ChaCha, LOL at image of you doing the shuffle in front of the mirror age 13 to S-EXPRESS! V. good! Sorry, don't know the dance btw....

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 08:57

oooh...and does anyone knoe a place that sells nighlights without cartoons or other baby like things on them? we want a plain white one but I can't find one anywhere..

Londoner · 24/10/2005 08:59

twinkle.... 7 CRATES?!! LOL! That should keep you busy, you'll be off on a million little nostalgia trips all day too with each little garment.... ahhh, remember this little vest etc. ! Sounds like a nice thing to do on such a rainy/cold day.

38+2! (thinks.... better locate MY crates!)

karmamother · 24/10/2005 09:19

just a quickie, thanks for the supportive words, Londoner. It nearly made me cry. You should be a counsellor, your advice was totally spot-on. I would like to get any "issues" sorted before the birth as we're going to be 2 sleepy puppies & likely to be irritable with each other. He thinks I over-analyse everything, whereas he just goes with the flow & is totally laid back. Is it just me or do all women analyse even the minutiae of daily life, (whereas men can't bring themselves to be arsed, TBH!)

We discussed my PND from last time in more detail last night...he genuinely thought I'd just been a bit down. It hadn't occured to him that I'd have needed A/Ds & counselling to get me through it. Still, these things need to be aired & as you say....this phase will hopefully give way to a better one. Thanks.

Just a quick hello, as leaving now for first antenatal class (at 37 weeks - they leave it late here! Half the class have given birth apparently (perhaps there's a motive here...!!). Feelinhg a bit weepy/guilty mother as left dd at holiday club for trip to halloween day out, but she was very clingy and cried. Wanted to go back and get her, but she has been so excited about going... Londoner's soothing words have calmed me down! Will catch up properly later!
PS: Enthusia, like Twinkle I'm free this week if you do make it up to the North - I live in Warrington so could fit in around you. Have a feeling that you will have had bubs by then (but if not, can take you to the hossy!)

karma- you're welcome. Sounds like you're already half way there, you're tackling it head on and that's always tough, good going girl! Also, fact that you're analytical and attentive and dp a laid back 'go-with the-flow-er' = good match I'd say, balance, sounds v. positive combo.

ChaCha · 24/10/2005 09:59

Good morning ladies,

Londoner - You are officially recruited as the November Ladies Counsellor! You're great!

Beks, meant to post earlier so belated condolences to you and your DH. Sorry to hear the sad news and I hope that you'll hang on in there until at least the weekend! Thinking of you.

Enthusia - Have a wonderful and relaxing time up North. Make sure your notes are in your bag though please Try and let us know how you are while there.

BoB - 24.99 for a freebie?!? Try and get your money back, that's terrible.

Busy & Karma - Sending you loads of tea and sympathy, hope you're both feeling a bit better today. Pregnancy hormones!!!

I'm sorry if i've missed anyone, mum is waiting for me to get dressed so that we can go out and I can't concentrate as I should. On a happy note, DH ordered one of those gliding chairs and footstools as well as the cot so I'm chuffed about that and looking fwd to delivery. Surprises are short lived in this house, can sniff a surprise a mile away!

Anyway..talk to you all soon. x

twinkle

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 11:05

cahcha so jealous of your chair! sounds lovely, how nice of your dp!
Twinkle! eek...I have a strange feeling someone is going to have a baby today...was hoping it wouldn't be me! I don't think that you are too early, my little brother was born at 36 weeks and just had a litle jaundice.
Sending best wishes...

does anyone lese have a nice set of underwear ready to wear into hospital for labour? my dp was laughing at me when I told him, and he's right..I won't care at the time, and it will probably end up ruined, but i can't help it...teehee

goldenoldie · 24/10/2005 12:27

Twinkle - I don't have any medical training but I had steroid shots at 27 weeks and hospital told me I would get them again at 35 weeks too. Don't know if that is standard proceedure tho? They also said that babies born before 35 weeks would automatically go into special care - if only for a few hours.

karmamother · 24/10/2005 12:29

Twinkle1, sorry for the delay in replying, At your gestation the baby's lungs are mature enough to not need steroids. After 34 weeks, both lung maturity & the sucking reflex are all in place so you can relax. The only thing is baby might be on the small side, as you mentioned. They can cool down quickly after the delivery so will need to be fed early & kept warm. Also, prem labours can be on the quick side, once they get cracking. Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.

