprisingly feeling really well - the lack of stressful colleagues, long days and no more commuting on packed tubes is much better. Feeling better even though I was ultra-busy the first 2 days getting the house ready for my baby shower on the weekend and wore myself out. We even got the nursery almost ready - I keep going in there just to look at it as it makes me really happy. Loved my baby shower too. The baby seems totally in position now so hopefully he can hold on a bit longer and give me more of a break (although the midwife laughed when I said that and told me it wasn't up to me).

I finally watched the breastfeeding program tonight and thought it was really good, although a few too many scary stories about it hurting for my liking.

Sorry to everyone not feeling so great. Hope it gets better soon

Cazzr · 19/04/2011 00:13

loopy etc... if cowboy is still due like me on 15th then we are 36+1 or 2 depending what side of midnight we are.. this should be ok right? Without steroids I mean? I assumed so but happy to be informed otherwise if I'm wrong?

How ya getting on cowboy?

cowboylover · 19/04/2011 00:30

I am still here and still the same, not getting more often but a bit more painful, so glad Mum is here.

I have not called the hospital yet but might do soon, thanks Loopy for the advise as I didnt think of that. I am 36+2 so not really expecting anything yet but at least I have a basic bag packed just incase.

Going to try to distract myself on here for a while and watching a silly film with my Mum now, got a serious case of the munchies! Smile

Bonkerz · 19/04/2011 07:49

oooooo do we have some immenent births??????

It wont be me next im sure :0( ;0)

Had a hectic couple of days. After posting on saturday I had another bad night and then on Sunday my son decided to have a major meltdown resulting in damage being caused to the house and also he was threatening to kill me and baby and chased me down stairs leaving me terrified of my 10 year old baby boy. Neighbour came round and was shocked it was DS and i had to call in my BIL who swiftly came and intervened and whisked DS off for the day which obviously left me feeling a complete failure!
DH was fab and came home from work and took over with kids and then my sister sorted out about spending whole day with her and BIL yesterday so they could do childcare (along with their 5 kids! LOL) but it did mean i just sat in a chair in a field all day so felt much better last night!
Kids stayed at their nanas last night and im heading out door to physio in about 20 mins.
Pains are very sporadic. normall i get them for about 45 minutes a day but its manageable. No more gunk although (TMI ALERT) DH and i (having no kids home last night) attempted to have sex which we havent done for weeks and we had to stop as he physically could not get inside me. He said it felt like there was no hole LMAO never had that problem before! LOL LOL it did actually hurt so he had to stop and i had pains after so wont be doing that again in a hurry! back is really niggly today but have midwife Thursday so will ask then for a check!!!!!
Roll on MAY 10th!

Morning all.

Well my wkend went well me and dp got on better than we hav done in a while so hopegully things r improving (fingers crossed) on sunday we went for around a 2 hr walk up.thurstaton hill and a picnic. I love this weather. I did however under estimate how difficult walking up a big hill wud be at 35 wks pregnant lol

yest wasnt so gud for sum reason my patience with dd was xtremly lacking feel bad as she was just being a normal 2 year old but i was really fed up dp was in birmingham so was away for nite and altho hes not normally bck from work till.afta 6 he always baths her and puts her to bed and i did miss that rest bite. I will try to b better today altho i didnt sleep great i neva do when im alone in house and was up 3 times for a wee. Yest i didnt get up once :( i hope the last month wont b spent up.and down to loo.

