I haven't done any classes and won't this time either. I like the jersey stretchy sheets, and I will be getting a rocker that reclines and has a firm back/base because then I can let babytwit sleep on it and not worry about his back.
Ummm.
Other LO's, I'm hoping that again this one will be born during a school day (preferrably a Tuesday or Thursday lol) that way childcare won't be an issue.
On the off chance it doesn't work out that way Wink I suspect some form of grandparent/friend combination will come into play.
Thanks to Eglu I now know I am 28 weeks today, yippee. I might be wrong but isn't that now officially The Third Trimester?

In 8 weeks from now I'd had ds1, and in 10 I'd had ds2.

Fab123 · 12/04/2011 12:03

Congrats Eglu - how does it feel being in the 3rd? I'm a day off being 26 weeks and already noticing my energy levels dropping off rapidly Shock.

Put up the cot yesterday. Probably should have waited but, seeing as I'm getting sleepier by the day I thought perhaps I should just get on with it. Of course, because there is no man about (never would have happened if there was one, of course!) the bloody thing had two holes only drilled halfway through on one side Angry. Yes, I double checked all other sides and it was definitely meant to have them. So I ended up having to bash through with a screwdriver (could have battled the wasps in the shed to get to the drill but couldn't be arsed) and finally got the thing up. It was so easy other than that bit though! Looks really good and am happy with it. At the risk of sounding cheap it was only £100 from Wilko's in their sale and has now sold out (was considering getting a replacement till I saw that online), so I am patting myself on the back for that little venture!

Feel a bit of a loose end today. Broke until the end of the month and feeling I should be doing something. Getting fidgety. Any suggestions? I did half clean the kitchen this morning and bought some logs in for the log basket...random huh?!

Pesha · 12/04/2011 14:11

Fab - I have an absolute ton of jobs here if you're still stuck for something to do?!

Ended up on the labour ward last night having had some very painful BH/contractions. I've been having some fairly ouchy pains but these were kneel on the floor and breathe through them jobs so had me a little worried! I have blood in my urine apparently so they think prob have a uti that could have irritated my uterus, have to wait for results to come back of urine test and a swab. They also did a peri-somethingorother which gives you your chance of going into labour in the next 7 days which came back negative. They were going to keep me in overnight but as I only live just round the corner I managed to come home and am ok now, still bit achey but no big pains which is good! DP was very inpressed by the room I was in though as it had a tv in the corner, he says I have to request that room again when I do go into labour, I said I'm not sure it really works that way!!

Was a bit of a wake up call though and have decided I really need to start buying things for my hospital bag and I really have to get up in the loft and get down all the boxes and black sacks of baby clothes and bits to sort through and see what I have and what I still need to buy. I had an email from Emma's diary yesterday telling me I need to start packing my hospital bag!! Will be 29 weeks on Thursday, it really is flying by at the moment.

SpannerPants · 13/04/2011 12:02

Pesha that sounds scary - hope you're feeling better now!

I think I've got all the big stuff, well it's on order if it's not physically here yet. I'm debating getting a co-sleeping cot but they're pretty expensive, has anyone else used one?

Want2bSupermum · 13/04/2011 14:55

Pesha - I would have your DH get things down from the loft. I am suprised they didn't put you on bed rest.

Time is indeed flying by. I had my obn appointment and the baby is measuring near to 4lb and is a little bit longer than average. The obn hasn't changed my dates but said they are going to do a 2nd sizing scan at 36 weeks in addition to the scan at 34 weeks as they might pull the baby out earlier at 37 or 38wks. That gives me 9 weeks to get 2 CPA exams taken, my annual review completed , get the baby room ready and for DH to finish up on his travels!

Was also surprised to learn that an overcooked baby is just as bad as a premature one. I always thought that the only reason they pulled them out at 42wks is because they get too big. The dr told me the reason they intervene is because the placenta starts to break down and the baby doesn't get enough oxygen. I never knew that.

Fab123 · 13/04/2011 16:38

That is interesting want2b I never knew that either! I think they induce at 40 weeks here though? I think in France it is 42 as well...

Pesha, if we lived closer I would be over and helping you out. I've been a bit stir crazy since the weekend as the only things I can do couldn't be done until a load of heavy furniture was moved. Thankfully a friend came over and helped with all of that today and tightened the legs on my kitchen table (which was becoming something I was considering rocking Pea to sleep on). So feel a lot more relaxed about everything now and can get on with the other bits and bobs :)

Also went for another bra fitting today and was pleasantly shocked to hear that I'm no longer even a 36D but a whopping 34F! I honestly never thought i'd see the day! If only I could tell my 14yr old self!

