Diege · 13/05/2011 14:18

Hello! Sorry I've been awol, work has been so busy this week.Sorry to hear about work worries CANT Sad; really hope the situation resolves itself. Looking forward to the 21st Smile
STAR, I wouldn't worry too much about a late af or even if you miss one. If you were stressed at the beginning of your cycle this might have delayed ovualation, and hence af, or it could be an annovulatory cycle (ie didn't ovulate) , all totally normal. Or you could of course be pregnant Grin
SES, sorry you're feeling rubbish but it is a great sign...still sicky here, but only being sick once a day now (usually in kitchen sink Blush). HOw many weeks are you now?
TINKs, happy birthday to your mum Smile
All fine here, although very tired with ds bad at nights and have started ther controlled crying which is slowly working. Had booking in with mw today - all ok, though some lukocytes (sp?) in urine which suggests an infection (I do have thrush). Also mw says I will have to have a section, and not a vbac due to the bandals ring seen during the last section. Am seeing the consultant on thurs, but from what she says they don't talke risks with bandals rings Sad. Anyway, I'd rather that than a general like last time!
Love to all x

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/05/2011 14:50

Diege- :( for needing another section as I knew you were really hoping for a vbac, but at least you will be more prepared for this section, I believe recovery is much easier with elcs. :) focus on the positives.

I'm looking forward to the 21st too! Dd1 keeps counting down the days till she dd's your dd3! DS is excited to show DH everything! Shall we eat there again like last time? It wasn't bad prices really.

bumpsnowjustplump · 13/05/2011 15:43

Star, I hope AF turns up soon (if thats what you want) or at least you find out where she has gone.

Diege I am so busy at work as well and it is really hard isn't it. I am really struggling being the main carer for my two, working evenings and weekends and being pregnant. But we really need the money so I just have to suck it up. Sorry about news of section, hope your meeting goes well.

Moosy I got your message on fb and yes please just let me know how much I owe you for basket and sling and postage xx

Cant glad your appointment went well and really hope you can make the london meet up will be good to see you again.

Diege · 13/05/2011 17:34

Thanks BUMPS and CANT. Section not the end of the world, and I'll see if I may be able to have a trial of labour first anyway. Agree BUMPS manic work sucks - just have to keep going though Sad. I've not been getting back until 7.30pm and leaving the house sometimes before 6am in the morning, and I think it's catching up on me. How are you feeling generally?
CANT, yes I think we'll get the food there as it was so reasonable and tasted nice Grin. I will def try for a 10am start as we have to leave at 3 at the latest due to dd2 having a party to go to at 5pm.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/05/2011 18:36

Well I think our train will get us in at lime st just after 10th. Will double check and let you know here.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/05/2011 19:10

Train gets in at lime street at 10.02am we'll most likely get a later train home than you, make a full day of it and have a picnic on the train home for our tea. Should work well for bed too, as getting a 5pm train would see us home at 7ish after a bus trip home too. :)

tinkbig · 13/05/2011 21:17

cantmummyhaveabreak · 15/05/2011 12:53

afternoon... having a pretty lazy day today... did a fair amount yesterday, including putting up a new shelf for the DC's tv in the dining/play room!!

Got a load of ebay listings ending today too... so got to package them all up tomorrow and get them posted... otherwise not much else going on here.

Getting excited for next weekend, seeing Diege & family again on sat followed by a fun day at holly farm with the kids on sunday hopefully- can't wait to feed the tiny calves again- soooo cute!!

I'm currently looking into chicken keeping too- wanting to get some eggs to hatch... thinking after our holiday at the earliest, possibly not too long after xmas so they can then go outside into their coop when it starts getting nicer in feb/march time... Initially I wanted to just get hens, but I think the whole hatching process and rearing from chicks will be fab for the DC's, and the chickens will hopefully not peck them etc as they'll be used to the DC's handeling them from birth. :) All v.exciting- and not only will it be a pet each for the kids but it'll give the DC's some 'responsibility' in going to collect eggs each day and helping clean out, and obviously i'll over-see everything. I think i'll be getting them a little wicker basket for eggs too- v.idilic!! Grin

hotcrossSES · 15/05/2011 20:35

Hello all!

Fairly lazy weekend here too. I'm still feeling sooo tired (5+5 today) and even went and had an afternoon nap today!

Cant - the chickens idea sounds lovely. My SIL has chickens and they're not as hard to look after as you'd think. Doesn't Sorky have some too?

Diege - I guess and ELCS sounds the best plan. I do wonder whether you should just go for that rather than try labour as the combination of labour and CS is the worst I think. Maybe depends on the liklihood of needing the CS (not trying to tell you what to do, just what came into my head!)

