Ooh vicbic hope you have had some answers by now. Sounds v frustrating and I don't blame you for feeling emotional about it. Looking at it the other way though, how exciting that you might get to meet your lo today :o :o
bonkerz You are not a failure that sounds v difficult and scary for you. I also wondered if as you are nearing the due date your DS is noticing change and reacting accordingly? When I was pg with DD one of my students reacted in a similar way - he had ASD and got more and more difficult as I got nearer to mat leave culminating in thrown furniture and various other things :( Was heartbreaking for me as his teacher as we had had such a lovely rapport up to the point it became noticeable that I was pg - I can't begin to imagine managing it as a Mum. I know its not very Mumsnetty but I I hope you don't mind a from me and take all the family support and help you can for now. Keep reminding yourself that you don't have long to go.
perpetually must admit to :o at the thought of you not having things for your hosp bag as well. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was walking around the supermarket with leaking waters and contracting as she had literally nothing done for hers at 36+4!
omnom thanks for the reminder about the spork! I remember being v impressed with your description of it on our old A/N thread so am going to buy one now! Also, I found a raspberry tea by heath and heather (in H&B) which also has raspberry fruit in it so a little less boak inducing so I'm actually quite enjoying it!
mummyw I had forgotten the technique mentioned by Loopy re making up bottles so they are a little easier to cool - yes the key thing is that any potential bacteria in the milk powder are killed by the hot water. I do know that there is some debate about the actual risks involved as it appears some of the deaths due to contaminated powder have been in neonatal units or poorly babies (and it is v difficult to know if the equipment used in making the bottles is completely sterile too) so many people still argue for use the old cooled boiled water and then add powder technique - NOT advocating it however as obviously it is against guidelines!! As I was only on one bottle a day, we used the ready mixed stuff up to 6months as it is UHT so sterile but obviously it is a lot more expensive than the powders. I moved to powder at 6mo when weaning. There are quite a lot of threads over on the feeding board which I read and will try to find to link for you.
brillo congrats to your SIL - lovely name too :)
jbells glad you and dp are getting on a bit better although sorry you had a rubbish day today. I find I have days with lots of energy and do loads then struggle the next day too so hopefully if you are v tired today you'll sleep better tonight.
Well DD seems to have made a miraculous recovery - slept until 4.30 when she woke up and demanded a cuddle and a kiss from DH then went straight back to sleep until 6.30. Woke up and downed a massive drink of water and has been happy ever since :) Still off her food but managed to get her to have some jam on toast as a reward for having a tiny bit of her antib's - don't blame her for not wanting them - they smell awful! I also managed a solid 4.5 hour chunk of sleep last night after loads of pacing and restless legs and arms (! is this a pg first?!) so feel a bit better today. Baby is very low down and squirmy so I am v uncomfortable walking anywhere so another quiet day around the house for us I think.
Have had 3 phonecalls since starting this post so am hitting the button now! Hello to everyone else ilove, stiffy, pistachio, elf, cazzr, yorkstar, don'tworry and anyone else I've missed :)