Hope everyone is well x

MadAboutTheBoys · 13/04/2011 19:39

Hi Ladies, is it ok if I come back to join you? Having started our very first thread I disappeared for a while when life was getting a bit stressful, but would love to join you all again if that's ok. I tried catching up on all the posts a while back but have sadly had to admit defeat, so hopefully will be able to catch up on all your news as I go.

For my part, negative stuff aside, have got ourselves our new family car so that we can fit all three carseats in and have at long last sold our house. I was hoping that we would be able to get moved before the birth, but I think that's now quite a longshot. It's all a bit disorientating though as I'm planning a homebirth.

The pregnancy itself is pretty uneventful. Just suffering some heatburn and have found out that I have an anterior placenta, which I've heard can lead to back to back labour, but my midwife thinks that's not such a problem if it's not a first baby, so hopefully she's right. Otherwise am just hoping for a calm few months to enjoy my last ever pregnancy and finally choose some names!

Looking forward to catching up with you all xx

nicolamumof3 · 13/04/2011 20:56

evening all, how is everyone today?

i had my first physio yday and it was really really helpful. The lady was lovely checked me all over and showed me lots of exercise. My belt is huge help.

cara2244 · 13/04/2011 21:41

Nicola that's good. I found the physio helpful too and have a list of qs for the next appt.
Am a bit of an emotional mess at the moment. I got really angry earlier about the state of the house as I can't keep up with the housework. Had a massive cry, which was met with zero sympathy from OH as he didn't want another baby and therefore has no sympathy for any pregnancy related ailments or stress (it was the same last time too). My OH then spent two hours grumpily cleaning. So then I felt guilty! I just seem to have so many things going round my head and nobody to talk to. Best mate is away traveling, closest mummy friend is about to pop herself and I'm avoiding people at work as I'm finding my job very stressful. Anyway that's enough self pity for one pregnancy!!

On a positive note, I now have a fabulous maternity wardrobe, thanks to an amazing ebay bundle and a few floaty tops from h and m and Tesco. I have possibly bought too much!!

cara2244 · 13/04/2011 21:44

Madabouttheboys welcome back. Have you had a home birth before? I had an unplanned one last time and hoping for a planned one this time, but no idea how feasible it Is, like whether there would be midwifes available etc, and knowing that births don't often go as planned!

I am being kicked so hard by this baby that I feel like I'm on board a ship. I think she may want to join one of the professional girls football teams I heard about on the radio this morning :)

firstsupermum · 13/04/2011 22:38

Hi all, hope every thing is ok with everyone, i dont look at MN a lot this days as my DS2years very active, i feel tired by the end of the day, but i will try to catch up with you.

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 06:31

Well, not feeling so great here either. I've got a stinking cold but can't take any decongestants so am worrying it's settling into my sinuses as (TMI alert) it's going a horrid bright green colour. I'm no stranger to sinus infections but I had hoped to avoid one whilst pg.

Secondly I have two patches of eczema by my eyes which I just can't shift no matter which of my hydrocortisones I use.

Thirdly, I went for my initial physio class yesterday thinking they'd say well done, you're doing so much better than last time and came away feeling like I did after my consultant's appt - totally deflated. I said what cons said re inducement again and she said whilst I was doing better, it was really a matter of time and then gave me crutches again. Not as treatment but as preventative apparently. I had to hide them in the car until I explained to the girls as last time I was only given them when I was crippled with pain so I didn't want them assuming I was now but had just been hiding it better, which they did anyway Sad

So it looks as though #4 will def be arriving mid July rather than in his own sweet time.

Of course, since they've said that, I now have a lot of pain in my pelvis. DH says (quite rightly, really) that it's probably phsychosomatic because I was so disappointed. I can deal with pain when I'm feeling good but when I'm a bit down it makes everything worse. So in reality it's probably no worse than this time yesterday - it just feels like it is, IYSWIM?

So anyway - time to leave the fast lane and move over into the slow lane until baby arrives.

Twit · 14/04/2011 11:03

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down, I agree that you cope with pain and all that goes with it better when you feel positive, when I've felt down I've been up at night because of the pain (stress related maybe being more tense?).

I'm measuring big (surprise surprise) and babytwit is transverse - which I thought. Not bothered just yet 'cos there's ages left;. SUrprisingly blood pressure is ok, DS1 (12) is being a complete arse at the moment, so much so that the stress is making me throw up again. Ah well.
I agree Pesha that you should be trying to take it easy for a bit, you must have been really scared. I hope you're ok.
Fab if you're really bored I have a spare 12 year old you can borrow Grin

Badgerwife · 14/04/2011 11:39

Hi all, I've not been here in a while.