Bumps - hope you manage to find the energy you need for everything. Jiust being pg is exhausting, never mind with a job and DC!

tink - hope you had a lovely weekend with your mum?

Star & Giraffe - any news on missing AFs?

Starshinetiger · 15/05/2011 23:19

Hi Ses - glad you've had a lazy weekend and able to get a nap today. It is easy to forget the all-consuming tiredness of pregnancy and I'm sure it's worse once you had DC to look after as you can't just focus on yourself any more.
Can't - agree, chickens sounds brilliant. I bet your DC will really enjoy it.
Diege - sorry for news re. CSec. Must be disappointing to be told so early on in pg, but I guess at least you know where you stand already and see what happens with Consultant. You must be whacked with those long days - I am really in awe of you, 4 DC, pg, working long days - I struggle to keep on top of washing, ironing, etc with 2 and only working 3 days!
Tink - hope your DM had a lovely birthday - sounds like you had a lovely day planned on Sat.
Still no sign of AF here - app says 9 days late, I give my body the benefit of doubt and say 7 days late. Did remaining test this morning - BFN. So, shall see what happens when it should come this month and if nothing will go to GP. Hope it is that I just didn't ovulate (think I can be pretty sure in ruling out pg now), but I am a born worrier, so having been so regular for years, am just wondering what's going on.
Right, still got a bit of work to polish off, but was waiting for some files to download. Must get to bed before midnight...

GingerbreadGiraffe · 16/05/2011 08:56

Morning all
Ses- lazy w/e sounds lovely. - When do you have to speak to a MW in your area?

Cant -chickens sound good. They can be really tame, so I've heard.

Tink- hope you enjoyed saturday. Party sounds good too.

Star- sorry for no AF yet.... hope it shows or there is explanation soon.
I am also in constant awe of Diege Grin Blush

Having bad start to monday. I love the work I do but I am totally disillusioned today after finding out some information about work reviews that I shouldnt have known.

Some people who have been around at less time than me have got better ratings than me - They are probably doing top jobs (I know they are good) but I feel like i've worked so effing (!!) hard, at the expense of so much at family and friends and i feel that its not enough to move forward. ..... I literally dont have time or energy to do anything else any more out of work. .

I dont want to do it anymore, I want to be taking DD to park and playgroups. I dont see the point in working so hard that im beyond anything else.

Ho hum.- Hope it passes quickly. Or I might jump in car and get the SG and take her to the park :)

Sorry for me me me

PS- missing AF is accounted for just late.... phew! Not ready for that this month.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/05/2011 13:07

Hi ginger- not sure what you do for a job, but these kind of situations are sent to test us I'm sure... Can you afford to be a sahm? Would it be easy to go into the same line of work a few years down the line once you've had another dc and have them at school?... For me being a sahm is the best option, we'd be about £100 a month better off if I worked, but we'd spend very little time together ds a family, and if any of the dc's were ill etc DH couldn't have the day off so easily... I had already left my profession of hairdressing, was in a min wage job with no real prospects and no desire to stay there any longer than needed... So for us it was a clear option... However, with not really having much job experience before having dc's I run the risk of being stuck in a low-end min wage job for life once I go back to work...

Oops- rambled a bit there!

My diet it paying off!!! Have lost 4lb since Friday!!! If I keep it up I'm set to have lost about half a stone by weekend! Wuhoo! Living on half my regular calorie intake is making me feel constantly hungry tho... Small price to pay, and salad isn't too boring yet! :)

GingerbreadGiraffe · 16/05/2011 14:40

Hi Cant
thanks for you reply. 4lbs since last week is amazing- good going girl!!

The job I do is project work, with clients against tight deadlines. Its a very competitve environment and would be hard rejoin at the same level if I took a break. I cant be a SAHM from financial perspective sadly but could possibly be part time in future. I love what I do but loathe how we are assessed. I just need to get over it today. Think it was just made worse by DD asking to stay at home with me (am working at home today) and have breafast together. Drove back from nursery in fog of tears. Muppet that I am...

GYx

cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/05/2011 17:11

Oh dont get upset about it... DD would have got to nursery and forgotten all about asking to have breakfast together! Maybe treat yourselves to a nice tea together when she's home... Something to cheer you up and 'make up' for not having breakfast? :) I can recommend making mini pizza's together, always cheers us up, we use barmcakes, cut them in half and make each half into a pizza from a selection of topping... Only take 10mins in the oven too! :)

GingerbreadGiraffe · 16/05/2011 20:36

Thanks Cant- :) thats made me smile and a great idea. .. what is a barm cake!!?