twinkle1 · 24/10/2005 12:34

thanks karma,
contractions have eased off again but im not convinced that this is not the start of something as im feeling very strange!!well stranger than normal I guess they would just section me early
I will do anything to get out of the washing

goldenoldie · 24/10/2005 12:41

Karma - consultant told me that sucking reflex and lung maturity don't kick in till 36 weeks?

twinkle1 · 24/10/2005 12:47

thanks karma
Today gets better ive now got Diarrhoea!!!! Im now more than a little worried my body may be getting reved up
twinkle

karmamother · 24/10/2005 12:54

Don't want to add to any confusion here! I was aways told that 34 weeks was the turning point as far as fetal wellbeing was concerned. They would go to SCBU but I can remember giving 35 weekers bottles when I was there during my training, although some did need tube feeds. I guess its not a hard & fast rule. Try Mears as I'm sure she'll be able to give you a clearer picture.

Laylasmum · 24/10/2005 12:58

Twinkle twinges and diarrhoea? oooh could be but having said that i've gone from struggling with constipation for most of this pg to very frequent bowel movements and its gone on for a couple of weeks now!!

Saw mw today no real news everything as it should be, mum came with me as i can't drive due to swollen sprained ankle, ( think she just wanted to have a crafty listen into baby really!!)

Got another san tomorrow!! Just to check presentation everyone including me is sure this baby has been head down since about 30 wks but because i'm planning home birth they have to chack presentation as they will not deliver breech vaginally in my area not even in hospital!!

Anyone else had a scan so late on before? I'm 39 wks now so don't know how much we'll be able to see and i guess as heads engaged won't get to see its face really!!

karmamother · 24/10/2005 13:03

Twinkle1- try this link.
this

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 13:18

aw Twinkle- I want more babies on here, but not if they are going to be poorly!
Hope it's just a scare.
I wish there was some foolproof method of knowing 'this is it' maybe an alarm or something..teehee..
I predict many conversations speculating over the next few weeks....

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 14:15

Hooray for Boots..I got a sympathetic lady on the phone and they are crediting my advantage card with 2499 points for the huggies pack..she took my word for it and didn't even ask me to send the statement or the voucher...
Hope it stops raining now so I can go and spend them...
I just made a silly ebay purchase too...an alien sleepsuit with a hat with little antennae on it..poor baby!
Any change in how you are feeling Twinkle?

twinkle1 · 24/10/2005 14:35

hi all,
well im out of the bath again and things seem to have settled down(thank god)im just fed up now, wish it was all over with now. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks ever
sorry to moan
twinkle

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 14:41

glad you feel better twinkle....
the baby does need a little more cooking though! hang in there...
I guess I'm not alone in feeling like i've been pregnant forever.
Dp made me laugh last night when we were talking about bringing the baby home. My mum plans to come down when I'm in labour as back up support and then stay for a week, and he suggested we book at a nice restaurant, then go out clubbing while she's here to look after the tot...teehee!
Imagine me 4 days after labour leaving the baby with my mum and shaking my ass on a dance floor...
men eh?
I'm feeling very sad today..I have nothing better to do than browse the internet and eat too much...booo....

karmamother · 24/10/2005 14:49

BoB, guess what's worse than browsing the internet & eating too much? Browsing the internet & NOT being able to eat too much. I am sooooo p!ssed off at eating the same old crappy food just to keep my blood sugars down. You know that feeling you get when you're having a bad day & you think to yourself, "I know, I'll go & get a BIG bar of chocolate/cream cake/ten rounds of white toast with butter/insert your drug of choice." Well, I get those moments but I can't do a bloody thing about it. I have to stay in my bad mood.

Sorry for moan.

karmamother · 24/10/2005 14:51

ps. Flora, my cat has left home because I took out my bad mood on her. Feel really bad now.

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 14:51

aw karma....i don't think I'd be able to cope without the blood sugar boosting treats...
sending sympathetic hugs!
I bet dried fruit doesn't have the same effect....
Will the diabetes dissapear straight away or does it take some time?