Well its a beautiful day so going to try and spend sum time outside and enjoy the sun god knows wot i hav to wear tho

bonkers. Dont feel like a failure i am struggling with just my 24 month dd its great that u have family that will cum round and help out tho :)

Loopy. Hope u feel better today and thanks for breastfeeding advice

cowboy. Gudluck if things hav developed hope your ok :)

Kiwi. I am very jelous of your matleave i cant wait to start properly enjoy :)

Yorkstar · 19/04/2011 08:51

Good luck Cowboy, i think Holly Willoughby?? had her little girl at just over 36 weeks and she was a healthy 5Ib 2. Im a little jealous the you are jumping the queue though :o

Perpetuallyp do you mind me asking which swing you have bought? Last time we had a fisherprice cradle swing which was my lifesaver but it about 5 hand and saw out it's last days with us. I am thinking of getting another one but they retail at about £100 and can't really justfiy spending that much. There are a couple on ebay but all pick up and not local to our area.

QwertyQueen · 19/04/2011 09:52

Bonkerz that must have been so upsetting for you... please don't blame yourself though, it is a hard set of circumstances...

loopy that you for all your advise - the FF make up advise seems very sensible. I BF excusively for ages and DS does have allergies, so that is interesting. I will probably also introduce a FF bottle fairly early on - if nothing else it is nice for DH to have responsibility of a feed! Maybe the dream feed?

jbells that def sounds like an improvement on the home front - and just in the nick of time!

My energy levels have hit the wall today, woke up at 5am with DS climbing into bed with us... then needed the loo so tried to shimmy down out the bed without waking him or DH and ended up with the most painful cramp in my leg I have ever had, luckily DH woke up and massaged it until it went away! Couldn't sleep after that tho.
And suddenly I have lots of work to do! Being self-employed is a nightmare - the whole way through this pregnancy I have been stressing wanting to get work done (paid for) and there was nothing, and now suddenly there is lots to do and all I feel up to is dozing on the sofa!

Update us, Cowboy!!!

runningmonkey · 19/04/2011 09:59

Ooh vicbic hope you have had some answers by now. Sounds v frustrating and I don't blame you for feeling emotional about it. Looking at it the other way though, how exciting that you might get to meet your lo today :o :o

bonkerz You are not a failure that sounds v difficult and scary for you. I also wondered if as you are nearing the due date your DS is noticing change and reacting accordingly? When I was pg with DD one of my students reacted in a similar way - he had ASD and got more and more difficult as I got nearer to mat leave culminating in thrown furniture and various other things :( Was heartbreaking for me as his teacher as we had had such a lovely rapport up to the point it became noticeable that I was pg - I can't begin to imagine managing it as a Mum. I know its not very Mumsnetty but I I hope you don't mind a from me and take all the family support and help you can for now. Keep reminding yourself that you don't have long to go.

perpetually must admit to :o at the thought of you not having things for your hosp bag as well. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was walking around the supermarket with leaking waters and contracting as she had literally nothing done for hers at 36+4!

omnom thanks for the reminder about the spork! I remember being v impressed with your description of it on our old A/N thread so am going to buy one now! Also, I found a raspberry tea by heath and heather (in H&B) which also has raspberry fruit in it so a little less boak inducing so I'm actually quite enjoying it!

mummyw I had forgotten the technique mentioned by Loopy re making up bottles so they are a little easier to cool - yes the key thing is that any potential bacteria in the milk powder are killed by the hot water. I do know that there is some debate about the actual risks involved as it appears some of the deaths due to contaminated powder have been in neonatal units or poorly babies (and it is v difficult to know if the equipment used in making the bottles is completely sterile too) so many people still argue for use the old cooled boiled water and then add powder technique - NOT advocating it however as obviously it is against guidelines!! As I was only on one bottle a day, we used the ready mixed stuff up to 6months as it is UHT so sterile but obviously it is a lot more expensive than the powders. I moved to powder at 6mo when weaning. There are quite a lot of threads over on the feeding board which I read and will try to find to link for you.

brillo congrats to your SIL - lovely name too :)

jbells glad you and dp are getting on a bit better although sorry you had a rubbish day today. I find I have days with lots of energy and do loads then struggle the next day too so hopefully if you are v tired today you'll sleep better tonight.