In the end we came home and played her cars and ball, which is the latest favourite and then had lots of cuddles.... :)

tinkbig · 16/05/2011 21:21

dhs bday tom Grin

Starshinetiger · 16/05/2011 21:51

Evening all. Sorry you've had such a tough day Ginger. I don't think there is an right decision. Since I started working 3 days a week last September I work every Sunday night (my working days are Weds to Fri) and while I absolutely love my 2 extra days with the DC, I'm constantly tired and behind on all the housework. That's partly why I want to give up in the summer (although we'll be broke, but at least we will manage - not everyone has that choice I know). I'm only working now to put all my leftover salary After child are into our trip to Aus to see my DB. Everyone has their own choices and noone can make any judgments on others as noone knows the other person's situation. One thing I have found to help is that I don't actually remember lots from my early years, but what I do remember is equally fond of both my parents despite my Dad working long hours (I distinctly remember very fondly the "help" we used to try to give him to get ready for work - putting powder in his socks, etc) and that reassures me that the bond with your DC is about what you do with the time you have with them, not all about how much time (not that that's wrong either)... I guess you just go with what's comfortable for you. I got really upset about a comment a friend made about my plans on the weekend, soI know it's a difficult balance to strike. Sorry - not trying to preach, trying to offer helpful thoughts.
Of course, you could always try for DC2 now and take a break from work that way GrinWink
for my own reassurance I'm trying to focus more on the people at work who are successful who have older DC and took a break when they are younger.. It helps me. Also, I bet you are doing really well at work, you're just setting very high standards for yourself and I bet your rating is still good. Maybe being good rather than exceptional is fine when you've got DD so young still?
Ah, look at me waffling... I'm glad the end of your day has been much better.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/05/2011 22:04

Ginger- a grandad? Forgot its a northern word... Bread rolls, bap... Whatever you southerners call em. Grin

GingerbreadGiraffe · 17/05/2011 07:04

Morning all

Thanks Cant- I love that word :) better than breadroll. I had wondered if you meant english muffin, as I reckon they'd make a good pizza base split in half. :)

Star-Any sign of your AF?

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful words. Your plans sound spot on regarding saving for your trip etc. All your points are really valid about childhood memories. Maybe I worry about my memories of her childhood more than the other way around Blush !

It is interesting that being 3d/wk doesnt necessarily solve all the issues eg tiredness and housework backlog. I see 3 days as some kind of gold standard (for me personally). I think the truth is that grass is always appearing to be greener and both sides have their dried out dead spots! As it stands, I've got some serious help at home with house work and so Im mainly contending with tiredness now.

You also very perceptive Grin - You have struck the nail right on the head with the rating bit... and you are right, a good is ok at the moment. Only thing is that it wont get me promoted and thats what I really want so part time is more feasible after dc2 :) Re DC2..... still thinking about TTC in autumn now I think..... always a think... bet then I was like that about the SG :)

Diege · 17/05/2011 10:38

Nah barm cake is a bread roll, not an English muffin you posho GING Wink

Sorry to read about work woes GING but some great advice there from CANT and STAR. I think you should cut yourself some slack, and focus on how well you are actually doing. It is tough if you would genuinely prefer to stay at home (though remember this may well be a temporary thing related to how negatively you are feeling at the moment) and I really hope you are able to get through this and fine some way of resolving things. Would it be possible to talk to the person who did the review (though tricky)?
Hi CANT! Will check timetable and finalise things for sat - fingers crossed for no rain though just that short dash from the station to contend with!
Hi TINKS - is it dh's birthday today?
Big hi to everyone else. THis is our busiest time at work what with exam boards etc, so apologies for my continual awol-ing!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 17/05/2011 10:47

Morning.

Not up to much today, been up to tesco and got some more salad bits for my lunch and tea today. Prawn salad and ham salad on the cards... Lost another lb... Was upset with DH as I've worked out that I always loose a bit more when we have a gof... We didn't last night, so I may have lost more if he hadn't complained about being too tired! Hmm I've explained how much it means for him to 'help' me loose weight! :) seems I'm having swi for other reasons than pg! Haha!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 17/05/2011 10:54

Diege- we're getting the train that will get us in at 10.02am. Just cant decide if we should get the bus there or pay parking for a day in town... Cost is about the same, but bus takes longer to get there and back, but being just before 9 car parks will be busy with workers... 6 of one and half a dozen of the other! Will be bringing a picnic for on the train home. Kids are very excited! :)

Moosy · 17/05/2011 11:30

I spy with my little eye something exciting on LG&T's FB status updates.....