I'm starting to be a bit bored with being pregnant, it feels like forever, and the thought of another three months of acid reflux... I know I'm having a completely uneventful pregnancy apart from the odd fainting, so I feel like a right old moaner, but gosh I wish it was over. Having heard that baby can be ready to pop anytime between 38 and 42 weeks is making me want to have gallons of red raspberry leaf tea and pineapple chunks ready to scoff in 12 weeks time to try and hurry it along. I'm starting to feel heavy and had a really bad stitch in the pelvic area yesterday, I could barely walk. It's lovely to see the baby kick though.

Not looking forward to moving in a couple of weeks either because of the sheer amount of work involved, although my contribution will likely only be cups of tea, lunch, the odd bit of cleaning and a lot of helpful advice on where to put the boxes... (oh, and maybe some unpacking at some point) It will change our life though, to live in a spacious house instead of a little flat. No more climbing over DH to get out of bed!

Twit · 14/04/2011 12:04

Agreed, am bored of this. (I did say I'd get bored about now though didn't I?) Not close enough to think I have to do this, this and this and start drinking raspeberry leaf tea etc etc which is when things are iminent (sp) and for most of us no more scans etc. All rather dull.
Still only some of a term left to go, or May & June with the rest of April depending on how you look at it. I am looking forward to 4th June 'cos I'm having my hair cut and coloured. Once that's done I'm ready. Wink

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 12:24

Def sinus infection so got antibiotics and canesten in reserve - deep joy! Interestingly, despite Shock from pharmacists, gp said it was better to take sudafed if I felt congested rather than not and end up with a full on infection (I'm not stranger to sinusitis you see). Also, said that taking either Loratidine or Cetirizine Hydrochloride was preferable to suffering with hayfever and that either was an 'old' enough drug to have been proved as not unsafe in pg.

I know what you mean about being bored. I usually love being pg, even with all the niggles I get but I am seriously wishing this one away and wanting the end to come sooner! I think it's partly that I'm feeling so rubbish today but I think it's also just #4 - after all the novelty has well and truly worn off!

Good news though, council have overturned the admissions decision. Ds is into our school of choice. Yay!

Fab123 · 14/04/2011 12:28

With both of you on the boredom front. When I said I felt at a loose end...well, that's really boredom. I've even started packing my hospital bag Blush - I'm aware I have far too much time on my hands at the moment. Silly thing is I'm convinced once she's here I'll be wishing I had time to myself to do "nothing"!

Watched the breastfeeding docu by that Cherry Healy on BBC iPlayer last night. Really want to BF and hope I can do it. I've got the lanolin nipple cream and have read a few bits about putting nip to nose first etc. Ideally I'd like to BF in the day and have a bottle for her before bed so that she stays fuller for longer...does the MW go over all of this or is it in the antenatal classes? I'm trying not to put too much pressure on for BF but I would like to know all I can to make a good go of it!

Sorry so many of you are suffering. I'm so lucky and wish I could do more to help. Button why on earth did they give you crutches if you are better? Surely psychologically that doesn't help? Or was it purely precautionary?

Off to commence making my friend's daughter some bunting today/tomoz as we saw some in Fenwicks selling for £20 and she said mine was better and nicer material Grin.

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 12:59

It's precautionary or preventative. When I walk I waddle (who doesn't?!) as the weight of your upper body swings as your centre of gravity has shifted, but that means my pelvis is being shunted from side to side. When you use crutches you support your upper body with your arms. The idea is that it will help to stave off any more symptoms for a bit longer and limit the likelihood of any long-term damage.

Psychologically it doesn't help though, especially as I thought I was doing so well.

Still, at least I have a good medical team. It seems a lot of women are still treated shockingly with SPD - having to beg for treatment, being told there's nothing that can be done etc. It makes me v Angry.

nicolamumof3 · 14/04/2011 14:04

oh button you have my sympathies i had sinsitus for a month before ds3 arrived. Thats why i had an epidural i was so weak and run down so had a nice little sleep before pushing him out.

Just had my parents over for lunch and cream scones de-lish, but im wiped out. they came to see ds1 as his 12th bday tomorrow. Am off for a little nap in a mo take the benefit of having my dh at home.

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 15:30

Thanks Nic. I've just taken sudafed and started my antibiotics so I'm hoping that possibly by tonight but defo by tomorrow I might feel less like my head will explode if someone talks a little bit too loud! Or that my brains might fall out the front if I bend over forwards!