Well DD seems to have made a miraculous recovery - slept until 4.30 when she woke up and demanded a cuddle and a kiss from DH then went straight back to sleep until 6.30. Woke up and downed a massive drink of water and has been happy ever since :) Still off her food but managed to get her to have some jam on toast as a reward for having a tiny bit of her antib's - don't blame her for not wanting them - they smell awful! I also managed a solid 4.5 hour chunk of sleep last night after loads of pacing and restless legs and arms (! is this a pg first?!) so feel a bit better today. Baby is very low down and squirmy so I am v uncomfortable walking anywhere so another quiet day around the house for us I think.

Have had 3 phonecalls since starting this post so am hitting the button now! Hello to everyone else ilove, stiffy, pistachio, elf, cazzr, yorkstar, don'tworry and anyone else I've missed :)

runningmonkey · 19/04/2011 10:22

Aah remembered I have a question! I'm going to have 2 in nappies (cloth) for at least a few months so was wondering about change bags? I currently have this one in a different colour but by the time I've got a couple of nappies, spare set of clothes, drinks, snack and toy for DD it is pretty full so not sure it will cope with the demands of two... any recommendations ladies? something funky but not too girly so DH isn't embarassed by it would be good :)

oh vicbic GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
So exciting soon you will meet your little one.
Have goosebumps!

sesamesmith · 19/04/2011 11:27

Wow! It's like reading a novel every day on this thread!

Vicbic - so excited for you! Good luck!

One of my NCT group popped on Friday at 36+6. Less than 6 hours start to finish, from waters breaking. I'm so Envy. She was due only 5 days ahead of me...

Bonkerz - good luck coping with DS. It's very difficult and heartbreaking. My friend has a daughter with severe autism. Every day is a huge challenge. Somehow, she remains positive, thanks largely to a supportive husband, workplace & healthcare workers. Hopefully he'll be back on track once you're back to normal mummy shape.

Cowboy & Perpetually - sounds to be very soon if those cramps are anything to go by!

Cowboy - is it worth copying the info from the previous stats thread across to the new one? [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1046863-May-2011-Stats-not-Chat?msgid=24949518#24949518]

I've finally had a reasonable night's sleep, only three times awake thanks to back/side/liver/ribs/kicking/squirming pain, and DH taking DSS to see his gran. Amazing how different it feels with some sleep, hurrah. And maternity leave is so much nicer if you can get out in the sun for breakfast, in dressing gown, surrounded by furry felines, watching the tulips grow, cherry blossom fall, and hearing birds twitter. Three cheers for the sun!

MummyW - lots of sympathy! At least you know it will be over soon, unlike so many of us who wish it would be Envy

Good luck everyone - the next few weeks is going to be a roller-coaster ride for all of us!

cowboylover · 19/04/2011 11:47

bonkerz hope you have some time to relax today, sounds like a challenge so I really feel for you being so pregnant as well.

loopy the number /5 is how engaged the head is starting with free to 5/5 fully. Proud to answer a loopy question for the amount I have put your direction Smile

vicbic hope all goes well for you today and you will have your baby soon!

Last night the tightenings got stronger and more regular so we spoke to the MW who said to try getting some sleep and see how it goes so after a nice massage from DH I went to sleep and when I woke up they have stopped. Still a dull ache today and back ache so going to see what happens today. DH has gone to work so I have his managers mobile number as well to call if I need him to come home.

runningmonkey · 19/04/2011 12:37

vicbic ooh exciting :o As loopy says, stay as calm as you can and keep moving as much as you can to keep things going - I had 3 gels and several laps of the hospital that got me to waters popping stage!

loopy I'm planning to do a bit of all 3! Mainly double buggy but some sling/buggy action too I think. Prob won't go out without buggy though unless I get very hooked on slinging! LOL at the private bathroom time Wink As for the engaged thing - I think it means how much of the head they can feel - so 5/5 is all of it, 1/5 is way down in the pelvis. Had to google it after my last midwife appt :)