Kids are fighting loads today too - dds keep winding ds up then when he cries say 'we've not done anything'. They're just as bad as each other. Think I might send dds out with the dog and stick a dvd on for ds. Anything for just a bit of peace.

Would normally be jealous of your scones but can't face anything other than cereal Sad

Pesha · 14/04/2011 17:36

Hi all, thank you for concern. I am taking it reasonably easy but only really because of the SPD pain! And I will be making dp go up in the loft as our ladder isn't quite long enough and when considering it yesterday I'm pretty certain there is no way I could hoick myself up there and even if I could, lowering myself back again down would be impossible with my huge bump and un-spreadable hips!!

Had physio today and I too have crutches although feel like a right spanner trying to coordinate myself to walk with them! I've used crutches before when its just one leg thats bad so you move both crutches together and then swing the bad leg but this moving crutches alternately with opposite legs is a complicated business!! I tried a maternity belt but it made very little difference and as I find that while the tubi-grip helps with my front and back of pelvis pain it tends to make my hip pain much worse she thought the maternity belt would prob make my hip pain even worse. Am slightly Hmm though that she didn't examine me in any way or do any manipulation or actual treatment, just asked me questions and sent me off with crutches.

There were so many things I was going to say as I read through but can't seem to remember it all now. So tired today.

Oh I agree with being bored, I have completely had enough now and am willing the next 11 weeks away (29 weeks today so getting there!). Definitely my least enjoyable pregnancy ever! Am also incredibly frustrated by not being able to do things. In my last pg I kept being told my hip pain was just a normal part of pg so I carried on doing things and pushed through the pain as much as I could. This time the pain is a lot worse so I can't push through it so much but I also know that it would be silly to try as that will just make it worse so I have to accept my limitations which is something I hate doing! Even sweeping and washing the floors this morning was agonising, I struggle just taking washing out the machine and I really, really dislike having to rely on dp (or anyone) to help me. Don't get me wrong, I like dp doing jobs for me and not having to do everything but its the having to rely on him to do it that bothers me!

Button - very good news about the school Smile

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 17:44

Indeed it is. I hope you get to hear what you want too. And I hope we all lift out of these doldrums soon!

Eglu · 14/04/2011 18:07

Hi All,

I've had a rubbish last 24 hours, doesn't sound like I'm the only one though.

I had horrendous heartburn last night and got hardly any sleep. Then had mw this morning and almost fainted. Mw is getting me a prescription for peptac, but I have read it is disgusting. I will try to be careful about what I eat from now on though. Mw also took my bloods today, so I'm hoping I am actually anemic as it means something can be done about the tiredness. I was at this stage with both boys, so it is fairly likely.

I am also completely fed up of being pg, so glad to see I'm not the only one. :)

On the plus side, I only have 6 weeks left to work now, and I'm getting another appointment with my consultant in 3 weeks, so I will get another scan. I also love my consultant. He is the most lovely man and makes you feel like the most important person in the world when you see him.

Button hope things pick up for you soon.

Twit · 14/04/2011 18:38

LOL listen to us all...
Pesha my house is a tip 'cos I can't do the stuff I normally would.. toys and crap everywhere, which means I am always slipping and tripping. I haven't been able to hoover or mop for weeks, the bathroom, forget it. Washing is just about do-able but only with numerous bags and kneeling to fill the machine.
I now have what feels like a nerve being nipped in my hip, which sounds like it might be the belt. I'm really careful about putting it on but still - it really helps except for this new pain. And in the night I get it on the other side higher up. ANd leg cramps.
I can't face any food either, tomato and cucmumber and soft cheese for me. ANd barbecued chicken (plain). ANd a hot cross bun when I give up and get up in the night. Right, I've had a moan today and am going to STOP right now.

Glad to hear about the school, that happened to our school a couple of years ago, they had measured the distance by road rather than the paths that would be used.

Oh and I've spotted confuddled, she says she ok but very busy.

A positive thought, at least we don't have to worry if we look slim this summer. Do they think its gonna be a hot one this year, personally I'm hoping for one like last year TBH.

buttonmoon78 · 14/04/2011 19:25

I'd be happy with a cooler summer until the baby arrives and then it can heat up nicely! But I agree with you about being slim. Who gives a flying wotsit?! I will be wearing my pg linen trousers all summer with lots of long vests.

My house is a tip too. I need to hoover the lounge as there is popcorn all over it from last night's party. Not a good look.
